Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Maddie and Nash’s story was amazing! This slow-burn best friends romance is full of heart, longing, and loyalty, with Catherine Cowles’ signature suspense threaded through. Best friends-to-more is one of my favorite tropes, especially when the author really relays the history between the characters. Cowles always does a fantastic job with her character development, and I *got* all of it between Nash and Maddie.

Growing up, Maddie and Nash were like two peas in a pod, but as they got older, Maddie wanted more from their relationship and didn’t think Nash was interested in the same. So she left town, and that decision altered her life forever. Now, with nowhere else to go after leaving her abusive ex, she is back in Cedar Ridge and reestablishing her relationship with Nash. Needless to say, Nash is not happy to hear that Maddie’s ex hurt her, and he goes into full-blown protector mode. Especially since Nash has been keeping a secret about their past.

I loved these two so much, and Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon did such a wonderful job with the narration of this story. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

I read an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
