Sunny Shelly’s Review: Back To Shore, by Taylor Danae Colbert

Release Date: August 11

When I was sixteen, I was madly in love with Ryder Casey.

He was kind, he was loving, he was everything.

Then he killed my twin brother, the night before our seventeenth birthday.

Accident or not, he crushed me in more ways than one. So I turned him away and never looked back. I haven’t forgotten. And I certainly haven’t forgiven.

Now, I’m sort of a hot mess. I’m in between jobs, essentially homeless, and newly divorced.

But as I try to put the pieces of my life back together, I know that Ryder’s the one that’s missing. I have to find him, and I have to forgive him.

And when I do, I learn that he’s not exactly living the easiest life. He needs someone. He needs me.

Despite everything, I know I should be there for him. But doing that means I’ll have to put our past behind us.

And I’ll have to try my hardest not to fall back in love with the man who broke my heart beyond repair.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Taylor Danae Colbert is a new-to-me author, and I was quite taken by the blurb for Back To Shore. And once I started reading it, I could not put this book down. It is so much more than a second chance romance. It is full of pain, hope, forgiveness and righting wrongs — and I binged this book in a single reading overnight.

Following her divorce, Mila moves back home with her parents, into her childhood bedroom. The reasons for her divorce aren’t exactly clear in the beginning, and it seems like she is the one who wanted the divorce, not her ex. But there is something that has Mila so incredibly unsettled, and he’s hoping to make peace with that so she can start to heal. And making peace with that means facing her teenage sweetheart, Ryder, for the first time in 12 years.

Ryder was once her everything, but something happened between them that upended Mila’s world, when Ryder was responsible for her twin’s death, and made her hate him. But there’s a fine line between love and hate, as Mila learns when she returns to the lakeside town where she and Ryder spent two incredible summers together. And as much as Mila needs to find a way to forgive Ryder to move on with her life, Ryder needs Mila to forgive him as well. He’s carried so much grief around with him due to their past in the years they have been apart, and their unfinished business has not been easy on Ryder. He has been through more in the past 12 years than Mila could ever imagine, and as he lets her back into his life, Mila rediscovers how much she still loves him and how wrong she was about their past.

By returning back to the shore, Mila also returns to the love of her life — but in the end, will she find the peace and happiness she’s been chasing?

This book was so well-written. I felt like the chapters just flew by. And when all that Ryder’s been dealing with in his life is revealed — well, that crushed me. It was a double whammy that I wasn’t expecting, but it beautifully propels the story for this couple and their second chance at forever.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I have been a big fan of Lisa Suzanne’s rockstar romances since the first trilogy of Mark and Reese from Vail. I’ve read that whole series and the whole MFB series, and was wondering how the heck she was going to pull off this book, finding Kane’s replacement in MFB. And it was brilliant. Not only did she introduce two new characters in Gage and Lexi whom I LOVED and fit in well with the MFB family, but the story itself was gripping, set in MFB’s reality show as Gage and Lexi are among the contestants competing to be the band’s new bassist.

A few days before the show starts filming, Gage and Lexi meet in the hotel bar. They click immediately, and spend a magical weekend together. Neither one of them wants to leave that Sunday, but neither of them are in the right place to explore it further. And neither one of them was truthful about why they really are in Los Angeles, due to the show’s non-disclosure agreement. So when they run into each other at the house a few hours later, they are both blindsided. Gage says something out of shock and surprise, Lexi replies from a place of hurt, and the whole thing escalates to the point that they hate one another. Except that they are madly in love with one another. And that complicates things when they are competing for the same spot in a band.

This book was nothing like what I was expecting, and beyond my expectations. The hurt and longing and fear and anxiety just rolled off of both of them. Professionally, if one wins, the other loses. And personally, they both feel like they’ve lost the other half of their soul before they were ever really able to get their relationship started.

In between Lexi and Gage’s chapters are some chapters from Dax’s POV as the band deliberates over the contestants, which I thought was a great plot device in giving the reader another point of view and insight to the other side of the show’s production. There is some great catch-up with the MFB members and their wives/fiancees, as well as a great scene with Mark and Reese from Vail.

I devoured this book in a day. And I really didn’t know how I wanted the competition to go regarding who got the spot as MFB’s bassist. But the outcome was the absolute best thing that could have happened for both of them, and the bonus epilogue was a killer.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Lorelei James is a new-to-me author, so I was not familiar with her writing style or the Want Me series. It took me a while to really get into Gabi and Nolan’s story in I Want You To Want Me, but I found this book to be an enjoyable slow burn romance.

Apparently, Gabi and Nolan have crossed paths in the previous book because of some shared connections, like her working for his brother. They didn’t exactly hit it off then, so she kind of doesn’t like him by the time their story picks up in this book when she’s dumped by her boyfriend. They still don’t really get along even after that, and Gabi has kind of written him off especially after she overhears him saying some not too flattering things about her. But there is more to Gabi than meets the eye, and after she puts Nolan in his place, these two kind of start over and get to know one another.

I liked that this sports romance had the heroine as the athlete. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies for Gabi and Nolan, but they get to a place where they can turn to each other for support and they build a solid friendship before things take a romantic turn.

This was a fun and flirty slow burn romance. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

BLURB:

USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the fourth novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and finally finding that swoony feeling.

I’m single . . . so single it’s painful.

Yup, ladies, Brig Knightly–that’s me–is still a lonely bachelor, stumbling through the streets of Port Snow, looking for the girl he’s supposed to end up with.

That is until my brother, Rogan, presents me with the opportunity of a lifetime. The Summer of Love, a secret pen pal program in Port Snow is looking for applicants and I’m the perfect fit.

I couldn’t sign up fast enough.

I found myself quickly falling in love with a pair of red lips at the bottom of a letter. Just like in the movies . . .

Life could not have been better, that was until I started hanging out with Ruth Barber. Starting a new business right next to my shop, I found myself gravitating toward her. Her smile, her humor . . . her tea sandwiches.

My attraction for Ruth came in full force, leaving me dazed, confused, and *ahem* excited.

As new feelings for two women come to a screeching halt, I have to figure out who to choose. But when I discover my pen pal is Ruth, it might be too late.

All I want in life is to experience that swoony feeling . . . but I think I might have just missed my chance.

PROLOGUE:

**BRIG**

Hands stuffed in my pockets, I look at Reid while nibbling on the corner of my lip. “But—”
“Brig, I swear to God,” Reid says, dragging his hand down his face while we make our way past Jackson Square, toward Café Du Monde. “Do not ask about your penis turning green one more goddamn time. We all looked at it. It’s flesh colored. Any signs of green you might have seen was from the shit lighting in the bathroom. Now, drop it.”
“Yeah, okay,” I sigh, even though I don’t feel convinced.
Something happened last night.
Something terrifying.
Something that has left me shaking in my shoes—because I don’t wear boots—wanting to rip my pants down repeatedly to make sure things are still intact.
Two days ago, I turned twenty-one, and to celebrate the youngest Knightly’s freedom to hold a beer in his hand legally, my three brothers took me to New Orleans to party in style. And we did . . . up until last night, when the depths of hell tried to swallow us all whole.
Mom warned us, saying, “Don’t get into any trouble.”
My dad slapped the back of our heads before we left and told us to use our brains.
Even our sister, the oldest and wisest of the Knightly children, stared us in the eyes and told us not to do anything stupid.
And yet, we failed all of them.
Have you ever been to New Orleans? Neither had I, but I’d heard great things about the place. Drinking in the streets and peekaboo boobs on every corner.
Beignets and rice and beans.
Scandalous fun.
Sounded like a great time.
But after doing extensive research before the trip—I like to plan ahead—the one thing I wanted to avoid, the one thing that made me extremely nervous, was the voodoo magic prevalent on the grimy cobblestone streets.
You know what I’m talking about. The dark stuff, the chilling life-altering spells that can change you as a man . . . as a human.
*Whispers* Black magic . . .
We did a great job avoiding any and all scary things, until last night, when I inadvertently ran smack dab into the palms of evil.
Shocking news: I was drunk. I couldn’t tell if I was walking on cobblestone streets last night or lobster rolls—that’s how far gone I was—so when I stumbled over a palm reader’s table and broke it, I wasn’t exactly aware of the severity of my mistake.
She roared with displeasure.
Her eyes tore through me with veritable hatred that shook me to the tip of my dick.
And her gangly fingers rattled while she spoke vehemently.
Terrified out of my wits, I held up my palm while my brothers tossed her twenty bucks and asked her to read it.
I wish I could remember what she said.
The future she spoke of is all a blur at this point. Pretty sure she said something about how incredibly handsome I am and how I outshine my brothers with the curves of my jaw, but I can’t be quite sure. The boys deny that part of the story, but they don’t deny the stark hatred that spit like venom from the petrifying woman’s mouth.
My brothers, of course, didn’t make the situation any better by making fun of her predictions. They actually sparked the flame that set the fire. I might be telling this wrong—you know, completely wasted and all—but the moment the palm reader turned an evil shade of hate, I felt every ounce of fun-loving booze seep from the bottom of my feet and out into the streets, sobering me up to the point of understanding.
In a whirlwind of vengeful movements, her arms waved about, the wind swirled around us, trash from the streets danced around my jean-covered legs, and the palm reader’s eyes turned yellow—I confirmed that fact with all three brothers this morning.
Indeed, her eyes were yellow.
And then she said something I will never forget . . .
This wretch of a wench cloaked in the devil’s garb took our fate into her own hands and punished us with broken love.
Broken.
Love.
If you know me at all, you’d know that would cut deep to my very being.
Then Reid said something about her telling us our dicks were going to fall off or turn green; can’t be sure, because I was stunned. Stunned with the notion that my entire life goal of getting married and becoming a doting husband was quickly stripped from my soul and set into blazing embers, never to be seen again.
The miscreant cursed the one thing I strive for as a man . . . that swoony feeling of being wrapped up in a warm, safe relationship with a woman.
And I can’t shake it.
No matter what my brothers say, no matter how many times they tell me to drop it, I keep worrying. I keep remembering the whirl of evil that was cast upon us. I keep trying to decode the meaning of it all.
Are we truly cursed?
“There’s a table over there,” Griffin, my oldest brother, says, making a beeline toward the back corner of the incredibly busy beignet-making icon. We came here for their famous beignets when we first arrived and decided to indulge one more time.
We catch a flight to Port Snow this afternoon and before we get back to our gossip-loving town, I want to set some things straight.
Taking seats, we quickly put in an order for beignets and a café au lait each, and when the waitress leaves, I say, “Can we talk about last night?”
Reid groans and slouches in his chair. He’s in a shit mood, and I’m not sure if it’s from the phone call he got last night that he’s not talking about or if it’s because he’s hung over. Maybe a combo of both. “Can we not?”
“Aren’t you worried?” I ask, looking around at my brothers. I can’t possibly be the only one who’s concerned here.
But it seems like I might be.
Griffin is texting. His wife, I’m sure.
Rogan is staring at the trifold menu on the table.
And Reid is rubbing his eyes with his palms, looking like he wants to be anywhere but here.
“Uh, hello? Do you guys not remember what happened last night? The whole alarming witch in a cloak thing, waving her dangly bone fingers at us. Table-breaking, palm-reading curses being flung about like beads off a balcony? Ring a bell?”
Griffin sets his phone down and lets out a deep breath. His tone is the even, oldest-brother sensible voice. “We were drunk last night, Brig.”
“Yeah, we were, but it doesn’t negate the fact that we all woke up with the same story this morning. She cursed us. You’re telling me none of you are concerned?” I glance around to all three pairs of blue eyes, the same blue eyes I share, and none of them are returning the look. Which tells me they’re not willing to admit they’re just as scared as I am.
I poke Rogan in the side. “Hello, are you listening?”
“Trying not to,” he says, his fingers pressing to his left eye. “Fuck, my head is pounding.” Rogan is my second oldest brother, the quiet and annoyed one. He’s had a rough go at life and barely cracks a smile anymore. He’s more interested in punishing himself for the decisions he’s made in the past than in parting the dark cloud that hangs over his head so he can experience the world. As a retired football player, if pushed too hard, he’s been known to fight back. I think I’ll pass on leaning on him now.
“Griff.” I turn to the reasonable one in the group. “You saw it all, the way she spouted off that little limerick about broken love. She came up with that out of nowhere. It rhymed and everything. Who does that? Who wishes broken love on unsuspecting tourists? Frankly, it’s fucked up.”
The waitress drops off our food and drinks. We give her a mumbled thank you before she takes off to serve another table in the busy outdoor seating area.
Mouth full of beignet and powdered sugar coating his lips, Griffin says, “If she was half the palm reader she said she was, then she would have known that I was already married and this curse she set upon us was flawed. Yeah, was it strange that there was wind whipping around when she raised her arms—”
“The wind was weird,” Rogan says.
“Wind freaked me out,” Reid grumbles while bringing his coffee up to his lips.
“Now you chime in,” I say with an eye roll.
“Can I finish?” Griff asks, sounding annoyed. We all silence ourselves with bites into our beignets. “The wind was a strange coincidence, but I also think she was deranged. There’s no merit to what she said, and I think we would waste time thinking about it anymore than we have. Let’s just enjoy breakfast and then get the hell out of here.”
“Agreed,” Rogan says.
“Yeah,” Reid murmurs.
“But—”
They all shoot me a death glare, and I snap my mouth shut.
I’m outnumbered, and even if I try to press it, they’re not going to change their minds. They’re chalking this experience up to what seems like a drunken it-was-all-an-illusion-we’ll-soon-forget night.
But just a quick glance around the table, and I don’t buy it.
Worried brows.
Keeping to themselves.
Shifty eyes.
They’re thinking about it just as much as I am.
Listen to me, to the words I have spoken.
From this day on, your love will be broken.
It isn’t until your minds have matured
That the weight of this curse will forever be cured.
Might not seem like a big deal, but I have a bad feeling our worlds are about to be flipped upside down.
And boy, were our lives flipped.
Griffin lost his wife.
Rogan’s high school sweetheart re-emerged with a vengeance.
Reid’s restaurant, his pride and joy, was stolen from him.
And me . . . well, I haven’t been in a relationship since the fateful day when my taut and beautiful ass tumbled over a palm reader’s table. Just bad luck? That everything good, everything we loved was taken away from us?
No.
It was the curse, but surely things would improve on their own. Wouldn’t they?
From this day on, your love will be broken.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I am so sad to see the Getting Lucky series come to an end! I have loved spending time in Port Snow with the Knightly family as the brothers try to break the unlucky in love curse and find happiness.

Brig is a moron. An adorable, loyal, sweet, handsome moron. Of the four brothers, he took the curse the hardest, and has been so obsessed with trying to break the curse that he can’t see what — or who — is right in front of him. The local coffeeshop owner, Ruth has had a crush on Brig forever. But he’s barely noticed her as anyone other than the girl who he buys his coffee from. So when Ruth figures out that Brig is her secret penpal — at the same time that he’s agreed to help her open a new teahouse — she’s afraid to let him know that she is the woman behind the whoopie pies he so loves.

So Brig is a moron. It’s a good thing he’s pretty. He’s so clearly conflicted about wanting to make sure that his penpal is his soulmate and his growing feelings for Ruth. The doofus can’t even piece it together when Ruth tells him the exact same things she’d written to him. He just thinks that Ruth and his “Summer” would be great friends.

The whole thing is ridiculous, yet Meghan Quinn writes it so well that it doesn’t SEEM ridiculous. She’s a master storyteller, and Brig’s road to breaking the curse and opening his eyes to what is right in front of him is a wonderfully sweet journey. Brig and Ruth are so sweet together, and the slow burn build-up between them is a great payoff. Even if he retreats into himself after “sacred shower sex” and ruins it all. I was cheering Ruth on as my heart was breaking for the poor girl when she finally told Brig enough was enough.

If you read MQ’s Two Wedding Crashers, you will enjoy the catch-up with Rylee (who is Ruth’s best friend) and Beck, who are now parents of triplets. I loved the advice that Rylee gives to Ruth, and how Ruth always fires back that her love life is not one of Rylee’s romance novels!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt

I did everything I could to not make eye contact.
Actually, my MO for the past week had been no contact period, but that was a little hard to do when the guy you’re dodging knows things about you. Specifically, the lock code on your front door.
“You can go home, Hudson. I’m fine.” Out of my periphery, I watched him perch his hands on his hips.
“No,” he argued. “Not until we figure this out.”
So he had noticed my ghosting. I hoped he wasn’t as good at calling my bluff.
“There is no this.”
“What about what you said at the—”
“Yeah, I must have had a cold or something. Whatever it was, I’m over it.”
Lies. Lies. Lies. Hopefully, I’d start believing them.
“Over it?”
“Yep. Hey, how was your date?” My topic-swapping skills were on point. When he stopped, only an arm’s length away, I finally seized what scrap of pride I had and looked up into his blue eyes. “Are you seeing her again?”
He huffed. “Well, that’s kind of up to you.”
“Me?” I dropped the spoon into the sink and put the ice cream down so I could cross my arms over my chest. “What do I have to do with it?”
His lids fell shut, and he tipped his head at the ceiling, stretched his neck from side to side, and then brought his gaze back to mine. “Kate seems to think that, maybe, I have a thing…for you.”
My face flushed hot, and I wondered if maybe I’d fallen down trying to get out of my leather skirt earlier and I was dreaming, passed out on my bedroom floor. The issue with that theory was I could smell him, feel the warmth from his body in front of me, and see his heartbeat thumping in the vein in his neck.
This was real, but I still wasn’t sure I could handle it.
“Well, that’s just, uh, dumb,” I contended weakly. Shaking my head to rattle myself back to sanity, I asked, “W-why did she say that?” I tried to laugh, but it was as fake as my gusto.
“Because, apparently, I talked about you the whole night.”
Okay, I was wrong. I’d thought riding in a car with him and seeing him shirtless and watching him play with Jack and seeing how much he loved my family and having him touch me and avoiding him all week had been torture.
This moment was a whole new level of torment.
“So?” I said childishly.
It didn’t matter how I felt or what I wanted. I couldn’t just leap into his arms and expect everything to turn out the way it was supposed to. That’s not how my life worked.
“So I need to find out if this, whatever’s been building between us, is something.”
Wouldn’t that be nice? Up until that very second, it had all been one-sided. I’d racked my brain all week to understand why I’d felt the crazy things I did about him.
“How you gonna do that?”
“We’re going to kiss,” he stated very matter-of-factly, and then he closed the distance between our bodies.
“We are?” I whispered. My voice had all but left the building.
“Unless you stop me right now.”
I wanted to.
I didn’t want to.
I was scared.
I was excited.
But mostly, I wasn’t stopping him.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

When The Time Is Right is another great collab from M. Mabie and Aly Martinez. This is a great story about letting go of the past, and what to do when you recognize your soulmate is your best friend — but the timing is not right for you to be together.

Hudson and Lex are super close friends, as he is best friends with her brother, Cal. The fourth in their circle is their other best friend, Lauren, who Hudson had a one-night fling with that produced his 7 year old son, Jack.

The book opens six years earlier, when Lex’s boyfriend passes in a horrible accident. The prologue gutted me, and it perfectly set the stage for how Hudson steps into the protector and fix-it mode for Lex moving forward. When their feelings begin to change and they realize that they mean more to one another than just being friends, Lex is understandably wary to jump into a relationship with Hudson. They easily transition from best friends to boyfriend and girlfriend, which I loved because there is so much history between them. So when the ghosts of Lex’s past resurface and threaten to ruin their future, Hudson graciously bows out until the timing is right for Lex to fully be with him.

I loved how this bigger group made an unconventional family with Lex’s parents, Lauren and her parents, Cal. These people are tight, and it comes across on the page. So when Lauren makes a major life decision without having discussed it first with Hudson — or anyone else in the “family” — I loved how Lex ripped into her, making Lauren see how she was affecting all of them. Yet another obstacle for Hudson and Lex to get their happily ever after due to bad timing.

This book follows When The Walls Come Down, as Lex works for Maggie and Shane at their new consulting business in Atlanta. There are a few cameos from the Old Man and the Peach, which I loved having read their book.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
When a random drug test shows performance-enhancing drugs, Damon Prescott is about to lose all that he has worked for. As the star quarterback sets out to prove that he is being framed, he falls in love with the sexy PI, Evie, working his case.

Dare To Tempt follows Dare To Resist; Quinnlan calls in a favor from her friend Evie to look into her brother-in-law Damon’s situation. Evie and Damon pretend to be dating so that she can try to figure out who may be after him, and it’s not long before the lines blur between the fake relationship and some very real feelings.

Damon and Evie have great banter and chemistry. These two have some ups and downs as they go from pretending to bona fide romance, but it’s a sexy and sweet journey for these two. They don’t really like each other much at first, thanks to some preconceived notions, but it’s a joy to see them discover something unexpected in the other. They both are definitely carrying around their fair share of baggage, and Damon and Evie are a classic case of a commitaphobe being brought to his knees by a smart, strong heroine.

This book is set in the larger Dare family world, so there are some catch-ups with a few of those characters, and we get to know the Prescott siblings more as well. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blurb:
I met Alessandra at a party. Tried to impress her. Was almost positive I was going to fail.

I think I said something along the lines of, “I’m a Goat called Fish who’s hung like a bull—but not really. I’m actually pretty average.” Smooth. I know. Try not to be jealous.

When she laughed—and I mean, really laughed—I knew she wasn’t like the other girls I’d been meeting on tour. Hell, she wasn’t even in the same stratosphere as those fangirls and gold-diggers.

At one point during the party, Alessandra said, “There’s nothing like a girl’s first love.” I knew she was talking about the first smash hit by my band, 22 Goats. Alessandra said it was the first song she’d heard by us and it “hit her like a ton of bricks.” Ironic, seeing as how I was having the same reaction from being in her presence.

I made it my mission to impress her. Give her the kiss of a lifetime that night. But since I’ve always been the dude with zero game, nothing went according to plan.

I’m not giving up, though. I’m going to win this girl over. I’m done sitting on the sidelines, watching the bad boy getting the girl. This time, the nice guy will finish first. Even if it’s the last thing he’ll do.

Smitten is an all-new standalone friends to lovers romance!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I adored this book! That cover is amazing, and really captures nice guy Fish’s personality! I am a sucker for the celebrity and the ordinary girl, so this rockstar romcom was right up my alley. And Ally and Fish were a delight!

She’s completely star-struck when she meets Fish at a party, but she holds her own and these two have amazing chemistry. It’s funny, heartfelt, romantic, sweet and all kinds of good. I loved that Matthew doesn’t see himself as the hot rockstar he is. He will forever think of himself as the dorky kind of geeky kid, and that is so endearing in this book.

I was totally Smitten! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

SYNOPSIS

Nathan Mercer, the only man in my life.

Falling for him was never an option.

We met ten years ago, when we started at the same company on the same day.

With being new in town and nobody else to rely on, we quickly became friends.

And while Nathan went on to rule San Francisco, I’m still doing the same job with the same people.

We finish each other’s sentences, we spend Christmas together and he sleeps at my house more than his.

He’s beautiful…. beyond belief.

In another life, he’s probably my soul mate.
However, lately things have changed. He’s started looking at me differently.

His eyes drop to my lips as I speak.

His hugs are tighter…. longer.

Our fights are more passionate, his jealousy insane.

I know it’s all in my head….it has to be.

They say to never love someone who treats you like you’re ordinary.

I don’t, to him I’m a queen.

But our story is complicated.

And as much as I love Nathan Mercer with all of my heart.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This book was not what I was expecting! I never suspected the reason why Nathan was so forbidden as a boyfriend for Eliza was the actual reason why they weren’t together.

Nathan struggles A LOT as he goes back and forth with his feelings for Eliza and whether to act on them. And there is a lot of hurt on both sides — unintended, but hurt nonetheless — as they try to navigate their situation. Is Nathan only using Eliza because he suddenly (unconsciously or not) realized that he wants a family? How did he just suddenly develop feelings for his best friend after 10 years? Is Eliza setting herself up for a lifetime of hurt and are her insecurities that he will return to his former life valid? Is Nathan right for feeling hurt that Eliza should be the one person to truly know his heart and he feels like she doesn’t?

This book was a lot to digest. But I was happy to see these two work out their issues and find a happy life.

What bugged me, however, was looking past the phrases and bits of dialog that are clearly not American by a non-American author setting a book in an American city. It’s always a pet peeve of mine.

But overall, Our Way is a winding story of twists and turns as best friends Eliza and Nathan try to figure out how to move from best friends and roommates to life partners. I received an advanced story and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Knox, by Prescott Lane

From USA Today bestselling author Prescott Lane comes a standalone second-chance romance between a Hollywood heartthrob and the small-town girl he left behind…

Knox by Prescott Lane is now live!

Sexiest man alive, scene stealer, Hollywood headliner.

That’s what the world calls him. I’ve got more colorful names for him, all of which would be bleeped out if I was on air doing my radio show. Even if he hadn’t broken my heart, he would just be Knox to me. Not a famous movie star.

Just a boy.

The boy who grew to be my first love.

That is, until he ripped my heart out of my chest and stepped on it, live on the red carpet.

I thought that was all behind me. Until he decided to come waltzing back into my life. Granted, he looked hot as heck doing it, but that’s neither here nor there.

He may have acted alongside some of Hollywood’s hottest “it” girls, but being my leading man is a much harder part to win.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Knox is a swoony second chance romance about first loves, forever loves and the one who got away.

Five years after they have broken up, Knox is now a mega movie star. His college sweetheart, Mae, is the one he’s never gotten over. One night, he hears her voice on a radio show and is suddenly transported back in time and wants to reconnect with his lost love.

Ok, so it bugged me that it took hearing Mae on the radio to want to win her back. It never occurred to him to try to contact her earlier? Once I got past that, I was all on board with this reunion. Knox really works hard to make their long-distance relationship work, and make sure that Mae is comfortable in his fast-paced Hollywood life. Mae has some barriers up, rightfully so, but Knox makes the best swoony gesture to remind her of who they really are and how great they were together. But when a crazed fan begins to threaten Mae’s life, will Knox be able to protect her and her loved ones?

I loved, loved, loved how Prescott Lane uses the cassette tapes between Knox and Mae to flash back on their younger years together. It really gave me a sense of just how much these two meant to one another. The resolution of the stalker was quite clever, even if I did suspect who was behind the fan mail.

I loved that tease for Knox’s brother, Ryder, and can’t wait to read his book! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

What happens when your boss catches you making scans of your

yourself.

Somehow though, he’s more known for being New York’s hottest bachelor.
Not like I have any time to drink in his features with all the work he’s

more irresistible.

If things keep going this way I’m not sure if he’s either going to fire or f*ck

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3.5 Stars

Desk Banger is a solid debut novel from KS Rochell. Amber is sweet and sassy, a bit naive with starts in her eyes. And Nicholas is your stereotypical grumpy boss. This workplace romance is hot and steamy, a great beach or pool day read.

Some of the dialogue and exposition felt clunky and unrefined, but I am chalking that up to this book being the author’s first. Otherwise, Desk Banger is a steamy rompfest between an alphahole attorney and the paralegal he can’t get out of his mind.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
