They say that its only just before you die that you truly see what’s important.

Nick Sloan can vouch for that. After being shot in the line of duty and barely pulling through, he knows that his dream job of working SWAT in the big city isn’t the dream he should be chasing. No, when he was lying in that hospital bed, it wasn’t the badge that he thought about, it was her.

Kady Shaw never thought she would see him again but then he turned up, out of the blue. The man she’d loved. The man she’d thought she would spend the rest of her life with. The man that had shattered her heart when he’d chosen a promotion over their engagement. But all of a sudden he’s back in Fate, Texas, back in their small hometown, back and swearing that he’s going to win her back as well.

Can Nick convince her that he can be trusted with her heart again? Is there anything left of Kady’s heart to give? Or is a life tied to a man that will always put himself in danger to save others too much to ask of her?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Out of the Blue is a sweet second-chance novella, a story easily read in a single sitting.

Years ago, Nick left Kady behind for a job and never looked back. The heartbreak nearly destroyed her. Now, after nearly being killed, Nick realizes that what he wants and needs in his life is Kady, and is back home in their small Texas town and ready to grovel for forgiveness.

I enjoyed this sweet story. Kady really makes Nick work for it, and holds out on reconciling until the end. This is an enjoyable feel-good story perfect for reading during a lazy day at the pool.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Jess Bryant is an avid indoorswoman. A city girl trapped in a country girl’s life, her heart resides in Dallas but her soul and roots are in small town Oklahoma. She enjoys manicures, the color pink, and her completely impractical for country life stilettos. She believes that hair color is a legitimate form of therapy, as is reading and writing romance. She started writing as a little girl but her life changed forever when she stole a book from her aunt’s Harlequin collection and she’s been creating love stories with happily ever afters ever since.

Jess holds a degree in Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is a lifetime supporter of her school and athletic teams. And why not? They have a ton of National Championships! She may be a girlie girl but she knows her sports stats and isn’t afraid to tell you that your school isn’t as cool as hers… or that your sports romance got it all wrong.
