Sunny Shelly’s Review: Stay Tonight by Kaylee Ryan

Title: Stay Tonight
Series: Kincaid Brothers #3
Author: Kaylee Ryan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 10, 2023
It’s always been her, and I just never realized. Now that I’m looking at her that way, I can’t unsee it… and I don’t want to. Alyssa has been my best friend since kindergarten, and these intense new feelings could cost me our friendship.
She’s the one I share everything with, good or bad. It makes sense to share my life with her. But I can’t risk losing the only woman I’ve ever loved, which will happen if she doesn’t feel the same.
Alyssa is loyal and kind and takes my breath away. I just wish it hadn’t taken me so long to figure out what’s been right in front of me.
Falling for my best friend is easy, but keeping it to myself while figuring out what to do about it is the hard part. Because in a small town, everyone knows everyone… and their business.
Sterling is the perfect guy—handsome, with a heart of gold and a protective streak. I know he’ll do anything for me… except maybe admit he feels the same way I do.
So, I’m stuck in limbo and am in love with my best friend. Just when I work up the nerve to finally tell him how I feel, everything changes with a confession and two words: stay tonight.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I’ve been super excited about Alyssa and Sterling’s story ever since I met them as secondary characters in the other related books in this series. And Kaylee Ryan delivered a great best-friends/friends-to-lovers romance with these two characters in Stay Tonight.

When cousin Ramsey and the Kinkaid sisters-in-law plant a seed in Sterling’s mind, and then Alyssa’s mind, about how their relationship will inevitably change when one of them seriously starts dating, it sparks something inside them both. (Really, neither of them has had a serious adult relationship in the last 10 years?) As it turns out, both Alyssa and Sterling saw each other as more than just friends back in high school, but neither made a move. And now, as adults, they are essentially in a relationship without romance. After a weekend getaway with the Kinkaid family, both Alyssa and Sterling are starting to want more from each other.

I loved his little movements here and there, the flirting, the PDA. But it just took them both so dang long to talk it out and I wanted to slap them both upside the head! And then the miscommunication between them drove me batty, but thankfully it is quickly resolved. This slow-burn story has a great payoff when Sterling and Alyssa finally get on the same page.

From there, their romantic relationship moves super fast, but after 20 years in the making, I was okay with it. I loved the way this story ended for this couple, and I can’t wait to see more from them in the future books in this series. While these books are all standalone and focus on one couple, the Kinkaid brothers are a close-knit bunch, so there are lots of great scenes with the other couples from previous books, and I loved getting to see them all again.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
