Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Heartthrob, by Robin Bielman

Heartthrob - BT Banner.jpg

He likes a challenge…

Heartthrob, an all-new sexy and hilarious standalone from USA Today bestselling author Robin Bielman, is available now!

heartthrob-MEDIUM

Here’s the deal: I’m the best center fielder in the major leagues. I’m also the guy who cost his team the championship game and acted very unsportsmanlike. So, when the team hires a social media manager to repair the damage to my reputation, I don’t argue. But then I meet Chloe Conrad, and I suddenly understand what people mean when they say they have an instant connection to someone. Which means I’m in serious trouble. Chloe’s a smart, sexy distraction I can’t afford, but one date can’t hurt, right? Only she turns me down. And just like that, it’s game on.

She’s sworn off love…

Finn Auprince is the hottest player in the major leagues. Look up “It Factor” in the dictionary and there’s his handsome face. He’s also my biggest client and I don’t care how easy it is to talk to him or how fun it is to manage his social media accounts, I will not give in to his charms. Then one drunken night, I tell him about my curse: all my previous boyfriends have found their soul mates while dating me. One more heartbreak, and I’ll never recover. But Finn doesn’t believe in curses—he believes in me. Professionally and personally. He sets out to prove the universe isn’t against me, and that his one true love isn’t waiting around the next corner.

The problem is…can we play the game of love and both come out on top?

Excerpt:

“Smooth,”I say with a shake of my head. He no doubt compliments every woman he meets. “But overused.” I put out my palm. “Hand over your phone. I’ll take the picture.”

He looks like he’s ready to yank the sling off his arm and throw it across the parking lot, but instead he gives in to my request. I put the card down on the hood of my car and snap the photo. After checking to make sure it’s a clear shot, I say, “Would you mind letting me know the cost of fixing your car before we go through insurance companies? I may pay out of pocket.”I hate the idea of depleting my savings account, but it might be the better option in the long run.

“Sure.” His fingers brush mine when I give him his phone back, and a surge of heat charges up my arm. Our eyes lock. Hold. “I should also get your digits then—” he glances down at the photo “—Chloe Conrad.”

His saying my name shouldn’t make me weak in the knees, but it does. We’re no longer strangers, not that he’ll remember me or give me any thought beyond fixing his car.

I snag the phone back and type in my number. Then I call myself. My phone rings from the car. “Now I’ve got your number, too.” I never answer my phone if I don’t know who’s calling.

“Would you like a name to go along with it?”

“That’s okay.” I hand back the phone.

His blue eyes dance. “You already know it.”

“Why would I know it? Are you famous or something?” I turn to go before he can see the truth on my face. “I’ll wait to hear from you and uh, sorry about hitting you. I don’t think I said that.”

“No worries.”

I wish. Life isn’t exactly going to plan at the moment. At least my next job assignment should be easy. My boss said it was a perfect fit and I’d get the details on Monday.

“Oh, and Chloe?”

I pause before sliding into my car and look at Finn.

“Nice try.” He tips his head toward my front bumper and winks. Actually winks! Normally I find winking cheesy, but not when Finn does it. His wink is like a calling card for let’s get naked and run our hands and mouths all over each other.

Then it hits me. My license plate frame. It says Baseball…The Perfect Game. Shit. Can’t a girl catch a single break?

“See you around, Webster.”

No, he won’t. Not if I can help it.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Heartthrob was all kinds of swoony, flirty, fun! I fell in love with Finn and Chloe from the moment of their meet-cute, when she hit him with her car.

Poor Chloe is convinced she’s romantically cursed. Every guy she meets falls in love with The One while dating her. While dating her! So when she’s paired up to manage baseball star Finn’s social media accounts and starts falling for the sexy injured player, she tries her hardest to protect her heart. But the more time she spends with Finn, the more she falls for him.

Meanwhile, Finn has his own battle. Baseball is his life, and while Chloe is a distraction during the off-season, he is determined to heal from his injury and be back at the top of his game. But life has other plans for both of them, and this is a swoony and heartfelt story as they figure out the ups and downs of their relationship and what it means to them to be together.

These characters were a delight. This book is all sorts of sweet and sexy, funny and flirty, and has an adorable puppy to boot! Robin Bielman has a great new series on her hands with the American Royalty series! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the other Auprince brothers! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blurb:
It started as a simple search for a landscape designer…

I wanted a beautiful backyard for my new home and my neighbors suggested I look into Ward Landscaping & Design.

The owner had no pictures of himself on his website, just a portfolio of nice outdoor sitting areas, pools, and vibrant gardens that I’d always dreamed of having.

Of course I hired him.

I expected to meet an average guy, but Mr. Marcel Ward is far from your average man. He’s handsome, and well-built, and his smile—though a rare trait—is truly infectious.
He’s every woman’s dream—a handsome, older man who doesn’t mind getting down and dirty to create something beautiful all because of his passion for it.

Unfortunately that lucky woman can’t be me.
Although Mr. Ward tests my limits, quickens my breath, and makes my heart skip a beat when he’s around, I’ve promised to devote myself to my husband.

So why am I falling for a man I know I can’t have?

What can you expect?

– An Alpha Hero (who is a bit of an asshole 😉 )
– Super Steamy Scenes
– An Adorable Beagle Puppy
– SOOO MUCH ANGST

Excerpt:
“Let me know if you need anything, Marcel.”

“Sure will, Gabby.”

I grab the door handle, but not without noticing the smirk on his face.

When I close the doors, I can’t help sneaking a peek as I put my tea back in the fridge. Mr. Ward—Marcel—is standing with a shovel in hand. He stabs it into the ground, leaving it standing upright, and then he crosses one arm over the other, reaches down for the hem of his shirt, and pulls it up, right over his head.

With the sun beaming directly on him, of course he stands out. His tan skin is unmarked minus one long scar right below his right rib. He’s sculpted but not bulky, almost like he does just as much cardio as lifting to get his lean, toned appearance. His abs lead down to a sharp vee that disappears beneath his belt buckle and jeans. A few hairs jump out from beneath the buckle as he grabs the handle of the shovel.

As he snatches the shovel out, he pauses midway. My eyes travel up to find his, and it’s then I realize I’ve been staring. He narrows his eyes a bit, but a smug smile lightly tugs at the corners of his lips.

“Oh, shit!”

I back away, bumping into the nearest counter edge. When I hear one of the men yell something, I look again, glad Marcel has moved away from the windows of the doors to tend to the person. I hurry back upstairs, and this time I don’t look back, even though a small part of me is dying to see those abs one more time.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

This book is intense! It’s a slow burn, and all kinds of forbidden. If there was ever a guilty pleasure, it’s The Man I Can’t Have. It will captivate you, leave you breathless, and wanting more. It’s a wonderfully written friends-to-lovers story. It had me so enthralled, that I didn’t even mind the cheating. I’m generally not a fan, but I was so taken by Gabby and Marcel’s story.

Things are not always as they appear!

And this story will end on a massive cliffhanger that is throwing-the-kindle worthy!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

In Other Words is an enjoyable secret crush/best friend’s romance inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac.

Dex and Clair have been best friends for years, and secretly in love with one another. She liked him log before nerdy Dex became a hot nerd. But neither of them ever acted on their feelings, and they have no idea the other feels the same way. Just when Clair is about to tell him how she really feels, Dex introduces her to his buddy and business partner, Cole. The pro baller sweeps Clair off her feet and it looks like she’s gotten her happily ever after with someone else.

Except she hasn’t. Clair never feels for Cole what she feels for Dex, as charming as he is and despite that he’s the perfect boyfriend. As it turns out, Cole has had some help in wooing Clair, with Dex literally whispering in his ear.

Everything changes between them when Dex finally tells Clair how he feels, just so he can move on. She can’t believe that he feels the same, and it prompts a breakup with Cole. But that’s not even the worst of it, because learning how Dex betrayed her may derail their relationship before it gets started.

These were likable characters, a cute storyline and a wonderful HEA foe the real couple. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

BRED

A coming-of-age romance inspired by Great Expectations

By Ginger Scott

My life was irrevocably changed the moment I stepped foot inside Elena Alderman’s grand front doors. A lifeless tomb on the edge of Chicago’s South Side, the Alderman home sat in one of the city’s oldest and wealthiest neighborhoods, and Elena Alderman was the queen.

She was also mad.

Not the kind of madness that’s readily apparent. No, her psychopathy was far more surgical—more…insidious. She was surrounded by beautiful things—most notably her grand piano and her adopted son, Henry.

I fell in love with both.

My gift blossomed when my fingers touched her black and white keys. But my life began when I became haunted by the boy. Henry Alderman was a handsome blend of arrogance and seduction, and as we grew up together, I found it more and more impossible to separate him from my thoughts. I envied his life. I imagined how my name—Lily—would look with his. I became his closest friend…and more. I gave him my kiss, locked away his secrets, and loved him even when it was hard to.But we were just a game. Elena Alderman made the rules. And when she decided to change them, she broke everything.

Almost.

Excerpt from BRED By Ginger Scott

A coming-of-age love story inspired by Great Expectations

(Copyright Ginger Scott, 2019)“You know this stuff…” he starts, but I interrupt with an emphatic shake of my head. When his fingers splay out over my back I freeze. I follow the path my book takes back to the place it started in front of me as Henry slides it in place, flipping open to the chapter I’m trying to memorize. Knelt down next to me, he leans closer, resting his right arm next to my left one—we are touching.

I swallow. I’m going to fail. I cannot memorize something like the varied historical degrees of differences between a Protestant hell and a Lutheran one while the master of all hotness is sharing a desktop with me. My arm hairs are literally electric, standing up and reaching to plant themselves in his skin. I’ve gone completely primal—my body convinced that I am the gatherer in need of this hunter.

“Look,” he says, leaning in even closer and reaching to flip the pages. I barely register the movement of his thumb under a bold section of words. When his eyes catch mine still stuck on his face, I jump in my seat a little.

“Sorry,” I say, clearing my throat. “I’m just overwhelmed. Maybe a little slow, too, from being in here so long.”

It’s partly true, but I’m also just crushing. Crushing—that’s what Nicki calls it. She rolls her eyes every time she catches me doing it too, then labels it with that word. I crush in the dining area. I crush between classes when Henry pokes my arm with his index finger as we pass in the halls. I crush when I watch him sprint across the lawn every day at three in the afternoon, late for rowing. It’s literally become how I know it’s three o’clock! My body just instinctually glides toward my window at exactly 2:59. Pathetic!

At this point, we should just say that I’m crushed rather than crushing. Crushed and utterly destroyed of all pride.

I am gatherer.
“What you need to do is make up a rhyme. Something that will help you keep all of the key words in your brain so when it comes time to write them down in order, you’ll have them there.”

I draw in my lips and let the acid climb up my throat.

“I don’t even understand that. Ugg, I’m hopeless,” I say, letting my head fall flat against the book. I bounce my forehead there lightly while I eke out a desperate laugh at my own expense.

“You aren’t hopeless.” I feel the warm breath from his chuckle and smell the mint of his gum, and it’s intoxicating enough without his touch, so when the warm hand slides the hair from my cheek I go full hypnosis. His fingers trace my jaw, and my head lifts from the light pressure of his hold. For a moment, I believe in myself just because of the look in his eyes when our stares meet. He’s dead serious—and God, the way he’s looking at me, hair all tousled, smile soft and true, cheeks lifted as if they’re glad to see me.

Like a drunk, I lean closer, my lips parting and ready—my mind imagining everything I’m about to feel—Henry’s mouth on mine, the graze of teeth against my lips, us standing as his arms sweep around my back before his hands rush up my spine into my own messy hair.

None of that happens.

I get an inch away from his mouth, my eyelids fluttering with nerves and uncertainty whether they should close or remain open, and Henry turns a few inches to his left, stiffening and backing away just enough to keep me from making this worse—as if I can make this worse somehow. The rush of heat that coats me isn’t from passion—it’s from humiliation. My eyes remain open just long enough to see the movement in his neck as he clears his throat. His soft smile is replaced with a hard line, drawn under the pity that slants his eyes.

I think I understand hell a little better now. It helps that I’m in it.

“I’m just tired. I…” Why I try to speak, I don’t know.

“It’s fine.” His voice is laced with discomfort. In one blink I erased everything that was easy between us. All because of my damn fantasies.

Fine. That word—so short, so four-lettered. Such a lie. I ruined everything.

New Release: Sunny Shelly Reviews Unattainable, by Jamie Schlosser

Title: Unattainable
Series: Night Time Television
Author: Jamie Schlosser
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: May 9, 2019

The last person I expected to see on this tropical island is my ex. Although, since I never actually broke up with her, isn’t she technically still my girlfriend?

Yeah, I’ve got some explaining to do. And groveling. Probably some begging, too. Good thing we’re stuck at this resort together for the next three weeks.

Corrine Harper is the only girl I’ve ever wanted, and I won’t let her slip through my fingers again. They call me Aiden the unattainable. Consider me attained.

“Laugh out loud funny moments, sweet, heart-wrenching words, and some drama to keep things interesting, this is a 5 star summer read!” – Author Melanie Moreland

“OH THANK THE BOOK GODS, UNATTAINABLE WAS DELIGHTFULLY ADORABLE, OUTRAGEOUSLY FUNNY AND BEAUTIFULLY SWEET!” – Marie’s Tempting Reads

“This book was a perfect little mix of everything. Real life problems, love, steamy times, and finding your own way in this world.” – Cranky – The Book Curmudgeon
“Why are you so hellbent on denying that we kissed?” he interrupted heatedly, splashing water to the side.

Some of the droplets sprayed my neck and chin, and I let out a gasp of outrage.

“Because!” It was my turn to slap the water, making sure some of it hit Aiden’s chest.

“Because why?” He splashed me again. Definitely on purpose this time. “Our lips touched. That’s a real kiss.”

Shoving my hands forward with all the force I could muster, I caused a wave to arc straight to Aiden’s face. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to hold in my smile when he sputtered and scrubbed his eyes.

“It was my first kiss,” I said, once he could see me again.

“Mine, too.”

I wanted to scream that it was my only kiss, but that would’ve been giving him too much power. “It’s the one that’s supposed to be important and magical. The one that’s supposed to be longer than a millisecond. It’s not your fault that it didn’t last longer, but I feel cheated—”

Without warning, Aiden lunged forward. For a second, I thought he was starting the splash war again, but instead of water, I was assaulted by a slab of hard muscle.

Backing me against the wall, he smashed his lips to mine.

Surprised, I gasped as a lifetime of pent-up passion overflowed in the form of a hard press of his mouth.

Now this… this was a kiss.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

When I read Theo’s story, Untrainable, I was really hoping that his brother, Aiden, would get a book. And Unattainable was un-put-downable!

Aiden and Corrie’s story is a sweet, second-chance romance with a forbidden twist: she’s a music producer on his reality show and fraternization is a big no-no. That doesn’t stop Aiden from trying to win back the heart of his high school crush, the only girl he’s ever kissed. But considering that Aiden sort of never broke things off before he disappeared on her two years ago, will Corrie give him another chance?

Aiden’s depression after his parents died plays into the story nicely, as does Corrie’s myriad phobias. They heal one another; he’s her safe place and she’s his happy place. I really loved that they were both virgins — but there are some super steamy moments. And some hysterical ones, too. The whole condom-on-the-forehead thing made me bust out laughing!

There is zero OW/OM drama, just a lovely story of Aiden and Corrie finding their way as a couple. There are some moments where she feels too ordinary against his celebrity lifestyle, but he quickly puts a stop to that.

Overall, this was just a sweet, lovely story. And it was great to catch up with Hadley and Theo, too. I’m so glad the brothers patched up their relationship and made their own family. You don’t need to read Untrainable first, but there is backstory to the brothers that you will understand much better if you do. Plus, that book is pretty damn great on its own, so you should!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

New Release: Sunny Shelly Reviews Marriage For One, by Ella Maise

Release blitz banner-2.jpg

Marriage for One, an all new contemporary romance by Ella Maise, is Live!

Marriage For One.jpg

Note to My Past Self : Do NOT get married to the handsome stranger.

Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office-which was also the first day we met-he proposed. You’d think a guy who looked like him-a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable-would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You’d think he must be madly in love.

Nope. It was me he asked. A complete stranger who had never even heard of him. A stranger who had been dumped by her fiancé only weeks before. You’d think I’d laugh in his face, call him insane-and a few other names-then walk away as quickly as possible. Well…I did all those things except the walking away part.

It took him only minutes to talk me into a business deal…erm, I mean marriage, and only days for us to officially tie the knot. Happiest day of my life. Magical. Pop the champagne… Not. It was the worst day. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I’d imagined for myself.

I blamed him for my lapse in judgment. I blamed his eyes, the ocean blue eyes that looked straight into mine unapologetically, and that frown on his face I had no idea I would become so fascinated with in time.

It wasn’t long after he said I was the biggest mistake of his life that things started to change. No, he still didn’t talk much, but anyone can string a few words together. His actions spoke the loudest to me. And day after day my heart started to get a mind of its own.

One second he was no one. The next he became everything.

One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine.

One second I thought we were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie.

After all, I was Rose and he was Jack. We were doomed from the very beginning with those names. Did you expect anything else?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I have mixed feelings about Marriage For One. I really enjoyed Jack and Rose’s story, how they went from strangers to being hopelessly in love. Their marriage starts out as a business arrangement, but by the end of the book, she has drawn him out of his shell, and he completely adores her.

On the other hand… once Jack’s secret comes to light, I was kind of creeped out by his arrogance. The way he manipulated the situation didn’t really sit well with me, and I felt a little empty by the time I was done reading the book. Which was a shame, because I really enjoyed his growth over the course of the book. He was so sweet with Rose, especially during all that happens with her hospitalization. But…. yeah, playing God? I wasn’t a fan of that plot twist.

In any event, Marriage For One is entertaining marriage-pact, strangers/enemies-to-lovers romance, with lots of sweet moments and a rude alpha. If that floats your boat, give it a shot! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

“Please face each other,” the officiant said, and I followed his instructions like a robot. Feeling numb, I let Jack reach for my other hand, and when his fingers gave mine a tiny squeeze, this time I met his questioning eyes. I swallowed, tried to ignore the little jump my heart gave and offered him a small smile. He was truly striking in a cold, calculating sort of way. I’d be lying if I said my heart hadn’t given a small jump the first time I’d laid eyes on him. Completely involuntarily. He had the strong-and-silent thing down pat. His equally striking blue eyes dipped to my lips and then came back to my eyes. When I felt him slowly push a ring onto my finger, I looked down and saw a beautiful wedding band with a half-circle of round diamonds staring back at me. Surprised, I looked up to meet his eyes, but his attention was on my finger as he gently rolled the ring back and forth with his thumb and index finger. The sensation was as alien as it could get.

“It’s okay,” I whispered when he didn’t stop playing with it. “It’s a little big, but it’s okay.”

He let go of my hand and the ring then looked at me. “I’ll take care of it.”

“There is no need to do that. This is fine.”

I didn’t know if Jack Hawthorne ever smiled. So far—the three whole times I’d seen him—I hadn’t been a witness to it, at least not a genuine smile, but I would have assumed if he was marrying someone he was in love with instead of me, there would at least be a small playful grin on his lips. He didn’t look like the grinning type, but surely there would be a hint of it. Unfortunately, neither one of us was the picture of a happy newlywed couple.

I reached for his hand to put on his wedding band, but call it nerves, clumsiness, or a sign, if you will—before I could even touch his hand, the cheap, thin ring slipped from my shaky fingers and I watched it fly away from me in slow motion. After the surprisingly loud clinking sound it made when it hit the floor, I ran after it, apologizing to no one in particular, and had to drop to my knees so I could save it before it rolled under the ugly orange couch. Although the light blue dress I had chosen to wear was by no means short, I still had to put one of my hands on my butt to cover myself so I wouldn’t flash everyone as I caught the damn thing before I had to crawl on my knees.

“I got it! I got it!” I yelled a little too enthusiastically over my shoulder, holding the ring up as if I had won a trophy. When I saw the unimpressed expressions around me, I felt my cheeks turn a bright shade of red. I dropped my arm, closed my eyes, and released a very long sigh. When I turned around on my knees, I noticed that my ringless, almost husband had made it to my side, already offering his hand to pull me up. After I got back on my feet with his help, I dusted off my dress. Looking up to his face, I belatedly noticed how stiffly he was holding himself—jaw clenched, the muscle tick definitely back.

Had I done something wrong?

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, thoroughly embarrassed, and got a curt nod in response.

The officiant cleared his throat and gave us a small smile. “Shall we continue?”

Before he could drag me back, I discreetly leaned toward my soon-to-be-maybe husband and whispered, “Look, I’m not sure about…you look…” I paused and released another long breath before gathering enough courage to look straight into his eyes. “We don’t have to do this if you’ve changed your mind. Are you sure? And I mean really, really sure you want to go through with this?”

His eyes searched mine as we ignored the other people in the room, and my heart rate picked up as I waited for his answer. As much as I was reluctant to do this, if he’d changed his mind, I’d be screwed six ways to Sunday and we both knew that.

“Let’s get this over with,” he said eventually.

That was all I got.

Lovely.

About Ella:

I’m a big dreamer. And that’s how it all started for me, really. Reading and dreaming. I love nothing more than to escape real life to find those very few magical moments in a book. I love how it has the power of stealing your worries away, putting a smile on your face even when smiling is the last thing on your mind. Crushing on fictional characters is also another bonus. Through my words, if I can manage to make even one-person smile, it means I’ve done my job well.

Writing became my world and I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than creating new characters and telling their stories. You know how some things simply makes your heart burst with happiness? A really good book, a puppy, hugging someone you’ve been missing like crazy? That’s what writing does to me. And all the hard work, all the sleepless nights, all the anxiety that comes with publishing…everything is worth it at the end.

Book Blitz: Sunny Shelly Reviews Then Came You, by Kate Meader

Then Came You
Kate Meader
(Laws of Attraction #3)
Published by: Loveswept
Publication date: May 7th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

In the courtroom, they’re rivals. In the bedroom, they’re . . . divorced. But could the road trip from hell lead to a second chance at love?

“I love Kate Meader’s books!”—Kelly Jamieson

Aubrey Gates is the hottest divorce lawyer in Chicago, a barb-tongued stiletto with legs that go on for miles. When her cool gray eyes meet mine across the battlefield, I want her like I’ve never wanted anyone or anything. Then I remember who she is: the woman who brought me to my knees. The woman who destroyed my faith in relationships.

The woman I used to call . . . wife.

And she needs a favor from me, Grant Lincoln.

It seems my ex forgot to mention the demise of our marriage to her dear old grammy, and now we’re both expected to attend her ninetieth birthday party. In Boston. And because it isn’t already awkward enough, Aubrey and I are driving there together from Chicago. That’s more than a thousand miles of tension, heartbreak, and barely concealed lust.

A little piece of paper might say we’re over, but this road trip is the true test. I intend to get my wife back . . . and I won’t stop until “I do.”

Kate Meader’s super-sexy Laws of Attraction novels can be read together or separately:

DOWN WITH LOVE • ILLEGALLY YOURS • THEN CAME YOU

EXCERPT:

“Ms. Gates.”

Damn, the man himself has to appear and ruin a perfectly fine fantasy. He looks like the Terminator in Tom Ford. I can assure you that he didn’t dress so well before I met him. He didn’t even use chopsticks.

“Mr. Lincoln.”

“Oh, hold up, please!” Just before the elevator doors close, Serena Gleason, one of my colleagues at Kendall, joins us inside. She flashes a grin. “Aubrey, heard you got your ass handed to you by—Grant! Didn’t see you there.” Unlikely, given that the man is about as impossible to miss as a redwood.

“Serena, how you doin’?” Grant’s syrup drenches the entire car and he leans in to buss her cheek. “A little birdie told me some lucky guy’s scooped you right up. Congratulations.”

Serena flashes her hand, showing off a rock the size of a planet. She’s marrying her hunky personal trainer. “Thanks, he is lucky.” Sighing for a couple of seconds at the sight of her ring, she raises her gaze and frowns at me. “What happened to your arm?”

“Nothing.”

“Doesn’t look like nothing.”

“She won’t say,” Grant offers. “I’m thinking maybe a tryout for the Hawks.”

My eye roll is epic.

“Oh, there’s a story here.” Serena narrows her eyes in suspicion. I’ll be a source of gossip, visits from senior partners, and hopefully a tray of cupcakes by five.

The elevator reaches the lobby—finally—and we all step out and stand around awkwardly like we need to discuss our next moves. Sushi or Italian, friends?

Serena divides a look between the two of us. “Should I play referee? Or maybe something else?”

I shut that nonsense down immediately. “I’ll walk back to the office with you, Rena.”

“Got a minute, Bean?”

Again, with that Bean business. I can’t. Not now.

Serena mouths “Bean” at me. I want to thump her and stuff that rock on her finger in an uncomfortable place.

Instead, I say sweetly, “No—I need to get back. I’ve got a client’s financials to investigate, remember?”

“Been thinkin’ on your dilemma,” Grant says, his voice ridiculously lazy and sexy.

“My dilemma?”

“Thanksgiving, traveling with the beast, heading into the Lion’s Den.”

I shoot a look of not here at him, but Serena has already sniffed blood. “The Lion’s Den? Color me intrigued!”

He looks amused. “Think you’d prefer we discuss this in private.”

“Discuss what? How you tried to bypass discovery in Judge Jamieson’s court like a first year associate?”

“Nah. Me driving you to Boston for Thanksgiving so you can pretend to your grandmother that we’re still married.”

I gasp, which sets off a chain of unfortunate events. Slightly panicked, I move closer to Grant instead of farther away, inhale how good he smells, become light-headed with the pleasure of it, then step back. I look like a dancing fool and Serena definitely notices, her eyes going wide with wonder at my smoothness.

“Rena, I’ll catch you later.”

“Yeah, you will, girl.” Serena toddles off to get the rumor mill grinding at the office.

I shoot stabby eyes at Grant. “Nice going, idiot.”

“No problem. Let’s get coffee in the food court. Won’t take long to sort out the details.”

What details? This isn’t happening. Yet I turn, trancelike, toward the escalator.

I know he’s watching my ass with those dark blue eyes of his. I’m not much taller than five four and I need heels to strike fear and envy. But I’ve always had a very well-proportioned behind that looks good in pencil skirts and Grant has always been an ass-man.

Like the recent reawakening of my long-dormant sexuality, the sway of my hips as I walk ahead of my ex-husband fills me with power. I know it’s ridiculous to feel this way because of a male gaze, but I can’t help it. It’s his gaze that fuels me.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

My favorite second-chance romances are when it’s between a divorced couple, as they try to fix what went wrong in their relationship and find their way back to one another. Grant and Aubrey had a long journey ahead of them, but what starts out as a reluctant road trip (on her part, anyway), turns into a mess of emotions and ultimately a lot of healing and a wonderful reconciliation.

Despite their divorce, Grant and Aubrey still love one another very much. But rather than leaning on one another during one of the most trying times in a couple’s life, they drifted apart. The fundamental differences in their backgrounds/family totally helped in how they approached the aftereffects of their miscarriage, and Kate Meader did a great job of painting a picture of a couple suffering a pregnancy loss.

Have some tissues on hand, because if you are emotional like me — and this subject matter is a trigger of mine, having been through a pregnancy loss myself — you will need them! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

“We should kiss, just get it out of the way and move on,” I say, sure of the crazy idea as each second passes.

There’s a hitch in Z’s breath, and his eyes go straight to my lips. “Works for me.”

“But just one. None of that fancy tongue work.”

“Afraid of falling in love with me?” He grins.

Well. My eyes take in the broad shoulders and the dragon tattoo on his muscled chest. He’s definitely my type: pure, grade A male hotness—exactly what I don’t need. “I won’t fall in love.”

Another grin. “Liar.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The Boyfriend Bargain is a swoony, angst-filled college hockey romance. Zack is the campus hockey god, who goes through a girl a month, headed to Nashville to play with the pros. Sugar needs a pretend beau to make her look better in the eyes of Vanderbilt Law School, and decides Z is the guy. The two decide to make a bargain: He’ll pose as her boyfriend, but she needs to be his girl of the month, so he can focus on hockey and not the jersey chasers who want his attention. Even though their romance has an end date, feelings develop, and things get all kinds of complicated.

Zack has a major secret. It torments him, and he struggles with the guilt every day. My heart broke for Zack. He’s so guilt-stricken, and can’t move past the actions of his past. That played nicely against Sugar’s feelings of never being enough, stemming from her wealthy father abandoning her. And once she finds out what Z’s secret is, their relationship implodes.

As good as I thought this story was, I found Z’s secret to be rather creepy. He should have told her earlier! Obviously they work things out, because the book ends with a romantic HEA epilogue. But his lie of omission kept me from really loving this as a 5-Star read.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews No Feelings Involved, by Siobhan Davis

NFI - BT banner.jpg

Can this skeptical player let down his guard long enough to let love into his life, or is this forbidden romance a train wreck in the making?

No Feelings Involved, an all-new brother’s best friend standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis is available now!

No Feelings Involved Ebook final cover.jpg

Ryan James doesn’t believe in love.

It’s a truth he learned early in life. A truth he carried with him into adulthood. He broke his golden rule one time, but Myndi trampled all over his heart, cementing his belief that love is a lie and not worth the effort.

Now he’s returned to his cynical views and promiscuous lifestyle, racking up more notches on his bedpost than he can count.

Until Summer Petersen comes crashing into his world, threatening to knock down his walls with her tempting body and sunny, sweet personality.

Summer is determined to lose her V-card before she starts freshman year of college, and the hot, older guy with the cute dimples, dazzling smile, and rippling biceps is just the man for the job. Ryan doesn’t take much persuading, and he rocks her world, giving her a night to remember.

When they walk away, there’s an unspoken agreement it was a one-time thing. Ryan doesn’t do feelings, and Summer doesn’t want to be tied down at eighteen.

But when she moves into her brother Austin’s apartment, she’s shocked to discover her new roomie is the guy who recently popped her cherry.

Ryan can’t believe he slept with Austin’s baby sister, and if he finds out, he’ll literally kill him. Keeping their hook up a secret is nonnegotiable. Keeping his thoughts, and his hands, off Summer, less so. Because the longer he’s around her, the more he finds himself catching feelings for the gorgeous brunette.

Summer doesn’t want to care for her older brother’s best friend, but Ryan makes her feel things she’s never felt before, and she’s slowly falling under his spell.

Embarking on an illicit affair behind Austin’s back has train wreck written all over it, but provided they keep their feelings in check, they can end this before he ever finds out.

It’s not like either of them is in love.

Right?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

When I read When Forever Changes, I was DYING to know what the story was between Ryan and his sister’s best friend, Myndi. I was really hoping that those two would get a story of their own, a second-chance romance. But now, having read No Feelings Involved, I think that Summer was the perfect match for Ryan!

No Feelings Involved is a standalone, but we met the hero, Ryan, in another Siobhan Davis book, When Forever Changes. This story is set a few years later: Ryan, still feeling the effects of his breakup with Myndi, is a 26 year old guy, playing the field, going from girl to girl. He has a one-night stand with a young woman he meets in a club, and she left a lasting impression on him. And not just before she had set-out that night to lose her V-card. He didn’t even know her name. Needless to say, Ryan is shocked when the little sister of his roommate/business partner, Austin, moves into their place a month later and it’s the girl from the club!

As hard as Summer and Ryan try, they can’t deny the chemistry between them. He’s too old for her, she’s too inexperienced, he’s her brother’s business partner, she’s just in college…. but all of the excuses fall flat because they just can’t stay away from one another. They agree to being friends with benefits, which suits them both for a while — he doesn’t do relationships, and she’s a college freshman looking for no-strings-attached. But their relationship will get all kinds of messy when they can’t prevent their feelings from getting involved.

The heat between Summer and Ryan sizzled. I really liked how SD wove in the reactions of not only Austin but Summer’s other brothers, as well as Ryan’s sister, Gabby, and her husband Slater. (And I loved getting an update on their life!) It was interesting to me to see Ryan on the other side of the dating-my-best-friend’s-sister, having been the big brother in Slater/Gabby’s relationship. The tension that it caused for all parties involved was awesome, and I really felt Ryan’s misery in the weeks after he split with Summer.

There is a potential trigger in Ryan and Summer’s story concerning her accidental pregnancy. So reader beware. It was not mentioned in the blurb, and it’s a trigger of mine, so I was a bit blindsided. Despite that, No Feelings Involved is another fantastic romance from Siobhan Davis! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

I’m munching my way through the bowl of popcorn when Summer and the cute little guy return. “I’m Iron Man!” he proclaims in a gruff voice, puffing out his chest behind his costume and bounding into the room, displaying impressive arrogance like a true mini Tony Stark.

“And I’m Black Widow,” Summer announces, in an assertive tone, striding into the room behind him in a figure-hugging black jumpsuit, holding two toy swords in her hands. She stands confidently beside my nephew, the two of them projecting superhero status, and I can’t contain my laughter.

“You dare to laugh at me?” She quirks a brow. When Billy flips up his Iron Man mask, exchanging a devilish look with Summer, I’m on instant alert.

“What’s going on?” I question with clear caution in my tone.

“Billy and I made a new rule,” Summer says, winking at my nephew as a wicked smile graces her mouth. “You can only watch the movie if you’re wearing a costume.” She throws something at me. “You’re up, champ. Go get dressed.”

I inspect the flimsy red and blue silky material with trepidation, my mouth curling in disgust. “Oh, hell to the no.”

“That’s a bad word, Uncle Ryan,” Billy says, wagging his finger at me. “Now be Spiderman, or I’ll tell Mom you were cussing again.”

The little blackmailing shit.

Still, I can’t keep the smile off my face. There isn’t much I won’t do for my nephew, it seems, as I saunter out of the room with the offending costume in hand, subtly spanking Summer on the ass as I pass by her.

“What the actual fuck?” I question out loud to myself a few minutes later, all tangled up in the too-tight costume. How the fuck does Slate fit into this thing? I tug on the material, trying to stretch it out so it reaches my wrists and my ankles and isn’t molded to my dick like a tight layer of foreskin. That’s assuming it’s Slater’s because right now I’m questioning if this suit is even adult sized.

Little beads of sweat dot my brow as I finally get the damn thing on. I look in the mirror, laughing at the state of myself squeezed into the minuscule costume, deciding that Summer owes me at least a blow job for this.

The instant I step foot in the living room, shouting “I am Spiderman,” because hey, when in Rome and all that shit, the room erupts in an explosion of laughter, and you’d swear there were twenty people in the room not two. Or one point five if you consider Billy’s still a kid.

Summer drops to her knees, tears pouring out of her eyes, and she can’t stop laughing long enough to speak. Billy is running around the room, giggling and squealing.

“Hey, it was your great idea,” I say, strolling over to the couch and plopping down on it. The material scrunches up at my thighs, almost giving me a wedgie, and I squirm on the couch trying to get comfortable. Summer shrieks, almost convulsing with laughter, before jumping up and dashing out of the room. “Was it something I said?” I joke with Billy, and he giggles, snuggling up on the couch with me and snatching the popcorn.

I’m still cursing the damn costume a couple minutes later when Summer returns wearing a Wonder Woman outfit this time. If I thought the crotch of my Spiderman costume was tight before, it’s nothing on how strained it is now I’m sporting the biggest boner known to man. Discreetly, I pull the throw off the back of the couch, covering my nether regions before Billy notices the giant bulge in my tighter than tight pants.

“Are you trying to kill me, woman?” I ask as Summer flops down on the other side of me. “Death by giant erection,” I whisper in her ear, and she splutters, holding up a hand, trying to compose herself long enough to speak.

“Stop!” She titters, clutching her stomach as if she’s in pain. “I’ve already had to change once because I peed my pants.”

I just stare at her, and she cracks up in laughter again. “You seriously peed your pants?” I inquire, fighting a bout of laughter myself.

She punches me in the arm, but it’s a feeble effort, and I barely feel a twinge. “It’s your fault.” She looks over me, snorting with laughter. “How the hell did you even get that thing on?”

“It wasn’t without challenge, trust me.” I wink at her, and she rests her head on my shoulder, her light laughter warming my insides.

“You look totally fuckable in that costume,” I whisper in her ear. “I want you to wear it later when you’re riding me.”

“Do you think that’s why Gabby and Slater have so many costumes upstairs? Do they play superhero in the bedroom?” she whispers, waggling her brows suggestively as my stomach sours.

My insides shrivel at the thought, and I scowl at her. “Thanks a bunch for that lovely visual of my sister. Now, I have a renewed urge to punch my brother-in-law in the face.” I know Gabby and Slate usually dress up to go trick or treating with Billy at Halloween, and I’m sticking to that story as the most logical explanation.

Because, otherwise, I’m likely to land one on Slate the second he steps foot in the door.

Blurb:
USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn delivers a smart and cheeky romance about love’s power to lift hearts . . . and curses.

It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all . . .

But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!”

Boy, was I wrong.

Word spreads quickly in a town like mine; rumors about that night soon made us the most eligible yet untouchable bachelors in Port Snow, Maine. As a subject of endless gossip and speculation, I could kiss my dating life goodbye.

It would have stayed that way if Ren Winters, the new girl in town, hadn’t crashed into my life. Brave, beautiful, and smart—her vivacious thirst for a fresh start has given me hope that maybe, just maybe, I can have one too.

Everyone wishes for that second chance . . . but could this really be mine?

Excerpt:
I’m counting out our register drawer, trying to stay focused on the numbers whipping through my head, but it’s difficult with Reid’s constant small talk. I jot down another tally mark on the paper in front of me and set aside a stack of bills.

“Hello, are you listening?” Reid asks, sounding annoyed.

“No. I’m counting.”

“Well, I’m talking about you, so you might want to lend me your ear for a second.”

Huffing, I set the cash on the counter, knowing my very persistent brother won’t be quiet until I give him my full attention. “What’s up, Reid?”

Satisfied, he smiles. “You should ask her out.”

“Ask who out?”

“Ren.”

Yeah, that’s not going to happen. “No.”

I go back to counting, but Reid starts snapping his fingers at me. “Hey, I wasn’t finished.” I look back up at him, not even slightly interested in this conversation. “I saw the way she was looking at you today. I think she likes you.”

“You’re confused. She was probably just being nice, since I’m the guy who pulled her out of the window of her car after her accident. And even if she does like me, which I highly doubt, there’s no interest on my end. So that’s the end of that.”

“Bull,” Reid and Jen both say at the same time.

Christ. My two most nagging siblings are ganging up on me. Just what I need when I’m trying to get home and relax.

“Can we not make this into a dissection of my personal life, please? I’m not in the mood, and I want to get this done so I can go home.”

“Griff, she’s pretty, she’s sweet, and she’s smart. She’s new to town and, I’m sure, could use a friend,” Jen says just as the door opens, its bell chiming through the space. Brig pops in, grease all over his shirt and a smirk on his face.

Uh-oh. There’s only one reason why he’d be smirking at me that way.

“What are we talking about?” He rubs his hands together and takes a seat on a barstool near the window. “If it’s about the hot new teacher in town, I want in on this conversation.”

“We’re trying to convince Griff to ask her out.”

Brig slow claps his appreciation. “Novel idea. I think they’re a perfect match.”

“I’m not asking her out,” I huff, giving up on the register and leaning against the wall behind me, arms crossed. There’s no way I’ll be able to concentrate on counting while these three are yapping in my ear.

“Why the hell not? She’s perfect for you,” Brig says, a little insulted at my rejection. “Before you even say no, you should at least get to know her a little. I told her today she could borrow your truck while her car is in the shop.”

I count to five before answering, tamping down my temper. “Why the hell would you do that?” Okay, maybe I didn’t tamp it down enough.

“Uh, because she lives three houses down from you?” Brig rolls his eyes as if I’m the stupid one in this conversation. “She needs some help, so be a knight in shining armor, dude. Help out the damsel in distress and then make out with her on the beach. Maybe cop a feel; get some for once.”

“I’m not doing that,” I answer, going back to the money, letting them know this conversation is over.

“And why not?” Jen asks.

“Because I’m not interested in starting or being in a relationship. I’m happy with how my life is right now, and I don’t need anything complicating it.”

“But she has heart eyes for you,” Brig says like a jackass.

“Don’t worry; there are plenty of Knightly brothers to choose from,” I reply.

“Come on, Griff, how fun can going home to an empty, lonely house really be?” Jen chimes in, concern evident in her voice.

I shift on my feet, my voice terse. “I like my house. It’s fine. I’m fine.”

Silence falls between us, an awkward air moving in like a fast-moving cold front.

“Is this because of New Orleans?” Reid finally asks, taking a seat next to Brig. Both of my brothers fix their gazes on me, waiting for an answer.

Why is this a thing whenever we talk about my love life? Can’t they just let it go? What happened was … hell, I don’t even know how to describe it. All I know is I don’t foresee love in my future.

Claire was the love of my life, and I lost her; in a blink of an eye she was gone. I’m not going through that again. Not ever.

Shaking my head, I turn away from my family. This conversation is over.

And with that, I take the cash to the back office, where I can get some peace and quiet.

Ask Ren Winters out on a date? Not going to happen.

And she’s not going to drive my truck either. I think that’s evident in the fact that she drove her car in between two trees.

Can’t blame a guy there.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Can I move to Port Snow? I want to live there! I want to see Griffin and all his hot brothers and be friends with Ren and Rylee!

There is so much that I loved about this book! Starting with widower Griffin and the fact that he believes he’s cursed to never love. My heart broke for him! He’s so distraught over his wife’s death, and sure that it’s his fault and he doesn’t deserve to be happy.

Then one day, Ren crashes into a tree — literally — and turns his life upside down. For the first time in two years, Griffin feels like he can breathe again, and it’s all thanks to the spunky newcomer who knows nothing of the curse on the brothers. But will Griffin allow himself to love and be loved again?

From the meet-cute to the zany interactions with Griffin’s family, this book was adorable. The dancing in the street was one of the most romantic scenes I think I’ve ever read by Meghan Quinn, and I’ve read a lot by her. And the pond hookup? Good lord! I was unfortunate enough to be reading that exceptionally sexy part during my lunch break at work and had to come back to it to savor the moment later!

That Second Chance is a great start to a new series by one of my one-click authors. I can’t wait to see what Meghan has in store for the rest of the brothers!! And I loved getting a little catch-up with Beck and Rylee from Two Wedding Crashers!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
