My name is Zayn Bronsyn,

and I think I screwed up.

I wasnโ€™t supposed to fall,

especially not for her.

Sheโ€™s in a league of her own,

and Iโ€™m just her brotherโ€™s scumbag friend.

The last time I saw her,

she was thirteen with braces.

Now, sheโ€™s back from boarding school,

with an hourglass body thatโ€™ll bring me to my knees.

If Easton finds out I hooked up with his sister,

he might actually kill me.

Sheโ€™s too innocent, too perfect for a guy like me,

but I canโ€™t resist dragging her into my messed up world.

Amelia Donovan might be the one to revive my blackened heart.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Corrupt My Mind has all the makings of a brother’s best friend romance: The overprotective big brother, the bad boy with a heart of gold, the good girl breaking out of her shell, and a bit of danger to raise the stakes.

Zayn is portrayed as the tatted-up bad boy, but I think he’s a good guy making some bad, dumb decisions. His heart is in the right place with those decisions, and he’s really done what he’s done to protect Amelia’s brother, Easton. But because of what he’s been roped in to, Zayn is trying to keep his distance from Amelia. Even though she’s no longer the geeky 13 year old in braces that he used to know. Meanwhile, Amelia arrives at college after attending boarding school on a scholarship. Where Zayn is the stereotypical motorcycle-riding bad boy, she is the standard good girl. Studious, sheltered, and with an overprotective big brother.

Overall, this book was entertaining… but kind of predictable. Much of the drama had to do with Easton’s former drug dealer/Zayn’s boss/Amelia’s boyfriend… and it felt kin of forced at times. I thought that Zayn and Amelia had great chemistry on their own, and would have liked to have seen more of the conflict between them stem from something other than Blade the dealer causing trouble. At times, I was more interested in what was happening off the page between Easton and Amelia’s roommate, Kennedy.

This is the first book in the North Haven University series, which I see is a spinoff of the Haven Grace Prep series featuring several of the supporting characters. It reads as a standalone, but there are many references to things that happened in the other series in regards to the history of the group of friends, which I’m sure that fans of Kelsey Clayton’s will appreciate.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
