The Joy of Us is an absolute delight! This charming holiday-themed story is one of those books where I could just imagine it playing out like a made-for-TV movie in my mind. Levi is Mr. Christmas and I just adored him!

My heart broke for Fallon as the story got into her reasons for hating Christmas. Levi really pulls out all the stops to change her mind, but when her assignment is up, will it be enough to convince her to stay and be with him for real? If you love grand gestures, this book has a great one!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Christmas Agreement by Sharon Woods

Title: The Christmas Agreement
Author: Sharon Woods
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Billionaire/Single Dad/Age Gap
Release Date: November 23, 2022
BLURB
I didn’t know he was a billionaire and a single dad the night he was stranded with me and only one bed.
Marc has been in my bar a few times before. We often exchanged a few words, but this time was different. His flight was delayed and then cancelled, so I joined him for a drink after closing and got to know him… really well.
As good as he looked in suits, nothing prepared me for Marc without one. Or the way he held me afterwards, despite me telling him I never do that.
Whatever. What’s one night of rule breaking? I’d never see him again anyway.
Except, when I finally land a prestigious architecture trainee position in New York, I find myself on his doorstep.
Marc’s full of surprises.
He never mentioned he had a daughter.
This is a complication I don’t know if I’m ready for. It was supposed to be one night of harmless fun, but now he won’t let me go.
And I don’t know if I want him to.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

One lonely Christmas Eve, Gracie spends a wild night with a handsome stranger who had been into the bar where she works several times before. He was from out of town, nothing more could come from it, but they gave in to their wild connection and spent a magical night together before he left Chicago and Gracie behind the next day.

Fast forward a few months, and Gracie lands an apprenticeship working with an architect in New York City. And the architect representing the other company on the joint project is none other than Marc. Their second meeting is full of awkwardness — not only are they both surprised to see the other, but Gracie mistakenly believes Marc is married — but eventually they reignite the spark that is still flickering between them.

I liked this second-chance romance, but I didn’t love it. Marc is quite the alpha male, and there are enough tender and swoony scenes mixed in with all of the heat and passion. But I felt a little lost while reading this story. Like I felt like I was missing out on a lot of Gracie’s backstory. I later discovered that she is a side character in another book, so maybe that’s where her background was explained. There were many conversations between Gracie and Ava that alluded to past events that I felt like I was clueless about. I also wish there was more Christmas in this book, considering the title.

But overall, Gracie and Marc’s story is a cute second-chance romance. I received an advanced story and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Tempt by Melanie Harlow

Nothing so wrong should ever feel so right.

TEMPT, an all-new steamy small town, one-night-stand, age gap romance featuring a plus-sized heroine and a hot single dad from USA Today and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author Melanie Harlow, is now available!

You’ve heard the story about the wedding planner who falls for the groom?
Well, this is the one where she falls for his father.
And that groom? He’s my ex.

I didn’t realize who the gruff, gorgeous older man was the night he rescued me from a creep in a Manhattan hotel bar. All I knew was that a hot, bearded stranger with a protective streak showed up right when I needed a reminder that real gentlemen still exist.

(Although he left his manners behind after asking me up to his room.)

It was the hottest night of my life, but I never thought I’d see the former Navy SEAL again.

Imagine my surprise at the rehearsal dinner one week later, when my sexy one-night stand is introduced as the father of the groom. Even more surprising? That temptation we felt in New York was no fluke.

In public, we pretend there’s nothing between us.

In private, we can’t keep our hands off each other.

The situation is beyond complicated. Zach never even knew he’d fathered a child until recently, and he wants to earn his son’s trust and respect. As for me, I’m looking for a man who wants to start a family, and Zach has made it clear he’s not that man. He’s fifteen years older, newly divorced, and he lives across the country.

But no matter how many times we draw the line, we keep crossing it.

Nothing so wrong should ever feel so right.

“I think about you every minute of the day. I wish I could be the one, Millie Rose.”

“Maybe in another life, you could have been.”

I adored this story! Melanie Harlow did such a fantastic job creating Millie and Zach’s love affair. It was spicy, it was unpredictable, it was swoony, it was forbidden, it was something neither of them ever expected — and it was oh-so-tempting.

How could something so wrong feel so right? Everything made sense when Millie and Zach were together. All of a sudden, the guy who never wanted a commitment realized how much he enjoyed being with the temptress he met at a bar during a blizzard. And when Millie was with Zach, she just shone. I mean, she was a great heroine to begin with. Confident, sassy, smart, sure of herself (and curvy, which I appreciated!). But there was this other side of her that came out when she and Zach were meeting up in hotel rooms and her house in secret, and she just glowed.

But if only the 14-year age gap was the only complication between them. The want and longing and guilt lept off the page as Millie and Zach tried to figure out how they could continue to see one another yet not ruin the tenuous relationship he was building with his grown son. Her ex-boyfriend. There is heartbreak before they get there, but these two characters go on a marvelous journey together!

I really don’t want to say goodbye to Cloverleigh Farms and the MacAllisters! I hope there are books for the twins someday! Also, there are some GREAT Easter eggs in Tempt for Corinne Michaels fans — namely Jackson Cole since Zach works for Cole Security.

About UNTYING THE KNOT:

A spin-off from the #1 Amazon bestsellers, A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant To Be, USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings you a heart-warming, yet hilarious full-length novel on what life is like after the happily ever after.

Ryot Bisley is my husband.

Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Bobbies and absolute heart throb of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley.

The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.

The second time, he reluctantly bought me dinner, stared at my chest the entire night, and still sported that permanent frown.

The third time . . . well, that was a game changer. His smile captured me, his teasing charmed me, and his touches excited me.

So when he was called up to the majors that didn’t stop us from knocking it out of the park and all the way down the aisle.

Eleven years later…I’d love to say we’re happy as ever but the man who sent me dirty text messages every day is long gone and Mr. Frowny Face is back.

He’s so focused on trying to build a life after baseball that he doesn’t see the life we’ve already created together. . .so I make the hard decision and serve him divorce papers.

Problem is…my husband refuses to accept those papers. Instead, he has a new game plan that makes untying the knot of our marriage a little tricky. And just when I thought I wanted to be traded . . . he’s slowly, tantalizingly roping me back in.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Oh my gosh. This beautiful, beautiful, story is a masterpiece. This marriage in peril story is unlike anything else Meghan Quinn has put out, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Ryot and Myla’s story was still full of the same heartfelt and lighthearted and sexy moments that I’ve come to expect from Meghan… but it was just ramped up so much against the situation of her wanting a divorce and him being blindsided.

The story is told in chapters past and present, so we witness Ryot and Myla’s growing friendship and eventual romance juxtaposed against their unraveling marriage. How did they get to where they are today? Can Myla ever forgive her husband for his betrayal? Will Ryot ever figure out how he let her down?

This story is deep. Myla’s childhood was a mess, and she has so many issues. She’s learned to cope and manage better, and it’s interesting to see how she retreats to that broken place again amid the breakdown of her marriage.

Fans of Quinn’s will love the cameos from other characters, like the baseball guys, and the Cane brothers. We even get to attend JP and Kelsey’s wedding!

This book will make you laugh, and cry, and cry some more. My heart broke around chapter 13 and I wasn’t sure I was going to recover! Narrators Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, working in dual narration, were magnificent telling this story! Their portrayals were nuanced and I felt every up and down they went through.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: This Life and All The Rest by Brit Benson

 Release Date: November 15

She thinks our story is over.
It’s just beginning.

Lennon Washington has been the star of every dream, every nightmare, since the day I lost her.
Since the moment I let my demons win, and she slipped through my fingers.

Her memory has haunted me.
Changed me.
Broken me and remade me.
And I’d all but given up on us.

Now tragedy has brought her back into my life.
My secrets are at her disposal,
Hers are unraveling quickly,
And every emotion we’ve tried to deny is returning with a vengeance.

But we’re not kids anymore.
We have changed drastically.
And with each new ache, I start to wonder,

Is there a place for us in this life,
Or will we have to try again in the next one?

Macon and Lennon’s story comes to a wonderful conclusion in This Life and All The Rest. Despite all that has happened between them, these two soulmates find their way back together. But it is a doozy of a rollercoaster to get there!

The book picks up where The Love of My Next Life left off — It’s four years after prom, Lennon is living in Paris, and gets a phone call from Claire summoning her home. There is so much hurt and anger between Macon and Lennon. They each felt abandoned by the other, and they both have gone through SO MUCH during the last four years. It’s all framed around a family crisis, bringing Lennon’s relationships with her dad, stepmom, and Macon’s sister Claire into the mix as well.

Bit by bit, Macon and Lennon learn what the other had gone through during their time apart. My heart broke for them both because there was just so much that happened, and so much of it could have been prevented! But that heartache and pain led to a wonderful HEA for this couple and I loved their journey to finding one another again!

Excerpt

“I need to be married and have a child before I can get ownership of my business.”
“You talk like this is a stipulation of some kind…”
He shuffles his feet. For the first time since he prowled into my office, he seems less than confident. In fact, he looks downright pissed. “My father’s will says, unless I marry and produce an heir by the time I’m forty, I won’t inherit my company or get access to my trust fund.”
“I see.” I lean back in my seat. “So, this is why you proposed to Lila and hustled her into marrying you.”
“If by that you mean I courted her—”
“You used your charisma to unduly influence her.”
“—I wooed her, took her on dates, to dinners, even the blasted opera, then bought her the biggest engagement ring I could lay my hands on.”
“You mean that tasteless hunk of stone on her finger?” I cover my mouth and cough. “No wonder it was so easy to convince her to walk away from you.”
His jaw tics. A nerve pops at his temple. He looks about ready to burst out of his uber-fitted suit. Oh, goodie. At least I got a rise out of him. That has to count for something, eh?
“That tasteless hunk of stone cost close to a million dollars,” he says through gritted teeth.
“Money isn’t everything,” I announce in a prim voice.
“You certainly weren’t complaining when you chose the most expensive venue possible for the wedding.”
I straighten my spine. “If you mean the All Villa in Bali, that was Lila’s choice. She wanted to get married in Bali, you know.”
“And, no doubt you jumped at the idea, considering you get a fifteen percent commission on the entire cost of the wedding.”
“Hey, you get what you pay for. I’ve been busting my ass for the past few months to get this event organized. Do you even know what an impossible task I’ve pulled off? I’ve managed to get all of the preparations completed in eight weeks. Eight bloody weeks. That’s just forty-two days. It normally takes close to a year to organize a ceremony of this scale. And I pulled it off in less than one-fourth that time.”
“Good, so it won’t be a problem to flip things around to accommodate yourself as the bride, too.”
“I never said I was going to marry you.”
“Haven’t you been listening to anything I’ve been saying?” His features grow even harder. Grays and greens shoot through the blue of his eyes until the color resembles that of a gathering storm. “If it’s custody of the child you’re worried about, once you deliver the child, we will separate. There’ll be a prenup, of course, but I’ll make sure you’re reimbursed for your time.” He says all of this in a voice so casual, he might as well be asking about the weather. No, strike that. I’ve heard people speak with more emotion about the weather changes in London than he has about his entire crazy-ass idea.
I curl my fingers into fists and resist the urge to leap up screaming. Won’t do to lose it. Need to keep my cool. Need to make him see just how crazy this entire conversation is. “Have you even heard yourself? We barely know each other, and now you’re saying you want me to marry you—instead of the woman the world thinks you’re going to marry. Not only that, you want me to produce a child, and then you’ll divorce me?”
“We’ll co-parent and have equal rights to the child.” He raises his arms in a conciliatory gesture. “I’m not the kind who’ll keep a mother away from her child.”
“Of course not,” I scoff. “But you’re the kind who’d force a woman to marry him.”
“Fake marry.”
“Doesn’t seem fake when we’re supposed to produce an heir,” I protest.
“There are ways of doing it without my having to touch you. Unless,” he looks me up and down and a calculating look comes into his eyes, “unless you prefer it to be done the old-fashioned way. In which case, I might oblige you. If you ask me nicely, that is.”
My head spins. My heart seems to have taken up permanent residence in my throat. My stomach feels like a twister has become entangled inside.
“You’re not making any sense. You can’t walk in and threaten me into marrying you, then announce you need me to produce a child for you, in the same breath.”
His grin widens. “I just did.”
“There’s still time.” I raise my hands. “Walk away now, and I’ll forget any of this happened. In fact, I won’t even go to the media with news of how you intimidated me.”
“You’re not going to do that.”
“Oh, yeah?” I snap back my shoulders. “And why is that?”
“Because when you marry me, even though the marriage is fake, no one else will know. To the outside world, you’ll be the wife of Liam Kincaid, which means, doors will automatically open for you. Your past transgressions—”
“Transgressions?” I shout.
“Transgressions” —he firms his lips— “will be forgotten. Socialites and influencers will queue up to patronize your services. You’ll run the most successful wedding planning outfit in this country, if not all of the continent.”
I blink. Now that he mentions it… It’s true. Once I hitch my star to the Liam Kincaid reputation, it’ll be easy sailing. Everyone will want a piece of my wedding planning company. I’ll have more projects than I can handle.
“Your showpieces will, of course, be your own wedding. You can give it any twist you like; make it the kind of wedding you’ve always imagined for yourself.”
“For myself?”
“You must have thought about how you’d like to get married.” He glances at his watch and straightens. “Well, this is your chance to execute it. Use it to show the world and all the headline seekers exactly how it should be done.”
“S-o-o-o, I can do anything I want for my wedding ceremony?” I pluck at the rubber band around my wrist.
“Yes.”
“The budget?”
“Unlimited. I’ll need to sign off on the bills, but nothing is too good for my bride. Whatever you want, you can have it.”
I squeeze my fingers together. Surely, I’m not considering this. I’m not actually thinking of going through with this insane proposal of his. On the other hand, if I do, I’ll have everything I want. The wedding of my dreams, the chance to prove a point to all the naysayers who thought I’d never make it, and a resounding ‘fuck you’ to all my competition. Hell, there won’t be competition. I’ll wipe them off the map with this showpiece of a wedding. No one will ever question my competency again. And I’ll have enough clients to keep me going for years. Even after I divorce him, it won’t make a dent in my reputation.
“Well?” He scowls. “What’s it gonna be?”
I pluck at the rubber band with more intensity. “So, I can transform it into the wedding of my dreams, the kind that’ll make every media outlet, gossip magazine, and wedding blog sit up and take notice?”
“Do you not understand English? Or have you not been listening to me?”
I straighten in my seat. “I heard you the first time,” I say in a low voice.
“Good, so what’s your answer?”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

Man, the model on this cover just fits the image I had in my mind for Liam! The Proposal is an enemies-to-lovers, marriage-of-convenience story with a spunky heroine and a grumpy hero. Liam has to get married ASAP in order to claim his inheritance and the family company. He was set to get married, but Isla kind of busted up that relationship. Holding her personally responsible, he blackmails her into marrying him by threatening to ruin her wedding-planning company by exposing what she did.

The witty banter between these two was fantastic. They really loathed each other, so that just made it all the more delicious when they finally fell in love and Liam’s proposal of a business contract between them became a bona fide relationship. But I felt like that transition was really rushed and I would have liked to have seen more of them *falling* for one another.

I did feel a little lost with all of the side characters who played a part in this story because I had not read any of the other Big Bad Billionaire books. There were a lot of references to things I knew nothing about, and I thought that the author could have done a better job of summarizing/writing that in a way that it wouldn’t have had that kind of impact on the story.

Overall, The Proposal was an entertaining, spicy, and fun enemies-to-lovers romance. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt

I press my lips together to avoid snapping back, which is what Brice wants. If I can’t keep my retorts focused on training, I’ll undermine my authority as the coach, and I’ve worked too damn hard and earned every scrap of my knowledge to look like a fool.
Wren hooks Brice up to the ropes, and he approaches the wall, examining the placement of the holds. When he goes to reach for the first one, Wren cringes but doesn’t say anything.
“You want to maximize your static reach.” I release a deep sigh and go to the wall to demonstrate how to straighten his posture and rise on his toes to get a good grip. “Otherwise, your arms will get tired quickly.”
He gazes at me wordlessly for a beat, and I can’t tell if he’s taking me seriously or not. Then he says, “Any more tips, Coach?”
“Don’t over grip the handholds. Keep your hands relaxed and light.” I demonstrate, and when Brice grasps the rock just above our heads, I slide my hand under his to check the tension in his wrist. His skin is warm and smooth against mine. “Yeah,” I say, “gentle like you’re cupping an egg or a light bulb and trying not to break it.”
“I tend to prefer my grip firm,” he says with a smirk.
“Not a surprise that your primary concern is your own satisfaction.” I give him a mild look and keep my voice pitched low.
“My own satisfaction is always a concern,” he says, leaning close enough that his breath stirs the tendrils of dark hair that have escaped my ponytail, “but it’s never my only one.”
I can feel my jaw tighten at his obvious innuendo, and my heart kicks at his proximity. An unexpected awareness electrifies the space between us, and when our gazes connect, his expression shifts from brimming with amusement to one laced with curiosity.
“You’re not as immune to me as you’d like to believe,” he whispers.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Maren and Brice’s story is a rollercoaster of emotions!

As the youngest son of the royal family, Brice never really had to worry about anyone or anything other than himself. He has no responsibilities, nothing is expected of him, and he has more or less lived his life however he wanted it. Maren, meanwhile, has had a tough life and has been hurt so much by so many people. She detests Prince Brice, but has no choice but to train him for a charity race, much to her dismay. So what happens when Maren discovers that Prince Playboy isn’t all that he seems?

I loved how sweet Brice was with Maren, and how he respected and cared for her when she didn’t have much of that at all before. And she saw him for the man that he is, not the royal prince who grew up in the palace.

This royal romance is a royal gem! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

A masquerade ball brings together an NFL player and a penniless princess in this smart and sexy romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills.
Levelheaded Francesca Lane never thought she’d miss her own wedding. But when her fiancé betrays her, she puts on her wedding dress and ditches the altar for a masquerade ball—at an exclusive lifestyle club.
There, she meets unknown-to-her NFL star Tuck Avery, dressed as a prince and hiding behind a mask—he’s there to celebrate his birthday. For one night, Francesca and Tuck indulge in a wickedly incognito affair. No names. No strings. And the masks don’t come off.
Unfortunately, Francesca realizes quickly that her masked prince is the wealthy jock who lives in the penthouse of her apartment building. His hobbies include parties and supermodels—or so the tabloids say. Getting tangled up with a shallow jerk is the last thing Francesca needs right now, so she vows to keep Tuck from recognizing her (not that she’s his type anyway).
But fate has a teeny-tiny trick up her sleeve…a plus sign on a pregnancy test. Can this tormented prince accept love, or will he push his princess away forever?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Princess and The Player is a great follow-up to Beauty and the Baller! Tuck is Ronan’s best friend/former teammate, so the books are loosely connected, but Player is a complete standalone.

The book opens when Tuck and Francesca meet while wearing masks at a sex club neither of them have frequented before. It’s his birthday, but he’s mourning the crossroads he’s at facing the end of his career and his messed-up family life, and she’s mourning what would have been her wedding day and her cheating fiance. Their meeting started out as a bet, and their incredible connection led them to an incredible one-night stand.

But fate had plans for Tuck and Francesca, because they keep crossing paths. They live in the same building! They can’t deny the sparks between them, but Francesca believes Tuck to be a player and is determined to stay far away. Especially after she discovers that she’s pregnant and Tuck never wants a family.

While I hate it when the heroine puts off telling the hero that she’s pregnant in the surprise-baby trope, I did appreciate how that played into the development of Francesca and Tuck’s relationship. As a foster kid, all she’s ever wanted was a family. And he’s had nothing but disappointment in his life because of his family. As they spend time together, Tuck’s walls start coming down, and Fran realizes that she was wrong about him being a player, but that he’s a genuinely nice guy. But how can they make their situation work?

I also really enjoyed the supporting players. Jasper and Brogan and CeCe are all hoots, and I adored Mr. Darden and the Widow. Both Francesca and Tuck had families of their choosing, and I loved how they ultimately decided to choose each other as well. I just wish Fran would have told Tuck earlier about her pregnancy rather than hide it for so long.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Second Chance Mine by M. Robinson

Release Date: November 1

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson comes an

enemies second chance standalone romance.

You never forget your first love…

And I hadn’t.

Not her kiss.

Not her taste.

Not her touch.

Every stolen moment we had between us was forbidden.

She was off limits.

Especially to me.

I wish I could say I followed my own rules.

I didn’t.

I couldn’t.

I lost her trying to make her mine.

Because in the end…

She was always my brother’s best friend.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Second Chance Mine is a steamy enemies-to-lovers boss romance that closes out the Second Chance series by M. Robinson. Told in dual POV between the past and the present, Adrian and Paige’s is full of so many ups and downs as we get to see the heartbreak that tore them apart 10 years ago and how they come back together again.

Overall, this story is pretty low angst, and I hate when a best friend’s brother is “forbidden” just because it would go against some kind of bro code and the brother says she’s off limits. But that is the situation we have here with Paige and Adrian. However, when Paige and Adrian imploded all those years ago, she also lost her friendship with Cade. And to be honest, I didn’t like Cade all that much, so while I felt bad for Paige, I didn’t think it was a great loss.

Anyway…. it’s 10 years later and Paige is pushed into a situation where she is working as Adrian’s executive assistant thanks to her friend Belle (Second Chance Vow). As she stuffs down the feelings that return, Adrian decides that he has been given the opportunity to win back the one that got away. At first, winning her over isn’t so easy. But as he tries to protect Paige from a stalker, the dangerous situation pushes them closer together and Paige finds herself letting down all of those barriers that she’d built up to protect her heart.

Overall, this is a steamy second-chance romance with an alpha hero who is borderline obsessive, a healthy dose of dirty talk and suspense, and a whole lot of tension between the hero and heroine.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Mine To Love by Natasha Madison

Release Date: November 1

From USA Today bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a small town, surprise pregnancy romance.

Nothing says forever like two pink lines!

Presley
After my sisters’ disastrous weddings, I’m never going to get married.
I’ll just stay single forever.
It doesn’t matter that I’m in love with my brother’s best friend.
Or that Bennett and I shouldn’t even be friends with benefits.
Until the positive sign tells me I’m pregnant.

Bennett
I fell in love with Presley when she was eighteen and asked me for a favor.
She didn’t want to go to college a virgin.
I said no, but she kissed me, and I was lost in her.
Years later, I’ll take her with any rules she gives me.
She thinks this is just a fling. She’s wrong.
Because she’s always been mine to love.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
I adored Presley and Bennett’s story! The premise of Mine to Love was a little different than the other books in this series since Presley and Bennett have been involved in a casual friends with benefits relationship for over a decade and there isn’t a third person involved the way there was with her brother and sisters. But… there are a whole lot of denied feelings involved instead!

It’s clear how crazy Presley is about Bennett. And he, her. Yet while he would make it official in a heartbeat, she is afraid to even admit that they are dating. Her father’s death hit Presley harder than her siblings, and she doesn’t want to admit what Bennett means to her because the first engagement didn’t work out for her brother and sisters.

When Presley gets a positive pregnancy test, however, everything changes. And as much as she tries to keep Bennett in the casual zone, she can’t. But just when things are going great between them, a plot twist threatens to tear them apart. Will Presley finally fess up before she loses Bennett forever?

I loved, loved, loved this book! Natasha Madison once again created wonderful characters and a captivating storyline.

Meet Natasha Madison

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
