Trying Not to Love You is the first book in a small-town series from Kaylee Ryan centered around the Moran sisters. And the author really starts out with a bang with Copeland and Ellison’s second-chance romance.
Once upon a time, Ellison thought Copeland would be her forever. Then he upped and left, joined the Marines, without a word. What really happened was much more complicated than that, because Copeland felt like he had no choice other than to leave without a word to protect her. Miscommunication is at the center of what went wrong, and this couple’s struggle to reconnect when Copeland returns to town to care for his ill mother.
It takes a while for these two to finally get on the same page, and the hurt and heartbreak just build up in the meantime. In the end, it’s a hard-fought reunion, and I really liked the journey that Copelamd and Ellison went on.
This story was also a lovely introduction to the world of Magnolia Ridge. Having recently finished KR’s Nashville Rampage football series, I was excited to dive into a small-town romance from this author, and it was every bit as sweet and heartfelt as I expected it to be!
