Eve is a hopeless romantic who believes in fairy tales and happily ever afters. Miles is a grumpy loner who only does one-night-stands and doesn’t believe in love. There is an intense attraction between them, but Eve wants more than Miles is able to give.
I really liked these characters and the journey that they go on. Miles is such a broken guy, who can’t seem to move past the scars of his past no matter how much he wants to. The feelings he has for Eve kind of catch him off guard until all of a sudden he finds himself as enamored with her as she is with him. It isn’t an easy journey for these two — there are so many things working against them.
This book is part of a series, so there is a continuing storyline about a cartel. I haven’t read the other books, so there were details I wasn’t fully aware of, but I pieced it together fairly well. Overall, Besotted is a page-turning angsty story of unrequited love.
