Sunny Shelly’s Review: Seven Shades Of You, by A.M. Johnson

Release Date: June 13, 2019

Cover Design: Amanda Bockman

Synopsis

Her world was color. Canvas and paint. Indie O’Connell lived inside her head. Her voices the muse. And as a freshman at St. Peter’s College, all she wanted, was to create a name for herself with the brush in her hand.

His world was over. Despite his humble upbringing, Kai Carter seemed to have it all. Captain of the swim team and a full scholarship. His golden boy status a mask he had to wear to keep his dream and his family afloat. All the pieces of his life dangled precariously from his fingertips.

Forced to fight a battle he’d never signed up for, Kai’s loyalty turned out to be his undoing, and like a good captain, no matter what the cost, he’d gone down with the ship.

They never planned for their worlds to collide.
He was her brother’s best friend.
She was supposed to be invisible.

Off limits.

Being together, regardless of how much they wanted it, was a line they’d never cross. But when lives get messy, lines get blurred, and in love, nothing is ever black and white.

Chapter Reveal: Making Up, by Helena Hunting

Making Up, an all-new laugh-out-loud romantic comedy standalone from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is coming July 16th and we have a sneak peek!

Making Up_ebook.jpg

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Excerpt from Chapter One

Sexy Suit

Cosy

Working in an adult toy store is the opposite of glamorous. Sure, I get a fifty-percent discount, which is a real perk, but it doesn’t offset some of the weirdness I have to deal with. Such as Eugene, one of the locals who frequents the shop on a regular basis. He came in this morning and handled all the display toys. He’s mostly harmless, but the silicone fondling is pretty high on the creepy factor. Eventually I told him I had to close up for a few minutes so I could grab lunch. The deli across the street has the best daily specials.

While I wait for my chicken shawarma, I make a mental list of all the things I need to do this afternoon: check the magazines to make sure the pages aren’t stuck together, restock the flavored lube, and wipe down everything Eugene molested with toy cleaner. Once I’ve tackled those less-than-fun chores, I can work on my assignment for my hospitality class, provided I don’t have real customers.

I glance out the window, checking to make sure Eugene isn’t loitering around in front of the store, waiting to be let back in. Sometimes he’ll stop by more than once during my shift. He’s not there—thank God—but there’s a black sports car parked in the lot. It looks nice and possibly expensive, which might mean an actual customer who will spend money.

Loki, the cashier at the deli, hands me my drinks and shawarma.

“Thanks! Have a great day!”

“You too,” Loki says to my chest.

As I leave the store, I see a man in a suit reading the sign I taped to the door. I don’t want to miss a potential customer, so I take a deep breath and mentally shift gears, putting on my best sales-person mask. I have to pretend to be a completely different person when I deal with customers, so I can get through what would otherwise be a fairly embarrassing event. Discussing the ins and outs of sex toys with strangers is not something I particularly enjoy, but it’s a paycheck, so I’ve learned to roll with it.

My root beer foams and drips down the straw while my coffee sloshes onto my hand—the lids never fit right—and my chicken shawarma dangles perilously between my pinkie and ring finger as I cross the street.

The suit doesn’t look creepy like Eugene, but then, suits can be deceiving. Half the time they think they can proposition me like a sex worker. Or they pretend the weird stuff they’re buying is a gift and not for them. Pfft. I know better.

Suit turns and heads for his car, so I call out, “Hey! You in the suit, hold on!”

His shoulders hunch, as if he’s trying to be smaller, which is physically impossible. Based on the size of him, he probably played college football. Or he has Marvel comic hero blood relatives. Either way, he’s a big dude.

He stops walking, though, which is good. I could use some sales today. The commission boost is always a plus to the shitty minimum wage. Rent is due next week, and judging by his car, he has money to burn.

My heels are skyscrapers, and everything I’m wearing is either too short or too tight to facilitate running—the Sex Toy Warehouse uniform is supposed to be sexy, aka revealing—so I awkwardly jog the rest of the way while trying to get the key to the shop out of my pocket and not drop my shawarma. The manager gave me my own set since I frequently open the store.

“Sorry to keep you waiting; plastic dicks don’t quite cut it for lunch.” Inwardly I cringe, because seriously, why did I say that?

“I would imagine they’re not all that satisfying,” he replies in a deep voice that would probably sound good whispering naughty things in my ear.

I’m not sure if he meant that suggestively or not. Regardless, I walked right into that one.

I finally look up. Dear sweet Jesus on a cloud of marshmallows, this is my lucky day. The suit is gorgeous. Like the kind of hotness that sucks the breath right out of your lungs and sends all the blood in your body rushing between your legs. It’s a good thing clits don’t react like penises, otherwise mine would be hanging out of the bottom of my shorts with excitement. I’m thankful my physical reaction is limited to damp underwear and tingles.

His dark hair is straight and cut short, parted at the side and neatly styled. He’s a cross between a mobster, and a fifties movie star. Capone and Ward Cleaver rolled together and dipped in lust. His nose is straight, lips are full, and he’s got a chin that looks like it could cut glass. His features are strong, but he somehow manages to be boyish even though everything about him screams pure, undiluted masculinity.

His tongue drags across his pillowy bottom lip and his throat bobs. I lift my gaze and meet his eyes. They’re a strange color. Not brown, not green, but some kind of honey-lemon color, ringed in emerald. Like a cat maybe.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Marriage Effect, by Karla Sorensen

Title: The Marriage Effect
Author: Karla Sorensen
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: June 12, 2019
Logan Ward doesn’t want any more women in his life.
Being a football player and legal guardian to his four younger sisters means his playbook is full. However, one of them just landed in the hospital, which gives his brother the shot he needs to challenge Logan for custody.

Legal counsel says there’s only one thing Logan can do—find himself a wife.
Paige McKinney doesn’t always think things through.

Like walking away from her modeling career without a thought of what might come next. She really doesn’t think it through when she proclaims herself Logan’s fiancé at the hospital, simply because the sexy—albeit grumpy—football player forgot his cell phone at a party and security won’t let her pass. It’s not her fault it was overheard by the worst possible person.
A bargain is struck, and a fake marriage is the perfect solution. But the simple solution creates a whole new problem: they’re not as different as they seem. The reluctant groom has fire inside him, and his impetuous bride is about to light the match.

“… this story is a tasty recipe for sweet sports romance, that you won’t regret breaking your diet for!!” – Mells_View

“There is just something so completely consuming about the way this author can write a story.” – BooksandBandanas

“1000 Stars for Karla Sorensen newest book The Marriage Effect. Karla has written one masterpiece y’all are going to flip for!!” – Andrea Britton

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I really liked the other two Washington Wolves books (Bombshell Effect and Ex Effect), so I was excited to see Allie’s bestie, Paige, get her own story. But what I read was so much more than the typical fake marriage story.

Paige needs a husband to claim an inheritance. Read one of those books before. But Logan needing a wife so he doesn’t lost custody of his four teenage half-sisters… great addition to this trope! The relationship between Logan and Paige is a fantastic slow burn, full of passion and fire. But then there is the extra layer of all the girls, and how Paige develops her own relationships with them is just as much a part of this love story. It’s done so well, and I didn’t at all feel like it was being forced from any of them.

The girls are a hoot. Especially those twins. I saw that they will be part of a new spin-off series, and I can’t wait to read that!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Well, let’s see … I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone’s face, then I’ve done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.

28 Dates, a captivating all-new friends-to-lovers romance by Stacey Lynn is now live!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

These books make me smile! 28 Dates is another standalone in the Crazy Love series from Stacey Lynn — but if you read Fake Wife, we get some catching up with Teagen and Corbin. Yay!

So the prologue starts with Jonas, after two years of being FWB with Caitlin, asking her to let him take her out on an actual date. Caitlin is carrying around some major relationship baggage thanks to her parents (pretty much thinking she’s unlovable) and isn’t interested in dating. Even though she soon realizes she’s made a huge mistake.

Six months later, Caitlin agrees to test out a new dating app that her boss/friend Trey created, hoping that she’ll get over Jonas. Meanwhile, Jonas has been dating someone else, but hasn’t gotten over Caitlin. I was so glad that he broke things off with Ashley before signing up for the app himself. Otherwise, he would have been a major d-bag and this book would have gone right down the drain. What follows is Jonas and Caitlin trying to rebuild their fractured friendship while Jonas — as Michael — is chatting with Caitlin through the app. There are clever ways that he avoids letting her know who he really is, like when “Michael” stands her up and Jonas hangs out with her at his restaurant/bar.

There’s nice growth with Caitlin as she puts on her big girl panties and realizes what a great guy Jonas is, and that she misses his friendship and company just as much as being in his bed. But will she be too late?

Overall, 28 Dates is a feel-good best friends romance. Little angst, little drama. My only complaint is that the girl on the cover is not a redhead like Caitlin. (The last Crazy Love cover did not feature a tattoo Jesus like Braxton, which bugged me while I was reading it.) And I didn’t really get the connection to the title — It doesn’t seem like Caitlin goes on 28 dates, either with Jonas or anyone else.

I’m still trying to figure out if Braxton and Cara from Knocked Up have any connection to these other characters, and I hope that Trey gets a book of his own! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

28 Dates - Teaser 4 AN.jpg

Excerpt:

She nods against my chest and mumbles something I can’t
understand since her face is smashed to my coat. I lean back,
brushing hair off her face.
“What was that?”
Her lips pull to one side, and then she nibbles on her bottom lip. “I
asked if you wanted to come in.”
Fucking hell. She’s killing me. My hands are at the sides of her
face. “You’re drunk.”
“I’m not that drunk.”
If I wanted to be any other guy for her, hell, even how we used to
be, the answer would be so easy. My dick already thinks the
answer is obvious. I’m hard as a rock just from hugging her and
getting to hold her for the first time in so long.
“I can’t, Caitlin.”
She blinks and looks away, frowning. “I figured. Of course you
don’t.”
“Hey.” I pull her back and bend down so I’m close to her. So damn
close I could easily press my lips against her, slide my tongue into
her mouth, feel her small but strong fingers dig into my hips.
Visions and ideas of what I want to do to her body flash in my
mind so quickly I groan. “I can’t go inside with you, honey. I don’t
want to go back to what we used to have. You mean too much to
me.”
She closes her eyes, and when she opens them again, any hope or
emotion is gone. “I understand.”
She doesn’t. Caitlin can’t have any clue of what she means to me
or what I want from her, and the time for this conversation is not
when she can barely stand. But soon, very soon, because there’s no

way I can continue this charade for much longer—especially if it
means seeing her prance into Dirty’s with more guys.
Before I know it, she’s on her tiptoes, and her lips brush against
mine. I inhale the sweet scent of her perfume, and it’s impossible
to deny her.
My hands yank her to me and I step backward, pulling her into her
apartment. The door slams closed behind us, and her back is
against it. She’s already rolling her hips, and I’m swallowing her
groans as she takes mine, accepting my tongue that I slide against
her lips.
And fucking hell in a handbasket. She’s fire and ice and even
drunk she’s still the best damn kisser. It’s the kind of kiss that boils
my blood and shoots desire straight down my spine.
I pull back, breathless. “We can’t,” I say, although I’m gasping and
my hips have her pinned to the door. “I can’t do this with you,
Caitlin. Not like this.”
With secrets and uncertainties.
I press my head against her forehead even as her hands slide to my
waist. “I miss it,” she says, and it’s so sweet, so sad and faint, I
want to fall to my knees and explain everything, carry her to bed,
and make it all better.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: This Is Crazy, by Natasha Madison

From the best selling series, Something So comes the spin-off This
is…

Zara Stone

All my life, I’ve said I will never date a hockey player. I know
better because I’ve seen and lived it all. My father is a hockey god, my
brother is the captain of the most successful NHL team in the world, and my
brother-in-law also plays in the league. Their lives are complicated, so I went
in the opposite direction.

I fell in love with a scholar. But instead of proposing marriage,
he broke up with me.

Three months later, I saw his engagement picture on Instagram. I
couldn’t let him get away with that. No, it didn’t matter what, I was going to
make that man see that I did not need him.
Evan Richards

I was in the running to pass my point record from last year, ready
to claim the number one spot in the league. On top of my game, I was riding my
career high wave.

Then, Hockey’s Princess, Zara Stone tweeted me. She wanted me to
crash her ex’s wedding.

The worst that could happen? A PR nightmare. The best? A fun night
with a beautiful woman.

It started out as a game—something I’m good at. Her crazy idea
twisted into something I wasn’t looking for, something neither of us wanted.
When push comes to shove, one thing runs through my mind:

This is Crazy. Also, this is crazy right.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

In the modern age of Instagram and Twitter, of course there are romances where the heroine slides into the hero’s DM. When Zara’s ex gets engaged, she messages hockey star Evan to be her faux date… and of course, one thing leads to another and friends with benefits becomes a crazy love affair.

These characters had great chemistry. Zara is feisty and spunky, and Evan is a hot alpha. There are some nice moments between them, even if there is the dreaded she’s-never-O’d-before. It just didn’t work for me. I think I would have liked them a lot more without that plot point. But it is what it is.

This Is Crazy is the first book in a new series by Natasha Madison, and a spin-off of her Something So series. There is crossover from the characters, and they are in quite a bit of the background of the story. I’ve only read one of the Something books, so I was a little lost about the relationships and connections, but Zara and Evan stood well enough on their own. But if you’ve loved the Something So series, then you will love the catch-up with that gang.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers
flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals.
You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or
possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her
characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Hide Your Crazy, by Lani Lynn Vale

I’m
kind of a lady, but definitely more of a weirdo.
Hearing
the woman at the table behind him say that to her friend should’ve turned Logan
Gibbs off.
It
doesn’t. In all honesty, it only makes him listen harder.
He’s
had enough weird in his life to last a lifetime. The last thing his complicated
life needs is a woman in it who has no clue what color you get when you mix
yellow and blue together.
Yet,
her obvious blonde moments aren’t enough to deter him. Nor is her lack of
finger-painting skills.
I’m
a cop, not a miracle worker.
Hearing
the man in the group behind her say that should’ve had Katy Roberts running
away as fast as her feet would carry her. Katy’s father’s a cop, and it’s hard enough
to live her life with Daddy trying to dictate her every move. She needs another
cop in her life like she needs yet another thing to go wrong.
To
add onto that, she can’t find a job, has no love life to speak of, and has to
be the oldest known virgin in Kilgore, Texas.
Yet,
when she sees his painting—a painting that resembles a piece of the male
anatomy more than the lighthouse they were supposed to be painting—she knows
that she has to give him a chance.
The
very last thing the two of them expect is for her father and his boss to force
them to marry after an eensy-weensy accident. An accident that, surprisingly,
both of them want.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3.5 Stars

Ugh, I have mixed feelings about Hide Your Crazy. Logan and Katy have a funny meet-cute at a painting party, and then two more awkward encounters afterwards, when he gives her a ticket and then they realize they are neighbors. I thought they had a nice chemistry between them, but this instalove story just felt meh for me.

The stuff with Katy’s family was the most entertaining. Her dad, the police chief, doesn’t exactly like Logan, but her mom adores him. (sidenote: Katy’s dad and mom were the H/h in another LVL book, apparently. So this is a spin-off of another series.) I loved the relationship that Katy and Logan had with their dogs, and how Sister and Lou brings them together. But why didn’t we get more from his relationship with his brother in town? That was a throwaway scene that didn’t go anywhere. The whole mess with Logan’s ex-wife left me shaking my head. It felt clunky as I was reading the story. The name of the baby changed from Gibby, and then Gabby, and it was throwing me off.

Ultimately, there were quite a few issues here for me. And that kept me from falling in love with Logan and Katy. But, LVL is a prolific author with quite a following, so maybe her writing style just doesn’t do it for me.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I’ve loved this series! Alex is the youngest Larsson brother and Maya is his childhood best friend. She’s always had a crush on his older brothers (who were best friends with her older brothers) but loved Alex differently. They were inseparable. But maybe she loved him differently because he was her soulmate.

Years after Maya moved away following her father’s embezzlement scandal, Maya moves back to Los Angeles after law school, and looks up Alex. There is an instant connection between them, but Maya is afraid to think of him as more than a friend.

I love how Alex is just there for her every day. It’s the little things that make him absolutely endearing. It’s a slow burn before they cross the line to more, but it’s a wonderful ride. I really felt like I got to know them as friends and was totally invested in them as a couple.

The Conflict that splits them up is great. It pulls in Alex’s older brother, Roman (from Rival), and really plays on both Maya’s vulnerability to protect Alex from her father’s misdeeds and Alex’s feelings of never being enough and living in the shadows of his older brothers.

This was just an all-around fantastic best friend’s romance! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I leave the guys with the liquor cabinet in the den which in retrospect is probably not a great idea, but I do have my daughter, which is the smart play, to follow my nose to the kitchen. I find my beautiful and sexy wife fussing over a series of three propane stoves, each with something going.

“What you working on? Need any help?” I ask from afar.

“I’ve got a little of everything.” She laughs. “We’re having Thai sweet chili chicken, some Thai stir-fried noodles and veggies. Is that okay with you?” Savi asks not really looking at me but watching what she’s doing. She doesn’t usually cook on the stove top and using these is definitely outside her wheelhouse. I think the open flames make her nervous.
“Sounds really good. Again, anything I can help with? Want me to set the table or something? Or should they just grab bowls and you’ll dish it out like at the mess?” I chuckle. “I could probably get you a durag from Beauty Queen and we could turn you into an honorary lunch lady.”
“You looking to sleep with Saylor tonight? What do you want Oz?”
“I’m not opposed to a night with Miss Cuddles-a-lot. But you’re right. I do want to talk to you.” I put Saylor down in one of the dozen or so swings strategically positioned around the house so that we can have privacy at a moment’s notice and she’s still in our line of sight. “So, you sorta know Mike, and you kinda know his wife, Maylynn right?”
“Quit hem-hawing and spit it out SEAL.” Savi looks at me over her shoulder with a brow raise.
“He’s convinced she’s been screwing around and the baby she’s having ain’t his. So he’s looking for a place to crash for a couple of days. Just till he can find a place to put his footlocker for good.” Savi has a look on her face that says she knows more than she lets on. “You know something, don’t you?” I touch her waist with a gentle squeeze.
“It wasn’t my place to say anything and still isn’t. If he needs a place to stay we’ll move back upstairs and give him the room I had done up for dad when he was here.”
“He’s good at taking orders, will make good use of himself. With all the damage here it’ll be good having the extra hands too.”
“Are the others staying too? I don’t care, I just need to know so I can figure out where to put everyone. After I eat I’m going to see what was salvageable from the nursery.”
“Yeah…I did that. The crib was totaled, for lack of a better term. The rest of the furniture was okay, except the mirror over the changing table got smashed, so that has to be replaced. I have to rent a shampooer for the rug, I don’t think ours will do the job, best to go with an industrial one, least if it breaks I won’t have to replace it. I’m pretty sure Little foot and Beauty Queen got people of their own… Somewhere.”
“Says who?” Little foot’s voice wraps around the room.
“Yeah? Says who?” There’s Beauty Queen. “If all the food around here tastes as good as it smells, set me up a cot in the chicken coop.”
“Do I really need to warn you to stay away from my chickens again?” She looks sternly at Beauty Queen.
“I was talking about bunkin’, not pluckin’.” He jerks his head back and forth like he’s Vogueing or some shit.
“So three-four of you. This is going to be um- different.” Savi looks around. “Where’s the other one?”
“Mike? Oh, he’s having himself an argument with Maylynn, we thought it best to give him some room to yell.” Hiro finishes barely audible. “She was going off in Mandarin.”
“Does he really want to get rid of her? I mean I can help, ain’t like she likes me anyhow.”
“Maikaʻi, let’s just be what he needs. Stable friends. Stable friends with good Scotch.” I hug her against me, thankful their problems are not mine, and that my problems are not theirs.
“Fucking thundercunt!”
“And there’s Mike,” I say, trying to laugh it off.
“Trying to keep my son away from me. We’ll fucking see about that, shit. See what my fucking lawyer says in the fucking morning.” Mike hasn’t even appeared, and we can already hear him down the hall.
“Hey, Mike, why don’t ya tell me how you really feel?” Savi shouts back.
“All WOMEN ARE FUCKING LYING WHORES!”
“Well! Maybe you should just join my team! Sailor!” Beauty Queen Quips, stealing a piece of chicken from the bowl as he walks by me and the Missus with a wink.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Call Sign: Baby Daddy is the first book I’ve read by J. Haney, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But it was fun and cute!

Navy SEAL Oz basically got a one-night stand pregnant and married Savi to do the right thing. But he was still in active duty, so they barely knew each other. Now, his military career has ended thanks to an accident, and he’s home with his wife and daughter. A battlefield of a different kind, and one that Oz is not prepared for.

This is a nice story as they get to know one another more and adjust to parenting and being married. There are some ups and downs, but Savi is a feisty thing, and she is opinionated. Oz doesn’t know what hits him at times! It’s easy to read with likable characters.

Blurb:
Look, she started it.

She issued me a challenge I couldn’t back down from. Make her purr like no man has done before.

Fine, she’s my business partner’s daughter. All right, I’m also working in the same damn practice with her. Yes, she happens to be my ex-fling. But that was seven years ago, and it was barely a week-long thing.

Except, Sloane is still the one I can’t stop thinking of — brilliant, sexy, captivating Sloane. Maybe a week of taking her to new heights will get her out of my head.

So what if we spend a few nights on the town too? So what if I romance her across Manhattan? It’s all in the name of scientific pursuit of more magnificent Os.

Until the rules change…

Excerpt
I meet Sloane’s gaze then go for it. Because this night has only one destination. “We should go to Tahiti.”

“Tonight?”

“Too long a flight?”

She lets go of my hand and holds up her thumb and forefinger. “Maybe a little. Not that I’m turning down a trip to Tahiti. Wait? Are you saying you want to take me to Tahiti? Because I can pack like that.”

Smiling, I slide my hand to her ass, squeezing. I whisper roughly in her ear, “I’m saying I’d like to escape with you. Like we’re getting away for the night. Let’s fuck away all this hot, wild desire.”

She exhales then goes quiet, perhaps lost in thought. “But I thought we were going to resist kissing.”

I brush the backs of my fingers along her jaw. “We already failed that test.”

She pouts. “I was supposed to be an un-vixen.”

“Didn’t work. You’re the opposite, and I want you so fucking much.” I press against her. “You have me so wound up. I’m pretty sure you’re wound up too.”

She pushes back. “You know I am. You know I want you too. That was never the issue.”

I have to get closer to her. I need to have her. “Let’s give in. Just once.” I slide my fingers into her hair, she leans her head against my palm, and I continue making my case. “I can take you places. I can make you feel extraordinary, like I’ve always wanted to.”

She hums. “You’re making it hard to say no.”

“True. I’m very hard to resist.”

A smile spreads across her face. “You are, Malone. You’re terribly, impossibly hard to resist.” She nibbles on her bottom lip. “One night. Our secret. What happens in Tahiti stays in Tahiti.”

“Absolutely,” I say as my dick high-fives me.

“And where is this alternate universe?”

I curl my fingers around her hip bone. “My place isn’t far. There’s also a hotel down the block. Either way, I intend to strip you naked, get my lips all over you, and make you feel as fucking good as you looked when you were watching me sing.”

She shudders. “I looked good when I was watching you? How so?”

I run my thumb over her hip, rubbing in slow, sensual circles. “You’re so seductive. You looked so incredibly alluring. You looked exactly as you are—the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.” My fingers stray to her belly, gliding down the fabric of her dress toward my final destination. “And you and I have unfinished business.”

She leans her head back, and the most delicious moan ever recorded escapes her lips. When she raises her face, she tap-dances her fingers down my chest then runs them over the silk of my tie. “Are you saying we’re going to finish the business tonight?”

“Yes, and then tomorrow . . . we can be friends again.” The thought pains me, but I know this is the only way to deal with our reality.

“Exactly,” she says, nodding her agreement. “We take a trip tonight. We get away to a remote island. And tomorrow we go back to the real world?” She’s seriously considering this. Hell, I’ve already considered it six ways to Sunday in the span of ten seconds, and I say it’s a brilliant plan.

“Let me take care of you tonight. Let me spend the night worshipping your body and driving you wild with pleasure.”

“You say these things . . .”

I grin. “And?”

“And you make it impossible to walk away.” She grabs my tie and tugs my face inches from hers. “But what do you think my voice says?”

I want her to say it. The permission must come from her, and I’m dying for it. “You tell me.”

She brings her mouth to my ear and whispers, hot and sexy, “It says take me to Tahiti. Fuck me hard. Fuck me good. Fuck me senseless.”

That’s the only voice I’m listening to tonight.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

What a super-fun second chance romance! Another Lauren Blakely fantastic romcom!

For sexy vet Monroe, Sloan is the one who got away. Or, the one he had to let go. After a whirlwind weeklong romance, Monroe learned that Sloane was the daughter of his new boss, and broke things off after getting a don’t-date-my-daughter vibe.

It’s now several years later, and Sloane comes to work at the vet practice, running her rescue service. The connection is as intense as ever, and they both find it hard to keep their distance from the other. They agree to one night — in “Tahiti” — but it’s not enough for either of them.

There’s a nice push and pull as they both try to deny their feelings since they work together and think her dad won’t approve. But these two are perfect for one another, right down to their rhyming names.

Satisfaction Guaranteed is a start to a new series that is a spin-off from LB’s Big Rock series. Monroe is the cousin of Nick from Big O and Charlotte and Spencer make an appearance. But this story is a true standalone, so you do not need to know what happened in the Big Rock books. And the epilogue teases the next book to come, a best friend’s sister book between Malone’s bud, Jason, and sister Truely.

Book Blurb:

They call him the second coming.
Of honor for British football.
Of God in an athlete’s body.
Of every English woman’s fantasy.

Jude Davies is my country’s prodigy on the pitch. More famous than the nobility in Buckingham Palace, he and his merry band of scoundrels rule the Rogue Football Academy and the London nightlife scene alike.

And now, he’s aiming his well-honed set of skills directly at me. His devilish charm is lethal, but with the tragic hand life has dealt me, distractions like him aren’t an option.

Plus, we’re only playing a game. One of convenience, where he needs me to save his reputation, and I need his money to save the one person I love.

Until he wraps me around that immoral finger.
Until I crave that reckless, wild high he provides.
Until I hope for a future that will never happen.

That’s the thing about going toe-to-toe with the next football legend. He’s faster, stronger, and will destroy me every time.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The Second Coming is a super-cute YA sports romance, kicking off a new series from Carrie Aarons.

Jude is the next David Beckham, the popular football star. Aria is the nobody who catches his eye on the campus of Rogue Academy, and she could care less that Jude is Mr. Popular. What starts out as the thrill of the chase turns into a hot, sexy, swoony romance between the two. With every challenge Aria sets up for Jude, he steps up to the plate. He could point at any girl and have them fawning all over him, but he’s genuinely interested in getting to know Aria better. But can she trust that she’s not just another notch in his bedpost?

This is a great opposites-attract story with likable characters. Jude really grows from the playboy to the dedicated boyfriend over the course of the book, and poor Aria has so much baggage, I loved that she found a guy to help her carry the load.
