BRED

A coming-of-age romance inspired by Great Expectations

By Ginger Scott

My life was irrevocably changed the moment I stepped foot inside Elena Alderman’s grand front doors. A lifeless tomb on the edge of Chicago’s South Side, the Alderman home sat in one of the city’s oldest and wealthiest neighborhoods, and Elena Alderman was the queen.

She was also mad.

Not the kind of madness that’s readily apparent. No, her psychopathy was far more surgical—more…insidious. She was surrounded by beautiful things—most notably her grand piano and her adopted son, Henry.

I fell in love with both.

My gift blossomed when my fingers touched her black and white keys. But my life began when I became haunted by the boy. Henry Alderman was a handsome blend of arrogance and seduction, and as we grew up together, I found it more and more impossible to separate him from my thoughts. I envied his life. I imagined how my name—Lily—would look with his. I became his closest friend…and more. I gave him my kiss, locked away his secrets, and loved him even when it was hard to.But we were just a game. Elena Alderman made the rules. And when she decided to change them, she broke everything.

Almost.

Excerpt from BRED By Ginger Scott

A coming-of-age love story inspired by Great Expectations

(Copyright Ginger Scott, 2019)The whistle sends a burst of adrenaline through my spine, and I jump toward the tracks before tripping over my feet in an attempt to move back. It’s several hundred yards away, the glow of the light dull through the fog that’s beginning to fill up our world.

“We should go,” I say from the bottom of the slope, the beats growing in speed and impact throughout my body. My pulse is racing the train—trying to outrun Henry and every little trap he seems to lay for my heart. I was over him.

“Just wait for it to pass. It’s safe. I promise. Stand right next to me,” he says, hand outstretched like Eve’s apple. I stare at his pink palm and pale fingers, chilly from the air now that they’ve left the comfort of his pockets. I curl mine into my sleeves as I blink at my other option for a moment.

“How do you know it’s safe?” My eyes flit up to his, and I catch his hand fall back down to his side in a defeat. His gaze sinks into mine more.

“I just do,” he says.

I try to read his lips—his blank expression and sure eyes. They’re gambling behind their green and golden mask. I look to my right, to the tracks that are only steps away, and to the growing light in the distance. A blaring whistle rings out again, twice, and it feels like a warning for more than just this little game of truth or dare. The ground beneath me vibrates with indecision, and as each second passes, my nerves wrangle around my chest, squeezing my lungs of air. I look to Henry again, his face unchanged, so sure that I’ll give in, so certain that we’ll be safe here.

The thunder against the tracks picks up, the rhythm like a chase as the train races toward us, barreling at a threatening pace. I turn my back to it slowly and retrace my steps back to where I was a minute or two before, my eyes locked on Henry’s. My hands are sweater-covered fists at my sides, and his are relaxed, looped by his thumbs into his front pockets. The trees around us begin to sway, sticks bending where leaves used to rustle months ago. Henry’s jawline glows with the reflection of the incoming light, and my hair falls loose at the sides of my face, tangled curls slapping at my cheeks and causing me to blink. Every time I open my gaze, though, Henry is there waiting—daring.

He lifts his chin as his smirk grows, and even though my mouth itches to do the same, I’m too overcome with fear to match him. My eyes close tight just before the train rushes by, and I steady my legs, only stumbling a bit when the first gust slams into my body. Slaps of wind push against me so hard I have to lean into the force, and my chest booms with every thud of metal along metal only feet away from me.

When the sound begins to ease, I open my lids and catch the last few cars rush by. My body is sucked forward a step or two at the very end, and I stumble into Henry’s outstretched palms, his hands on my forearms and a proud smile curving his mouth. My hair is flung in wild strands over my face, but before I can clear them away, Henry’s hands slide up my shoulders to my neck and then cheeks, sweeping my hair behind both ears as his thumbs take gentle strokes. My skin is electrified—in an instant I’ve gone from one rush to the next. Raw from sharing my past and learning more about Henry, alive from adventure, and terrified by wanting something to happen next now that Henry is near.

“We should get back,” he says, tucking one last blonde strand behind my ear before both of his hands fall away, retreating all the way back to his pockets.

Blurb:

Marcus

Moving in with my little sister’s best friend isn’t the brightest thing I’ve ever done. In fact, I’m pretty sure you can have me committed for accepting the offer. I’ve been in love with her for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been able to keep my hands to myself for all these years. But now? Now, she’s moving on without me and I’m scrambling to keep up without letting her slip through my fingers when she’s always felt out of reach.

I’m going to fight for her.

I just hope I’m not too late.

Natalie

The guy I’ve been in love with since I was a little girl is officially shacking up in my spare bedroom. Pretty sure I’m breaking every rule in the book by having him sleep under my roof, but it doesn’t matter anymore. Not when I’ve already let go of my silly crush to pursue other dreams that don’t involve a sexy guy who has only ever seen me as his little sister’s shadow.

No, it’s time to let him go and move on.

I just hope I can.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I am absolutely loving Kelsie Rae’s Signature Sweethearts series! The push and pull between Marcus and Natalie in this book was everything. They have both been in love with the other for so long, but neither one of them has ever ‘fessed up. Natalie didn’t think that he saw her as anything other than Sophie’s shadow, and Marcus was too stuck on the fact that Natalie is his sister’s best friend and how him dating her would affect the girls’ relationship.

Now that Sophie has moved in with Nathan and Marcus and Natalie are reluctant roommates, things shift between them. The scene with Luke from Book 1, Liv, was one of my favorite parts. I loved what Luke said to Marcus about regrets and how it kind of pushed him into finally making a move. Of course, that comes just as Natalie had finally decided to do something for herself, and it will have a major impact on their future.

I love a slow burn romance and this was a fabulous one. The sexy times are implied, but not described (as with all of Kelsie’s books) — and it makes no lick of a difference. The relationship between Marcus and Natalie is wonderfully described, and I loved how they progress from both thinking that their feelings were unrequited to being in a full-blown relationship.

Since these books are all interconnected standalones, there are glimpses of some of the other couples as well, which I always enjoy seeing when I’m reading a series.

Overall, this was a wonderful feel-good best friend’s brother story! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

CHECK OUT THIS EXCERPT:

As I grasp the handle, I close my eyes and slowly count to ten.

By the time I reach seven, I nearly jump out of my skin when an onslaught of banging erupts from the other side.

“Coming!” I yell, louder than necessary.

“Any day now!” he shouts back.

The sound of his voice also does funny things to me. Rolling over me like hot honey, causing a slight burn that I want to pull away from, only for it to be soothing and sweet the next minute.

Damn him.

Shaking my head, I twist the handle and pull the door open.

I quirk my brow before folding my arms over my chest and leaning against the jamb. “Patience is a virtue, Marcus. Maybe you should try it sometime.”

“Why hello to you too, Noogie. Are you going to invite me in?”

“I haven’t decided yet.”

My comment causes a deep laugh to escape him. “Well, at least you’re being honest. Where’s my sister?”

I shrug my shoulder. The motion causes my oversized sweatshirt to slide down my shoulder, revealing a few inches of skin.

His gaze zeroes in on the exposed flesh, burning me for a solid one-Mississippi before he glances past me like I’m no more than a fly in his soup.

Cover up, Noog. No one needs to see that.” And with that, he takes a step toward me, making me take a step back and giving him the space to enter. It’s like some sick kind of dance that neither of us can control.

“Don’t be an ass,” I admonish him.

“I’m not. Just being honest.”

“It’s a freaking shoulder, Marcus. I’m pretty sure you have them too.” My voice is thick with sarcasm, though it doesn’t stop me from checking out his ripped muscles through his damn jacket.

Seems he’s been working out lately.

Bastard.

I take a second to really look at him, taking note of all the subtle changes that have happened since I last saw him. It’s only been a couple months since he crashed Indie’s wedding in the Maldives to rescue his baby sister from the big bad wolf––aka Nathan––after she found out she was pregnant. But the entire event was such a blur that I feel like it doesn’t really count.

And if that event doesn’t count, then the last time I saw him would probably be during the championships of Gateway Guardians, a video game that Marcus gets paid to play professionally.

Yes. You heard that right. Marcus gets paid to play video games.

Cue eye roll.

Tilting my head to the side, I notice that his man bun is missing and his hair is now closely cropped to his head on the sides, leaving it a little longer on the top. I’d like to say it makes him uglier, but I’d only be lying to myself.

Dammit.

“Why’d you cut your hair?” I ask before mentally slapping my forehead.

He smirks cockily at me. “Noticed, huh?”

I roll my eyes. “It’s hard not to when I’m used to a giant man bun being tossed in my face every time I see you.”

He shrugs, mirroring my motion from only a moment before, then sets his duffle bag on the floor behind the couch.

Sophie and I moved into this apartment about six months ago, and it’s been amazing. The location isn’t fantastic, and the furniture is all second-hand, but it’s New York City, for crying out loud!

I couldn’t have been happier when the manager placed the brass keys in my hand after I signed the lease.

The lease that would feel a heck of a lot like a ball and chain only a few months later, when my best friend, and co-leaser, decided to get knocked up on a one-night stand.

At least everything worked out for them. Now, I just need it to work out for me.

I release a soft sigh of defeat when Marcus‘s shoe squeaks against the hardwood floor, grabbing my attention.

“So where’s my sister?” he asks again. I’m not exactly surprised by the abrupt subject change. It’s what he does.

“Late.” There’s no need for further explanation. The girl is always late.

He nods his head knowingly before heading to the fridge like he owns the place and peeking inside.

“Where are your groceries?” he asks when he comes up empty.

I shrug, causing my sweatshirt to slide down all over again. The moment feels like a terrible rendition of the same scenario only a few minutes before. Hastily, I push the fabric up when I see him looking at me with fire in his eyes as he stares a hole in my previously exposed shoulder.

“I’ve been eating out lately,” I defend.

It’s only a partial lie. I have been eating out lately. When I have time to eat at all. And when I can afford it.

Okay, maybe I haven’t been eating as much as usual.

His eyes narrow as he scans me from head to toe. “Well, you obviously aren’t eating enough.”

My jaw drops. “I’m sorry…what was that?”

He lifts his chin in my direction before continuing. “You’ve lost weight since the last time I saw you. Don’t tell me you’re trying a new diet or some bullshit. I swear—”

I stomp closer before lifting my finger and poking him in the chest. “Say one more word, and I’ll neuter you, Marcus. I can take care of myself. And who the hell do you think you are? If I want to try a new diet, then I’m going to try a new freaking diet.”

He tilts his head to the side, assessing me for a split second before scoffing. “See? This is why I knew it was a bad idea for you guys to move here. My sister ends up pregnant, and her friend is withering away from some fad diet. You’re curvy, Natalie. Get over it. Not everyone is meant to be a stick.”

I lift my hand to slap him right in his stupidly attractive face when the hinges squeak on my front door.

Dropping my arm a fast as I can, I jump away from Marcus like he has cooties.

Dammit.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The Roommate Agreement is another great romcom from Emma Hart!

Shelby and Jay have been friends since they were kids, and three months ago, he begged her to let him live in his spare room when he had to leave his apartment. So the book begins when they are already living together — and while they are kind of getting on each others’ nerves, being in such close proximity has also shifted the feelings they have for their bestie from the friend zone into a hot attraction. But as these stories go, both Jay and Shelby are afraid to tell the other one how they are feeling.

While trying to move past his feelings for Shelby, Jay goes on a date and ends up at the table next to his parents. Hilarious! And then after a hysterical dinner with Jay’s family, Shelby gets wasted and tells Jay how she feels. Gotta love the alcohol truth serum!

Things get a bit awkward after her confession, and it takes a bit for Shelby and Jay to get on the same page and officially go on The First Date. I really liked the slow burn between the two of them, and how Jay pushed through her insecurities when it comes to being in a relationship and fearing that they’d ruin their friendship. There is a really nice rapport between the two of them as both roommates and a couple, and the secondary characters prop them up nicely without taking away from the main characters. Grandma is a hoot!

I have yet to read an Emma Hart book that I didn’t love! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

Shelby shut the door with a click and peered over at me. “What are you writing? If it’s permission to use the feather duster as a sex toy, the answer is no. Unless you buy your own, but if you haven’t figured out where the laundry room is yet, I doubt you’ll find where to buy one.”

She was as funny as a car crash, this one.

“Hilarious,” I drawled. “No, I’m making amendments as I go. I added a new rule.”

“You added a new rule?” She raised one dark eyebrow and walked over, hovering over me. “All right, what is it?”

“Decent clothes must be worn. Do you know how many times I wake up early on a morning to open the gym and find you basically in your underwear in the kitchen?”

“Basically in my underwear? Who are you seeing in the kitchen? I wear shorts and a tank top at the very least.”

“Yes, but the shorts barely cover your ass, and you’re sure as hell not wearing a bra.”

She paused, eyes glittering as she said, “And why are you looking at my ass and my boobs?”

That was an excellent question.

“Because there’s nowhere else to look!” I rushed out before my stupid cock could get any ideas. “Look, waking up in the morning can be challenging for a guy.”

She stared at me.

“I don’t need to get up for a coffee with… you know.” I motioned to my groin. “And see you half-clothed.”

She flicked her hair over her shoulder and walked to the kitchen, turning her back to me. “Why does it matter? I’m your best friend. I hardly think your little friend is remotely interested in whether or not I’m wearing a bra.”

Yeah, well, he is.

“Fine. If I have to wake up and see your perky nipples prancing around the kitchen, I’m going to stroll around in my underwear so you can get a good view of my morning glory.”

She spun, lifting up a finger. Her cheeks were flushed, and she had to swallow before she could speak. “My nipples do not prance. They are not horses.”

I grinned.

“Also, I have no desire to have anything to do with your morning erection, much less get a good view of it, thank you very much.”

“Have I told you that you’re cute when you blush?”

“Have I told you that you’d be a cute dead guy?”

I laughed, leaning back on the sofa. “C’mon, Shelbs. We need to respect each other’s privacy. You don’t want to see my cock hard over your breakfast, and I don’t want to see your nipples standing to attention when I make a coffee.”

She sighed. “Why did I ever let you move in again?”

“Because I was going to be homeless and you’re the best friend ever?”

“Mm.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Holy smokes! This book was freaking amazing! I knew I was going to love it, simply because I’m a Vail Tail Girl, and this story is a crossover between the Vail and MFB worlds. But Brody and Zoey’s story blew me away!! It started off with a bang and had me anxiously reading “one more page” into the wee hours of the morning!

Zoey is the sister of Vail drummer Ethan, from then Unbreakable Thread duet. And Brody is the MFB drummer, who we met in Take My Heart. And in a throwback to the Destiny trilogy, Zoey and Mark dated on and off. I love all the connections!!

When Zoey’s shot at television stardom on a reality series goes up in smoke, she gets the opportunity to be a backup dancer for MFB’s upcoming tour. The chemistry is instant between she and Brody. He’s a bit of a playboy, not wanting to settle down bc of his Dad’s history. But after just a few minutes with Zoey, he’s wanting things he never thought he would. The two embark on a romance, but life on the road keeps them in a bubble. Once that bubble bursts… OH MY GOODNESS! I shouted! What a twist!!

Both of them make some bad decisions. But the HEA they get to is wonderful. It takes a lot of work, and a lot of growth and forgiveness and strength from both of them. But it is a wonderful ending that made my heart sing.

Lisa Suzanne scores another hit with this book! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

Friends Heather and Wyatt have kind of danced around one another for a while — she’s always liked him and he likes her as well, but doesn’t think that he’s good enough. She comes from money, and he’s just a bartender. None of that matters to Heather, but Wyatt has some major hang-ups about it.

There’s a nice slow burn to this story as Heather and Wyatt finally cross the line from friends to more. At times, I wanted to smack both of them for being ridiculous and not communicating, because that would have solved so many of their issues.

This book takes place in the same timeline as Stay, and there is some crossover with the characters. I didn’t like Stay very much, and Served was an okay read, so I’m on the fence about whether or not I’ll check out #3.

teaser 1.jpg

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Stolen Kisses is the second book in the Stolen series by Renee Harless. While it is a standalone, we first met Cooper and Sara in Stolen Nights, and there is some continuation to that book’s story as we get to know this new couple better.

Cooper is Jackson’s police detective brother, and Sara is Elle’s divorce lawyer best friend. The two of them hate one another, but as the best man and maid of honor, are forced to work together in planning Jackson and Elle’s wedding. Naturally, things happen and they don’t hate one another for much longer once the planning begins!

That’s not to say that things are all smooth sailing. Sara is not only carrying around the scars from her parents’ divorce, but as a divorce lawyer, she’s seen some pretty awful things that ruin marriages. And she wants nothing to do with it. But once she and Cooper cross that line, he is all in and becomes determined to make her see that they can be something great together.

There are a few winks to another of Renee’s book series when Sara and Cooper go to a B&B in nearby Carson, which is a nice Easter egg for readers. Like with Stolen Nights, there were some plot points that were a part of the story that I didn’t think received enough attention or explanation before they were wrapped up. Still, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The characters are relatable, the scenarios that they are placed in aren’t terribly far-fetched — although, Sara and Cooper are just as busy as Elle and Jackson, so the whole “plan our wedding” thing is just a giant set-up — and there’s a nice chemistry between the couple and a full arc in their relationship.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Renee Harless, her husband, and children live in Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She studied Communication, specifically Public Relations, at Radford University.

Growing up, Renee always found a way to pursue her creativity. It began by watching endless runs of White Christmas- yes even in the summer – and learning every word and dance from the movie. She could still sing Sister Sister if requested. In high school she joined the show choir and a community theatre group, The Troubadours. After marrying the man of her dreams and moving from her hometown she sought out a different artistic outlet – writing.

To say that Renee is a romance addict would be an understatement. When she isn’t chasing her toddler around the house, working her day job, or writing, she delves head first into a romance novel.

New Release: Sunny Shelly Reviews Gone For You, by Jennifer Van Wyk

GFY - RB banner.jpg

Gone For You, an all-new small town, second chance romance from Jennifer Van Wyk, is available now!

JVW_GoneforYouEbookCover.jpg

Ethan

I wasn’t expecting to find you. The night was only supposed to be a celebration for my friend, but I couldn’t stop my heart, or body, from being drawn to you.

Then I got to know you, and you chipped away every wall I’d built around my heart.

You don’t know how many times I found reasons to talk to you. To see you.

It has to stop.

There’s distance between us I can’t control.

Damn you and your dimple for being so irresistible.

I wish I wasn’t so Gone for You.

Olivia

I knew I wouldn’t be able to let you go the night you walked into my bar. Everything in me screams to keep you close.

I’m ready to move forward, to stop making excuses to see you, but I know you need more time.

You’ve created this distance between us to protect your heart, but you have to know it’s safe with me.

The moments you give me aren’t enough.

I want you forever and I’ll stop at nothing to make it happen.

After all, I’m so Gone for You.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Jennife Van Wyk starts off a new series of standalones with Gone For You — and it is a real gem! I easily read this book in an evening because I was so taken with Ethan and Olivia’s story.

The pair first meet in the prologue, 10 years earlier, when Liv is on her way to visit her older brother, Owen. She meets “Hotstuff” in the hallway of the apartment building, and their flirty banter follows them all the way up to the third floor… at which point, Ethan discovers that she’s not just his buddy’s younger sister, but only 17 years old. The story picks up a decade later when Liv happens to be in the bar Ethan now owns and runs, and the instant attraction between them has not dimmed over time.

Much of the book is their long-distance romance as they get to know one another through phone calls and text messages. It’s a plot device that I personally love, because I enjoy falling in love with the couple as they are falling in love with one another. The weekends that they do get to spend together are magical, but Liv is hesitant to really go all-in when it comes to the relationship. She’s carrying around some major baggage as a result of being cheated on in the past (as well as the infidelity that lead to her parents’ divorce), and Ethan has the patience of a saint. He’s just that sure of what they have together. So it’s quite shocking when he realizes that HE has some baggage of his own.

I appreciated that there is no outside/ex drama involved in the split that happens between Ethan and Liv. They both need to do some soul-searching and reflection to get their ish together in order to have a healthy relationship. But words hurt, and the things that Ethan says to Liv in a moment of anger may have cut too deep and caused too much damage. Also, since Owen lives far away himself, he’s not a constant presence in their lives. But it’s enough that Liv has reservations in confiding in her brother. Thankfully, Owen is totally supportive, and actually plays a big role in helping Ethan and Liv reunite.

I enjoyed this story so much, and can’t wait to see what happens next with Chloe and Ethan’s buddy, Rex! And I hope that Owen finds someone to help heal his broken heart some day! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About Jennifer

From the Ground Up was Jennifer’s first published novel and now that she was bitten by the writing bug, has no intention of ever stopping. Jennifer makes her home in small town Iowa with her high school sweetheart, three beautiful, hilarious and amazing kids, one crazy Jack Russell terrier. This is where her love for all things reading, baking, and cooking happen. Jennifer’s family enjoys camping, boating, and spending time outside as much as possible. You’ll be her best friend if you can make her laugh and follow up with asking her what to read next. When she’s not writing, you can find her cheering the loudest at her kids’ sporting events (read as: embarrassing them), sipping coffee or iced tea out of a mason jar with her Kindle in her lap or binging on Netflix.

Blurb
Once upon a time, six children stumbled upon a wild place hidden deep in the moors, shrouded by secrets and fog. There we played a game among the roses and the thorns that would change us forever, that would follow us the rest of our lives. A game that ended with a hard kiss in the rain and tattered flower petals fluttering from above…

And twelve years later, we’re back.

The heir.
The dreamer.
The priest.
The genius.
The socialite.
The saint.

I’m not going to dream of a forgotten place covered in thorns every night.
I won’t be enchanted by Thornchapel and its glossy, glamorous people. I’m not going to fall in love or have my heart torn in two.

I’m not telling the truth.

Because as this place slowly tightens its coil of secrets and thorns around us, as we uncover the knotted mysteries that grow here, the six of us begin to unravel into filthy, holy pleasure and pain. Fulfilling the promise we once made as children in those whispering ruins, and awakening a fate that will either anoint us or leave us in ashes…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

A Lesson In Thorns is a tangled mess of forbidden, secrets, lies and wanting. A childhood game in the ruins of an old chapel on an even older English estate forever change the lives of Poe, Saint, Auden, Rebecca, Delphine and Becket.

Twelve years later, the six are all back together for the first time, inexplicably drawn to Thorne Chapel. But why? What is the magic that calls to them? How is Poe’s mother involved? What split apart their parents all those years ago? There are SO MANY unanswered questions, as this is just the first book in a new series by Sierra Simone. It’s gripping, it’s haunting, it’s erotic and forbidden. It’s gritty and raw and the characters are vulnerable and angry all at once.

This story is primarily told through Poe’s POV, but there are a few third-person chapters that bring to light the secrets and desires of the rest of the bunch. Sierra Simone has crafted a marvelously delicious tale, and the journey for these six characters is just beginning!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Just Neighbors, by Charity Ferrell

Title: Just Neighbors

Author: Charity Ferrell
Genre: New Adult/Enemies-to-Lovers Romance

 Release Date: March 26, 2019

Blurb

Every day, my neighbor tells me to have a good morning.
Every day, I tell him to f*ck off.
Kyle Lane is the town’s hottest cop.
He’s also the man I’ve despised since high school.
Each morning, he stands on his porch with an annoying smirk on his
perfect face.
He’s made it his life’s mission to get under my skin.
Until one day, he’s no longer on his porch but on mine.
He claims he wants to redeem himself for ruining my reputation.
My instincts tell me to stay away, but with each morning he shows up,
it becomes harder and harder to resist his charm.
I was never supposed to fall in love with my neighbor and once he finds
out my secret, we’ll forever be enemies.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Just Neighbors checks off all the boxes of a sexy enemies-to-lovers romance! It’s not a second-chance romance, but Kyle and Chloe do have a history and some bad blood between them. Needless to say, she is not thrilled to be living next door to the guy who has made her life teenage years miserable. But there is a thin line between love and hate…

Or more like lust. Because there is lots of lust between these two. But these characters are so much more than just their sexual chemistry. The banter is witty and sharp, and I laughed out loud so many times. Once they are able to get past the hurt that flows between them, it is a wonderful slow burn as Chloe and Kyle realize that somewhere along the way that hate turned into a different four-letter word.

Just Neighbors is a standalone within the Blue Beech series. They are interconnected standalones, with characters that cross over: Kyle is best friends with Gage from Just Exes, and they are partners on the police force. But Just Exes had no impact on the story in Just Neighbors, so they can be read in any order.
