Sunny Shelly’s Review: Heart of Stone by KK Allen

Release Date: September 27

Benson Bexley has a heart of stone.

Apparently, nothing changes.

When he returns home after a decade gone, I recognize him right away.

How could I forget him?

He’s the same cocky flirt who slid dirty poetry to me in art class.

With the same stone-cold stare that shields his soul from the world.

And that same sharp-edged jaw that cuts straight through a heart like a dagger.

Fortunately, I see right through his arrogant charm.

Even better, he doesn’t remember who I am.

And I have no intention of reminding him.

After all, it’s only a matter of time until his nomadic life takes him away again.

When he relentlessly pursues me, I devise an evil plan.

Play along with his dirty, poetic charm.

And then give him a taste of his own medicine.

Revenge.

It’s not in my nature.

But Benson Bexley deserves nothing less.

It’s time for that heart of stone to shatter.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Holy moly, broody hero! Benson and Brooklyn are on fire in Heart of Stone. I really, really, REALLY didn’t like this dude when I started reading this book, but that was the point. Because KK Allen somehow made a totally despicable guy into a swoony hero by the end of this book. Benson’s character went through such a transformation, and I was rooting for him to get the girl.

A constant thread throughout the Camp Bexley series is how a family tragedy impacted the lives of the brothers, and Benson was hit hard after his twin brother died. As a result, he’s become a guarded, cocky, aloof man and when he returns to town after a decade away and doesn’t remember Brooklyn — the girl whose heart he crushed — she takes an opportunity to get some payback.

Of course, things don’t go quite as Brooklyn planned because, underneath that cocky exterior, Benson is a tortured soul in a prison of his own making. I loved the journey that Benson and Brooklyn went on in finding peace and a happily ever after. Heart of Stone is a wonderful story of redemption, forgiveness and second-chances, all wrapped up in a heartwarming love story.

I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left a review.
