From Top 30 Amazon and USA Today Bestselling Author Jennifer Sucevic comes a forbidden, slow-burn pro hockey romance featuring a protective single dad, an off-limits nanny, and a secret that could tear them apart.
I never planned to end up pregnant, alone, and starting over. But life unraveled faster than I could hold it together, and now the only thing that matters is protecting my baby… even if I have no idea what comes next.
Taking a live-in nanny job for Laiken Lennox is supposed to be temporary. A fresh start. A safe place to land while I rebuild my life. It’s not supposed to be dangerous.
Laiken is my brother’s teammate.
My new boss.
A guarded NHL goalie and devoted single dad already fighting a custody battle.
I tell myself I can handle the proximity.
The late nights.
The way he looks at me like I’m something worth saving.
But living under his roof blurs every line I swore I wouldn’t cross.
Especially when he starts caring for me in ways no one else ever has.
I’m carrying another man’s baby.
He’s the last person I should fall for.
But the more time we spend together, the more Laiken feels like the one thing I can’t lose.
And when the truth comes out, it could cost me everything.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Promise Me This was such a wonderful slow-burn marriage of convenience story between Laiken, a pro hockey player single dad, and Kia, his teammate’s younger sister, whom he hires to be his daughter’s nanny as he battles his ex’s parents for custody. Add to that, Kia is pregnant and it’s not his baby. This book is all kinds of delicious complications.
I really did not like Kia’s ex or Laiken’s in-laws, so I was happy to see them come together to fight those outside forces. Laiken is such a green flag hero, and I loved how protective he was of Kia. For her part, Kia developed such a sweet relationship with Laiken’s daughter, and I loved that they all got the family they deserved.
Promise Me This is performed in duet narration by JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood. Peachwood did a great job with the younger Kia; I felt she really grasped the character’s vulnerabilities and naivety. And Harding, as always, is phenomenal with his portrayal of the main character. He’s growly when he needs to be, sweet and protective when he needs to be, and both actors really captured the characters well.
I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left a review.
