That inked bad boy who’s been flirting hard with me since he rode into town? Turns out he’s my new housemate, which is one hell of a problem since our chemistry is so hot it should be illegal.

I have a fantastic family, great best friends, a job I love…and now I’m up for a promotion to police sergeant. I need total focus—not a flirty, dirty, irresistible, tattooed hottie riding into my town on his motorcycle. Can I arrest him for being too good-looking? When he kisses me senseless in the back of a waffle truck, it’s criminal, the things he makes me think about hot syrup and melted butter. One order of hot, fluffy hookup to go, please.
But the next time I see him, it’s not for our date with benefits. He’s the guy who just rented the room above my garage.
I need the rent to pay my bills, not a man like Derek, who I soon discover to be strong, caring, generous, good with kids, and kind to puppies… If I’m not careful, he’ll be moving into my heart as well as my house.

***

A no-strings-attached fling with the fiery redhead who revs my engine? Why, yes, that does sound like a delicious perk of my new job in this new town, thank you very much. I’m coming off a bad relationship, and I have zero interest in anything serious. I’ve got all the serious I need helping my sister take care of her three little kids while her husband is deployed.
Except, surprise! Perri isn’t just my future fling. Turns out she’s my sexy, sassy landlord.
A lease definitely counts as “strings attached,” and as much as I’d like to get tangled in her sheets, I can’t let myself get tangled up in a relationship.
But as soon as we put the cuffs on our escapades, I learn over late-night conversations in the kitchen, that my landlord is so much more than the sexiest woman I’ve ever met– she has a quick mind and the biggest heart.

Once I’m in, I’m all in. And to convince her that we should see where this goes, I plan on turning up the heat—and not just in the kitchen.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

A hot cop, a sexy EMT and a kissing contest. What could go wrong? Oh, let’s make them housemates who give in to their insane sexual attraction, but no strings attached and only until the kissing contest! Sounds like a plan!

This was another fun and sexy small-town romance from Lauren Blakely. Perri and Derek pretty much want each other from the moment she pulls him over for speeding. They have a few sexually charged encounters afterwards, including him agreeing to be her kissing partner for the town contest, so she can show her support of the town as part of the promotion she’s up for.

But when Perri’s brother, Shaw, rents out her garage room to Derek (knowing that he’s the unnamed guy his sister has a thing for), they agree to keep boundaries and not cross lines. But then a whole lot of flirting gets involved, and Perri and Derek decide to just give in to the feel-good factor while they can. Although neither one of them is looking for a relationship, with the end date of their arrangement looming over them, they both can’t help but wonder if the feel good factor may be just the thing they didn’t know they were looking for.

Feel Good Factor is a standalone, but it’s in the same world as Best Laid Plans, so there are appearances from Gabe and Arden, and we get a great tease for Shaw and Vanessa’s story to come!!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

EXCERPT

~PERRI~

“Hey, officer. I think you might have been walking too fast through the market.”

The hairs on my neck stand on end. That gravelly, too-sexy-for-words tone delivers a wave of sensation across my skin.

It could only be Mr. Trouble.

With an avocado in hand, I turn around, and my eyes feast. How is it possible for him to be even hotter today? Is this a trick only the handsomest men can employ? The ability to multiply their good looks?

Somehow, maybe a trick of the light, he’s exponentially sexier in those shades, his gray T-shirt showing off swirls of ink, and jeans so well-worn they cling caressingly to his legs.

Lucky jeans.

But it’s his face, most of all, that draws me in as soon as he flicks off his glasses and I get a full dose of dark, soulful brown eyes full of naughty wishes.

Oh, wait. Maybe those are my naughty wishes reflected back at me.

Because I want him.

Do I ever. I want to climb him, rope my hands through his hair, and haul him in for a wild kiss.

Whoa.

That bout of desire was brought to you today by what-happens-when-lust-slams-into-you-like-a-freight-train.

“Gee, was I speed-walking?” I toss out, mainly to keep him standing there, because I’m mesmerized next by his tattoos. Sunbursts and tribal bands curl over his sinewy arms, and I’d like to like them. I’d like to know if he’s inked elsewhere and how far, or how low, the artwork on his body descends.

To his hips? The top of his ass? The V of his abs?

A woman can dream.

With a tilt of his head and a far-too-knowing grin, he answers, “Let me guess. You either didn’t realize it, or you have someplace real important to be?”

“So important. I have to…” I trail off then make my voice as husky as can be as I set down my avocado, “…make guacamole.”

“You don’t say,” he rasps, his low baritone caressing me all over. “I could help you with that, officer.”

“Are you Mr. Avocado Farmer?”

“I’m Mr. I Can Show You How Ripe They Are.” He steps into the booth, moving next to me, getting into my space.

Closer than he needs to be.

A tremble rolls over my shoulders as he crowds me. “Let’s see.” He strokes his neat beard, and I rein in a whimper. I want my hands on that scruff.

He studies the sea of avocados, reaching for one at last and then sliding even closer, so his shoulder touches mine. It’s the match to my kindling and strikes a fire inside me.

If anyone tried to tell me a woman doesn’t have a type, I’d call that person a liar.

I have a type, and the type lights me up from sea to shining sea.

He cups the fruit in his palm, then brings it near my chest. I draw a quick breath, then flick my hair off my shoulders.

“By the way,” he says, “I like your hair up, but I fucking love it down.”

Dead.

I am dead from desire.

Before I can reply—I’m honestly not sure I can form intelligible words—he rubs his other hand over the rind. “See, you want to find the one that’s ripe and”—he pauses and turns his face to meet my gaze, his dark eyes holding mine—“ready to eat.”

A shudder hijacks my body. “Is that so?”

I don’t need a tutorial in picking avocados. Please. I know how to pick them just fine.

But I want his lesson. Want to hear his voice. Watch those hands move. Feel him slide closer.

“It’ll feel slightly soft, and it’ll yield to just the right amount of gentle pressure.”

And that pressure builds between my legs, an insistent throb. “How do you tell if it’s enough pressure?”

He pushes a thumb against the flesh of the fruit, making a husky hum low in his throat. “Just like that. See how it responds?”

“How’s it responding?”

He turns, angling his body nearer to me, his dark eyes shining with desire as he roams them over my face, my hair, my breasts. “Just the way I like it.”

This man is going to ruin me in the best possible way.

While I don’t have the time or inclination for dating, dinners, or fitting someone into my very busy schedule, I’m pretty sure I could deal with a little ruination.

Yes, I could definitely do with getting ruined.

Title: Object of my Desire

Author: R.L. Kenderson

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Photographer: FuriousFotog

Model: Chase Ketron

Designer: R.L. Kenderson

About Object of My Desire:

A romance author, a cover model, a book signing…a crush.

Ordinary women like me know we shouldn’t fall for beautiful men like Travis Zehler, one of the hottest cover models in romance fiction. But sometimes we can’t help ourselves.

When I meet him at a book signing, my attraction to him is instant. I’m infatuated, and I can’t stop thinking about him.

Even though I have doubts he’d ever be interested, I invite Travis to attend a book signing with me. And he says yes.

My fantasy comes true when he takes me to his bed, and the more time we spend together, the more I see that Travis isn’t some object to be desired.

He’s a man with a past. A man who’s been burned. A man who’s learned to keep his guard up.

I want to show him he can trust again, but when our confidence in each other is shaken, I began to wonder if happily ever afters are only for my romance novels.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Object Of My Desire is the first book I’ve read by RL Kenderson, and it was a delight. I am a voracious romance reader, so I loved that this book is set behind-the-scenes at writers conventions.

Sydney is romance author who meets Travis at a convention. He’s a model and personal trainer who happens to be working the convention that weekend as her friend’s assistant. There is an immediate connection between Sydney and Travis, and even though they live in the same city, they part ways after sharing a searing kiss. When the next convention rolls around, Sydney asks Travis (who is now on the cover of her new release) to make a model appearance with her… and their relationship goes from just friends to something so much more.

Both characters have some personal baggage that they bring to the relationship: She feels rather insecure with her physical appearance in comparison to some of Travis’ exes, and he was badly burned in a past relationship where his partner was petty, jealous, self-involved and ultimately spied on him. Even after they start dating, there are awkward and sweet moments where Sydney isn’t quite sure what their relationship status is. And Travis, on the flip side, can’t help but let his previous relationship color some of Sydney’s actions, like when she accompanies him to a photo shoot.

When a misunderstanding ultimately leads to both of their insecurities coming between them, it’s a raw and real moment fraught with tension and a painful argument for both of them. The best part about the fight? It happens immediately after they exchange “I Love Yous” for the first time. And the Grand Gesture that they each make to win the other back is straight out of a romance novel. (Heh, heh, heh.)

My only complaint was the awkward transition between the POVs of Travis and Sydney. Hers is done in first person, while his is done in third. I prefer books where I get the POV of both the hero and heroine, but alternating between first and third was a clunky transition in my opinion.

Overall, Object Of My Desire was a wonderful, light-hearted romance! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About R.L. Kenderson:

R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.

Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.

When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.

One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and together they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.

“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good.
And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”
My name is Leo Miles, and I’m not a hero.
I came home broken—wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and I haven’t left my family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but with the way I look now, I prefer to stay hidden.
My only reprieve is her voice. I put on my headset, log in to my game, and she’s there. We talk while we play, sharing everything but our personal details. She’s my best friend—my happy place—even though I don’t know her real name.
Until one day, I hear a voice I recognize. She’s here, at my family’s winery. Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks my world. And discovering she’s in trouble—serious trouble—changes everything.
Hannah is my every fantasy come true. And this badass gamer girl is determined to break through my defenses. But between the mess that is my life, and the threats to my family’s safety, I can’t be anyone’s hero, least of all hers.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

It’s no secret that Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite authors. And I have loved every book in the Miles Family series. But I was REALLY anticipating Leo’s story the most. What made him tick? We knew he was an injured war vet, but what had happened? Would he ever leave the family’s winery?

Outside of his family, the only person Leo socializes with is his online gaming buddy, Gigz. Needless to say, he’s shocked when he hears her voice at a wedding reception being held at the family winery. He’s even more shocked when Gigz later tells him that she had an intense reaction to a Beast-like guy she saw at the winery. But Leo is so stunned that she found him attractive, the poor guy can’t speak up. The scene where he talks to Cooper is so sweet, my heart ached for Leo!

When fate intervenes and puts Hannah back at The winery, it’s hysterical that Coop is the one she runs into first. But it’s not a happily ever after for Leo and Hannah, because girlfriend has major situation she needs to extract herself from. With Leo’s help, she does… and the former soldier gets to play hero in the best possible way. With his awesome brothers behind him, naturally!

I love the slow burn between Hannah and Leo after that, once they become roommates. He is so tortured, and doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. Hannah breaks down all of his defenses, little by little, and brings Leo out of the darkness. In more ways than one. They are so perfectly matched, and I was so happy to see Leo step out of the shadows (not just with Hannah, but to protect his family as well) and get a well-deserved HEA.

Hidden Miles was everything I wanted to see happen for also, and more. All of my questions about Leo’s past were answered, and the throughline story of father Lawrence and what he’s done to the family was wrapped up in an awesome way. I’m so glad that Claire is kicking off her next series with half-sister Grace and giving Ben and Sharon a story, because I don’t want to say goodbye to this wacky family!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Advice From A Jilted Bride, by Piper Rayne

What’s a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That’s right. Text. Message.

How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I’m no Dear Abby but here’s a little free advice…

Advice #1 – First, purge your apartment of all things him—by tossing his belongings off the balcony.

Advice #2 – Do not, I repeat do not, throw anything out into the hallway because you’ll injure your hot new neighbor.

Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It’s awkward when you realize he’s your boss.

Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister’s wedding as collateral.

Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don’t trust his word even if he’s the world’s best kisser.

If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It’s the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

Xo,

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I love the Baileys! Piper Rayne has done it again! Advice From A Jilted Bride is a fantastic follow-up! When Brooklyn is ditched the day of her wedding — by text message! — she never expects to find love again with her hot neighbor/new boss, Wyatt. From the moment of their book-to-the-head meet-cute to when she discovers who Wyatt really is to their makeup and reunion, I couldn’t wait to keep turning the page!

The romance between Wyatt and Brooklyn is a wonderful slow burn. After their rocky meeting and Grandma Dori guilting Wyatt into keeping an eye on broken-hearted Brooklyn and the friendship that forms from that, I couldn’t wait for the two of them to finally get together! This story is a wonderful slow burn and the pay-off was so worth the wait!

Beyond the great romance, we also get more of the wacky Bailey family. The bonds between the siblings are so strong, and they are just as lovable as they are wacky. The loyalty between all of them is amazing, and they are such a close-knit bunch. I love how up in each others’ business they all are. I can’t wait to see what comes next for the rest of the siblings.

Finding Mrs. Right for Dax Kendrick should be a piece of cake. Except nothing about this man is simple.

DAX

The NFL has given me more than I ever imagined—a roof over my head, food on the table, and a chance to provide for the family who sacrificed everything while I chased my dreams.

Maintaining a squeaky-clean image for my sponsors when my paycheck and the fruits of my endorsements are all the women want is a hefty challenge.

I’d nearly given up when I hired Darcy Cole. Yet the more I’m around her, the less I care about finding my perfect match.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

With A Hitch is an absolutely charming opposites attract/best friends romance by R.C. Boldt, centered around two characters from a previous book, Ditched. Darcy and Dax are the sister and best friend of Ditched’s Beckett and Ivy. Darcy is Ivy’s business partner, but where Ivy runs an upscale breakup service, Darcy is a professional matchmaker, and reluctantly agrees to take on Beck’s pal, Dax, as a client.

There is an immediate connection between Dax and Darcy — in fact, they shared a super-charged moment the night of Ivy and Beck’s wedding, as we come to learn via flashbacks. Due to their connection to Ivy and Beck, Dax and Darcy start spending a lot of time together and a genuine friendship soon develops. The transition from friends to wanting to be more than is a slow burn, and the realization kind of creeps up on both characters in the most marvelous way.

Unfortunately, the road to happily ever after isn’t quite so simple for the two of them, and when Darcy’s past threatens to destroy Dax’s future, she’s willing to sacrifice everything. Including the love of her life. But Dax is not about to let the woman who is everything he never realized he wanted walk away without a fight.

This book is a great mix of humor amidst the hot-button #MeToo movement. Boldt does a great job of keeping the story upbeat but still driving home that very important message about workplace harassment. I fell in love with these characters falling in love with one another, and enjoyed the crazy antics between Dax and his teammates. I really hope that we get stories for Kyler and Tank as well!

DAX

* * *

“Where’s my favorite girl?” I call out, entering my childhood home.

“I’m here, Uncle Dax!” my niece, Violet, hollers through the house just before her quick footsteps follow.

My parents refused to let me buy them a new house once I started putting money in the bank. Mom didn’t want the neighbors to think she and Dad thought they were better than anyone else. This means my parents, my sister, and niece, all still live in the fifteen-hundred-square-feet home I grew up in.

I did pay off their mortgage as well as my sister’s student loans before I set up a college fund for my niece, much to their dismay. But let’s be honest, it’s the least I could do for a family who’s always been there for me.

Dad refused to retire from the hardware store, but I at least got him to agree to go from full-time to part-time a few years ago. It took some aggressive bargaining, but when I’d shown him how well the account I’d started for them with my financial planner had been doing, he’d finally relented.

“Hey! I thought I was your favorite girl!” another female voice protests.

“Well, I don’t know,” I hedge. “Depends on if you made any chocolate chip cookies.”

My mother promptly swats at me with a laugh, the little crinkles at the corners of her eyes becoming more pronounced. The guys always say I resemble my mom, and even though I know they say it in more of a shit talking, you look like your mama kind of way, it’s still true. She and I have the same smile, and although her skin is darker than mine—my dad’s the odd man out in the family with fair white skin—there’s no mistaking me for being her son.

I pull her close for a hug, and she pats my back, mumbling, “I swear, you just keep getting more muscles every time I see you.” The top of her head barely reaches my shoulder, and her dark hair seems like it has more gray threaded in it each time I see her.

“Don’t give him a bigger head than he already has.”

My eyes catch sight of Violet and my sister, Ava, entering the small kitchen. Mom releases me, and Violet rushes past her mother intent on getting to me first. I bend and scoop her up in a big hug.

“Uncle Dax, I missed you.” Her whispered words wrap themselves around me.

“I missed you, too, love bug.” God, I swear, she’s growing like a damn weed lately. Once I set her on her feet, she starts talking a mile a minute.

“Oh my gosh, Uncle Dax! You’re not going to believe what happened the other day in gymnastics camp. That girl I told you about—the one who was saying my hair was weird and stuff—well, I finally had enough, and I did what you told me to do.”

All eyes are suddenly on me. Trust me when I say this is not what a man wants in this household because it normally means I’m in deep shit.

“Uh, remind me again what I told you?” I say slowly, praying to God above that I hadn’t made some idiotic, off-the-cuff comment as a joke, and she took me seriously.

Violet gives me one of those old people are so forgetful looks. “You said I could use sarcasm because most people who are mean and rude don’t understand it, and it’ll go over their head and be a beautiful inside joke for you and everyone else who doesn’t have shit for brains.”

Violet,” my mother and Ava say in unison, flashing me a stern look.

Violet grimaces. “Sorry. But I was quoting him.” Then she picks right up. “And then you said I should let it roll off my shoulders like it doesn’t bother me.” She grins happily. “Well, I did a combination of the two. And she’s totally left me alone ever since.” My niece pumps a fist in the air. “Go Team Kendrick!”

“Way to go!” We exchange a high five. Sobering, I school my face in a stern expression. “Remember not to cuss, though. It’s not ladylike.”

Her sweet face peers up at me, so adorably cute with such seriousness that it takes all my effort to not break into a smile. “How about ‘crap’?”

“Uh…” I flick my eyes to Ava, who makes a face before shrugging. “I think that one can be okay, as long as it’s not overused.”

Violet nods. “Noted.” God, this kid is such an old soul sometimes. “I’m going to practice my backflips for gymnastics some more out back.” In a flash, she’s gone.

I sag against the counter. “Man, two minutes, and I’m exhausted.”

My sister sidles up beside me and snickers. “As if Mr. Gatorade himself ever gets exhausted.”

I toss her a sharp look. “Seriously? One advertising campaign for a sports drink, and you’re giving me sh—”

“Ahem!” our mother clears her throat pointedly.

“Crap.” Mom nods in approval, and I continue. “About it?” I place a palm flat against the center of my chest, feigning sadness. “Where’s the love?”

She shoves at me playfully. “You get enough love from all your admirers.”

Mom huffs. “You need to settle down with a nice woman.”

“Speaking of a nice woman…” I press my lips thin, trying to figure out how to best tell them I decided to use a matchmaking service, but decide to throw caution to the wind. “I hired a professional,” I blurt out.

As if in slow motion, my mother turns around slowly from where she’s stirring something on the stove. My sister’s jaw goes slack. And they both gape at me.

Just the reaction a guy wants.

My mother’s expression is horrified. Not quite what I was expecting, but then again, she’s always been a spitfire.

“Dax Allen Kendrick! I forbid it!”

I rear back, confused as hell. “Why would you forbid it?”

Her jaw drops, and she gasps indignantly. “Why would I forbid it?!” She turns to my sister, her voice increasing in volume. “Why would I forbid it?!”

“Say it again, Mom. Not sure we heard you the first time,” my sister deadpans.

If my mother didn’t have a freaking wooden spoon in her hand, I’d let out the laugh aching to break free. I got to know that sucker really well through my early years, and even though I’m older, I don’t put it past my mother to come at me with that thing.

Speaking of which, my right ass cheek starts to throb in remembrance at the mere sight of that spoon.

I hold up my hands. “Calm down, Mom.” Shit. I didn’t expect this reaction. “Look, she’s great at what she does and—”

The hand holding the wooden spoon rises another inch, and I flinch in response. “Don’t you tell me what she’s great at, young man!”

I look at my sister, silently pleading for help. She merely shrugs, wide-eyed, with an I don’t pretend to understand her look.

Great. I’m left to fend for myself once again.

“Can you just put that thing”—I gesture to the spoon in her hand—“down, so I can explain?”

My mother’s lips purse like she’s just bit into the sourest of lemons. Her eyes practically spew fire at me. “Fine.” Her tone is curt. “But you’re not too old to get swatted with it, young man,” she warns with a pointed look.

My hands fly to my ass protectively, and my sister snorts. I glare at her, and she simply sticks her tongue out at me in response.

Some things never change.

“Okay, so Ivy, Becket’s wife—”

My mother’s expression instantly softens. “Such a sweet girl, that one.” Then with a stern look, she adds, “You need to find someone like that.”

I draw in a deep breath, praying for patience. “Ivy’s business partner, Darcy, runs a matchmaking service and—” At the odd expression on my mother’s face, I stop. “What’s that look for?”

“Oh, honey.” She lets out a long sigh before spinning around to tend to the saucepan on the stove.

I stare at my sister expectantly. Her lips twitch as though she’s attempting to restrain a smile. I wave her on. “Say it.”

She snickers. “Mom thought when you said ‘professional,’ you meant prostitute.”

I whip around to stare at my mother. “Are you serious?!” What the hell? “You really think I’d hire a freaking prostitute?”

“Apparently so,” my sister chimes in with a smirk.

I toss up my hands in exasperation. “I can’t believe you think I’d resort to that.”

“Well,” my sister starts, “you have been single for a while.”

“That doesn’t mean I’d hire a prostitute for fu—” Mom’s head whips around in warning, and I correct myself quickly. “For God’s sake.”

“What’s a prostitute?”

Fucking hell. Violet’s just come back inside.

“Nothing.” That’s my mother’s response.

“A person who makes bad choices.” My sister’s no-nonsense response.

“A woman who sells—” This time, I really do get swatted with the wooden spoon. As if it doesn’t sting enough against my bare forearm, I now have a line of pasta sauce on it too.

I grin and make a show of licking the sauce off my skin. Mom hates that.

She raises the spoon threateningly, and I hold up my hands in surrender. “I just want to be loved. What’s a guy have to do to get some love these days?”

“Pretty sure you already know what you have to do to get some love,” my sister mutters under her breath.

I jab an index finger in her direction and give her a sharp look. “Watch it, or I’ll tell Mom who broke that angel statue she brought home from a garage sale.”

Ava’s expression morphs into astonishment. “You swore you’d never bring that up!” Her lips curve suddenly in a devious smile. “As long as I never tell Mom what happened to that pair of booty shorts she got you for twenty-five cents.”

“What shorts?” my mother asks.

I stare at her in complete disbelief. “Seriously? You’re more worried about the hideous shorts that put my junk on display than the statue she broke?”

My mother sputters. “But you said you loved those shorts!”

I glance up at the ceiling, hoping for divine intervention, which, of course, never comes. “Mom,” I say with exaggerated patience. “The shorts were cut so high I would’ve had to wax.”

“Well, you could’ve said so,” she huffs, turning back to the stove. “They were a great deal.”

“I’m sure they were a steal for a quarter.” My sister snickers at my sarcastic response, and we burst out laughing.

Our mom’s been a fan of garage sales for as far back as we can remember. Sometimes she brings home some decent stuff, but more often than not, it ends up being some hideous “treasure.”

Hence the shorts.

“You two are gonna get it!” Mom warns, raising that infamous wooden spoon once more.

Man, it’s good to be home.

About The Hookup Handbook

My love wand is on a strike.

As bad as that blows, pun unintended, it’s ten times worse for me. I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

Only now, I’m on hiatus. Because after years of pleasing women all over the city, my man missile decides to get finicky. And the only woman he wants? Someone I can never have—my best friend’s younger sister, the nerdy and awkwardly adorable Sienna.

She’s working at the agency this summer, keeping me organized, handling paperwork, and most importantly, keeping me on track to finish writing my book about sex and intimacy, which is due to my publisher in thirty days.

She thinks I hate her, that I don’t want her here. The truth is much more twisted. I get hard every time she walks into my office. Her wide blue eyes and pouty mouth drive me wild with desire, and if she stays, I’m not sure how much longer I can stay away from her.

Little Miss Overachiever says she’s here to help? Fine. I’m going to put her nerdy, curvy tush to work.

HUP-teaser2

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

If you are looking for a fun, fluffy read with low angst and lots of heat, then The Hookup Handbook is right up your alley. It’s a follow up to The Boyfriend Experience, and the hero is Case, the owner of the Allure male escort service.

The poor guy is a bit stressed these days: he has a deadline looming for a sex-advice book and he’s having trouble fulfilling his duties as an escort lately. When Ryder, one of the escorts, suggests that Case hire his little sister, Sienna, for the summer as an office assistant, Case figures that at least he won’t have to do the paperwork. He gets so much more out of the deal, though!

The chemistry between case and Sienna sizzles, and for the first time in weeks, Case has found a woman he wants to “play” with. But Sienna is his employee, and his best friend’s little sister. Finally, she convinces him that they can scratch a mutual itch, but “just one time” doesn’t stop there. But how far is Case willing to let things go?

The Hookup Handbook checks off all the boxes in both the office and brother’s best friend tropes. There is clever banter between the main characters, some really sweet interactions between Case and Sienna, just the right amount of angst where Ryder is concerned, and all kinds of sexy times.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

J. Bengtsson gives her fans another great look inside the McKallister family in the 5th book of the Cake Series. Rogue Wave is the emotional rollercoaster of a love affair between Keith and Sam, the nerdy girl who captures his heart and changes his life.

The story unfolds over several years, starting when Keith and Sam are in high school, their breakup and what they each go through during those five years, their eventual reunion and subsequent breakup #2 five years after that. I felt like I’d been through the wringer by the time I got to the end of this marvelous book!

My heart ached for Keith. The poor guy struggles with so much: feeling like a misfit in a family of overachievers, drug and alcohol abuse, low self-esteem, feeling like he’s can’t measure up to oldest brother Mitch. His struggles with his demons are so well-described in this story. I felt his pain, felt his hope, felt his despair. And Sam’s life wasn’t much easier. JB does a fantastic job of describing the abuse Sam deals with at home, as well as what the McKallister family goes through when Jake is kidnapped. Seeing that family tragedy from Keith’s POV adds another layer to the complicated mess, and how that day affected both his and Sam’s lives was astounding.

Bengtsson is a master storyteller. I fell in love with Jake and Casey when I first read Cake, and each follow-up story has endeared this family to me even more.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing’s wrong. It’s just – I’ve never been kissed before. If, you know, that’s what you were going to do. Maybe you weren’t, and I totally misread the whole thing, and if I did, I’m sorry, but…”

Once I caught the grin on Keith’s face, I stopped rambling.

“I was going to kiss you, but I didn’t realize you needed to make an outline first.”

“More like a rough draft,” I added playfully.

“I’m thinking getting you into bed would take a full dissertation.”

“Whoa. You need to slow down, Keith. I won’t go past a term paper with you.”

“We’ll see about that,” he answered confidently.

His playfulness drew a smile to my lips. “No, we won’t.”

He grabbed me again, and before I could think, he pressed a quick kiss to my lips. “There. Now you’ve been kissed. Stop making it weird.”

He let me go, picked up his surfboard, and started jogging toward the water.

My fingers found my lips and I grinned like a loon before picking up my own board and chasing after him.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Reality Of Wright And Wrong, by Leddy Harper

We’re celebrating the release of The Reality of Wright and Wrong by Leddy Harper! Check out the excerpt below and one-click today!

Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 14, 2019
Add to your TBR – https://bit.ly/2RzE69w

Blurb:

“Save me and have me, fix me and I’m yours.”

What do you do when you catch your fiancé grinding on another woman? Well, if you’re me, you run off with a sexy, ink-covered tattoo artist who goes by the name Wrong.

Then you marry him after a week.

This isn’t a story of love at first sight—love didn’t come into play until after I had ruined it all. It’s the reality of what is right and what is wrong when it comes to soulmates.

Excerpt:

Mercy rested the back of her head along the edge of the pool, the water hiding the parts of her I craved to see. The subtle curve of her hips and smooth skin along her inner thighs. Granted, the best parts were still covered by a yellow bikini that left more to the imagination that I would’ve wanted. Regardless, the soft swell of her breasts that bobbed to the surface every now and then left me drooling and dangerously close to pitching a tent in my board shorts.

“What’s the story behind your name? Where’d Mercy come from?” I crouched in front of her so that the water covered my shoulders, putting us face to face.

She rolled her eyes, yet the smile that danced on her lips negated any irritation she sought to convey. “If you had to guess…what would it be?”

I stared at her for a moment and contemplated all the reasons her parents would’ve given her such a name. “Your mom begged for mercy while she was in labor with you.”

“You’re such a good guesser,” she said, humor coloring her tone.

“Is that really the reason? Or are you just fucking with me?”

“You’ll never know, will you, Brogan?” Not only did Mercy lookinnocent, but she acted and flirted like a good girl you’d bring home to meet your mom. And for someone like me, that was a dangerous trait to have. “Or should I call you Wrong?”

My chest constricted so rapidly, so harshly that I lost the ability to breathe for a moment. The mere the thought of her referring to me aswrongin any fashion—regardless of it being my nickname and everyone else under the sun calling me that—resembled a sledgehammer to my sternum. “No. Call me by my name.”

Any sign of amusement in her expression fell away. Apprehension curled her shoulders and embarrassment lowered her lashes, preventing me from seeing her eyes. I hated that she’d blocked me out. More than any other time since meeting her, this was the moment I needed to see them the most.

“Mercy…” It was raspy and low, my throat unwilling to release her name for fear it’d slip away and I’d never get it back. But before I could say anything else, she lifted her gaze. And I stopped breathing for an entirely new reason.

Two burning embers stared back at me, desperate and hungry for just one breeze to bring them back to life. Needing to ground myself, I grabbed ahold of her legs, behind her knees, and stepped between them. With her thighs against my hips, she gasped, and her eyes popped open wider. And those two dangerous, smoldering embers became two raging fires, yearning to burn out of control.

“Women call me Wrong because they climb into my bed thinking I’m Mr. Right, and then leave knowing I’m nothing but wrong for them. That’s why I want you to call me by my name. Call me Brogan. Not Wrong.”

“Okay…”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The Reality Of Wright And Wrong doesn’t really fall into the typical romance tropes. It’s a marriage, but not one of convenience. It’s kind of instalove, but not really. It’s not quite opposites attract. But it is a phenomenal story of soulmates, an intense reaction to another person, and trusting your heart.

Mercy is so damn wish-washy through most of this book, and I felt that Brogan was a saint for not walking away from her! He’s so patient and kind and gentle, and so sure in the connection that they share. Once a Playboy, he’s an absolute goner from the first night that they met.

I didn’t completely agree with some of Mercy’s decisions at first when it came to her Fiance, and how she handled the situation, but as the story unfolded, I understood why LH wrote it that way.

Brogan is not at all the kind of guy you’d assume a tatted and pierced hulk to be. But he is a swoony alpha hero, a pure romantic and such a kind soul. Sigh. I understood all of Mercy’s reasons for being so hesitant with their relationship, and I was so happy when she came around.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About the Author:

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped. She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females. The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. And to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
