1. Staring at how nicely Evan Walker fills out his Wranglers.

2. Sneaking around after dark, hoping we donโ€™t get caught.

3. Fantasizing about a life with a man who isnโ€™t supposed to exist.

Heโ€™s a criminal, a dangerous man with connections to the Chicago mafia.

We canโ€™t afford to give into temptation. Iโ€™m only here on this Montana ranch until I can safely return to my jobโ€“and the promotion Iโ€™ve worked so hard for. And heโ€™s only here to keep his little sister safe.

But as weโ€™re forced to work together, I find that Evan is much more than I ever expected. Heโ€™s strong, hard-working.

Did I mention the Wranglers?

Weโ€™re drawn to each other in ways that are completely hopeless. I know I shouldnโ€™t give in to his hot, smoldering looks or the way his lingering touch lights me up. Itโ€™s reckless.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The Badge and the Bad Boy kicks off a great new series by Lena Hendrix. It has the same small-town feel that her Chikalu Falls series has, but a little more steam and an element of danger.

Val and Evan’s story hooked me from the prologue. Their paths crossed in a way that they probably never should have. Months later, they are both working at a Montana cattle ranch that is a cover for the witness protection program. But Val is there biding her time until her promotion goes through and Evan is there trying to build a new life after escaping from the Chicago mafia.

I loved the slow burn between Evan and Val. There is no way for a police officer and a former mobster to actually work, but these two are so good together. Evan has lived a hard life, and he doesn’t feel like he’s deserving of love. But Val brings a light to his life that he never imagined he’d be exposed to, and he becomes a better man because of it. But when the time comes for Val to return to her real life, is there any way that these two can make it work or will they have to part ways for good?

LH set up a great future for this series. I’m very intrigued to find out what Parker’s deal is, and if there is something that Gemma and Scotty are hiding!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Taste, by Melanie Harlow

TASTE, an all-new sexy, stranded enemies-to lovers rom com from USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author Melanie Harlow is live now!

The last person on earth I want to be stranded with is Gianni Lupo.

But thanks to the blizzard of the century, Iโ€™m trapped in a roadside motel room with that cocky bastard for two straight days.

With one small bed.

Some women might thank Mother Nature for delivering a polar vortex that maroons them with six feet of solid muscle, those deep blue eyes, that sexy grin–but not me. Iโ€™ve known Gianni Lupo all my life, and heโ€™s never brought me anything but bad luck and trouble.

So when the tension between us explodes with enough fiery heat to melt my icy defenses, I should have known what the disastrous end result would be–

A big fat plus sign.

After the snow melts, Iโ€™m left with more than just memories of the night we spent keeping each other warm. And he might be a rising star on the culinary scene, but heโ€™s got no idea how to handle this bun in the oven.

He says he wants to do the right thing, but Iโ€™m not about to spend the rest of my life feeling like someone settled for me.

But just when I think Iโ€™ve got Gianni Lupo all figured out, he gives me a taste of the man he could be, of the family we could become, of the way he could love me if I let him.

Iโ€™m terrified of falling for him.

But one taste might be all it takes.

Excerpt

I sat at the foot of the bed and dialed Winnieโ€™s number. She picked up immediately.
โ€œEllie?โ€
โ€œHey.โ€
โ€œThank God! You guys okay?โ€
โ€œWeโ€™re fine.โ€ I watched Gianni unwrap a candy bar and lean back against the headboard. โ€œWe found a motel with a vacancy.โ€
โ€œYou mean youโ€™re staying in a motel room together?โ€ she asked, loud enough for Gianni to overhear.
โ€œYeah. And thereโ€™s only one bed.โ€
She laughed. โ€œHowโ€™s that going?โ€
โ€œFine.โ€
โ€œYou guys are getting along?โ€
Gianni made a lewd gesture involving his fist, his tongue, and his inner cheek. I gave him the finger. โ€œAs well youโ€™d expect.โ€
โ€œI canโ€™t wait to hear about it.โ€
โ€œWeโ€™re going to try to get out of here as soon as we can in the morning. Iโ€™ll let you know when weโ€™re on the road.โ€
โ€œSounds good.โ€ She laughed again. โ€œSleep tight.โ€
โ€œOh. We will.โ€ I eyed the length of the bed. โ€œWe have no choice.โ€
After ending the call, I opened the Truth or Drink app on my phone and picked up my wine. โ€œReady to play?โ€
โ€œHit me.โ€
I scrolled through the options. โ€œDo you want to play normal mode, party mode, or dirty mode?
Gianni looked at me like I was crazy. โ€œDuh.โ€
I sighed and reached for my wine. โ€œOkay, fine. I feel like Iโ€™m going to regret this, but dirty it is.โ€
โ€œCan I take my pants off?โ€
โ€œNo. Whatโ€™s your age range for a one night-stand?โ€
โ€œHmm.โ€ Gianni thought for a moment.
โ€œPlease say at least eighteen.โ€
โ€œNo teenagers. Iโ€™ll say twenty to forty-five.โ€
โ€œForty-five? Really?โ€
He shrugged. โ€œI think mature women are hot. But I canโ€™t go near fifty because thatโ€™s my momโ€™s age and then it would be weird.โ€
โ€œRight.โ€
โ€œSo what about you? Same question.โ€
โ€œIโ€™d have to say . . . thirty to forty.โ€
He looked offended. โ€œWhy thirty? Youโ€™re only twenty-three.โ€
And so was he, which was why Iโ€™d said it. โ€œI know, but I think older men are just better in bed.โ€ (Iโ€™d actually never been with anyone over twenty-eight.)
โ€œIn what way?โ€
โ€œJust . . . more patient. More knowledgeable. More generous. Guys in their twenties think theyโ€™re all that just because they have younger bodies, especially if theyโ€™reโ€”you knowโ€”well-endowed. But itโ€™s not just the size of the boat. Itโ€™s definitely the motion of the ocean.โ€
He harrumphed. โ€œYouโ€™ve been in the wrong boats.โ€

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Oh, Gianni and Ellie warmed my heart with their snarky banter, blizzard bang, and surprise pregnancy!

Everything about Taste was fantastic. A playboy with an ego. A hero and heroine with an established history as childhood friends. Close quarters. Sassy remarks. Loads of sexual energy. I just loved everything about the way Melanie Harlow wrote Ellie and Gianni as characters, as well as their steamy two-night-stand. And then all of the emotion that came after that! Both of them pining for the other. Ellie afraid to open up herself to Gianni because he never stays in one place for very long. Gianni feeling confused about his feelings for Ellie, feelings that he’s never had before.

And then that scene during the ultrasound! Oh, my heart melted. His protectiveness kicked in big time, and I adored his Grand Gesture and how far he went to convince Ellie that he wanted to be with her.

I must confess, I have not read Frenched (Ellie’s parents) or Forked (Gianni’s parents), but they have been on my TBR for quite some time. Now I really wish I had read those Melanie Harlow books because I think it would have made me love Ellie and Gianni that much more! I can’t wait for Felicity and Hutton’s book!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Sneaking Around With #34 by Piper Rayne

I have a reputation for being tight-lipped. You learn quick when you become a professional hockey player to be guarded with the media, so I’ve worked hard to cover up the mistakes of my youth.

But when I’m traded to the Florida Fury, where my ex-best friend is the starting right wing, I’m forced to confront my past. Ford and I have a lot of history, especially when it comes to his little sister, Imogen.

My heart still lurches in my chest when I see her.
My hands want to reach out and touch her.
My mouth wants to keep apologizing.

She’s the only woman who ever made me want more. But she’s also the one who fell victim to my most regrettable decision.

I’m not a believer in fate, but I must be back in her world for a reason. I’ve fought for everything I’ve gotten and I’m not backing down from what I know will be the best thing in my life.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Sneaking Around With #34 is another great Hockey Hotties book from Piper Rayne! This time around, we get an emotional second-chance romance between Warner, who has recently been traded to the Florida Fury, and Imogen, Ford’s sister (from #3). But this isn’t just a brother’s best friend romance. There is a lot of messy history between Warner, Ford and Gen that goes back to when they were in high school, when Warner and Ford were best friends and hockey teammates, and Warner and Gen fell in love.

Now that Imogen is working with the Fury, Warner sees his chance at getting her to forgive him for what went down between them a decade ago. But is she willing to have her heart shattered again?

I really enjoyed this story. Imogen really tried to keep Warner at a distance, but the fact is, she’s still in love with him even after all these years. I am usually pretty good at sniffing out a plot twist, but this one surprised me! I loved the anticipation building up to the scene where they finally hash things out, and the result was a great payoff!

After reading Ford’s book first, I really saw the resemblance between how he was trying to control keeping Imogen and Warner apart with how his own father tried to control his life.

The end of this book was very satisfying as Imogen and Warner get everything they’ve always wanted together. It warmed my heart ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3.5 Stars

There is a lot to unpack between Kane and JoJo in Shattered Secrets. This story starts out over a Labor Day weekend when these two are just going at each other constantly. Their bickering, their banter, their hate… it’s electric. But then Kane literally saves JoJo’s life, and there is a whole new level of sizzle between them.

But then Kane married her sister, Alma, and they barely see each other for decades. More than 20 years later, JoJo tracks Kane down because she needs his legal help. Their snarky banter picks up where they left off all those years ago, but there’s an undercurrent of sexual attraction. And with Kane on the brink of divorcing Alma, what’s to stop them from acting on it? Well, the secret that JoJo’s been keeping from Kane and her sister will threaten to destroy several lives.

How did Kane end up being trapped in a marriage to Alma? What the heck led to that shocking cliffhanger? While I did suspect that *that* ending was where the story was going, I have so many questions about the how!

Much of Shattered Secrets is expos — there’s a lot of backstory and talk of history, but no major movement in the relationship between Kane and JoJo, and that’s why I’ve rated this 3 stars. Hopefully, that will be unpacked in the conclusion to this duet. Even though nothing happened between them, I found myself invested in this couple and rooting for them.

Only One Love is another great installment in the Only One series by Natasha Madison. (Itโ€™s also a spin-off/next generation book from her previous hockey series). Wilson (Brad) and Franny have a great connection right from the start, and NM makes this one-night-stand story become something spectacular. Seven books into this series, and I still look forward to the next couple when a new one comes out!

Wilson isnโ€™t the guy that the media makes him out to be, and I loved that soft side that Franny brings out of him. She is a great heroine, strong, sure of what she wantsโ€ฆ neither of them do relationships so of course that is exactly what this one night stand evolves into. But will two people who have shucked off love be able to navigate it successfully?

As with some of the other books in this series, the previous characters cross over, which is a great nod for longtime NM readers. Especially with all the crazy that goes along with Franny and Bradโ€™s families.

This sexy, swoony book is one to indulge in!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Oh, my heart! SL Scott again delivers a powerful, angst-filled second chance romance that packs a whopper of an emotional punch. I was up into the wee hours of the morning reading because I could not put Best I Ever Had down!

Cooper and Story lived completely different lives, yet there are so many threads that connect them. Threads that they didn’t even know existed even after they met. Cooper lives the life of a prince, but in many ways, he is an emotional pauper, used as a pawn in his family’s game of success and fortune. I felt so badly for him during the scenes with his parents. They are such vile people, and they treated Story (and Cooper for that matter!) absolutely horribly.

Cooper and Story’s story was nothing short of amazing, despite the time, secrets, and unfortunate circumstances that pulled them apart. But just like they were destined to meet six years ago, when they cross paths again in New York City years later, it’s like no time has passed. Except that so much has actually happened to each of them. It was beautiful to see them pick up where they left off, talk through their issues, realized where they went wrong, and forge a new relationship with their little boy, Reed.

Cooper and Story loved fast, loved hard, and fell even harder. Best I Ever Had is full of angst and big emotions, but it has the most wonderful HEA! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

โ€œI like the sneaky workings of your brilliant mind.โ€ The Prince tugs the Pickle deli hat low on his head, almost obscuring those devilish eyes.
We cross the kitchen to the back door, Rachel trailing behind.
He tugs it open and peers out. โ€œWhich way?โ€
I point down the alley. โ€œHead to that street, then to the right two blocks. The photographers are headed the other way.โ€
He turns to grin at me. โ€œYouโ€™re really saving me here. Can I kiss you?โ€
I take a step back. โ€œUh. No.โ€
โ€œDamn. I never like to leave a beautiful girl unkissed. Handshake then?โ€
I hold mine out. โ€œSure.โ€
He grips my palm and my whole body feels electrified, like he carries a charge. I stare at my hand after he lets it go.
He touches the hat brim, and then heโ€™s gone.
Rachel peers out the door. โ€œAwww, Sunny, why didnโ€™t you kiss him?โ€ She crosses her arms over her green deli apron. โ€œI could have been your waiting lady or something.โ€
I push the door closed. โ€œIf he kisses every girl he sees, he doesnโ€™t sound like happily-ever-after material.โ€
Rachel kicks out her hip. โ€œHe didnโ€™t ask to kiss ME.โ€

Royal Pickle RB Teaser

Sunny Shelly’s Review

Pickle cousin Sunny Packwood finds her prince in this new Pickle series book. Royal Pickle is absolutely charming!

Prince Leopold needs to find a bride or be forced to marry one of his father’s choosing. He’s been sleeping his way around Europe and America when he stumbles into the deli Sunny and Grammy Alma run in Brooklyn — literally running from the paparazzi. He’s smitten by Sunny, especially since she doesn’t know who he is nor does she care. A few hours later, unable to forget the kindness she showed him, Leo thinks that Sunny can solve his problem and he proposes marriage.

The connection between Sunny and Leo is so great. I loved how these two got to know one another, and how they overcame the cultural differences. Especially when Leo takes American colloquialisms so literally. Their mutual attraction and fondness quickly grows into instalove. Go along for the ride as Sunny — who feels stuck in her life — travels to this small, little-known European country and gets the royal treatment as the prince’s fiancee. Well, kinda. There is family drama since the King does not approve of the American his son has chosen, and a whole lot of misunderstanding that threatens to come between the bride and groom’s royal wedding.

There are a few scenes with Sunny’s cousins, the Pickle brothers, towards the end of the book when the wedding madness takes place. But the bulk of this story takes place at Leo’s castle, so the supporting characters we get to know well are his sisters, Lilli and Octavia. I enjoyed those two girls so much, and really hope that this series gets a spinoff to include them!

Wes canโ€™t stay away.

He just got back to town and has been stopping by Quinnโ€™s pub every night for a chance to see the feisty woman that heโ€™s always had a crush on.

When he sees how stressed she is, all he wants to do is help, but Quinn turns him down.

When Wes goes behind her back to help, will Quinn be able to forgive him or will Wes lose the girl of his dreams?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Because Youโ€™re Mine was a quick hit โ€” it took me about an hour during a car ride to read the whole thing โ€” and a steamy friends-to-lovers story.

Quinn and Wes kind of circled each other back in high school. She runs the local bar where he hangs out, and he finally asks her out after showing up night after night. But she has a lot on her plate with trying to keep the bar afloat, and puts Wes off at first. Just as they start dating, Wes makes a business decision that has major effects on Quinn. Will she see that he had her best interest in mind because she belongs to him and him to her?

I enjoyed the flirtation between Wes and Quinn, and how he was just there as a support for so long. It kind of bothered me a bit how they went from a first kiss to fooling around so quickly, just because I liked the development of their relationship and wanted to see more first before it got that physical. But despite that, I enjoyed the way this story unfolded.

This is the first book Iโ€™ve read by SA Clayton, and I will definitely keep her on my radar.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blurb:

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Wedding Game comes a new romantic comedy about the antics that ensue when three siblings come together for their parentsโ€™ fiftieth-anniversary party.

Martin and Peggy Chance believe love should last a lifetime. With their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the horizon, theyโ€™ve modeled a beautiful relationship for their three grown children. But to their dismay, that lesson hasnโ€™t quite caught onโ€”the three siblings just canโ€™t seem to take a chance and find love in their own lives.

Thereโ€™s Ford, the eldest, devoted to his work and resistant to romanceโ€ฆor so he claims. Cooper, the middle child, canโ€™t get past his divorceโ€”until he reconnects with a feisty baker from his past. And Palmer, the baby of the family, is the free-spirited world traveler who always pictured herself with someone other than a handsome small-town family doctor.

When the Chance siblings come together to plan the ultimate anniversary party for their parents, theyโ€™ll have to navigate romantic entanglements, sibling rivalries, and the definitive end of their childhood. Whatever happens, The Reunion promises to be a fun, flirty, wild ride.

You know I hate it when you respond in the subject line. Itโ€™s more work to delete the subject line and type in your response, than to just reply in the body of the email.
But ignoring that, what happened to the beautiful linen invites I picked out? You canโ€™t just send an email for Mom and Dadโ€™s 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. We look so . . . uncultured.

The invites you wanted to purchase were going to be twelve dollars a pop. TWELVE dollars, Palmer. Thatโ€™s a waste of money, a waste of resources, and just a useless way to kill more trees. Also, while youโ€™re out galivanting around the world, who do you think was going to have to address all of those?
Me.
So, I did what was easiest. Sent an email. If you donโ€™t like it, too bad.

Just catching up.
The invitation is less than ideal, especially for such a large and monumental event in our parentsโ€™ lives, parents who have given us every opportunity to succeed in life. I think we need to treat this anniversary with a little more appreciation and a little less complaining about the time and effort we have to put forth in order to make it happen.
I just spoke with Larkin and she is ordering the linen invites, having them shipped overnight, and we will have them sent out ASAP. We will treat the email as a funny save the date. I will reply all and tell everyone to expect a formal invitation in the mail.
Larkin and I will be flying out to Washington on Tuesday. We will be working up until the anniversary party on some very time-consuming tasks. Please be conscious of our time and energy.
Iโ€™ll be sure to have Larkin schedule in some meetings to go over all party arrangements as well as time with the family, but we wonโ€™t be staying with Mom and Dad. We booked two rooms at the Marina Island Bed and Breakfast, one being the attic suite so we can conduct business in private.
Please send your itineraries to Larkin and any requests so she can schedule them in.
Thank you.
Ford

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Buckle up for The Reunion! Messy family drama, bickering siblings, three romances and a whole lot of big emotions are packed into 60 chapters of this wonderful story. Iโ€™m a member of Meghan Quinnโ€™s review team, so Iโ€™ve known for a while that this girthy book was coming readersโ€™ way. And it is epic!

The three Chance siblings, Cooper, Ford, and Palmer, used to be super close, but bad feelings and miscommunication has caused a rift between them. They try to put together an anniversary party for their parents and fail miserably as old hurts come to the surface and their fragile relationships become more strained. MQ beautifully wrote the POV from each sibling as well as their prospective partners: Nora, Larkin, and Beau.

What I found even more brilliant was the way she detailed how each sibling felt in relation to their position (or lack therefore) in the family business. Ford feels all the weight of the company on his shoulders as CEO, Palmer desperately wants to be involved but doesnโ€™t think she deserves to be because of a secret sheโ€™s hiding from the past, and Cooper resents his siblings for being so far away, leaving him to care for their aging parents and canโ€™t get Ford to take him seriously bc of decisions heโ€™d made in the past. Decisions he made with his parents in mind.

I read The One Night, which is a prequel novella and sets up the one-night stand between Cooper and Nora, his ex-wifeโ€™s best friend. I was dying to see how these two were going to make it work, because Cooper is in such a bad place after his divorce. His life is a mess, he hates his job, he resents his siblings.

This book is so well done! Not just the individual romances, but the family drama as well. Great job, MQ!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

BLURB

You might think the problem would be waking up in Vegas, hungover,

next to a beautiful woman whoโ€™s wearing your boxer briefs

and finding out ya married her in the middle of an epic drunken night of festivities.

But youโ€™d be wrong.

I, Nolan Cassidy, international charmer and maker of mischief have fallen head over heels for Cora Delaney.

I want to be married to the lass.

So you might think the problem would be that she wants an annulment.

But again youโ€™d be wrongโ€”stop getting it so wrong.

I, Nolan Cassidy, with my devil tongue and Irish accent, will no doubt change her mind.

Does the problem lie in that she has a son who doesn’t like me and is as clever and crafty as I?

Or that Iโ€™ve only got one monthโ€”until St. Patrickโ€™s Dayโ€”to prove to my one true love

that I can be a good husband and father?

Cโ€™mere and Iโ€™ll tell yaโ€ฆ

None of that is the problem.

Iโ€™m a problem.

My boxing days may be behind me

but the fight never left me.

When I see something I want, I get it.

And nothing is going to stand in my way.

Not my new wifeโ€™s hesitation nor her sonโ€™s doubts.

So buckle up, strap in.

Because Iโ€™m no longer in the business of wanting.

Iโ€™m in the business of having.

Which is gonna make for one wild Paddyโ€™s Day.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

A sexy fling turns into an accidental marriage, which leads to a charming happily ever after for Cora and Nolan in A Very Vegas St. Patrick’s Day. There are some twists and turns along the way โ€” namely that Cora wants a divorce and her son can’t stand Nolan โ€” but Nolan isn’t about to let Cora go without a fight. This sexy romcom is full of fun.

Cora and Nolan clicked right away for me. I love their witty banter, and they had sizzling chemistry. Nolan takes his time trying to get Ashton to like him. A new relationship can be difficult for the child of a single parent to adjust to, and I really enjoyed how the journey between Nolan and Ashton went a much as I like the development of Nolan and Cora’s romance.

This book is part of Loring’s Very Holiday series. There are crossover characters, but this is a true standalone. I haven’t read the others in the series, and was easily able to follow along. Great job on the co-writing collaboration with Connor Crais! This is the second book I’ve read co-written by the two of them, and I look forward to many more!

Now I want to listen to this on audio to hear Connor Crais do Nolan’s Irish accent! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

ABOUT KAYLEY LORING

Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn’t allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now sheโ€™s an Amazon Top 25 bestselling author who is breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words. Itโ€™s an adjustment sheโ€™s happily getting used to.

Rest assured that her funny sexy sweet romances have no cheating or cliffhangers, and always have HEAs!
