Blurb
Nate Reynolds is everything I shouldn’t want. Aside from being my best friend’s older brother, he’s a cocky, smooth-talking, panty-dropping playboy of a cop. And yet, I’m helplessly drawn to him.

His charm and good looks reduce me to a fumbling, mumbling teenaged version of myself, which pretty much guarantees that nothing will ever come of my silly crush.

Until the night of my best friend’s wedding.

Jenny Jones is the definition of innocence. She’s also my little sister’s best friend, making her

completely off limits. She’s a forever kind of girl with hearts in her eyes, where I’ve always been more of a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy.

Until a night spent between the sheets with her has me questioning everything I thought I wanted.

I tried my hardest to stay away, but you know what they say about the best intentions …

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Oh, I loved Best Of Intentions! Jenny is full of fire, sassy and self-confident. Nate is a sexy cop, but gentle and sweet and considerate and kind. She’s been harboring a crush on Nate, the older brother of her best friend Natalie, for years, and the night of Natalie and Alden’s wedding, Jenny makes her move.

Nate doesn’t do relationships, and Jenny doesn’t do one-night stands. She knows what she’s getting into, but when Nate keeps coming back for more, Jenny is getting all kinds of mixed signals. She finally puts her foot down when it comes to not being Nate’s booty call, and they put each other firmly in the friend zone. Naturally, that is when Nate realizes that he’s envisioning a future with Jenny in it, but will the scars of his past prevent him from grabbing onto a future?

I loved these two together. They balanced each other out, their banter was witty, and they were wonderfully written characters. The heat level was just hot enough, and there were plenty of sweet moments between them that had nothing to do with the bedroom. Oh, and little Tatum! That child steals the show!

I had not read Best Laid Plans (Natalie and Alden’s story) previously, so there were a few references made to that book that I was in the dark about, but none of that took away from my enjoyment of Nate and Jenny’s story. I will be going back to read that one now! And I really hope that Nate’s partner gets his own story, because I want to know more about him!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt
With the very tips of my fingers, I drag them down her arm to her elbow. I wrap my hand around her and pull her impossibly closer. Her head nestles against my chest as we sway to the music.

I keep her on the dance floor for at least four songs, unwilling to let her go. Thank God, they were all slow, because I don’t think I’m ready to really feel her move. Even now, with us merely rocking back and forth, her body feels so damn good pressed up against mine—and don’t even get me started on the way she occasionally presses her nails into my chest.

On song five, my luck runs out. The bass thumps low as she spins and presses her back into my front. Jenny may struggle to talk around me, but her body is saying all the things her words don’t. She swivels her hips as the tempo climbs, and the semi I’ve been sporting is in real danger of rivaling the damn tent the reception is being held in.

Seemingly unaware of my mental—and physical—struggle, Jenny keeps right on grinding her ass into me. Deciding to go with it, I palm her hips and move with her. My rhythm isn’t quite as good as hers, but we’re in sync enough for me to know we would be on-fucking-fire if we were doing this dance between the sheets instead.

Right, because that’s what I need to be thinking about right now.

Aubrey Reynolds is a small-town girl who’s made it big.

A successful Hollywood director, Aubrey doesn’t have time to linger on what could have been.

But when a routine blood test comes back with a false positive, she decides to take some time off to do the things she’s always wanted to do: taste the famous chocolate chip cookies at the Minnesota State Fair, hike the Grand Teton National Park, scuba dive in the Caribbean.

But after Aubrey admits to herself what she’s really missing, she heads back home to Dusty Valley, Oklahoma . . . and the man she left behind.

Cole Haywood is a small-town fireman and that’s just fine with him.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

When a false positive blood test has director Aubrey thinking that she has just weeks left to live, she starts to think about all she hasn’t done with her life… and the biggest regret is the love she left behind in small-town Oklahoma. But is it too late for a second chance with Cole?

I have mixed feelings about Love, Again. I wanted more anger from Cole, I think. While I was glad that the reunion between Aubrey and Cole happens pretty early on, and the second half of the book is then reconnecting on their shared Bucket List trip, I wanted *more* of *something* before all was forgiven. Yes, they are both still desperately in love with one another, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more back and forth before they kissed and made up.

I’d love to see Bennett and Emilia get their own story. That instalove between the two of them captured my interest more than Cole and Aubrey.

Still, Love, Again was a sweet second-chance romance. Low drama, and a HEA that ties everything up with a nice bow as Aubrey finds a way to have her cake and eat it too when it comes to her directing career and life with Cole in small-town Oklahoma.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I always knew Aubrey’s path and mine would collide one day, but I definitely wasn’t ready for it. For years I closed myself off from my feelings, but the second she came into town, they all hit me in the fucking face. I’d seen her on TV, winning her many awards, but seeing her in person hurt on a deeper level. It killed me to walk away from her, but I was so damn pissed. Ten years of pent-up emotions that I hadn’t been able to deal with were bursting out of me. I didn’t know how to cope with it.
Pulling into my driveway, I slammed on the brakes and hopped out. My chest felt like it’d been ripped wide open. I stormed inside my house and went straight for the liquor, knowing it wasn’t the way to deal with the issue. Turning up the bottle of the whiskey, I gulped down a couple of chugs. It burned the whole way down to my stomach, but it took the edge off. I don’t know how long I sat at my kitchen bar, staring at the half-drunk bottle before my brother’s voice echoed from behind.
“Has she already driven you to drinking?”
I turned around, and there was my brother, standing in the kitchen doorway. Gaze narrowed, I slammed the bottle on the counter. “How could you not tell me she was in town?”
Bennett sighed and lowered his head. “I’m sorry. There was no time.” Then he looked over at me. “After I ran into her at the fair, I took her to where she was staying and we started talking. She told me the truth about everything. You need to let her explain.”
I threw my arms in the air. “Like it’s going to make me forget the last ten years.” When Aubrey said she was filled with regret and guilt, I was too. I’d hated myself for not doing what I should’ve done when she left. Grabbing the bottle of whiskey, I set it on the kitchen table and sat down. Bennett sat across from me, his accusatory stare right on mine. We both knew Aubrey wasn’t the only one to blame.
“You two have a lot of talking to do, brother,” Bennett said. “I understand if you’re mad, and that’s okay, but you owe it to each other to work this out.”
I shook my head. “We can’t just turn back time.”
Bennett’s lips pulled up in a sly grin, and he shrugged. “Maybe not. Then again, it might be best you move on for good. That way, I can have Aubrey all to myself. If you don’t want her, I’d be happy to take her off your hands. We both know I’m better looking.”

A feeling I hadn’t felt in a long time ignited in my veins. Jealousy. Bennett knew better than to take what was mine. And there it was . . . the stark realization hitting me upside the head. I’d tried to convince myself for years that I was over Aubrey, but in fact I was still in love with her, no matter how much I wanted to hate her for leaving. I hated myself more for not following her, even when she told me not to.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L. P. Dover is a southern belle living in North Carolina with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she began her literary journey she worked in periodontics, enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.

She loves to write, but she also loves to play golf, go on mountain hikes, and has a passion for singing. Her youngest daughter, who she’s also written a children’s book with, expects a concert each and every night before bedtime, usually Christmas carols.

Dover has written countless novels in several different genres, including a children’s book with her youngest daughter, but her favorite to write is romantic suspense. However, she has found a new passion in romantic comedy, especially involving sexy golfers. Who knew the sport could be so dirty and fun to write about.

Release Blitz: What Matters More, by Liora Blake

What Matters More
Liora Blake
Publication date: April 9th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

A sexy contemporary romance about what happens when a casual one-night stand becomes anything but casual.

JT Maxwell has it all . . . well, almost. He’s a US Marshal, he looks like he belongs in an aftershave commercial, and he has tattoos—lots of tattoos. Unfortunately, he’s also in debt up to his pretty blue eyeballs. Between that and his recent divorce, his personal life is nonexistent these days. But when a free-spirited artist approaches him for a no-strings-attached one-night stand, things suddenly start looking up.

Anya Alves’s life is a mess. She’s lost her job, caught her boyfriend cheating on her, and if it weren’t for the house-sitting gig she just landed, she’d be homeless. On top of all that, her creative muse has up and disappeared. If she doesn’t get it back, her burgeoning career as an artist will be over before it starts. But after indulging in a steamy hook-up with a guy who makes it easy to forget her troubles, she gets her mojo back.

The last thing she expects when starting her house-sitting job, is to see her sexy one-night stand again . . . living right across the street.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo

EXCERPT:

Anya managed a nervous smile and thrust her arms forward, with the baking pan perched in her hands like an offering—one she suddenly wasn’t sure would be welcome.

“We made enchiladas for dinner,” she blurted out. “And we saved some for you. Tara said you can send her a thank-you note tomorrow. I kept them warm, and I have salad and some beer, too. Are you hungry?”

JT’s gaze zeroed in on the pan in her hands and he simply stared at it, not saying a word, even when Anya cleared her throat to ease the uncomfortable silence. She felt a blush creeping across her cheeks, and a panicked thought hit her. One that if she hadn’t lost her mind earlier, she would have been able to see coming before she found herself with these damn oven mitts on her hands.

Maybe this was a mistake.

She could see how this must look, this show of domesticity on her part that he certainly hadn’t asked for or even insinuated that he wanted. But here she was, making him dinner and keeping it warm until he arrived home, like she was some proper Kennedy-era housewife—which, on so many levels, she definitely wasn’t. Even the outfit she’d changed into, a lavender floral mini dress, made it look like all she was missing was a cute little vintage apron to complete the look.

Oh, God.

Of course this was a mistake.

Anya considered setting the pan on the ground and walking away without saying another word. But then JT locked his eyes with hers. A hungry, heated look was on his face, and because she was regretting this whole thing now, she wasn’t sure whether that look was for her or the enchiladas. Either way, she needed him to say something soon because she was about to drop this hot pan and swoon, although not necessarily in that order.

“I’m starving,” JT rumbled. Then he made his way toward the door into the house, opened it, and invited Anya in with just the tip of his chin. She scooted past him in the doorway and swore that when she did, he actually grunted quietly as she passed.

Even then, she still wasn’t sure what he wanted to eat first.

JUNK MAIL by Kendall Ryan is coming April 23. And today we have an EXCERPT!

About the Book

It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops.

Not my finest moment—but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere—on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton , in case you’re not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

JunkMail-iBooks3

EXCERPT

Let’s get down to the nuts and bolts of this, shall we?”

Nuts?

Seriously, Hanson? Of all the words in the English language, you choose nuts?

But hey, on the plus side, she hasn’t seen the boys, just their leader.

Even so, I need to keep this meeting above the belt, including my own damn thoughts. I offer Peyton another apologetic smile. Time to get this deal back on track.

Want to tell me more about your company?”

I do. I really do.”

Her tone shifts instantly when she mentions her business, making me even more keen to hear her pitch.

I smile. A perfect, professional smile, as I cross my legs and fold my hands in my lap. I’m a motherfucking gentleman, not a junk-shot-sending caveman. “I want to hear all about it, Peyton.”

The only way to get past this mixup is to focus on business.

Not on her pretty face.

Not on those gorgeous eyes.

And definitely not on that dark hair I want to wrap around my fist and yank on it hard.

Four fucking months . . . that’s what’s wrong with my libido. It’s not operating in its normal overdrive. No, today, it’s at fucking warp speed. This is what happens when your own hand becomes your closest companion.

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I’ve been a huge fan of J. Bengtsson’s Cake series, so I was excited to dive into this standalone book and see how it measures up to my beloved McKallisters. She did not disappoint!

There is so much to love about Bodhi and Breeze! Like The Wind was full of heart and hope, deceit and betrayal, love and loss and faith. These two characters come together in the most traumatic way: escaping a Southern California wildfire. At first sight, a former child star/boy band singer and a free-spirited hairdresser were the most unlikely couple, but Bodhi and Breeze just worked together so well. She grounds him in a way that he’s never experienced. Bodhi has led such a sheltered life and is so naïve in many ways. Breeze just opens up his world to the simple pleasures in life and for the first time, Bodhi feels like someone sees him for who he truly is.

But when his celebrity star begins to encroach on the little bubble they’ve created for themselves, will Bodhi lose the woman he suddenly can’t imagine living without to the wind?

teaser1

Man, my heart bled for Bodhi. The way those in his life betrayed him was awful. It was done for the right reasons, and I understood his father’s reasons for doing what he did, but it was still tough to read and not feel badly for the guy. As with the rest of her books, JB writes relatable characters, and an engaging story that grabbed me from the start and had me anxiously waiting to get to the end to find out if Breeze and Bodhi will get their HEA.

I loved the wink at the end to Jake from Cake and his little brother, Quinn! I hope that when we finally get to Quinn’s story in the Cake series that we’ll get an update on Bodhi and Breeze.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About J. BENGTSSON

A professional stay-at-home-mom for twenty-one years, Jill started her writing career in 2016 after reading a really bad rockstar romance. Although she had no previous writing experience and no desire to become an author, Jill was convinced she could write a better story.

And so began Cake: A Love Story. She wrote the novel for fun and added every single thing she’d ever wanted to read in a romance. Embarrassed by her newfound hobby, Jill kept her writing a secret from her family.

When the story was complete, she turned to Amazon to get the feedback she desired. Not thinking the book would ever sell, Jill planned to pull Cake off Amazon once it got a review or two but that never happened because, within a week of its release, Cake began to soar up the bestseller charts. Not only was Jill shocked by Cake’s success but now she had a whole new burgeoning career on her hands…and some explaining to do. Needless to say, the news of Jill’s secret book bay came as a complete shock to her husband and three children.

Jill is now a full-time writer.

In a split-second, a car crash killed almost everything between them. Ten years later, can one accidental ride fix tattered spirits, uncertain futures, and broken hearts?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The glimpses that we got of Lily and Bowen in Fleeting (Nash Brothers #1) were enough breadcrumbs to work me up into a frenzy about reading Forgiven. They both still clearly loved one another, so what happened that night 10 years ago when they got into a car accident that pulled them apart the way that it did? Why couldn’t they work things out?

Forgiven is full of all the best angsty goodness. It’s a wonderful second-chance romance with a forbidden twist. When Keaton and Presley (from Fleeting) ask their brother and best friend, respectively, to be the best man and maid of honor in their upcoming wedding, Bowen and Lily are forced into each other’s orbits after avoiding one another for a decade. As much as it pains Bow to be around her, he just can’t hide how miserable he is. Unfortunately, Lily takes that as him hating her, and she has no idea why.

Our love had been destroyed in the car crash, and it was floating somewhere between the curve in the road, the place Bowen had swerved to avoid a deer, and the dashboard my head had slammed into.

If she only knew. Little by little, the walls that Bowen has surrounding himself break down, and he can’t help himself when it comes to her. He still loves her, has always loved her. And her him. But is it enough to risk a secret that would ruin the both of them a second time?

I must admit, once the reason why Bowen had stayed away from Lily all this time was revealed, I kind of wanted to smack him. I get why he did what he did as a scared 18 year old, but he could have saved them both all kinds of emotional turmoil had he just come clean with Lily once they were both grown adults. But once the ugly truth is all out in the open, and a little time goes by for healing, Bowen and Lily rise above the hurt and anger, and forge their own way. They may have lost 10 years together, but there is no lack of love, support and understanding between them.

This book was the best kind of second-chance romance. I can’t wait to see what Carrie Aarons brings to the twins next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Before We Fell, by Stacey Lynn

BWF - BT banner.jpg

“An emotional, angsty story of two soulmates torn apart by circumstances beyond their control.
You’ll laugh, cry and root for them all the way. Stacey Lynn hits it out of the park!”
~ Carly Phillips NY Times Bestselling Author

“Sexy, gripping, and heartwarming. With a hero that made my book-boyfriend all-stars list and a fast-paced plot that had me turning pages way past my bedtime, Before We Fell is a top 2019 read for me!”
~Author P. Dangelico

BeforeWeFell-Ebook

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The horror that rocked my small town last winter also brought Noah Wilkes into my life. The first almost broke all of us, but the second changed everything.

He stomped into my classroom all angry scowls and rudeness, the big-shot lawyer who was always too good for this small town. But the moment his smile softened toward his niece, it was me that melted.

The heartbreak that brought him back also brought me closer to him, to the man he hides from the world behind his swagger and aggression. The man I couldn’t help but fall for.

But life has a way of throwing a curveball when you least expect it, and this one could cost me everything–even him.

Turned out, our fates were written in the sky before we ever met—

Before we fell.

BWF - AN

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Before We Fell is one of those books where the main characters are destined to cross paths. The twist to this story that ultimately breaks them apart is not one that I saw coming, and it was heartbreaking.

Noah is a ruthless defense attorney whose world is flipped upside down when he’s given custody of his young niece. He moves Riley back to his hometown, where Lauren is a schoolteacher. She and Noah definitely get off on the wrong foot. He’s grumpy, rude, arrogant… but as it turns out, he’s also just extremely frustrated and angry and doesn’t know how to get through to his niece and feels badly that Riley’s teacher, a virtual stranger, can.

Noah and Lauren begin to spend more time together, at first to help Riley. But there’s so much more to their friendship, and as Lauren chips away at Noah’s gruff exterior, she finds a sweet and caring guy underneath. A guy who is a bit of a mess, but one nonetheless who gives her a sense of home for the first time in her life.

But this story has a twist! When everything comes out, and Noah and Lauren are torn apart, I was sobbing when she went to him seeking answers. I was sobbing when she went back again to say her final goodbye. After everything she’d gone through in her childhood, it was painful the way he casts her aside. But will Noah realize that he’s making a huge mistake before it’s too late?

Excerpt:

It was the darkness covering us, shadowing everything except us. It was the tease of her all night. It was her laughter. Her scent. It was her.

I did exactly what I just said I shouldn’t. Couldn’t. My hand went to her cheek. I slid my fingers beneath her ear, brushing my thumb against the warmth of her skin. “Lauren.”

Her hand curled around my wrist. She didn’t push it away. She didn’t pull me toward her. She gaped at me, mouth parting, lip sliding along her bottom lip. Her pulse pounded against my fingertips.

“We shouldn’t,” she whispered. “You’re right. I’m Riley’s teacher. I don’t want to make things any harder for her than they already are.”

She was right.

The problem was I was harder than I’d ever been and what about my needs? It was selfish, but thirty-five years of selfish living wasn’t easily kicked to the curb despite my efforts.

“Okay,” I whispered back. “I understand.”

I leaned in anyway, dropping my head, and as I moved like I was going to kiss her, her breath caught, and her eyes fluttered closed. Tempting. So damn tempting.

It took a larger force of will than I normally used with women, but I ignored her mouth, moved to her cheek, but instead of kissing her cheek, I pressed my lips to my thumb on her. I tasted her flesh without touching her, lingered there while her muscles tensed and she inhaled a sharp breath. Her shoulders went tight and her scent invaded me so deeply I knew I’d need more from her.

And I’d take it when the time was right.

“Goodnight, Miss Frazier,” I said, grinning against my thumb, wishing she’d tell me to kiss her.

She didn’t. She pressed on my wrist, pushing my hand away from her. I let her go reluctantly, stepping back and licking my own lips.

“Goodnight, Mr. Wilkes.” Her grin shook. Like we shared a secret joke.

We definitely shared a secret. I admitted I wanted her.

She didn’t tell me she didn’t feel the same…just that we shouldn’t.

Which wasn’t close to being the same as couldn’t.

Or wouldn’t.

My lawyer-sharp mind found the loophole. Someday I’d figure out a way to exploit it.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Confession: I almost gave up on Bad Boy Blues about five chapters in. Zach was SUCH an a-hole, and I was really wondering if I’d be able to see some redeeming quality about him that would make him a worthy hero, alpha a-hole or not. But I pushed through, and I am so glad that I did because this was a heartbreaking, heartwarming, gut-wrenching story that I would have missed out on.

This book has some darker themes — dyslexia, abuse, neglect, bullying, death — but Saffron A. Kent handles it all so delicately while still being wildly entertaining. When Blue flips the script and realizes that she’d been just as cruel to Zach (albeit unknowingly) as he’d been to her, that’s when this enemies-to-lovers romance really turned a corner for me. Things are not always as they appear, and while Zach may live in a ivory tower, it’s full of dark secrets and very lonely.

I love how Blue did not give up on wanting to be his friend, his support. He was so reluctant to take that support from her, considering their past history. But she pushes through his boundaries, breaks down his walls, and while it nearly destroys her, it also guts him and that was a wonderful turnabout. These two characters grow so much over the course of this book, and their journey is full of angst and hurt, and had me sobbing more than once, but it ends with a marvelous HEA. I am so glad I stuck with it!

She calls me a prince and herself, Cinderella. I agree. She’s my Cinderella. Except in our story, Cinderella saves the prince.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Eleanor & Grey, by Brittainy C. Cherry

E&G - BT banner.jpg

Eleanor & Grey, an all-new beautiful and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is available now!

Eleanor & Grey FOR WEB

Greyson East left his mark on me.

As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.

Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.

I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man.

The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.

When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only.

He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.

But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.

I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

Excerpt:

Eleanor

Thirty-two years old

Greyson’s assistant, Allison, finished giving me a tour of the house. “Okay, I think that’s everything. I’m going to head out now, but go ahead and make yourself comfortable. Get used to the property. Mr. East knows you’re here today, so don’t feel like you aren’t allowed to wander around a bit. If you need anything, my cell number is on the contact list in the book, or you can email me. If nothing comes up, I hope your first day goes well. Claire will be with you Monday to make sure the transition goes smoothly.”

I must have looked terrified because as Allison grabbed her coat and purse to leave, she gave me a light squeeze on the shoulder.

“You’re going to be fine, Eleanor. Mind over matter. You got this. Let’s touch base later in the week so I can check in on how things are going.”

“Sounds great. Thanks, Allison.”

After she left, I took a deep breath and flipped through a few pages in the binder. Then, I did a once-through of the house, familiarizing myself with whose room was where. There was something so unsettling about the quietness of Greyson’s home. It was so dark with an odd gloomy feeling attached to it, haunting almost. I didn’t mean dark as in the lighting situation, rather it was the energy level. There was such a heaviness in the space.

The place felt like a house, not a home.

If I hadn’t known any better, I wouldn’t have believed a family lived there at all.

It felt so abandoned, almost like a memory frozen in time.

That might’ve just been my own thoughts, thought, due to knowing about the tragedy that had taken place in the lives of the individuals who lived there. With the number of books I’d read, it wasn’t inaccurate to say my mind wandered toward the dramatics.

I walked back into the kitchen, flipping through the binder, completely taken aback by the girls’ schedules. Between school, swim lessons, karate, piano lessons, physical therapy, and grief counseling, I wasn’t sure how they found the time to live a little.

“Eleanor.”

I leaped out of my skin at the sound of my name and turned to see Greyson standing behind me with an empty glass in his hand. He was dressed in a suit and tie, which was so strange to me.

Who wore a suit and tie in their own home?

I hardly wore pants when I was home alone.

“Oh, Greyson, hi. Sorry I’m still here. Allison was just giving me a tour, and she said it was okay to look around a bit more.”

“She made me aware.”

Wow. He had responded immediately, unlike the first time I saw him. I called that progress.

I smiled at him, but he didn’t smile back, and that felt like the oddest thing in the world. The old Greyson had been full of smiles.

“It’s a beautiful home,” I stated, unsure what else to talk about. “It’s massive. I swear, it’s like ten times the size of my place.” He blankly stared my way as I shifted from foot to foot. “I love the décor,” I blurted out, and I hated myself the second the words left my lips. Just walk away, Eleanor. Don’t be awkward. “Those throw pillows in your living room are to die for. Where did you get them?”

“The interior designer chose everything,” he replied dryly.

“Oh, right, of course. My interior designer is normally the clearance section at T.J. Maxx,” I joked. “Or on special occasions, Target.”

He didn’t laugh, probably because I wasn’t funny.

I wondered when was the last time he’d laughed.

Did he ever find anything funny anymore?

We kept staring at one another in the most uncomfortable silence, though I didn’t feel as if I could pull myself away from it. I probably stared at him too long, but how could I not? I’d gone fifteen-some years without looking at him. It was understandable that I wouldn’t be able to turn away quickly.

The awkwardness of it all finally came to a halt when Greyson cleared his throat.

“Eleanor?”

“Yes?”

“I came for water.”

“Oh?” I stared at him like an idiot, wide-eyed like a deer in headlights, waiting for his next words. I stood still as if he were going to expand on his interest in water. Was he offering me a drink? Were we going to sip water and catch up on things? Was I finally going to be able to ask him how he’d become the CEO of his father’s company at such a young age? What had happened to his father?

His stare narrowed, and his lips turned down in a displeased fashion. He nodded once.

“Hmm?” I asked.

He nodded more aggressively this time, gesturing past me.

I glanced behind me and realized I was standing right in front of the refrigerator, blocking the water dispenser. I stepped to the side, mentally beating myself up.

Idiot.

“Oh, right, of course. Well, I think I’m done here, so I’ll see myself out,” I stated, scrambling to grab my binder. “Have a good afternoon.”

He didn’t reply, but that wasn’t shocking. I was quickly learning that this new Greyson didn’t have nearly as much to say as the old one.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Brittainy C. Cherry is a master storyteller. In every book, she builds you up, tears you apart, and puts you back together again. She does that with her characters, too, but my emotions always run the gamut when I am reading one of her romances.

Eleanor & Grey is an epic love story, told in two parts. We first meet Eleanor (Ellie) and Greyson (Grey) at a high school party. She’s a Harry Potter-loving loner, he’s a popular jock. Her disinterest in Grey makes him want to know her better; as it turns out, he’s just as lonely as she is, and feels like Ellie is the first person to see him for who he truly is. I love, love, love that after she tells him that they have nothing in common, therefore, nothing to talk about should they hang out, Grey goes out and reads all of the Harry Potter books! Swoon! But Harry isn’t the only thing they have in common: He’s mourning the recent loss of his grandfather to cancer, and Ellie’s mother is dying of breast cancer. Once a week, Grey takes Ellie out on adventures to get her mind off of the situation at home, and they embark on a wonderfully sweet friendship… that is something more. They never define what they are to one another, but they both know that the other is forever seared into their soul.

I am me, he is he, we are us.

Unfortunately, even though Grey helps Ellie through the darkest period of her life after her mother dies, and they have fallen in love, time and distance (and college) eventually comes between them. Despite all the pinky promises, they drift apart. When Part 2 begins, it’s 15 years later, Grey has been widowed and Ellie has no idea that the new nanny position she’s interviewing for is for his two daughters.

Grey the man is not at all like the boy Ellie knew and loved. He’s cold and hardened, a recluse who all but ignores his daughters. But because he once helped save her when she was drowning, Ellie is determined to return the favor. It’s not an easy road — Grey has some major issues, as do his daughters Lorelai and Karla — and there are some heartbreaking turns along the way.

I wish that there was some more backstory about Grey and Nicole. He obviously met her and they got pregnant pretty early on in college because Karla is 14. But I would have loved to have gotten some more insight into their relationship and their marriage, and how that affected Grey after her death.

Still, Eleanor & Grey was a masterpiece. It takes some time, and a lot of patience and understanding, but Ellie and Grey finally find their forever, and it is a magnificent journey. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Kylie Scott puts a great twist on second-chance romance with Repeat! Amnesiac Clementine walks into a tattoo shop one day, hoping that the owner might be able to offer her some clues to her past. She never imagines that sexy Ed is her ex-boyfriend, and he is NOT happy to see her! Just before her accident, Clem broke things off and then pretty much disappeared from his life. It’s only been a few months, so the pain is still so very raw for Ed, but he reluctantly agrees to answer Clem’s questions and help her fill in the holes of her memory.

Repeat is a wonderful exploration in how this couple comes back together. I just wished it was told from dual POV, because although we get a really great look via Clementine at the pain Ed is going through in having her back in his life, back in his home, I would have loved to have seen some of the situations from his side of the story.

There is a lot of struggle on both of their sides as they try to piece their relationship back together. She doesn’t know who she was in the past, and the retrograde amnesia has kind of altered her personality a bit. For the better? Perhaps. Ed struggles with wanting to take this new version of Clem at face value, but can’t help but feel the pain of how she wrecked him when she left. It’s a delicate balance, but Kylie Scott does a fantastic job of bringing it all together.
