Series: Road Trip Romance #1

Author: A.K. Evans
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 1, 2019
Blurb
Max King has lived in northern Maine all his life. And if there’s one
thing he’s learned living in his close-knit community, it’s that they look out
for one another.
With a life-threatening winter storm approaching, it’s no surprise Max is
concerned for the residents of his beloved small town. But it’s his new neighbor
that really has him worried. With the power out and temperatures plummeting,
Max does what any good neighbor would do. He offers her a place to stay.

Finding a decent man is hard enough. But for Eleanor Page it’s even
harder.

Because she’s a self-made billionaire. And that seems to be difficult for the
men she meets to handle.

So when her rugged, handsome neighbor shows up on her doorstep during a massive
storm, Eleanor is a bit shell-shocked. While she initially rejects his offer,
it’s isn’t long before she has no other option.

As the snow piles up outside and Max turns on the charm, Eleanor struggles to
share the truth about who she is.

But when tragedy strikes and Eleanor tips the scales, she wonders if she’s lost
her chance at love.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This starts off with a hilariously awkward meet-cute. Florida native Eleanor has no idea what to expect when she finds herself facing her first Maine snowstorm. Luckily, hot neighbor Max checks in on her and offers to help her ride out the storm. She’s had a crush on him since she moved in, but he has been so wrapped up in his own life, he barely noticed her. But once he does, his eyes are wide open.

Ella and Max fall hard and fast for one another during the blizzard, but will the secret she’s been keeping keep them apart once they emerge from their blissful cocoon?

Tip The Scales was a short and lighthearted read. There are some twists in the story, but it’s fairly angst-free and a shorter story that’s great to read on a binge. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Kiss Me Tonight, by Emma Hart

KMT-BANNER-LIVE

What do a wrong number text, a burning building, and a quirky florist have in common?

A hunky firefighter with an extra-large…hosepipe.

Kiss Me Tonight, an all-new hilarious standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

KISSMETONIGHT-1

In hindsight, I never should have opened that text message. The last thing I needed first thing on a Monday was a picture of some stranger’s, um, eggplant, in my inbox.

I also should have replaced the batteries in my fire alarm, because my Friday night did not need to end with my apartment building going up in flames.

But it’s fine. It’s fine. Everything is fine.

I’m only lying in a hospital bed with more split ends than I’ve ever had, almost all my Earthly possessions have turned to ash, and apparently, they don’t serve wine to patients in this place.

But like I said, it’s fine.

Until he walks in.

The guy who saved my life. My hero. Noah Jacobs.

And the universe is amusing itself at my expense, because the dirty photo I woke up to on Monday?

It’s his.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Kiss Me Tonight is book #2 in Emma Hart’s Kiss Me series. It is an interconnected standalone, and follows Kiss Me Not. Reagan is Preston’s sister and Halley’s best friend from KMN.

Holy crap was this book funny. I was reading it while my kids were in Sunday school and trying so hard not to laugh out loud as I sat in the church library. The meet-cute between Noah and Reagan is unlike anything I’ve ever read before, and their text messages and in-person banter has me in stitches.

And Poosh! I’ve read plenty of books with a$$home cats but not an a$$home chihuahua! How I would have loved to have seen crazy Aunt Bethel interact with the dog!

The only thing that stopped me from giving this 5 stars is that I wanted more of Noah’s backstory. He’s such a good guy. But aside from a few references about his family living in Maine, we didn’t learn much about him.

Still, KMT was full of fun, and it’s an easily a binge-read. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt

“Hi.”

I glanced over at him, my lips curving. “Hi.”

“You ready?”

“To escape the madhouse? What do you think?”

“That I should put my foot down.”

I winked and clicked my belt into place. “Let’s go. Where are we going?”

Noah pulled away from the curb. “I was going to let you direct me. I haven’t been in town long, like I said, and I definitely haven’t been out for lunch.”

I leaned back in the seat. “Hmm. What do you want to eat?”

“You’re the one breaking out of jail. I’m happy to go wherever you want to.”

“Oh, no. I hate making decisions like this. Do you know how difficult it is to pick somewhere to eat?” I shifted my whole body so I could look at him. “Do you want Chinese? Thai? Steak? Korean? Pizza? Burgers? Caribbean? Mexican? Spanish? French? Italian?”

Noah’s gaze darted my way. “Do you have all those places in Creek Falls?”

“No, but that doesn’t make the decision any easier,” I replied. “Well? Burgers? Pizza? Mexican? Italian? Steak? Or Chinese?”

“I don’t—shit me, I feel like I’m being interrogated by the fucking Government.”

“You may as well be. Pick somewhere and I’ll tell you where to go.”

“I said you can pick.”

“I don’t care. I’ve been everywhere. They’re all good. You’re the new boy in town. Pick somewhere.”

“You’re demanding, do you know that?”

“Yes, Preston—oh, he’s my brother—regularly points out how demanding and difficult I am.” I paused. “If you really want me to pick, I will, but you can’t complain after.”

He turned the blinker on so we’d head in the direction of Main Street. “You just said they’re all good.”

“They are, but it’s not my fault if you feel like pizza and end up with a taco.”

“I can honestly say that I do not care what I eat for lunch as long as it’s edible.”

“Right. Then turn left, then right, and pull into the parking lot next to the liquor store.”

“I see you’re taking us to a reputable location.”

“Oh, no. The liquor store is a pit stop. It just happens to be on the way to the Mexican place I like.”

“I see. So you’re using me for liquor.”

“You’ve met my great-aunt. Damn straight I’m using you for liquor.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Wow!! Silent Music is the first book I’ve read by Aisling Magic, and I was blown away! Phoenix and Kai’s story was so raw and absolutely magical. The dedication that he shows to Phoenix is both heartwarming and heartwrenching. I sobbed during Part 1, as Kai sat by her bedside week after week, reading passages from her journal and begging her to wake up.

Then we get to Part 2. And I sobbed some more. I loved that Phoenix didn’t wake up and everything went back to normal. She really struggled with her new reality and as a result, so did those who love her. I was so happy that the author detailed that struggle and how everyone came to terms with their new normal. And the detail was great. From Phoenix’s frustration to Kai’s depression, I felt every little bit.

This book was one that will resonate with me long after I’ve finished reading. And one that I come back to again. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Reveal, by K. Bromberg

Reveal - BT banner

I play to win, and I won’t let anything—or anyone—get in the way of what I want.

REVEAL, the raw, sexy, and jaw-dropping finale to the Wicked Ways series by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg, is available now!

cover169622-medium

The first time I met Vaughn Sanders, I knew I wanted her. Confident, intelligent, and downright sexy. I thought I knew how to play her game. I was ready and willing for the challenge. Little did I know she was full of secrets and surprises.

But so am I.

Charming a woman into my bed has never been my problem. It’s the relationship part that is. They want it. I don’t. But can you blame me? Broken marriages are how I make a living. Hell, no self-respecting man would let a woman own his thoughts, invade his dreams, and steal his heart. So how in the world has Vaughn done that to me?

I’ve fallen in love with her. There. I said it. But that acknowledgment comes with a heavy price.

Everything and everyone seem to be working against us, leaving us both to question whether what we have is worth the cost.

I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

She want's a fight_

Excerpt

“Ryker . . . please . . . just let me go.” But this time when she speaks there is something in her voice that catches my ear. The same thing that has me looking a little bit closer, regardless of how much my chest constricts in doing so, and I notice the tears welling in her eyes and the tremble of her bottom lip.

A chink in her damn armor. She doesn’t want to tell me we’re over any more than I want to believe her.

“What the fuck is going on here? You’re hiding something from me.”

“No. I’m not. This just can’t be.” She starts to skirt around me, and it takes everything I have not to reach out and keep her there.

“Don’t walk away from me when I’m talking to you!”

“And don’t you think for a second you can tell me what to do,” she counters, hair flying over her shoulder, jaw clenched.

“I’m not in the mood for your games.”

“My games?” she screeches and throws me off guard when I shouldn’t be. “My games? You’re the one who did this to me. All of it. And you tell me I’m playing games?”

“What the—?” I stop and try to figure out what she’s talking about. My hands are on her shoulders, and I’m all but shaking her to force her to look me in the eyes. “Did what to you, Vaughn? What the hell have I done to you besides fuck myself over by falling in love with you?” Words that should be said with kindness come out in a frustrated rage. Truths I don’t want to voice, and now I can’t take them back.

And she just stands there with her head shaking to reject my words, eyes wide with a hint of fear, and fuck if I don’t hate myself right now for everything I feel: rage, desperation, love, desire.

How can you swear you’re not cut out for a relationship and love in one breath, then with the next fight so goddamn hard to keep it?

What is this woman doing to me?

I scrub my hands over my face and take a deep breath to calm the fuck down. To force myself to cool my temper so I can keep her here instead of pushing her farther away.

“What is it, baby?” I all but plead with a voice as soft as I can make it. “Tell me why you’re walking away when you don’t want to.” She averts her eyes, confirming there’s something more. “I can’t help you unless you tell me what happened. I can’t understand why the other night meant nothing to you until you do.”

Come on. Talk to me.

“Carter paid me a visit after I left your place.” Her voice is soft, but her defiance is mounting.

That’s definitely not what I expected to come out of her mouth.

“What do you mean, Carter paid you a visit?”

“Just what I said.”

“Why? For what? That fucking asshole better not have touched you.”

“Does it matter if he did?” Her voice rises. “You invited him into my personal life. You gave him everything he needs to destroy me.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

MUST READ PART 1 FIRST.

Reveal picks up at the shocking cliffhanger from the previous book, but now we get Ryker’s POV. Why he did what he did, why he feels the way he does about relationships… we get a good look inside his mind. And he spends a lot of time groveling for Vaughan’s forgiveness, but even that may not be enough as these two navigate a relationship.

Ryker really shows a vulnerable side, which I loved. Because I thought he was a jerk the first time around. He redeemed himself in my eyes, and he and Vaughan really grew as characters and as a couple. They do get a nice ending, but it’s a long and rocky road and doesn’t come easily.

This was an intriguing duet. Full of steam and suspense and angst, and absolutely enthralling. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Magic Man by Jamie Schlosser

Title: Magic Man
Series: The Good Guys
Author: Jamie Schlosser
Genre: New Adult Standalone Romance
Release Date: September 26, 2019
CASEY
I’ve been putting my son first for so long that I’ve forgotten how to be me. Each monotonous day bleeds into the next, and I feel like I’m struggling to keep my head above water.
But a kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel with a man I barely know changes that.
Jay reminds me that I used to be bold. Vivacious. Funny.
Strong.
Now if only I could convince him his past mistakes don’t define the man he is today.

JAY
I can perform over a dozen illusions with a simple sleight of hand, but I can’t make the felony on my record disappear.
The last thing I should be doing is hanging around a young single mom and her kid.
But Casey doesn’t know that I’ve been watching her. That I want her for myself. That I’m addicted to her dimples, her tenacity, her fierce love for her child.
If I was a better man, I’d leave her alone, but she pulls off the biggest magic trick of all time: making me believe I’m a good guy.

EXCERPT

Would you say you’re more trustworthy now, or before you went to jail?” I asked.
His eyebrows furrowed. “Now, of course. I don’t do the things I used to.”
“But you didn’t have a record then.”
“Yeah.” He let out a humorless chuckle. “Because I hadn’t gotten caught yet.”
“Exactly. Sometimes the squeaky-clean ones only look great on paper because they’ve never been caught. It doesn’t make them innocent or harmless.”
We stopped moving.
“Casey,” he breathed out, his tone a bit tortured as he buried his face in my hair. “If I was a better man, I’d walk away from you and your son. I’d leave you alone. I’d let some other guy—a doctor or a teacher or anyone who’s not me—sweep you off your feet and give you everything you’ve ever wanted.”
“But you’re not that good, right?” I asked lightly, a smile spreading over my lips.
Jay pulled back slowly, his scruff scraping against my cheek along the way. Tingles spread over my skin as he gave me a heated look.
He cupped the nape of my neck, and his gaze fell to my mouth. “No, I’m not.”
And then his lips were on mine.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Are we forever defined by the mistakes of our past? Magic Man takes a good, hard look at past forgiving yourself for your past mistakes and turning your life around.

I really liked how together Casey was for such a young single mom. She’s only 18, and she’s struggling, but she has her stuff together. She’s doing the best that she can… as Jay reminded her. I loved how she kept throwing his words back at him, because despite what Jay thought about his past as a junkie drug dealer, he really was doing the best he could to stay sober and make something of himself post-prison.

In the beginning, Jay was borderline stalkerish at first. But he was so enamored with Casey and really stepped up for her and Gus over and over again, that I let my initial impression of him slide and saw him for the romantic hero that he was. And little Gus was adorable. He isn’t just a prop character, but he propels the relationship between Casey and Jay.

Magic Man is a standalone in Jamie Schlosser’s The Good Guys series, but there is an appearance by Makenna and Jimmy from Dropout. (Casey’s babydaddy is Makenna’s abusive ex from that book.) If you’re looking for a feel-good romance, check it out. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Jamie Schlosser writes steamy new adult romance and romantic comedy. When she isn’t creating perfect book boyfriends, she’s a stay-at-home mom to her two wonderful kids. She believes reading is a great escape, otters are the best animal, and nothing is more satisfying than a happily-ever-after ending.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I am a big fan of Kelsie Rae’s Signature Sweethearts series. This book is nothing like those! The SS series are sweet, wholesome (mostly clean) feel-good romances. Wild Card is a gritty, dark, Mafia romantic suspense.

Wild Card is a wild ride full of twists and turns that will keep you in the edge of your seat…. until you get to that cliffhanger ending and want to hurl yourself off of the edge because you’ll want the rest of the story!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Synopsis

Rule #5: Don’t allow distractions. They’ll only break you.

In the blink of an eye, Kingston Romano’s entire world has fallen apart. His sister is in the hands of a rival mafia family, and his only hope of getting her back is by making a wager that includes the mysterious Acely Mezzerich.

Unfortunately for King, his feelings for Ace only escalate the longer he’s around her, muddling his conscience as well as his arrangement with the enemy. And if has any hope of saving his sister and keeping Ace, he needs to execute it perfectly.

As the pieces start to fall, he’ll have to learn who he can trust and who needs to be eliminated before it’s too late.

About the Author

Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels and enjoys a solid chick flick, too. When she’s not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, playing with her three small children who love to drive her crazy. She adores chocolate, photography, and baking. And now that she’s actively pursuing her writing dreams, she’s set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not eat an entire batch of cookies in one sitting.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This anthology features 11 new standalone novellas from some of the hottest indie authors. The stories are short enough to read in a single sitting, and the two that I read to review were cliffhangers, leading to the full novels to come.

The Guy In The Middle by Kate Stewart — I loved the connection between Lance and Harper. Their mutual dislike from the first time they met turned into a simmering romance that neither of them expected. Neither one of them was looking for a relationship, but they can’t fight the feelings between them. But she’s the daughter of his football coach, and their sneaking around eventually bites them in the butt. For his own good, Harper leaves Lance behind, but his life still goes to pot and two years later he decides that it’s time to fight back. But will he get his girl back? The release of the full novel can’t come soon enough!

Holt’s Story by Meghan Quinn — we return to Brentwood U, home of Carson, Knox and Holt. He and Harmony start off on the wrong foot, but it’s another sweet, sexy, can’t-stay-away-from-you story. There are some issues that both of them have to work through, and just when things get REALLY good, MQ ends the novella, leaving me wanting more! I’ve adored this series and can’t wait to see how things work out for Holt and Harmony, and what the author has planned for Jason.

After what could possibly be the world’s worst morning, the last thing Abbie expected to see as she walked into her meeting was her childhood nemesis.

Hunter. Freaking. James.

The title of world’s worst morning now seemed like an understatement.

When Abbie walked into the conference room looking like a complete mess, and still killed her presentation, Hunter knew he’d made the right decision signing on with WCM Advertising. He was there for one reason, and one reason only. Abbie was going to be his, even if he had to dare her every step of the way.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Hunter and Abbie spent their entire childhoods daring one another to do things. Gross things, silly things… and eventually when they were 16, to kiss. But Hunter broke her heart when his friends caught them smooching and he said it was all a joke. A week later, he broke her heart even more when he moved away and said goodbye, and that he hated her and she wasn’t lovable.

For Abbie, who was abandoned as a kid by her dad, that cut right into all of her insecurities. And she never forgot that moment. So years later, when she’s about to pitch a huge marketing campaign, she is shocked to see Hunter in the room. And even more shocked that they will be working together on the project.

When a business trip traps them together in Florida, Hunter has the perfect opportunity to tell Abbie how he’s really felt all these years. But did he do too much damage to their relationship? Will Abbie be able to believe that he actually wants her and it’s not some kind of twisted dare?
This story was the first I’ve read by this author, and it was enjoyable. It’s a slow burn, and I was dying to get to Hunter’s revelation. Because if he’s been in love with her all these years, why did he wait so long to come find her? I wish his reasoning had a bigger impact on me — that’s what made the difference IMO from this being a good book to a great book. But Nothing But A Dare is a sweet, sexy best friends/enemies-to-lovers romance. Abby REALLY does not like Hunter when he reappears in her life, and her anger issues were quite amusing. I was glad to see that she kind of kept her edge, even after they get to their HEA.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hey, thanks for reading my bio to check me out! Has anyone told you, you’re beautiful and amazing lately? Just in case they haven’t, I am!

So you want to know a little more about me? Well, okay then. Much like any author out there, sleeping doesn’t come easily to me. As it turns out, I’ve got horrible insomnia. Like, scary horrible. Anyway, when I was younger, to help myself fall asleep I’d tell myself stories. Each night I’d pick up where the story left off previously until it was complete. Then I started writing them down. A few months later, here I am, sharing my lack of sleep with all of you. Who said the stories in our heads can’t be fun for others?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Beaten Paths is a spinoff of Stephie Wall’s 2018 release Gravel Road. That book had told the story of Randi and Austin, and how Randi ran away as a teenager after an accident that nearly killed her older sister, Sarah. (Sarah went out looking for Randi after a fight, and was hit by a car.) Now we come to Beaten Paths, which is Sarah’s story, and her tale of love with Austin’s brother, Charlie.

I love how Charlie was the last person Sarah was expecting to be by her side as she recovered, but he was strong, supportive and just there every step of the way. She’d long had a crush on him, and then suddenly he appeared in her life like a guardian angel, giving her hope where she thought there was none. Charlie hasn’t exactly had an easy go of things in life either. But he finds a kindred soul in Sarah and wonders how he never knew how wonderful she was.

There are some frustrating moments in Beaten Paths, but Charlie and Sarah have a wonderful relationship, and Stephie Walls does a great job of vividly creating the loss and pain Sarah’s going through. I didn’t like Sarah much in Gravel Road, but reading Beaten Paths gave me a much different outlook on Randi’s big sister and what she’d gone through as having to be the mother figure.

She lives on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina in her own veritable zoo with two dogs, three cats, and Magoo (in no preferential order). Sunny Shelly’s Review: Neat, by Kandi Steiner

Neat - RB banner.jpg

Rival families. Deep secrets. Exact opposites who can’t help but cross all the lines. Neat will leave you thirsty for more Becker Brothers!” — bestselling author Staci Hart

Neat, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

Neat Cover FINAL.png

My life is over.

I swore I would never work at the whiskey distillery with my last name on it, that I would never be a part of my father’s legacy. But when I graduated with my art degree and realized there were no jobs, the devil appeared, and I sold my soul, agreeing to work in the family business if he’d give me the art studio I’d always dreamed of.

It can’t be that bad, I thought.

Until I realized my new boss was Logan Becker.

The Becker brothers have a reputation for being trouble, and since I love trouble, it’s no surprise to me that I’m infatuated by that forbidden fruit the first day I walk into the distillery. That lean, whiskey-eyed, too-hot-for-his-own-good man hates me — and I can’t blame him. His family has been at war with mine for decades, and for good reason.

The Beckers and the Scooters are the Montagues and Capulets of Stratford, Tennessee.

But if he’s Romeo, and I’m Juliet? Well… we all know how that story ends — and for that reason, I tell myself to steer clear.

Because if my father finds out I’m falling for Logan Becker, my life actually will be over.

And Logan’s will be, too.

Neat is a stand-alone book in the Becker Brothers Series.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Another Kandi book, another Becker brother! Logan gets the star treatment in Neat, an angsty forbidden romance between Stratford, TN’s version of the Montagues and Capulets. Logan and Mallory’s families have been at war for generations, and it’s pre-programmed for them to hate one another when Mallory takes a job at the Beckett distillery. And of course it’s not long at all before these two start to fall for one another, sworn enemies or not.

Kandi Steiner writes great characters. Mallory is so sweet, yet a feisty thing at the same time. Logan is an adorable nerdy hunk who likes his life and workplace in order… until Mallory arrives and upends his life in every way.

Neat is full of small-town goodness, with a healthy dash of family drama mixed in. The chemistry between Mallory and Logan is sizzling, and once again Kandi has written a story that will stick with you long after you get to The End. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

“So… I guess we should just be…” Logan swallowed. “Friends?”

The way he asked it, the way his eyebrows bent together, his lips flattening — I knew it was a hollow offer.

I nodded. “Sure. Of course.” A smile that felt like a wave of nausea found my lips. “Friends.”

Logan watched me, and I watched him, both of us waiting for something more. It seemed like there were a million unborn words between us, floating in the air, waiting for us to reach out and grab them and bring them to life. When a long moment of silence had passed, Logan bit the inside of his cheek, picking up his highlighter he’d abandoned on the desk when I’d walked in like he was ready to get back to work.

“But,” I said, and his eyes snapped to mine, the highlighter frozen over the page. “I mean… there’s another option, isn’t there?”

Logan dropped the highlighter, leaning back again. “There is?”

“I’m just saying,” I said, voice shakier than I wanted it to be in that moment. I took a sip of my coffee, shrugging. “What if we kept things low key… casual… just between us?” My eyes found his again. “It is what it is, and it’s not what it’s not. Right? No need for anyone to know.”

“Low key,” Logan repeated, like he was tasting the words, checking them for poison with his tongue. “So, friends… with benefits.”

I snorted. “If you want to be twenty-one about it, sure.”

Logan nodded, over and over, just a slight movement of his chin up and down as he considered it. I watched him as he stood, and I expected him to start pacing the office, but instead, he crossed it, closing his door and turning to face me.

His eyes swept over me, sparking a fire low in my stomach.

He wet his lips.

He took a step.

And then I was out of my chair, meeting him in the middle, the two of us crashing together like magnets.

His hands weaved into my hair when he captured my mouth with his own, both of us sighing on an inhale, moaning on the exhale, leaning into each other like we could somehow melt together completely. All the electricity I’d felt that night came back like a tidal wave, and I surrendered to the waves, letting them drown me. I wanted him to fill my lungs, to conquer every breath, to imprison me.

It was a kiss that told me we were both lying. We both wanted more.

But if it was a choice between this, or nothing at all?

There wasn’t a decision to make — not where I was concerned. It had already been made for us, without either of us having a say, without either of us having an ounce of control to throw this story in another direction.

We were inevitable, me and him.

And maybe we knew it from the start.

Logan backed me up to the desk, and when my ass hit it, I hiked both legs up, wrapping them around his waist and squeezing. He hissed, sucking my bottom lip between his teeth and releasing it with a pop, his hips rolling against mine. I broke the kiss to let out a gasp, and his mouth was on my neck in an instant, sucking and biting, my eyes rolling back at the contact.

He paused with his lips by my ear, breathing heavy. “I think this could work for me,” he whispered, running his tongue over my ear lobe. “This… friends agreement.” His hands squeezed where they held my hips, and the familiar pressure sent flashes of Saturday night barreling through my memory. I gasped, mouth still hanging open when he kissed my neck over to the opposite ear to whisper again. “What do you think?”

Against the voice inside me warning me not to, I ran my fingers through his hair, gripping those dark strands and pulling his lips back to mine.

That kiss was an answer.

That kiss was a lie.

And distantly, I realized that kiss might be the biggest mistake of my life.

About Kandi:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
