Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Going For The Hole is a hit as far as an opposites attract romance book goes. Ashley is such a straight arrow, and Lucas is a laid-back golf pro who meet at a Myrtle Beach resort and have an instant connection. She’s there just trying to get through a bachelorette party weekend, and he’s trying to hide out from his sports celeb status. They both lie about their true identities when they first meet — which kind of annoyed me, because they both have trust issues to begin with. I get that’s the reason why they both lied about who they are/what they do, but it didn’t set the stage for honesty in their relationship from the get-go.
Nevertheless, Lucas and Ashley have loads of chemistry and lots of witty banter. The story is pretty standard fare as far as the “playboy is enamored with a woman for the first time and sets out to prove that he’s the guy for her stories” go. It’s an enjoyable read with likable characters and a great group of secondary characters with their own plotlines going on at the same time. I know nothing about golf, so I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to keep up with this story, but it was a non-issue. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
