When James
let go of her hand he reached for their coffees. “Do you want to ruin this
perfect espresso with sugar?”
“Yes,
please.” Mila needed a bit of a rush which didn’t include James’s body next to
hers, or his hands and fingers, which reminded her of that morning.
James
spooned some sugar into her black espresso and stirred it. “Here you go. Butter
bomb?” he asked as he shifted the plate with pastries closer to her.
“If I have
to.” She licked her lips, her mouth watering just looking at the
picture-perfect pastries. Her mind could list a hundred reasons why she
shouldn’t, health-conscious as she’d been forced to be. But this… she wasn’t
going to resist.
He smiled
at her. “You have to. You’re in Paris.”
Caving in,
Mila took a bite with a soft moan. “They’re sinful.”
A soft
smile tugged at his lips as he gazed at her, but he said nothing as he ate his
own. When he tossed his coffee back and put the cup down, he looked at her,
serious now. “What do you want for your life, Mila?”
She
blinked. As if anybody had ever cared. “I want to see the world, and not only
from its rugby stadiums.”
“There’s
much more to it, I agree.”
“I want to
find my niche in art. I’ve been floundering lately. I need some visual…
inspiration, to find my way back to what I love doing.”
“And this
is why you are in Paris?”
“The
primary reason.”
He hitched
his eyebrows. “I see.” A smile sparkled in his eyes. “You want to elaborate on
the secondary… and tertiary reasons?”
Heat shot
to her cheeks. How did he know? Stacey’s freaking to-do list with losing her
virginity the first thing on said list. “Already accomplished.”
He leaned
into her, the warmth of his body enveloping hers, making her clench her legs
together, overly aware of their thighs that had been rubbing against each other
for the past half hour. His lips were at her ear, grazing softly from the top
to the soft bud of her earlobe. “I’m glad I could be of service.”
The
sensation of his intimate whisper shot to her core, making her innards pool.
“Don’t go there,” she murmured. She wanted to sink and hide under the table.
Did he think that she’d used him? Had she? The thought was too much, overridden
by that very familiar tingling inside her lower belly. There was a buzz in her
body that demanded attention—his attention—as a memory or two of that morning
flitted in her mind’s eye. There was only one way to switch this feeling off.
By giving in to it.
Oh no no no. She shifted in her chair, breaking the
connection between their thighs.
He laughed
and leaned back, his hands cupped behind his head. Totally relaxed, his gaze
rested on her—soft, but containing something she couldn’t place.
Author Bio
I’ve always been drawn to the magical escape of books and
the journeys they take us on without leaving the comfort of home. I’ve been
fortunate to have traveled to France, and this book was inspired by a visit to
Paris some years ago. We were walking in some narrow alley in the 1st arrondissement
of Paris, when I noticed a door with a single plaque with Club Privé written on
it. My imagination got going, and at some point, things got pretty wild. I’ve
wanted to write for a long time, but life had plans of its own. I’m grateful to
finally have time to write, and love writing contemporary and erotic romance in
far-flung settings. Taking readers on a journey of their own with my books is
part of the plot. Bon voyage!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Divine Hart, by Heather Shere

Title: Divine Hart
Author: Heather Shere
Genre: New Adult/Second Chance Romance
Release Date: October 19, 2018
Blurb
Being a poor kid in a rich town was tough. When you’re a
skater boy from a dusty trailer park, they see you as nothing more than a
desert rat. Despite this, Preston Hart knew what he wanted…she was his world.
But could he ever be the man she deserved? He didn’t believe he was worthy.
That was his weakness and weaknesses could be exploited. When he was offered
the chance to make something of his life, he knew the cost might be too high.
But faced with losing everything he held dear, he took the helping hand;
however, everything comes at price and Preston paid dearly.
Being a rich girl in a rich town should have been easy. But
when you’re the daughter of an influential businessman who traded your silver
spoon for his belt buckle, money couldn’t buy happiness, it could only buy the
makeup to hide the bruises. Despite this, Skye Divine had found her solace…he
was her world. But he abandoned her when she needed him most and without him,
she faced a choice: run for her life or stay in the desert and die.
She’d made it this far on her own and while her life might
be falling apart, she’d rather be homeless and starving than go back home. But
when her luck finally runs out, she may be left with no option.
Then two worlds unexpectedly collide and this time? The
tables have turned.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3.5 Stars

This is the first story I’ve read by Heather Shere, and it was kind of intense, deals with the subject matter of child abuse, but is definitely an interesting read.

Skye Divine is Preston Hart’s whole world. But when the trailer park kid is backed into a corner with no other options, he makes a deal with the devil in order to secure a better future for himself and Skye, who has grown up in the lap of luxury. Or so he thought. Flash forward 5 years, and Skye is homeless, living on the street, and Preston has spent every day since he returned from Russia looking for his lost love. A chance encounter puts them back in each other’s lives, and now that their roles are reversed and he can take care of Skye the way that he’d always wanted to, Preston can’t believe that he has her back.

Well, it’s really not quite that simple. Because there are a bunch of secrets that these two were keeping from one another, and they have a mess to work through before they get to their HEA. I wished that they would have been completely honest with one another from the start, though. It takes them so long to get to discussing what happened 5 years ago, and I was itching for that conversation to be over so I could see how they adapted to their new reality. But I didn’t feel that happened as fully as I would have liked to have seen. Th

Overall, I really liked these characters, and the pacing of the story flowed nicely. Preston and Skye went through hell and back while they were apart, which made their reunion all the sweeter. The climax to the story is predictable, but where else would you go with a manipulative father like the one they were fighting against? If you are looking for an overcoming obstacles romance and don’t mind the potential triggers that come with the character of Skye, then Divine Hart and its HEA is definitely worth checking out!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Release Blitz: Red’s Wolf, by Mila Crawford & Aria Cole

Rose

I was on my way to an appointment when my car broke down. I found myself stranded in the middle of nowhere.

It was late, dark, and I swore I heard something in the woods.

And then he came along, this towering beast of a man who claimed he wouldn’t let anything hurt me, that he’d protect me at all costs … because I was his.

Sexy. Deadly. All male.

But the one thing on my mind was who would protect me from him?

Logan

Rose thought she was lost but the truth was she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

With me.

She needed my help and I was happy to oblige. But I wasn’t being a good samaritan. She was my mate and I was going to claim her.

The only obstacle I saw was her willingness to see that she was made to be mine, that giving herself fully to me was exactly how fate had written our story.

But I had all the time in the world because when it came to Rose nothing else mattered.

Logan

As soon as I scented her, I knew.
She was mine.
My mate.
I saw her, watched her from the shadows.
Rose.
I remembered her scent from those rare occasions when I ventured into town, the aroma ingrained in every part of my being. But until now, until she’d come of age, I hadn’t known what she was to me.
My mate.
Mine.
She was so beautiful. I heard her cursing, a fire in her that turned me on. It was obvious she was upset, and my wolf loved that, craved her emotions because I’d been lacking mine for so long.
Her red hair moved around her shoulders as the wind picked up. I let my gaze roam her curves, and just like that my cock grew hard, so stiff it fucking ached. I’d never felt this before, never had the desire.
Without a mate, I had no arousal.
Without my female, I had no need for another. I’d saved myself for her, waited until I’d found her. And if she’d never come … then I would have died without ever knowing a woman’s touch.
My mate.
She may not have been Little Red Riding hood, but I was the big, bad fucking wolf about to devour her.
I growled low, too low for her to hear.
She looked so beautiful, pacing back and forth, anger and annoyance rolling off of her in waves. A coyote howled nearby and I watched as she spun around, the scent of her fear strong. She lost her footing, trying to brace herself on the hood of her car, but failing.
She fell before I could get to her.
I tried to keep the wolf in check, but the bastard wanted out now. I never wanted to be the reason she was frightened. I wanted to always be the one to protect her.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Love, Cutter, by Michelle Jester

Love, Cutter
Michelle Jester
Publication date: August 28th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

After an attempted suicide Carter finds himself in a coma. He is able to hear the world around him, yet he can’t move. What he hears propels Carter to begin to see life in a new way, especially when one of his nurses, Kinley, shares parts of her tragic past with him. Soon, Carter realizes he is falling in love with her.

Months after being transferred from the hospital, to a rehabilitation facility, he suddenly wakes up with a passion to live that he never had before and a determination to find the one person he feels may be able to help him put the pieces of his life together again. However, when he returns to the hospital, Kinley is gone and Carter must try to find her based solely on the things she shared with him while he was in a coma.

Only, nothing is as it seems and Carter learns the biggest lesson of them all… the differences between expectation, perception, and reality.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This book wasn’t an easy one to read in the sense that it deals with some heavy topics: Depression, self-harm, suicide, prejudice and self-image. Carter has some major demons that he is fighting, and it all leads him to a suicide attempt. Except that he ends up in a coma where he can hear the conversations of those around him. But it’s not only his family that he’s listening to. Carter begins to fall for the sweet nurse, Kinley, taking care of him. So when he awakens from his coma, he sets out to find her, sure that she is The One.

Carter’s journey in tracking down Kinley is a winding one. He learns alot about himself, and seemingly is a different person. But I felt like the romance between the two was TOLD to me, not SHOWN to me. And all of the family issues are suddenly solved with a happy ending. I wanted to see more struggle and growth amongst Carter’s entire family.

But overall, Love, Cutter was a page-turner with likable characters and relevant social issues that really made me stop and think. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About the Author:

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

New Release: Sunny Shelly Reviews The Wrong Game, by Kandi Steiner

The Wrong Game RB banner.jpeg

He can’t win if he’s playing The Wrong Game

The Wrong Game, an all-new angsty, emotional and fun sports romance from Kandi Steiner, the bestselling author of A Love Letter to Whiskey, is LIVE!

TWG Cover FINAL.png

Two season tickets.

One genius idea.

Zero interest in a relationship.

The plan is simple: a brand new, hot, preferably funny, definitely single male will fill one of those seats for every Bears game at Soldier Field. And I’ll fill the other.

I can’t think of a better way to use the season passes I’d bought for my ex-husband. I am a woman of plans, and this one’s foolproof.

Until Zach Bowen offers to be my practice round.

He’s infuriating. Presumptuous and overbearing. And absolutely, undeniably gorgeous. Any woman with a heartbeat would be attracted to him, and mine picks up speed every time he speaks.

But as I said, I’m a woman of plans — and I’m not backing down on this one.

One night. One game. And then, his time’s up.

He can try to change the rules, but here’s the truth: he can’t win if he’s playing the wrong game.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I’m used to books from Kandi Steiner that are much more angsty. So to read something more light-hearted like The Wrong Game was a delightful change from this author! I love the premise of this story and what brings Gemma and Zach together. They are an adorable couple, and even though he really has his work cut out for him when it comes to breaking down Gemma’s walls, Zach goes into it full-force, determined to show her that he’s different.

This story is fun and flirty, Zach is a perfect book boyfriend. The secondary characters are charming (but not overbearing to the point of stealing the show away from the H/h of the story!). There is a bit of that Kandi Steiner angst mixed in, and is just as emotionally intense as some of her other books, but a much lighter story. I will definitely be coming back to The Wrong Game for a re-read!

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Player, by Staci Hart

I should have known it was only a game.

I should have known he was too good to be true.

He’s nothing but a player…

Player, an all-new sexy, standalone romantic comedy from Staci Hart, is available NOW!

player-wrap

He’s a player.

He plays the bass with expert fingers. He plays women with intoxicating charm. And he’ll play me with the ease of a virtuoso.

Who better to teach me to play than the master himself?

I’m his model student, front row, pencil sharp. Pick up lines? I’ve got them. Free drinks? By the dozen. Kissing? Let me grab my chapstick.

But the most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that there’s so much I don’t know. Like why his touch sets off a chain reaction straight to my nethers. Or how I’m certain each kiss is the best I’ll ever have, until the moment his lips take mine again.

There’s so much I don’t know.

Like the fact that I’m only a bet.

But we are what we are. He’s a player, through and through.

And I’m the fool who fell in love with him.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Remember Rin from Piece Of Work? Her roommate, Val, gets her own story now! I’ve never been disappointed in a Staci Hart book! Player is a perfect title — and not just because Sam is a musician. He’s the king of casual dating, and doesn’t do commitment. But there’s something about Val, a fellow musician, that he can’t walk away from. It all starts with a bet to “date” Val for a month. She’s inexperienced with guys, and he agrees to teach her how to date. But Sam never expected to fall head over heels for his student.

Val is everything I like in a heroine. She’s strong and smart, but she has some insecurities that make her vulnerable and real. Sam comes off a bit cocky at first, but there is a sweet and tender heart underneath the playboy.

This book was absolute perfection. I loved Sam and Val as much as I loved Rin and Court in Piece Of Work. I can’t wait to see what Staci Hart has planned for the rest of the Red Lipstick Coalition girls!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

teaser-players-like-me.jpg

Excerpt:

The night flew by, time speeding up and sliding past with nothing to mark the hours but his laughter and my smiles and our bodies bouncing around the parquet like we had nothing in the world to do but dance. I had no idea how late it was until “New York, New York” came on with the house lights.

Sam hooked me under his arm and guided me out into the chilly fall evening. Like an idiot, I’d come without a jacket, and I tried to play it off like I wasn’t cold. A shiver wracked down my spine, betraying me.

He shrugged off his leather jacket. “Here, wear this.”

“B-but then y-you’ll be cold,” I said, shifting away from him in an effort to stop him. “Look, it’s n-not even cold. It’s f-fake cold. It’s only what—like, sixty out? M-my body is j-just being drunk and d-dumb.”

“Val.” The word was a gentle warning. He held out his jacket like a matador. “Put it on.”

“N-no,” I said with a laugh.

He shook it once like he was taunting me. “Toro.”

I giggled, stumbling a little as I brought my hands to the top of my head, pointer fingers to the stars. “Olé!” I cheered as I charged. But instead of running through his jacket, I found myself in his arms.

I didn’t know how it happened. The jacket was there, and then it was gone. But instead of being laid out on the sidewalk like I should have been, Sam’s arms were hooked around my waist, our bodies winding together and twisting from the force of his catch. And then I looked up, and time stretched out in a long, still moment. His eyes on my mouth. Mine on his. His nose millimeters from mine and his mouth so close, if I turned my head just right, our lips would brush. The warmth of him was everywhere.

I wasn’t cold anymore. I was on fire.

So I said the first thing that entered my empty mind.

“Are you going to kiss me, or am I gonna have to lie to my diary?”

The moment broke with our laughter, filled the air around us, stopped my chugging heart. He pressed his lips to my forehead.

I sighed. “I guess that’ll do.”

He hooked his jacket over my shoulders, taking a moment to look over my face, watching his fingers as he tucked a loose curl behind my ear. “Come on. Let’s get you home. You did good tonight, Val.”

“Thanks to your expert advice.”

But he smiled. “Pretty soon, you’ll figure out you didn’t need me at all.”

And I smiled back and pretended like it was possible that statement held an iota of truth.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Blurb
She was too young. He was too famous.

Shaelyn Monroe was only seventeen when she met larger-than-life action star, Garrett Riordan.

He thought she was a breath of fresh air.
She thought he was out of her league.

Their attraction was something neither could ignore.
They shouldn’t have worked…
But somehow, they did.

Everything was perfect.
Until it wasn’t.

Could their love survive what happened on the way down- or had it always been too good to be true?

About the Author
USA Today Bestselling Author Ella Fox has learned a bunch of stuff along the way but the most important of all those things is that anything is possible when you try. In 2012 she took a big leap of faith and published her first book, Broken Hart. Since then she’s written fifteen more full-length books and several novellas– and every one is a reminder that you can live your dream as long as you work for it.

Ella’s favorite things are music, movies, traveling, The Foo Fighters and, of course, reading. This isn’t a surprise considering the fact that her mom is USA Today Bestselling Author Suzanne Halliday.
