Extra Innings is a standalone follow-up to Rounding Third. I did read Rounding Third first, so I knew the details of Braxton’s friendship with Crosby and Ella, and the accident from their senior year of high school that is still affecting all of them two years later. However, I didn’t feel it was necessary to have read Rounding Third first, as Michelle Lynn spells out enough of what happened in Extra Innings that it all makes sense.

This was a cute second-chance romance between college baseball star Braxton and premed student Ainsley. They agree to a summer fling, but just as Brax begins to think he’d like more from Ainsley, she breaks it off and completely disappears. Why? Well, she’s been burned by another baller, and doesn’t want to let open up her heart to Brax. But when they encounter each other several months later, Brax is determined to prove to Ainsley that he’s not like the guy she encountered in the past.

I just wish that the reader would have been able to see more of their previous relationship. There’s a 7-month time jump between their first drunken encounter, and then post-breakup where they meet again. I loved the story. I loved how sweet Brax is when he lets his true self show to Ainsley. But I would have been just slightly more invested in them as a couple with even just a few chapters of their initial dating, rather than being TOLD about it after the fact.

But overall? This is a great sports romance with an awesome HEA for Brax and Ainsley and I can’t wait to see which character has his story told next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This is the second book I’ve read by Cory Cyr, and I absolutely adored it. Her characters are rich and vibrant, and the story hooked me from the first page. The relationship between older woman Jensyn and younger man Lincoln was so beautifully crafted, even if it did start out with Jensyn selectively omitting the truth about who she is and what she looks like.

Jensyn was a top model before a car accident changed her life and she was horribly disfigured. Growing up in a world where appearance is EVERYTHING, Jensyn retreated to the quiet of compound in Hawaii, where she mostly lives as a recluse. Then, her therapist asks her to do a personal favor and assist his younger brother, a successful, adrenaline-junky writer who was recently blinded in an accident and needs help working on his latest manuscript since no one knows of Linc’s blindness.

He is a man who can’t see, she is a woman who doesn’t want to be seen. But they see something so special in one another, their age difference and disabilities don’t matter. The banter between the characters is witty when it needs to be, and tender when it needs to be.

Max is so sweet and thoughtful, and mature beyond his 25 years. While Monica is only 32, she’s lived a rough few years and is soooo buttoned-up both professionally and personally. (That scene with here dad? It’s no wonder!)

Max wants “everything” with Monica, but when they come to a make-it-or-break-it point in their relationship, will her love for Max be enough, or will she sacrifice an awesome guy for the sake of her career?

Holy crap, Co-wrecker is HYSTERICAL!!! I have a crush on hot nerd Andrew! Meghan Quinn does an EXCELLENT job in making Andrew’s charisma jump off the page! I had zero problem imagining a hot nerd with Clark Kent glasses and arm porn forearms making me a Reece’s Pieces Sundae!

The banter between Andrew and Sadie was awesome — she’s so closed-off, a real sourpuss, as cold as the ice cream they both serve up at Friendly’s, and that just makes him so determined to break down her walls. Their exchanges as he tries to do so are laugh-out-loud funny. I love how Andrew just sets out to be Sadie’s friend; the romance that eventually blossoms between them catches both of them off-guard. But Sadie wants to keep their relationship a secret, and for a magnitude of reasons, only gives Andrew bits and pieces of her true self. Before long, Andrew realizes that he wants more than bits and pieces of this amazing girl, and his co-worker becomes a co-wrecker when their relationship hits the skids and they split. Will Sadie realize what a gem of a guy Andrew really is before it’s too late?

Co-Wrecker is not only a hilarious — I mean, HILARIOUS — story, it’s sweet, endearing, sexy and a bit sad all at the same time. I liked the supporting characters just as much as the main couple, too. While Sadie and Andrew are both richly-developed characters and the book is told in alternating POVs, I can’t help but feel like the story is more his than hers. Maybe that’s just because he’s so adorkable!

I don’t know that I’ll ever look at the fountain at a Friendly’s restaurant the same way again! And that is a very sexy way to eat ice cream!
