Sunny Shelly’s Review: Single and Ready to Jingle by Piper Rayne

The girl who loves Christmas falls for the Grinch—it’s a Christmas miracle.

What started as a dumpster fire of a blind date turns into a deal.

In truth, it probably didn’t help that I showed up dressed like an elf but that’s a story for another time. Our start was rocky at best which is why it’s so frustrating that I can’t stop thinking about his sexy British accent. Or the way his chest and arms fill out his suit. Or his perfect hair with that single streak of grey at the front.

Santa likes lists and so do I, so here’s all the reasons why Andrew and I aren’t right for each other:

He’s my brother’s best friend

He’s the biggest grump I’ve ever met.

He hates Christmas.

That last one is big for a girl like me who thinks that the entire month of December should be a national holiday. So, when he calls for my help in planning his firm’s holiday party, I can’t pass up the opportunity to grow my small business. Bonus, we make a deal, and he agrees to attend three holiday events with me so I can make him fall in love with Christmas. As if I’d pass up an opportunity to make a Grinch’s heart grow three times its size.

It isn’t long until I discover Andrew has a very real reason to hate Christmas and I start to see him in a different light. That’s when the Christmas miracle begins.

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

What happens when you cross a Christmas-loving heroine with a Grinchy Scrooge who hates everything about the holiday? You get this adorable romcom from Piper Rayne! Sweet and swoony and full of holiday cheer!

Kenzie and Andrew were magical together. They definitely get off on the wrong foot, and he is such a grumpy a-hole. But soon they begin to spend more time together after they make a pact — he needs her to plan his law firm’s holiday party so he has a better chance at making partner, and she wants to get him to love Christmas again. And it’s not long before Kenzie discovers that there is a very sweet side to the grumpy Brit after all. I mean, he buys every hot chocolate flavor and topping he can find because he didn’t know what she liked? Swoon!

Both Kenzie and Andrew have some deep-rooted insecurities that affect their relationship, and of course that leads to The Conflict. And Andrew does some grade-A groveling to make it up to Kenzie after their relationship implodes. I never would have imagined that the grump we met on their blind date was the same guy who is with Kenzie at the end of the book, but that’s love for you! And some Christmas magic!

Narrators John Lane and CJ Bloom were perfection in bringing this delectable holiday tale to life!

Excerpt

“I need to be married and have a child before I can get ownership of my business.”
“You talk like this is a stipulation of some kind…”
He shuffles his feet. For the first time since he prowled into my office, he seems less than confident. In fact, he looks downright pissed. “My father’s will says, unless I marry and produce an heir by the time I’m forty, I won’t inherit my company or get access to my trust fund.”
“I see.” I lean back in my seat. “So, this is why you proposed to Lila and hustled her into marrying you.”
“If by that you mean I courted her—”
“You used your charisma to unduly influence her.”
“—I wooed her, took her on dates, to dinners, even the blasted opera, then bought her the biggest engagement ring I could lay my hands on.”
“You mean that tasteless hunk of stone on her finger?” I cover my mouth and cough. “No wonder it was so easy to convince her to walk away from you.”
His jaw tics. A nerve pops at his temple. He looks about ready to burst out of his uber-fitted suit. Oh, goodie. At least I got a rise out of him. That has to count for something, eh?
“That tasteless hunk of stone cost close to a million dollars,” he says through gritted teeth.
“Money isn’t everything,” I announce in a prim voice.
“You certainly weren’t complaining when you chose the most expensive venue possible for the wedding.”
I straighten my spine. “If you mean the All Villa in Bali, that was Lila’s choice. She wanted to get married in Bali, you know.”
“And, no doubt you jumped at the idea, considering you get a fifteen percent commission on the entire cost of the wedding.”
“Hey, you get what you pay for. I’ve been busting my ass for the past few months to get this event organized. Do you even know what an impossible task I’ve pulled off? I’ve managed to get all of the preparations completed in eight weeks. Eight bloody weeks. That’s just forty-two days. It normally takes close to a year to organize a ceremony of this scale. And I pulled it off in less than one-fourth that time.”
“Good, so it won’t be a problem to flip things around to accommodate yourself as the bride, too.”
“I never said I was going to marry you.”
“Haven’t you been listening to anything I’ve been saying?” His features grow even harder. Grays and greens shoot through the blue of his eyes until the color resembles that of a gathering storm. “If it’s custody of the child you’re worried about, once you deliver the child, we will separate. There’ll be a prenup, of course, but I’ll make sure you’re reimbursed for your time.” He says all of this in a voice so casual, he might as well be asking about the weather. No, strike that. I’ve heard people speak with more emotion about the weather changes in London than he has about his entire crazy-ass idea.
I curl my fingers into fists and resist the urge to leap up screaming. Won’t do to lose it. Need to keep my cool. Need to make him see just how crazy this entire conversation is. “Have you even heard yourself? We barely know each other, and now you’re saying you want me to marry you—instead of the woman the world thinks you’re going to marry. Not only that, you want me to produce a child, and then you’ll divorce me?”
“We’ll co-parent and have equal rights to the child.” He raises his arms in a conciliatory gesture. “I’m not the kind who’ll keep a mother away from her child.”
“Of course not,” I scoff. “But you’re the kind who’d force a woman to marry him.”
“Fake marry.”
“Doesn’t seem fake when we’re supposed to produce an heir,” I protest.
“There are ways of doing it without my having to touch you. Unless,” he looks me up and down and a calculating look comes into his eyes, “unless you prefer it to be done the old-fashioned way. In which case, I might oblige you. If you ask me nicely, that is.”
My head spins. My heart seems to have taken up permanent residence in my throat. My stomach feels like a twister has become entangled inside.
“You’re not making any sense. You can’t walk in and threaten me into marrying you, then announce you need me to produce a child for you, in the same breath.”
His grin widens. “I just did.”
“There’s still time.” I raise my hands. “Walk away now, and I’ll forget any of this happened. In fact, I won’t even go to the media with news of how you intimidated me.”
“You’re not going to do that.”
“Oh, yeah?” I snap back my shoulders. “And why is that?”
“Because when you marry me, even though the marriage is fake, no one else will know. To the outside world, you’ll be the wife of Liam Kincaid, which means, doors will automatically open for you. Your past transgressions—”
“Transgressions?” I shout.
“Transgressions” —he firms his lips— “will be forgotten. Socialites and influencers will queue up to patronize your services. You’ll run the most successful wedding planning outfit in this country, if not all of the continent.”
I blink. Now that he mentions it… It’s true. Once I hitch my star to the Liam Kincaid reputation, it’ll be easy sailing. Everyone will want a piece of my wedding planning company. I’ll have more projects than I can handle.
“Your showpieces will, of course, be your own wedding. You can give it any twist you like; make it the kind of wedding you’ve always imagined for yourself.”
“For myself?”
“You must have thought about how you’d like to get married.” He glances at his watch and straightens. “Well, this is your chance to execute it. Use it to show the world and all the headline seekers exactly how it should be done.”
“S-o-o-o, I can do anything I want for my wedding ceremony?” I pluck at the rubber band around my wrist.
“Yes.”
“The budget?”
“Unlimited. I’ll need to sign off on the bills, but nothing is too good for my bride. Whatever you want, you can have it.”
I squeeze my fingers together. Surely, I’m not considering this. I’m not actually thinking of going through with this insane proposal of his. On the other hand, if I do, I’ll have everything I want. The wedding of my dreams, the chance to prove a point to all the naysayers who thought I’d never make it, and a resounding ‘fuck you’ to all my competition. Hell, there won’t be competition. I’ll wipe them off the map with this showpiece of a wedding. No one will ever question my competency again. And I’ll have enough clients to keep me going for years. Even after I divorce him, it won’t make a dent in my reputation.
“Well?” He scowls. “What’s it gonna be?”
I pluck at the rubber band with more intensity. “So, I can transform it into the wedding of my dreams, the kind that’ll make every media outlet, gossip magazine, and wedding blog sit up and take notice?”
“Do you not understand English? Or have you not been listening to me?”
I straighten in my seat. “I heard you the first time,” I say in a low voice.
“Good, so what’s your answer?”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

Man, the model on this cover just fits the image I had in my mind for Liam! The Proposal is an enemies-to-lovers, marriage-of-convenience story with a spunky heroine and a grumpy hero. Liam has to get married ASAP in order to claim his inheritance and the family company. He was set to get married, but Isla kind of busted up that relationship. Holding her personally responsible, he blackmails her into marrying him by threatening to ruin her wedding-planning company by exposing what she did.

The witty banter between these two was fantastic. They really loathed each other, so that just made it all the more delicious when they finally fell in love and Liam’s proposal of a business contract between them became a bona fide relationship. But I felt like that transition was really rushed and I would have liked to have seen more of them *falling* for one another.

I did feel a little lost with all of the side characters who played a part in this story because I had not read any of the other Big Bad Billionaire books. There were a lot of references to things I knew nothing about, and I thought that the author could have done a better job of summarizing/writing that in a way that it wouldn’t have had that kind of impact on the story.

Overall, The Proposal was an entertaining, spicy, and fun enemies-to-lovers romance. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Fallen Crown by W. Million

Fallen Crown, an all-new enemies-to-lovers royal standalone romance from bestselling author W. Million is available now!

Maren Tucker is done with men who check in for the good times and check out for the bad. As a member of one of the oldest families in Bellerive, she doesn’t have to play nice with the Summerset Royals. Especially not the youngest who represents everything she detests.

Brice Summerset is the life of every party, and as the third in line to the throne, he’s never had to take anything in life particularly seriously. Show up. Charm a few people. Make a generous donation. Move on.

But Brice’s life is on the cusp of big changes. His father is sick. His two older brothers are settling down, and he’s starting to wonder what else life has to offer.

When Maren tries to block Brice from joining her charity adventure race team, Brice balks at the notion he’s not up to the challenge. As the two butt heads over everything from training philosophies to life goals, they begin to see something in themselves and each other that they never expected.

Excerpt

I press my lips together to avoid snapping back, which is what Brice wants. If I can’t keep my retorts focused on training, I’ll undermine my authority as the coach, and I’ve worked too damn hard and earned every scrap of my knowledge to look like a fool.
Wren hooks Brice up to the ropes, and he approaches the wall, examining the placement of the holds. When he goes to reach for the first one, Wren cringes but doesn’t say anything.
“You want to maximize your static reach.” I release a deep sigh and go to the wall to demonstrate how to straighten his posture and rise on his toes to get a good grip. “Otherwise, your arms will get tired quickly.”
He gazes at me wordlessly for a beat, and I can’t tell if he’s taking me seriously or not. Then he says, “Any more tips, Coach?”
“Don’t over grip the handholds. Keep your hands relaxed and light.” I demonstrate, and when Brice grasps the rock just above our heads, I slide my hand under his to check the tension in his wrist. His skin is warm and smooth against mine. “Yeah,” I say, “gentle like you’re cupping an egg or a light bulb and trying not to break it.”
“I tend to prefer my grip firm,” he says with a smirk.
“Not a surprise that your primary concern is your own satisfaction.” I give him a mild look and keep my voice pitched low.
“My own satisfaction is always a concern,” he says, leaning close enough that his breath stirs the tendrils of dark hair that have escaped my ponytail, “but it’s never my only one.”
I can feel my jaw tighten at his obvious innuendo, and my heart kicks at his proximity. An unexpected awareness electrifies the space between us, and when our gazes connect, his expression shifts from brimming with amusement to one laced with curiosity.
“You’re not as immune to me as you’d like to believe,” he whispers.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Maren and Brice’s story is a rollercoaster of emotions!

As the youngest son of the royal family, Brice never really had to worry about anyone or anything other than himself. He has no responsibilities, nothing is expected of him, and he has more or less lived his life however he wanted it. Maren, meanwhile, has had a tough life and has been hurt so much by so many people. She detests Prince Brice, but has no choice but to train him for a charity race, much to her dismay. So what happens when Maren discovers that Prince Playboy isn’t all that he seems?

I loved how sweet Brice was with Maren, and how he respected and cared for her when she didn’t have much of that at all before. And she saw him for the man that he is, not the royal prince who grew up in the palace.

This royal romance is a royal gem! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Princess and the Player by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Princess and The Player is a great follow-up to Beauty and the Baller! Tuck is Ronan’s best friend/former teammate, so the books are loosely connected, but Player is a complete standalone.

The book opens when Tuck and Francesca meet while wearing masks at a sex club neither of them have frequented before. It’s his birthday, but he’s mourning the crossroads he’s at facing the end of his career and his messed-up family life, and she’s mourning what would have been her wedding day and her cheating fiance. Their meeting started out as a bet, and their incredible connection led them to an incredible one-night stand.

But fate had plans for Tuck and Francesca, because they keep crossing paths. They live in the same building! They can’t deny the sparks between them, but Francesca believes Tuck to be a player and is determined to stay far away. Especially after she discovers that she’s pregnant and Tuck never wants a family.

While I hate it when the heroine puts off telling the hero that she’s pregnant in the surprise-baby trope, I did appreciate how that played into the development of Francesca and Tuck’s relationship. As a foster kid, all she’s ever wanted was a family. And he’s had nothing but disappointment in his life because of his family. As they spend time together, Tuck’s walls start coming down, and Fran realizes that she was wrong about him being a player, but that he’s a genuinely nice guy. But how can they make their situation work?

I also really enjoyed the supporting players. Jasper and Brogan and CeCe are all hoots, and I adored Mr. Darden and the Widow. Both Francesca and Tuck had families of their choosing, and I loved how they ultimately decided to choose each other as well. I just wish Fran would have told Tuck earlier about her pregnancy rather than hide it for so long.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Second Chance Mine is a steamy enemies-to-lovers boss romance that closes out the Second Chance series by M. Robinson. Told in dual POV between the past and the present, Adrian and Paige’s is full of so many ups and downs as we get to see the heartbreak that tore them apart 10 years ago and how they come back together again.

Overall, this story is pretty low angst, and I hate when a best friend’s brother is “forbidden” just because it would go against some kind of bro code and the brother says she’s off limits. But that is the situation we have here with Paige and Adrian. However, when Paige and Adrian imploded all those years ago, she also lost her friendship with Cade. And to be honest, I didn’t like Cade all that much, so while I felt bad for Paige, I didn’t think it was a great loss.

Anyway…. it’s 10 years later and Paige is pushed into a situation where she is working as Adrian’s executive assistant thanks to her friend Belle (Second Chance Vow). As she stuffs down the feelings that return, Adrian decides that he has been given the opportunity to win back the one that got away. At first, winning her over isn’t so easy. But as he tries to protect Paige from a stalker, the dangerous situation pushes them closer together and Paige finds herself letting down all of those barriers that she’d built up to protect her heart.

Overall, this is a steamy second-chance romance with an alpha hero who is borderline obsessive, a healthy dose of dirty talk and suspense, and a whole lot of tension between the hero and heroine.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
I adored Presley and Bennett’s story! The premise of Mine to Love was a little different than the other books in this series since Presley and Bennett have been involved in a casual friends with benefits relationship for over a decade and there isn’t a third person involved the way there was with her brother and sisters. But… there are a whole lot of denied feelings involved instead!

It’s clear how crazy Presley is about Bennett. And he, her. Yet while he would make it official in a heartbeat, she is afraid to even admit that they are dating. Her father’s death hit Presley harder than her siblings, and she doesn’t want to admit what Bennett means to her because the first engagement didn’t work out for her brother and sisters.

When Presley gets a positive pregnancy test, however, everything changes. And as much as she tries to keep Bennett in the casual zone, she can’t. But just when things are going great between them, a plot twist threatens to tear them apart. Will Presley finally fess up before she loses Bennett forever?

I loved, loved, loved this book! Natasha Madison once again created wonderful characters and a captivating storyline.

Fresh off of a divorce, Kennedy is only planning on staying in town for a few months to run her Grandma’s event venue until her grandmother heals after breaking her leg. The last thing she expects to find is a community of friends and a family in the rowdy Kinkaid clan. And she certainly doesn’t expect to find handsome single dad Declan.

Even though she’s only in town for a few months, Kennedy and Declan agree to date while she’s staying with her grandma. But of course, they fall hard and fast for one another. Yet, Kennedy is planning to return to Florida, and Declan has a business, his family, and his daughter in Willow Creek. (And little Blakely is adorable and I loved the immediate friendship she and Kennedy forged!)

I loved that it took them until 70% in to do the deed because by then I was so antsy for them to connect and invested in these two as a couple! Will she leave? Will he convince her to change her mind? And then that twist that convinces her that Declan is her true mate — gah! I didn’t expect that, but I kinda should have because he is just that amazing of a book boyfriend!

I am really enjoying this series. Stay Forever is a stand-alone, but there are some continuing storylines that carry over from the other books, and I loved getting those updates on the previous couples!

I can’t wait to read Sterling and Alyssa’s story!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: A Wild Heart by Amie Knight

A Wild Heart, an all-new single mom second chance standalone romance full of heat and emotion from USA Today bestselling author Amie Knight is available now!

I lost a huge piece of myself the day my husband was killed in action.
In the months that followed, I felt like my grief would swallow me whole.
My only solace was my daughter, whose bright light guided me through the darkest of times.

I never wanted to meet someone else.
I vowed to never fall in love again, especially with a marine.

It was supposed to be no strings attached and for a while it was.
But Weston Reeves’s grumpy soul called to my tortured one.
Maybe it was the midnight rides on his bike or the way that only I could make him smile.
He lit me up, set my body afire, and for the first time in five years made me feel alive.

Our relationship was probably the worst gamble I’d ever taken.
But my stupid, wild heart needed him, even if our love was destined to burn me to ashes.

Excerpt

“I just came by to say that a couple of weeks ago was a mistake and it can’t happen again.” I chewed on my bottom lip.
What in the ever-loving hell was wrong with me?
His lip twitched as I heard what sounded like a snort come from his nose. Then he turned away from me and headed back into his stupid garage.
“Did you just snort at me?” I shrieked.
This time he shook his head and chuckled low, completely ignoring me, and went back to work on his bike like I wasn’t even there.
And because I was completely insane, I followed him into that garage and stood a foot from him. “Did you hear what I said? I said it was a mistake. The whole thing. The entire night.”
He nodded, not even looking up from his bike. “I heard you, babe.”
I swung back on the heels of my sneakers. “Well, good.” I turned on those same heels to get out of there like the fires of hell were licking at them.
“But that ain’t why you came all the way out here,” he said so lowly I almost didn’t hear him.
I turned, staring at him even as he continued to ignore me for tinkering with something on his bike. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” he said, standing up and finally looking at me. “You didn’t come over here just to tell a one-night stand the whole thing was a mistake.” He prowled toward me slowly, still cleaning his hands with that rag nonchalantly like he wasn’t coming toward me like a lion stalking its prey.
And I’d somehow managed to corner myself in the back of his garage, as far away as possible from the garage opening. Still, I raised my chin and straightened my spine. “Why the hell did I come all the way out here then?” I started walking myself backward even though I was putting on a brave face.
Tell me. Tell me why I came all the way out here and give it to me. Make me forget.
When he’d finally cornered me in the garage right next to what appeared to be the door to enter his house, he smiled like the cat that ate the canary and my skin prickled even as I felt my nipples harden beneath my shirt.
Oh, God.
He dropped the dirty rag and brought his hands up on either side of my head, caging me in against the wall. “Come on, baby.” He ran his nose down the length of mine and my breath caught. “We both know why you came here.”
I lifted my chin in pretend defiance when all I wanted to do was lick the seam of his gorgeous, supple lips.
“Hmmm, what did I come here for then?” I whispered, feeling dizzy and hot, a deep ache between my legs that I’d never felt before.
He smelled like motor oil and soap and God, it took everything in my power not to grind against his leg that was pushed between mine.
He gave me a barely there smile that never quite met his eyes. “You came here because you missed me,” he growled, moving further into my body even though I’d thought we were as close as two people would get.
My nipples rubbed against his chest and I could feel his heart beating against my own. Our breaths mingled as I trembled against him, but he was wrong. I hadn’t missed him. But I had missed this.
I gave him a smile of my own as I moved my hand between us and rubbed the hard length of him, squeezing at the base. “Oh, honey, I haven’t missed you a bit, but I have missed him.”
A low chuckle echoed throughout the garage that sent goose bumps across my skin before, suddenly, my body was turned, my front pushed crudely against the wall until I was forced to turn my face to the side to avoid hurting my nose.
I panted, my heart thundering wildly in my chest. He was right. This was what I’d come for. The feeling of floating. Being weightless. The high of his body touching mine. The way it made me forget. The way it made me feel alive.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Amie Knight gives another wonderfully angsty romance in A Wild Heart. Emily’s late husband, Andy, was best friends with Holden from A Steel Heart, and I loved getting to catch up with Holden and Miranda! But this book is a standalone and a wonderfully heartbreaking and healing journey for Emily and West.

After Emily’s late husband, Andy, was killed in action, she never imagined that she would fall in love again. Raising her daughter, Parker, was enough to fulfill her. A few years later, Emily and Parker move closer to Holden and Miranda (Andy and Holden were best friends), and she begins building a life in a new town. During a girls’ night out with Miranda, Emily meets a sexy stranger. A brooding, hulking, giant of a man who she never even exchanges names with — but someone who makes her feel alive for the first time in years. And as we get to know grumpy Weston, we learn that Emily makes him feel the same way.

This is a beautiful story about two heartbroken people who are drowning in grief and loss. And for Emily, it goes beyond the loss of her husband and back further to her childhood. She’s afraid to really let West in because all she knows is people leaving her. And while Emily annoys him like crazy, West can’t stay away.

Both of these characters go through a lot when it comes to making peace with their past, and it’s an emotional rollercoaster. But even amid all the heaviness of their story, there is a lot of fun in this book. Emily is sassy as heck, West’s mom is a hoot, and I adored the friendship he and Parker developed.

This was a great story about two people who never expected to find love again finding love again, and the beautiful ragtag family they choose to create.

Blurb:

LAYLA

Two years ago, I fled.

I have no choice but to pack up and move back to Quaint when a tiny computer glitch screws me out of my next traveling nurse opportunity. At first, it makes me anxious. Because he’s there. My ex, the man I pulled away from instead of leaning on after tragedy struck.

Then I realize I’m being gifted another chance to redeem myself from past mistakes and release the guilt I’ve been harboring. The problem? Luke Sacks has no intention of forgiving me. He spits nasty insults at me every chance he gets. Glares at me with those brilliant green eyes that used to worship me.

It only worsens when I put my foot in my mouth and lie to a coworker that Luke and I are together again. Only, we’re far from it.

LUKE

Two years ago, she fled.

After a bar fight leaves me with a nasty little gash, my twin brother forces me to the emergency room. In a flash, it’s as if the past two years haven’t gone by because she’s there. My ex, the woman I lowered to one knee for.

The chance encounter is short-lived, but then suddenly, she’s back in Quaint, declaring to a coworker that we’re back together. I go from being her ex-fiancé to her fake boyfriend in seconds. Stunned, I don’t clear the air. First, because this guy rubs me the wrong way. Second, the heartbreak is too real, the anger too palpable.

So, I strike up a deal that I’m positive will have her leaving Quaint permanently. Because there’s no way I’ll ever forgive Layla Robinson for what she did to me, for the shockwave she leveled me with when she pulled her Houdini act.

This time when she leaves, I’ll be looking forward to it.

TRIGGER WARNING – SEXUAL ASSAULT, VIOLENT BEHAVIOR

Cover artist is Amanda Walker.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This enemies-to-lovers romance is also a second-chance romance between Layla and Luke, who were engaged a few years ago before she fled their small town after her dad’s sudden death. Instead of leaning on Luke in her grief, Layla cut all ties and ghosted him. But now she’s back in their small town for a three-month nursing contract and they keep crossing paths. When Layla needs to get a creepy co-worker off her back, she claims that she and Luke have reunited. And although Luke still has so much anger about the way that their relationship ended, he reluctantly agrees to go along with it. But there’s a thin line between love and hate…

Of course, these two reconnect as they are pretending to be back together. And after they finally admit they never stopped loving one another, things are actually better than ever. But then Luke jumps to unnecessary conclusions, without talking to Layla, and thus The Conflict happens. I get that he had been betrayed by her once before, but if he really was looking for a new start on their relationship, why not give her the chance to explain?

Well, this story does have a HEA, so they do work things out 🙂 If you don’t mind a hero who needs a slap upside the head, then I Still Love You is a great second-chance, small-town romance!

Untaken Twin by Samantha Christy is now live!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Having read the first two Calloway Brothers books, I knew that Untaken Twin was going to be a doozy…. and Samantha Christy delivered all the angst-filled goodness with Cooper and Serenity’s story!

If you’ve read the blurb, you know what this story is about. Cooper is the identical twin of Serenity’s late fiance, Chaz. It’s been four years since the accident claimed Chaz’s life, and neither Cooper nor Ren have been able to move on. They are both trapped in the past, but when her dad has a health issue and calls upon them to co-manage his bar/restaurant, Cooper and Ren have to stop running from their demons and confront them head-on.

How can she work side by side with the man who looks like the dead love of her life? Once upon a time, Ren was one of Cooper’s best friends, but he is so guilt-stricken by Chaz’s death, he can barely face her now. How can they possibly co-manage a restaurant? And oh my goodness, the guilt that consumes them both as they start to develop feelings for one another!

While I loved Jaxon and Tag’s stories, there was something just so much more amazing about Cooper and Ren. And it’s because of that forbidden aspect of Cooper being Chaz’s twin. Chaz’s death affected all of the Calloway brothers, but Cooper more than the others since they were together when Chaz died. The survivor’s guilt is real for Coop, and the emotional guilt he feels once he starts falling for Serenity just about kills him.

This is a gut-wrenching, beautiful story that I will be keeping on my read-often list! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Meet Samantha Christy

Samantha Christy writes sexy new adult and contemporary romances. Although each book is written as a standalone, her series’ tie together so you’ll enjoy seeing characters pop up over and over again.

Regardless of where you start your Samantha Christy journey, you can count on three things: Every book feels REAL (you’ll see bits of yourself in each heroine.) Every story has PAIN (because what’s a good romance without it?) And all her heroines find LOVE (because true romances have an HEA.)
Real. Painful. Love.

Samantha enjoys life as a full-time author under the warm Florida sun with her husband and four children.
