Excerpt

Sierra’s pulse skittered in her throat. Had she been wrong? Her gaze dipped to his mouth once more, the tension crackling between them like live electricity as she anticipated feeling his lips on hers.
“Don’t,” he rasped out with a shake of his head, the warning in his voice clear.
She met his stare, unsure what to think. The mixed signals he was sending confused the hell out of her. “Why not?”
“Because.” A muscle bunched in his jaw, his eyes burning with suppressed need she would give anything to satisfy.
No. Because wasn’t an answer. She needed to know the reason why. “Because I’m still Noah’s little sister to you?”
He huffed out a bitter laugh. “Not even close.”
The tiny bubble of hope she’d been suppressing swelled in her chest. Sensing she could break through his defenses if she just pushed a little harder, she cocked her head to study him. “I’m a grown woman, Beckett.”
His gaze lingered on her mouth. “I noticed.”
The underlying heat in his tone, the way his eyes darkened, made that bubble expand. “Good. It’s about time.”
He didn’t answer.
She pushed again, the depth of her feelings throwing caution aside. “And since we’re being honest, I’ve wanted you for years.”
Shock flashed across his face. “What?”
Oh, please. She held back a snort. “No way you never noticed. None.” He was a Green Beret. He saw everything, details most people would miss. There was zero chance she had hidden everything well enough for him not to notice.
He shook his head, stepped back to run a hand through his hair in agitation. His knuckles were bloody, already turning color. “We can’t. You and I are a really bad idea.”
Maybe. Crossing the line was a huge risk for both of them. Still, she’d exposed too much to turn back now. She’d already laid herself bare. “Why not? Because you’re Noah’s best friend? Because I’m too young for you?”
“No.” He seemed to force himself to meet her gaze, and the look in his eyes made her heart thud. He wanted her, but refused to allow himself to go there.
Well, she refused to let this go. “Tell me why, Beckett.”
He made a frustrated sound and growled, “Because of this.” His hands locked around her upper arms as he spun them around and pinned her up against the side of the house with his powerful body.
Sierra gasped, her whole being going hot, then weak at the way he caged her in with his hands on either side of her head.
His dark eyes burned with a raging hunger as he towered over her, the muscles in his arms and shoulders taut, the unmistakable bulge of his erection shoved against her abdomen. His lips were inches above her own, his clean scent filling her lungs.
She shivered, paralyzed, every nerve ending coming to sudden, painful life, unfulfilled need making her ache inside. Oh, God, she needed him so badly, had no idea he’d wanted her this much…

And then his mouth was on hers, those big, strong hands diving into her hair, gripping tight. She moaned and automatically arched into him, her tingling breasts hitting the solid wall of his chest as she reached for his broad shoulders. She’d dreamed of this for so long, could hardly believe it was happening. Beckett tightened his hold on her, asserting his dominance and control. Her lips parted beneath the demanding stroke of his tongue and then it slid between them, caressing hers with such skill it tore a whimper of longing from her. It was so much more than she’d imagined it would be. She’d sensed this in him, this forceful, slightly rough edge as a lover.
It turned her into a puddle of need.

BLURB

Delilah Sage was my comfort within all the pain.

Offering open arms when I needed an escape.

The only one trusted to be there for me.

But our dreams were doomed from the start.

And I left her clinging to false hope.

Regret has plagued me for years.

The memories of Delilah refuse to fade.

Each second of every day, I want to claim her as mine.

But I won’t ruin her life.

And she’s better off without me.

When a job lands me in town, I plan to keep my distance.

My scars are mine alone.

Dredging up the past will only cause deeper damage.

But Delilah has always been my weakness.

And resisting her isn’t an option.

After all, there’s far too much for us to miss.

EXCERPT

“Why are you being like this?” I ask softly.

His voice is even more flat when he says, “Not sure what you mean. This is me.”

“You’re acting so detached and strange. This isn’t like you.”

“Well, you don’t know me anymore.”

That response brings fury and betrayal roaring to the surface again. “And whose fault is that, Zeke?” I grab a nearby mug with the intention of throwing it at his head. He’s giving me worse mood swings than Aunt Flo.

“We both know the answer. Let’s not play guessing games.”

“You’re ridiculous. I don’t understand you at all,” I say.

“A lot happens in five years. You’re not the only one who’s changed.” He gestures around the store.

“What is that supposed to mean? Are you upset about my career choice?”

“Nah, that isn’t it.”

“What then? Let’s stop dancing around. You came here for a reason,” I point out.

A flush races up his neck, painting the stubbled skin an angry red. “All of this is proof you never needed me. Not like I fucking depend on you.”

BLURB:

Recently divorced and down on her luck, Lesley DeLoach is determined to make a new life for herself. When she inherits her great aunt’s estate, Rosalyn Manor, her future seems to be heading in the right direction—until she sees the home’s crumbling skeleton.

Widower John Hambrice is barely keeping his construction company afloat and his children fed, so when he’s offered a job restoring the Rosalyn Manor he can’t turn it down. But the big city client with the high falutin lifestyle reminds him too much of the last time he was burned by big money.

As the summer temperatures rise, so does their attraction. He learns there’s more to the city girl than he expected, while she learns the country boy’s gruff exterior hides a heart of gold.

But each has lost so much in love already…is the chance of another broken heart worth the risk?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, so I want sure what to expect. What I got was a slow burn, opposites attract romance with a hit single dad and a bit of a mystery! John and Lesley’s relationship was captivating, and the mystery surrounding her Aunt Myrtle added another layer to this book that I wasn’t expecting!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Dating The Enemy, by Nicole Williams

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Ms. Romance, Hannah Arden, writes one of the top read relationship advice columns in the nation. Mr. Reality, Brooks North, writes the top read relationship advice column.

Ms. Romance believes in true love and soul mates. Mr. Reality believes love is a term humanity has assigned to the primal instinct to procreate. She believes in fate—he in chance. She knows there’s one right person for everyone—he knows there are multiple ones. The two writers couldn’t be more polarized on relationships. They’re professional rivals, and philosophical antagonists.

For eight years, their battles have been fought with words and ink. That changes when they apply for the same position at the World Times and find themselves face-to-face for the first time. Brooks isn’t the sour-faced, antiquity of a man Hannah pictured. And Hannah isn’t exactly the middle-aged shrew with cat hair on her housedress that Brooks imagined either.

In lieu of competing for the promotion traditional ways, the two writers are presented with playing the leading roles in a social experiment unlike any before. Can a person be tricked into falling in love? Can a relationship be crafted under the right string of circumstances? Hannah knows the answer. So does Brooks.

Agreeing to the terms, the two set out on a three-month dating experiment, live-streamed for the world to watch. All Hannah has to do to win is not fall in love with the narcissistic brute. All Brooks has to do is get the starry-eyed dreamer to fall in love with him. Both are so confident in their philosophies, they expect the challenge to be easy.

With the world watching, Brooks and Hannah will be forced to confront their beliefs and conclude, once and for all, who’s right. The answer is one neither of them saw coming.

“Where do you think you’re going?”
I jolted. Brooks had an annoying talent of being able to appear out of thin air. “As far away from this dance floor as I can get.”
“But we haven’t danced yet.” Brooks crept in front of my path, forcing me to stop or crash into him.
Braking to a stop, I shot him a look. “I’ll be sure to shed some tears for that later. When I’m asleep.”
“Someone’s notably grumpier now than they were earlier.” His eyes narrowed in an investigative kind of way. “Methinks you weren’t totally forthcoming about you minding if I danced with other women.”
The cameraman was leaning in, our ever-present third wheel, but I didn’t feel the need to lower my voice. “Methinks you were onto something when you expressed trepidation over your manhood’s functioning properties after tonight.”
Brooks let out a low whistle. “Under the right circumstances, those words, from that mouth, would be such a turn-on.”
“The right circumstances being what? Your standing appointment with a dungeon and a dominatrix?”
One dark brow lifted. “Bad kitty.”
“No. Grumpy cat.” I circled my face before going around him.
His arm whipped out, cinching around my waist to draw me back to him. “Let’s see if I can help with that.” His hand found mine, lifting it, while his other secured at my back, bringing me closer. And closer.
And . . .
“Brooks,” I hissed, remembering the camera before I put into words what I’d just felt.
He didn’t appear the slightest bit fazed. “What was that about my functioning manhood?”
“I don’t want to feel it digging into my stomach when I’m trying to focus on tangoing.”
“Then you shouldn’t have worn that dress.”
“And we’ll lump that in the category known as victim-blaming,” I muttered, trying to ignore the hard swell rubbing against my midsection.
“It’s not your fault my dick has a thing for your dress.” Brooks didn’t lower his voice at all. “It’s his fault, one hundred and ten percent. Total case of dick-blaming right here.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Dating The Enemy is a fresh take on the office place rivals fauxmance. A month after Hannah had a one-night stand she’ll never forget (even if he didn’t call) in Chicago, she’s stunned to see him in the office of her New York City newspaper vying for the same position she’s after. She’s romance columnist Ms. Romance; Brooks is cynical columnist Mr. Reality. But their battle for the position at the paper takes a turn when for the next three months, the man who doesn’t believe in love must woo the woman who believes in soulmates and happily ever after… on a reality dating web series.

I loved that somewhere along the way, Brooks and Hannah began secretly dating for real, but because of the show, she questioned him at every turn when he tries to discuss his feelings. I wish we’d had some chapters in his POV, because I’d really have loved to see what was happening in Brooks’ mind.

The chemistry between them was great, and it wasn’t until I finished the book that I realized that there was nothing more than a few kissing scenes! Overall, this was a highly entertaining and enjoyable read of opposites attract, fate, and finding love where you least expect it. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Not Quite Perfect, by Rebecca Norinne

42654678_1121455868001960_4011354164310310912_n.jpg

On the ferry to my mother’s wedding, I met the most amazing man—his love of Faulkner notwithstanding. Professor David Carstairs was funny, intelligent, and had the sexiest hands I’d ever seen. A conversation about classic American literature led to a romantic dinner at his house … and then a whole lot of dessert afterward. I’d never done anything like that before, but what we had was something special.

Unfortunately, everything came crashing down the next day. Because my supposedly perfect professor? His dad just married my mom, and now he’s my stepbrother!

Thanksgiving dinner just got a whole lot more complicated.

42596816_1121372764676937_5450466060157321216_n.jpg

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I do not think that Not Quite Perfect is a fitting title for this book, because Victoria and David were pretty perfect for one another! The Lit professor is like the God of all intellectual men, and the connection between David and Victoria jumped off the page as soon as they met!

This story is full of heart, sweet and sassy, with an adorkable hero and heroine and great supporting characters in Victoria’s brothers. (I can’t wait to see what happens with Theo and Cassie!!). Victoria’s mom on the other hand, I wasn’t a fan of, but I’m hoping that she redeems herself in the future books of this series!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Hannah

One minute we were a family of four—then, in the blink of an eye, half of my world was gone.

Nearly two years after I received the phone call that changed my life forever, we’re living in a new town and facing new opportunities.

All I want is to be a strong parent for my son and build a good life. I’m still fighting to figure out how to be okay. Falling for someone? Not in the cards for me. I had my happily ever after.

Until he appears.

One look from the ex-NFL player turned high school football coach brings my soul to life. But the man tests my patience with his arrogance. He knows how to manage his players and his students, but he needs a major ego adjustment.

Every night when my eyes close, I tell myself there’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hamilton, I can’t . . . he’s my son’s new coach.

She’s the last thing that I expected. But I’m drawn to her.

When she stepped onto my field with her long sexy legs, arms covered in tiny geometric tattoos, dark hair and her perfect kissable lips—she stoked a fire inside me. I never dreamed that I’d feel that spark again.

Hannah Richman understands my anguish and emotional turmoil, because she’s been through the same hell.

No matter how much I crave her . . . there’s no way I can have her, it would be inappropriate.

We’re about to redefine that word.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Unbroken Promises, by Nikki Ash

Title: Unbroken Promises
Author: Nikki Ash
Genre: Standalone Friends to Lovers Romance
Release Date: September 27, 2018
Cover Designer: Juliana Cabrera, Jersey Girl Designs
Cover image: Christopher John Photography
Cover models: Taylor Taylor, Lauren Summer, Brock Aaron
When we were kids, we made all kinds of promises. We promised to always be best friends, to always put each other first, and that no matter what, no one would come between us. Little did we know that life had its own plans.
We grew up and reality set in. We realized that not all love lasts forever, and some promises are meant to be broken. It’s ironic that the promises we made as kids, the ones we thought would hold us together, might just be the very thing that could tear us apart.

This book deserves a lot more than 5 stars!! If you buy one books for the rest of the year, let this be it!” — Melissa Schaub

“I was unprepared for the magnitude of this experience. Hands down this is the BEST book Nikki Ash has EVER written. MMF reads seem to be all the rage right now but this one is MORE than that and so beautifully unique. It is SO different, it needs its own category.” — Cali Gals Book Blog

“Wow, just wow! Talk about an emotional roller coaster; I haven’t both laughed and cried over a book in a long time! Do Not Pass Over this book! Even if MMF isn’t your thing, this book has the potential to be a life changer!— Kori Dickens

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

M/F/M thruples aren’t what I usually read, and when I signed up to review Unbroken Promises, I didn’t realize it was a M/F/M story. But I dove in, and Nikki Ash delivered a delicious, haunting, heartbreaking triangle between childhood friends Cole, Xander and Delilah.

There is so much I want to say about this book and the unbroken promises between these three, but it would spoil things for readers! Go in blind, it’s so worth it! Things take a turn that I wasn’t prepared for, but the shock of the twist just makes this story all the more bittersweet! This book runs the gamut of emotions; and I cried, hard.

Delilah is a naturally gorgeous woman. She has beautiful hazel eyes that shine with every emotion. Her body is beyond sexy with a soft yet flat stomach and a round, perfect ass. And her plump, kissable lips leave you wanting to press your mouth to hers over and over again. She’s never paid attention at school, but so many guys over the years have wanted to get between her legs. Cole and I have threatened the shit out of several of those fuckers who’d talk about wanting to take her out, knowing they just wanted to get in her pants.
“You’re just saying that because you’re my best friend.” She rolls her eyes and her fleshy lips turn into a pout. Without thinking, I lean in and press my lips to hers. “You’re beautiful,” I say again. “I’ve thought about us all being together again more times than I can count, but do you understand if we do this, it will change everything?”
“Maybe that’s okay,” she says and turns her head to look at Cole. “None of us are dating anyone, so we aren’t hurting anyone.” She shrugs. “Sex is supposed to be with someone you love, and I love you two, and no matter where life takes us, I know I will always love you both.”
I glance over at Cole and see he’s frozen in thought, so I say what I’m thinking. “I love you too, sweet girl, and if this is what you want, I’m down, as long as we make one promise.”
“What’s that?” Cole asks, finally speaking.
“All of us or none of us.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Chef, by Xavier Neal

The Chef, an all-new standalone Sexy Forbidden Romance from Xavier Neal is AVAILABLE NOW!

Wyatt
My entire existence begins and ends with food.
It gives me purpose.
It gives me peace.
It gives me pleasure.
Or it did before my best friend’s little sister tempted me into taking a taste of the forbidden.
Spoiled me with her flavors.
Slaved my senses.
Now, the only thing I love more than my career as the “Charming Chef” is the one woman I know I’m not supposed to want.
Julez
After being ripped from everything I knew and everyone I loved, I realized just how truly short life can be.
How people don’t take enough risks.
How people don’t treat life like an adventure.
How people hide who they are.
While I’ve learned to embrace what most people fear, I’ve also taught myself the art of keeping others at a safe distance.
Yet, one secret moment with my brother’s best friend, and all I want is for him to come closer.
To touch me.
To take me.
To love me…
I know the danger that comes with getting attached to someone, but I’d rather die happy than live forever without him.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Super sexy forbidden love story between chef Wyatt and Julez, the little sister he never knew his best friend Paxton had. The book opens with a SIZZLING encounter in a closet during Paxton’s engagement party, with neither Julez or Wyatt knowing who the other was. And the story just got hotter from there as they try to fight their attraction… and fail miserably.

So there is “the incident” from her past that has Pax being waaaaay overprotective of his sister. I felt that he was a bit over the top, but that watchdog attitude of his was also needed to set up the conflict/forbidden relationship with Julez and Wyatt.

I’d read The Substitute, but missed the other books in The Bros series. The Chef is a standalone, but there are few plot points that I was confused about since I missed two books in the middle. But overall, this was a clever and sexy story. Julez really comes into her own, and Wyatt is such a devoted boyfriend! Swoon!
