DON’T FALL by E.M. Lindsey

Blurb:
That’s it. My neighbor has to die. There’s no other way around it. The man must be killed—and I’ll even find a way to do it gently, but this cannot go on.
Okay, maybe I’m a bit dramatic, but living next to my brother’s best friend who decided to befriend the crows that spend all week spreading garbage across my lawn is not what I signed up for.
I wanted quiet.
I wanted peace.
I wanted to stop fantasizing about the gorgeous man I couldn’t stand.
Unfortunately for me, North is a big presence with an annoyingly sunny smile and a way of making life sound like it’s worth living. And as a widower who wants to spend the rest of my life wallowing, the last person I want around is one who makes me question my new life’s purpose.
But these feelings can’t be real, can they? I had my great love, and I lost him. So that’s supposed to be it for me.
Isn’t that the way things go?
I can’t seem to stay away from North, even when I know I should. And when he starts to make me feel like maybe there’s another happily ever after out there, I find that as cautious as I’ve taken each step, I’m on the verge of falling once more.
Don’t Fall is the first book in the small town, enemies to lovers, heavy yearning, MM romance series, Storm Season. It features a virgin EMT whose smile is hiding a lot of things, a disgruntled, grieving writer who just wants solid sleep and a good meal, neighborhood crows wreaking havoc, cooking lessons, hurt/comfort, and a toe-curling happily ever after.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 stars
I enjoyed Don’t Fall so much! When the book begins, North and Leo are barely able to be in the same room as one another. But as it turns out, both of these men are just so insecure and have so many hang-ups because of past trauma that they just can’t get out of their own way. The chemistry between Leo and North is electric right from the start, and once they really start communicating and realize that their first impressions were way off base, a lovely relationship forms between the two of them.
This book packs quite a punch. North has lived his entire life taking care of his family, carrying around a tremendous amount of guilt because of a violent crime that he was a victim of, and as a result, feels like he doesn’t deserve to be happy. Meanwhile, Leo is living with a TBI after a horrific accident that left him a widow. He struggles with so much and hates being a burden to his brother, Easton (North’s best friend/coworker).
Just as North and Leo are trying to figure out what they are to one another, there are two pretty major setbacks that impact their relationship. They navigate both situations with grace and come out the other side even stronger.
Don’t Fall is a beautiful story of two people with messy lives who find calm in the chaos.
Sidenote: This is the third book I’ve read by this author, and as far as I can tell, they mainly write MM romances. But I was captivated by the backstory between North’s sister, West, and her fiance, Henry, and would love to see them as a main couple in a book one day! And I absolutely loved the brilliance of North naming one of the crows who frequent his property, Russell. Russell Crow.
I am looking forward to getting to know the other characters in this series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
