Title: My Perfect Enemy
Author: Jessica Prince
Series: Whitecap

Contemporary Romance; Small Town Romance; Enemies to Lovers; Single Dad; Office Romance

Rule number 1: Never fall for the enemy.
Rule number 2: Never get involved with a local.

Luna Copeland lives by those rules, which complicates things tremendously when her new boss turns out to be a former one-night stand. As if that isn’t bad enough, he’s also a world-class jerk. But she just can’t make herself stop thinking about their one night together.

When Nate Warren left Whitecap years ago, he was certain he wouldn’t come back. But when his daughter starts acting up and getting into trouble, the small coastal town proves to be the best place for her. With an unruly teen on his hands, the last thing he has time for is romance. Unfortunately, he can’t get his sassy assistant out of his head.

When ignoring their attraction fails, Nate decides he wants all in. He just has to convince Luna she wants the same.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Jessica Prince brings us back to Whitecap with My Perfect Enemy, a sexy small-town romance where a one-night-stand with a guy who ends up becoming her boss turns into the loving relationship that Luna never knew she wanted.

Nate and Luna were combustible the night they met at the dive bar she was working at, but when they met again several months later, they clashed like oil and water. His life was falling to pieces, and he was in the midst of relocating back to the hometown he’d left behind 20 years ago in order to give his troubled 14-year-old daughter, Evan, a solid home. Meanwhile, Luna watched her mom go through one horrible relationship after another, and never wanted to rely on a man the way her mom relied on boyfriends, so why was she feeling things she shouldn’t for her sexy boss?

As they spend more time together outside of the office, Luna begins to soften toward Nate and realizes that he’s not so bad after all. Another one-night-stand leads to a friends-with-benefits relationship, but when Nate changes the rules on her, Luna goes running scared. Can he convince her to give him a chance?

I really liked the development of this story, and how Evan played into it. I loved how the surly teenage girl blossomed into a beautiful young woman thanks to Luna’s influence, and how that changed her relationship with Nate for the better. My heart broke for the poor girl when the details about her mom can out, and I was so happy that she had Luna to lift her up.

This book was a sizzling read. Likable characters, easy to believe situations, and lots of sweet moments between Nate and Luna, Nate and Evan, and Luna and Evan. I really enjoyed getting to know the residents of Whitecap more, and can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

LB Dunbar delivers another great addition to the Lakeside Cottage series with Loving at 40. I’d been really curious about Archer after getting bits and pieces about him in the previous two books, and the guy I met in this book was a force to be reckoned with!

Archer and Jenna definitely get off on the wrong foot when he finds the raven-haired beauty asleep in his bed and nicknames her “Locks” — as in Goldilocks. But their romance evolves nicely and I fell hard for this pair. Archer has a lot of baggage he’s carrying around due to his job and a mission gone wrong, and everything about his life is all that Jenna fears due to the way her late husband died. They try to fight their feelings for a long time, but it becomes too much for either of them to deny. Unfortunately, when Archer’s past catches up with them, it makes a huge impact on their future.

There is some groveling that Archer has to do to make things up to Jenna, but man, once he decided he was all in, he was all in! His tattoo! Gah! I also really loved how smitten Archer was with Jenna’s little girls, and how the three of them made him feel at home for the first time in a really long time.

Trigger warning: This book states that there is some gun violence and the presence of guns around children. I thought LB Dunbar handled that very well, and it blended nicely with the greater story and all that Jenna had gone through previously.

This book ended on a whopper of an epilogue teasing Anna’s story with Mason to come next. And I have been waiting for it since the very first book!!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Hanson by Kat Savage

Release Date: May 26

Hanson Serrano is a complicated man—even his therapist tries to convince him to put his trust in someone. But the youngest member of the Bird’s Eye crew isn’t too concerned. He’s got no plans to settle down anytime soon.
That is, until he runs into Thea James—literally. One nasty spill on the sidewalk later, and this brooding Brazilian can’t take his eyes off her fiery red curls and curvy backside. Though, the interaction makes it clear he’ll have to work for this one.
Thea James is looking for something very specific—and Hanson Serrano isn’t it. Nevermind the fact that he’s tattooed from neck to toe, but he’s also much younger than her. She’s been down the bad boy road before and all she has to show for it is her single mom status and an ex that makes her life miserable.
When Thea finally agrees to one date in an effort to halt Hanson’s chase, she’s pleasantly surprised when he pulls out all the stops. In fact, it’s the best date she’s ever been on.
The pair eventually get tangled up—in their feelings and between the sheets. But between Hanson’s walls, Thea’s ex, and a nagging age gap, their blooming relationship feels like a shipwreck waiting to happen.
As the couple navigates this ocean of obstacles, will they give up and abandon ship or find a way to get in the lifeboat and row together?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Hanson was an excellent addition to the Men of Bird’s Eye series. I adored this age-gap romance, and was hooked on the chemistry between sexy tattoo artist Hanson and teacher Thea.

After a disastrous marriage, Thea thought she knew what she wanted — and it wasn’t a younger tattoo artist. But Hanson turned out to be all that she didn’t know she needed once she let herself open up to him. He had me at “the flours” — SWOON! He was so patient with her, establishing a friendship first as Thea’s son, Ethan, and Hawk’s stepdaughter, Ava, hung out. He was biding his time and when the opportunity struck, Hanson stepped in and Thea didn’t know what hit her.

I felt like I knew Hanson the least going into his book, and Kat Savage delivered a fantastic finale with his story. I am so going to miss the Bird’s Eye crew, but I am so glad that I got to know them!

Are you ready for The Southern Wedding Series?

Aren’t they?

Harlow

I promised him I would be there for the best day of his life.

Not thinking I wouldn’t be the one standing next to him.

But here I was attending the love of my life’s wedding day.

I smiled when I saw him and pushed back the tears that wanted to come out.

This was his day and I was going to fulfill my promise.

Travis

It was supposed to be the best day of my life.

But the second I got up, things started to fall apart.

The kitchen just caught on fire.

Flowers were from a funeral.

My bride-to-be just had an allergic reaction leaving by ambulance.

Oh and my ex-girlfriend just walked into the church.

They say you have to see the signs when they are right in front of you.

Maybe she was just mine to have.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
I would give Mine to Have 10 stars if I could! Travis and Harlow’s story checks all the boxes for an incredible second-chance romance with all the angst that I love. I connected with these characters so deeply and just adored them!

Mine to Have is a spinoff of Southern Comfort — Harlow is the daughter of Casey and Olivia. The last thing she ever expects is to receive a wedding invitation to her college boyfriend’s wedding…. and there is so much unfinished business between Harlow and Travis!

This story is a perfect exploration in the one that got away. Travis goes all out in winning Harlow back, and I loved every morsel of this brilliant, magical romance.

“It’s always been you.”

Bravo! I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left a review.

𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 (𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐞 #𝟏) 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄!

I want a girl I can’t have.

She’s my tutor.

My best friend’s girlfriend.

And my kryptonite.

She also looks really good in my T-shirt.

But she wants the golden boy, and I’m more of the villain type.

Or at least I was….

Until I saw her smile for the first time.

But the good guy she wants wouldn’t lust after his friend’s girlfriend.

And the good guy she’s with sure as hell shouldn’t be sneaking around behind her back.

So where does that leave me?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Don’t Let Me Fall is a perfectly perfect YA romance from Kelsie Rae, full of heat, full of chemistry, full of hate-to-love and a couple I adored.

Colt comes across as a bad guy, but he’s just a sweetheart underneath and I loved his connection with Ash. The only problem? She’s dating his roommate/high school friend.

There’s no cheating involved, since Ash has broken up with Logan before anything happens with Colt. And MAN was I glad when Logan broke up with her. She let him walk all over her, and I wanted to shake the girl during those first few chapters because he was such an ass. But the Ash who dates Colt later in the book is a different girl. She’s so much stronger than I had her pegged for, and she really comes into her own with the love and support of Colt.

I was shipping this couple, hard.

This book sets up a great new series with Colt’s other three roommates. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Offside With #55 by Piper Rayne

The last thing any professional hockey player wants is to be the old man in the game. The guy who doesn’t know when it’s time to retire. Still, I can’t bear the thought of leaving the game.

This past year I’ve reflected on all my regrets, and I told myself that once I retire it’ll be the time to settle down and start a family. But this is where it gets tricky.

I think I’ve found her—my Mrs. Although she’ll deny our connection to anyone who asks. We’ve been sleeping together casually and since I’m still playing hockey, I’ve let her get what she wants—me—whenever she wants.

After being told my career as a player is over, the owner of Florida Fury grants me a shot to stay in the game. A coaching position I didn’t know I wanted until it was offered. The catch? He’s also passing the family business down to his daughter.

Who’s his daughter?

The woman who’s been in and out of my bed for the past year. Which means the woman I intend to make my wife is now my new boss.

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I was sad to see the Hockey Hotties series come to an end, but it went out with a bang with Kane and Jana’s story!

I loved how this second chance romance unfolded. Jana calls off their no-strings relationship at the start of the book once she’s named owner and Kane is the new coach. But there is still such a sizzling hot attraction between them. Their banter as they butt heads over how to run the team is hot, and that all builds up to a fabulous explosion once they finally give in to what is between them.

Kane is so patient with Jana as she weighs whether she wants to he “all in” with a relationship. They both have some big issues in their past, and watching them work things out and come together to get their HEA was a bittersweet moments, knowing that it was the end of the series.

But a wonderful ending it is!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: On The Edge by Julia Connors

Release Date: May 18

A steamy second-chance romance set in the world of competitive skiing…

Once upon a time I had it all: an Olympic gold medal, a career as a professional ski racer, and a happily ever after so close I could almost touch it. Then my perfect life imploded in one tragic weekend.

Five years later I’ve rebuilt my life with the best girlfriends, the perfect new boyfriend, and a new career. Now my ex—the one who wrecked everything five years earlier—is back as the newest member of the National Ski Team and I’m forced to be his physical therapist.

My days are filled with him. He’s constantly shirtless and sweaty and sexy as sin, and trying to make me fall in love with him again.

But I built these walls around my heart for a reason—and his presence is threatening to undo everything I’ve created without him. With the stakes this high and the sexual tension this hot, this could all go so very wrong.

Or, maybe we’re on the edge of getting everything we ever wanted.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I love a good second-chance romance when there is a lot of hurt and history between the characters and Julia Connors delivered with her debut novel.

It’s been five years since Nate broke Jackson’s heart, and he really goes all out to make it up to her and win her back in On The Edge. Does she want him to? No. She’s got a boyfriend. Does she make it easy for him? No, he has to work for it. But it’s a great journey as these two characters work out their issues, talk about their messy past, and find a way to move forward.

On The Edge is a sweet slow burn with lots of tension between Jackson and Nate, a swoony hero and a great Grand Gesture to prove once and for all that she’s his endgame. I thought Julia Connors wrote a well-developed story with likable main characters and a nice set of secondaries who piqued my attention for further books to come down the road!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Meet Julia Connors

Julia Connors grew up on the warm and sunny West Coast, but her first decision as an adult was to trade her flip-flops for snow boots and move to Boston.

She’s been enjoying everything that New England has to offer for over two decades, and now that she’s acclimated to the snowy winters and finally found all the places to get good sushi and tacos, she has zero regrets.

You can usually find her in front of her computer, but when she stops writing she’s most likely to be found outdoors, preferably with a pair of skis or snowshoes strapped to her feet in winter, or on a paddleboard in the summer.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Married to the Tight End by Carina Rose

 Release Date: May 17

Have you ever felt as though you were having an out-of-body experience? An ethereal feeling that you were floating in the atmosphere looking down on a situation? If not, let me tell you, it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Imagine you were at your best friend’s engagement party in Vegas. You were super excited because you were the maid of honor and the best man was the hottest football player you’d ever seen. Even this guy’s position as tight end was appropriate for his, well . . . tight end.

Anyway, there was something about his cocky attitude that ruffled your feathers and turned you on at the same time. Maybe it was the way he challenged you or because women seemed to flock to the gorgeous man. But according to him, he only had eyes for you. It didn’t matter if he was kidding or not, because you weren’t in the market for a serious relationship.

Then, for some reason, you engaged in a drinking game. Because why not, right? You were in Vegas after all. Well, let me tell you why not, because the next morning you noticed a silver band on your left ring finger. And adding salt to that tequila-induced wound, there was one on his too.

Yes, you read that right. Me, Alexa Barton, preferably always the bridesmaid and never the bride, married the uber-sexy, and let’s not forget cocky, football player, Jackson Cartwright.

I was a cliché. A married cliché. Whose “husband” wasn’t in a hurry to get an annulment and vowed to prove that we were meant to be together.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

What happened in Vegas follows Alexa and Jackson home in this indulgent romcom by Carina Rose. There’s an underlying attraction between Alexa and Jackson, as their best friends are engaged, but neither of them ever acted on it. Besides, she is fiercely independent as a boss babe with no desire to get married, and he only plans on getting married once and is in no place in his life or career to tie the knot.

Except… when they accidentally get married by an Elvis impersonator, Jackson convinces Alexa to stay together until after Reese and Trent’s wedding — and plans to use that time to convince her they are meant to be.

This story is all kinds of sweet and swoony. I laughed at the visual of Jackson sleeping on her couch, and I swooned when he showed up to help out at the bakery. There is some drama that occurs thanks to his horrible father, but it’s resolved relatively quickly with a wonderful kiss and make up.

I did not read Love in the End Zone first — I wish I had because I loved Married to the Tight End so much and would have loved to seen Alexa and Jackson as Reese and Trent’s best friends. But this book easily stands on its own merits.

Adorable.

𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗕 Want to know what happens to a man who barely claws his way out of a tragedy, only to fall right into the arms of the one girl in the world he can never have? Another tragedy, that’s what. When I was six years old, my father made a choice that altered the course of my entire life. Because of what he did, the only girl I ever loved became the only girl I couldn’t have. In a lot of ways, I did have her… I had her first steps, her first words, her first smile. I had her milestones, her heartbreaks, her dreams. I had her heart so woven in with mine, I didn’t know where she ended, and I began. Only, as the years pressed on, lines became blurred—and the blurrier the line, the easier it is to cross. They say tragedy comes in threes. For me, that was true. The first one changed me, the second one broke me, and the third one healed me. But at the center of all that tragedy… there is a love story. And at the center of that love story, There is June. GOODREADS ➜ https://bit.ly/JF-GR June-First-Available-Now

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Rainbows
Oh, my heart. Brant and June’s story is heartbreaking, soul-crushing, uplifting, hard-fought and just simply phenomenal. Jennifer Hartmann is an author that has been on my radar for a while now, and June First is the first book I’ve read of hers. And I was blown away. June and Brant remind me of Jacob and Renesmee from Twilight — how she branded him the day she was born. That is almost exactly what happens between June and Brant when he gives his best friend’s baby sister a stuffed elephant when she is just a few days old. This slow-burn story spans decades as Brant and June’s relationship builds and their special connection becomes unbreakable. Along the way, it is full of so much heartbreak, but in the end, this is a masterpiece of a story about forgiveness, second chances, true love, and healing. I highlighted the hell out of this book — sad passages, happy passages, ones that made me smile, ones that made me cry. It’s raw, it’s gritty, it’s full of family drama and a little boy who, despite all the bad that happened to him, loved unconditionally. To borrow from June’s dad, Andrew, June First is a remarkable story. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I didn’t realize until I dove into Only Rivals that it is a next-generation spinoff series connecting Charity Ferrell’s Blue Beech and Twisted Fox series! OMG! I am HERE for it all!

Jax (the son of Maliki and Sierra from Just Roommates) and Amelia (the daughter of Silas and Lola from Last Call) have been rivals since they were practically in diapers. Their parents are friends, their fathers are business partners, and Jax and Amelia have always known how to push each other’s buttons. The story starts a few months after Amelia’s fiance/Jax’s best friend, Chris, has committed suicide, which Jax blames her for. And now Chris has left his half of the brewery he and Jax own to Amelia.

Well, we all know that there is a fine line between love and hate. And OMG this book gutted me. Amelia and Jax have such a deep history and there is SO MUCH between them. It’s ugly between them at first, but they both eventually show such vulnerability to each other. Jax makes some mistakes along the way and it’s a rollercoaster of emotions before they get there, but this is a wonderfully complex story of grief, forgiveness, moving on, letting go, and getting back the one that got away.

I can’t wait to see what’s next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
