BLURB

I have nothing left.

One moment of weakness seven years ago, and I lost my job, my art, and my only friend. Now I’m working nights at a gas station to scrape together a living and a way to care for my sister, and I’m completely alone.

And then I see him on the front page of the newspaper, my former college student and the man who ruined my life seven years ago.

Ryan Bell.

So I carve a statue of the devil and I give the devil Bell’s face. I leave it for the world to see.

I shouldn’t have done it. I should have known he’d use the statue to hunt me, find me, offer a deal that demands my soul. He wants one year of me—all of me—and then he’ll make my problems go away.

How can I refuse? When it’s my only chance of salvation? How can I refuse even when I know Ryan Bell will leave me with a broken heart—again?

But it’s my own fault…I should have stayed hidden, I shouldn’t have revealed how the memory of him haunts me still. I was the one who spoke of the devil, after all.

I can’t be surprised that he appeared.

(This is the fourth full-length standalone in the Priest Collection, featuring Father Bell’s youngest brother, Ryan Bell. You do not have to read Priest, Sinner, or Saint to read Devil.)

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I have been a fan of Sierra Simone’s Priest series for years, having started with the OG forbidden romance that was Tyler and Poppy. I have enjoyed reading all the Bell brothers’ stories, and Ryan’s book really took things to an entirely different level! I am not typically a fan of stalker romances, but as a fan of this series, I wasn’t going to miss closing it out by not reading about Ryan and Birdie.

Devil is such a fitting name for Ry. This book is definitely darker than the others in this series, and Ryan is borderline psychotic in his obsession with Birdie. Once I just accepted the fact that he was definitely more twisted than his brothers and that everything he did with Birdie was out of some twisted sense of love (because otherwise, WTH, dude?), I quite enjoyed this story. Ryan Bell really was the worst and best thing to ever happen to Birdie.

Birdie was so broken. She fought for everything in her life, and after she lost it all (no thanks to Ry), she was at rock bottom. So when presented with the chance to make things up for her, Ryan really went all out to do so. I don’t want to give anything away, but the guy had A PLAN. He may have gone about it the wrong way, but it leads to quite a spectacular grovel after the Third Act Breakup.

The juxtaposition of Ryan’s devilish behavior with the religious concepts good, sweet, Catholic Birdie tries to abide by were delicious. This story is not a breezy, fluffy one. But the fact that Sierra Simone was able to take all that and turn Ryan into someone that I was rooting for to get the girl by the end of the story? Well, that’s why she’s a master.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
