Coming Soon: Drunk Dial, by Penelope Ward!

We are excited to bring you the upcoming standalone from New York Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Bestselling author Penelope Ward.

DRUNK DIAL will release on AUGUST 21!

Cover Model: Vadim Ivanov

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.

I didn’t think he’d call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.

Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

A complete STANDALONE.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Fractured Love, by Ella James

EJFracturedLoveBookCover6x9_MEDIUM I was sixteen when he came to our house. Landon Jones, a boy with nothing, from nowhere. He had cinnamon hair and blue eyes—light blue, just like mine. When we went out as a family with my foster brother, people asked if Landon was my twin. He wasn’t. That year, we found out how much he wasn’t. When my parents caught us, they threw Landon out like trash.

Now I’m twenty-nine, a soon-to-be surgeon, like my mom and dad. I know residency is going to kick my ass, but I had no idea that it would rip my heart out, too. Not until I see him—Dr. Jones.

A standalone that is part of the Off-Limits Romance collection.

💔💔💔

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

In every Ella James book I’ve read, she takes the reader on a heartbreaking, emotional roller coaster ride, tearing them up and then putting them back together again by the end of the book. And Fractured Love is no different. It’s an angst-filled story that spans more than a decade, starting when Evie and Landon fall in love as teenagers when he is being fostered by her family, and picking up again 10 years later when they are both residents at the same hospital. A twist of fate? Coincidence? Serendipity? Or because of some minor stalking?

After a damn good prologue from Landon’s POV, Part 1 delves into Landon and Evie’s teenage years, where a fragile friendship first develops between the moody, sullen boy and the peppy young girl. With her magical words, James *shows* the reader how Evie and Landon fall in love (rather than telling the reader so), allowing the reader to go along with the young lovebirds as they steal kisses behind the closed door of his basement bedroom, or in the car wash on the way to high school.

I did feel that her parents’ reaction was slightly harsh, considering how open and liberal they were otherwise described as being. But I get that such a reaction was necessary for the chain of events that will rip Evie and Landon apart.

Part 2 picks up a decade later, when they are both med students doing their residency at the same hospital. So much has happened in both of their lives; they are essentially strangers, but the connection between them still is so strong, so familiar. But in a sense, them dating is still forbidden as part of their hospital intern program, and the couple trade in their teenage kisses at the car wash for hot, hidden sex in a stretcher store room!

EJFracturedLoveBookCoverTEASER6IG
And as always, James provides a shocking plot twist that breaks the couple apart, leaves the reader gasping and wanting to keep turning the page to find out what happens next. The twist in FL is a doozy, and when Evie’s world implodes, she struggles to put the pieces back together. But once she does, and Evie and Landon figure out how to live with the complications in their lives, their fractured love is healed, made whole.

My only complaint about FL is that I would have liked to have learned more about what happened to Landon after he was kicked out by Evie’s parents. There are things that are alluded to that definitely contributed to the man he became, and that was really the one part of the book where I felt there could have been more told of the backstory.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Seducing Lola, by Jessica Prince

SBPRBanner-Seducing-Lola-BT

Seducing Lola
by Jessica Prince
Publication Date: July 18th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Seducing Lola, an all-new romantic standalone from Jessica Prince is available NOW!!

Seducing Lola front cover high res

I’ve had my fair share of bad relationships. I’ve dated liars, cheaters, shoe fetishists, and everything in between. Sure, these experiences would make any woman cynical when it comes to dipping her toe back into the dating pool, but I used my past for good and made a career out of helping other women avoid going down the same paths I had.

And I was damn good at it.

Until a random act of fate set my life on a course I’d been avoiding for years, and put me in the crosshairs of a man that made me feel things I swore to never feel again.

Now I’m in his sights and it seems like he’ll stop at nothing to seduce the hell out of me. He might hold my career in the palm of his hands, but if Grayson Lockhart thinks he can blackmail me into submission with his sexy voice and sexy hands and sexy everything, then he’s…probably right.

cce848a2-d5b8-4175-9c6d-b51cf8864da8.jpg

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Fun, fun, fun! And a whole lot of sexy!

I knew from the beginning of Seducing Lola that the main character was a real spitfire, and she sure was! The meet-cute in Starbucks when Lola shoots down Sexy Suit Grayson had me chuckling, and then when she comes to find out that he is kinda sorta her boss after that HORRENDOUS radio show gig — well, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to see Gray and Lola hook up!

Prince does a fantastic job of creating in Lola a fiercely independent woman who has seen so much heartbreak, she has walls 20 feet high — but then little by little, Gray and his sexy suits and sexy jeans weasel through the cracks as they date “for show.” Too often, I’ve read the fake-relationship-turns-real trope that just feels so forced and ridiculous, I can’t invest myself as a reader in the couple. That was so not the case with Gray and Lola. I was rooting for them. He has all the right moves when it comes to handling this Italian spitfire, knowing when to pull her close or when to give her space to be alone. Even when Grayson was more into the relationship than Lola was, he knew to back away, give her time to process her feelings — and the payoff was so worth it. The public declaration that Lola makes is everything.

I really hope that we get to see Dominic and Sophia’s story! And Nana! Please write more of Nana!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

Prologue

If you’d have asked my twenty-year-old self what I saw in my future ten years down the road, I probably would’ve answered the same way as every other naïve co-ed living the college dream on Sorority Row.

I’d be married to the love of my life, raising our two perfect children in the suburbs—because the city is no place to bring up a family, obviously—and driving a top-of-the-line SUV that all the minivan moms would envy because I had way too much style to ever be caught dead driving a minivan.

Clearly, my twenty-year-old self was an idiot.

It was she who forgave—then was subsequently dumped by—my college sweetheart after finding him pile-driving my sorority sister from behind on the handmade quilt I’d spent countless hours creating out of his old high school football T-shirts as a birthday present. His brilliant excuse?

“You’re just not adventurous enough, Lola. She’s willing to try things in bed that you aren’t.”

Apparently refusing to allow him to film us having sex and entering it into a contest on a porn site was just too vanilla for him. Last I heard, he was making a killing on the amateur scene.

Unfortunately, my twenty-one and twenty-two-year-old selves weren’t all that smart either.

It was my twenty-one-year-old self who discovered I’d unwittingly been made a beard by Brad, the guy I had dated for six months, because his evangelical parents just “wouldn’t understand.”

BTW, Brad and Phillip’s wedding was a really lovely affair. He asked me to stand as his best woman—since he considered our relationship the reason he finally made his way out of the closet—but I turned down the honor, choosing instead to get annihilated on mojitos at the open bar.

My twenty-two-year-old self thought I had finally found a decent guy. That was until I came home to find him doing something I’ll never be able to unsee to a pair of Louboutins I’d spent the better part of a year saving up for.

The saddest part? I hadn’t even had a chance to wear them before his defilement. I didn’t have the heart to throw them in the trash, so I let him take them with him when I kicked his ass out.

I should’ve known better, honestly. It wasn’t like I’d grown up in a home with my very own personal June and Ward Cleaver. Oh no, my parents split when I was only six years old. And it was anything but amicable. My mom never kept her hatred for my father secret. And dear old Dad never hid the string of women he kept on tap, one for whatever mood he may’ve been in. It was shocking that I hadn’t grown bitter at an even younger age, having to deal with their drama, but I was in my early twenties and still a believer in happily ever afters.

Like I said, I was an idiot.

Now I know what you’re thinking. After three miserable failures, I was probably a jaded cynic who was convinced true love didn’t exist.

Well, you’d only be half right. See, I believed in love, sure… as long as it was happening to anyone other than me. I’d been the fateful target of that bastard Cupid’s stupid-ass arrow three times already; I had no desire to go for a fourth. I wasn’t anti-relationship when it came to other people. To each their own and all that jazz. And I didn’t hate men. I just didn’t believe they were of any use to me for anything other than a few hours of fun that eventually led to a—hopeful—mutual release before I sent them on their way.

I learned from my mistakes, grown wise as the years passed. I knew exactly what I wanted out of my life, and believe me, there wasn’t a shitty picket fence in sight. If the suburbs were for families, then the city was exactly where I was meant to be. I was a successful, accomplished thirty-two-year-old woman who’d gotten where I was in life by hard work, perseverance, and the cluelessness of women all around the world.

My name was known in households all throughout Washington State. I, along with my two best friends, hosted Seattle’s most successful female-based talk radio show, aptly titled Girl Talk. I’d managed to make more money in the past ten years by offering relationship advice to helpless women than I’d ever know what to do with.

It was safe to say the rose-colored glasses were off. I lived in the real world where men cheated and women drowned their sorrows in vats of Ben & Jerry’s.

Sure, I wasn’t living the future I saw for myself when I was twenty, but then again, at twenty, I still thought Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were meant to be, that Wedding Crashers was cinematic brilliance, and that the whole Tom Cruise/Oprah couch jumping “I’m in love with Katie Holmes” thing was actually romantic. What the hell did I know back then?

A lot had changed over the years. And as I gazed out the floor-to-ceiling windows of my penthouse apartment, overlooking the Puget Sound, I could honestly say without a shred of doubt that I wouldn’t have it any other way.

About the Author:

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Excerpt

What an
odd date this is
—he’s
taking me out to watch another man give me orgasms.
A giggle
erupts from my throat at the thought.
“What’s so
funny?” He grins over at me as he starts up the car and pulls out into the
street.
“Just…this.
I can’t believe I’m doing this. I never thought I was this kind of woman.”
He narrows
his eyes at me. “What kind of woman?”
“The…you
know…threesome kind, or whatever this is.” I wave my hand in front of me.
“The kind
of woman that likes to explore her sexuality? The kind of woman that likes to
try new things? The kind of woman that doesn’t let society dictate the way she
leads her life?”
Hmm. I don’t mind being that kind
of woman. I feel his stare at the stoplight.
“Quinn.”
My mirth
dies and my smile fades at his serious tone. I meet his blue eyes and raise my
eyebrows in question.
“You listen
to me: I think you’re fucking amazing—strong, beautiful, talented, sexy as
fuck. If doing this is going to change your opinion of yourself, let’s not.”
My chest
squeezes at his sincerity and I feel so much better about tonight. I mean, I am
excited, but I must admit I was afraid of the judgement factor, of what
he’ll think of me after tonight. Now he’s worried about what I’ll think
of myself, and that alone makes me square my shoulders, raise my
chin, and reassure him.
“I want
this, Charlie, really want it. I promise I won’t regret it
later.”
He leans
forward, smiling, and places a soft kiss on my lips. “That’s more like it.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Unexpected Love, by Evan Grace

Title: Unexpected Love

Now Chloe is in way too deep, stuck in a very complicated situation which seems impossible to get out of.

Too bad she can’t change the past. If she could do it all over again, she wouldn’t be so reckless, so weak. She wouldn’t succumb to temptation so easily…

Or would she?
review.jpg

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

What was supposed to be a one-night stand between 31-year-0ld Chloe and 24-year-old Joe the night of their mutual cousin’s wedding (opposite sides of the family!) turns into so much more — something so unexpected.

Reader beware: there is a potential trigger here as the bulk of the story deals with miscarriage. I wish I had known that going in, so if you can’t deal with that subject matter, you might want to pass this one by. That said, Evan Grace does a great job of showing how both Chloe and Joe deal with losing their child, from the hurt and lashing out all the way through to the healing, and the way both of their families rally around the characters afterwards is heartwarming.

The age difference between Joe and Chloe is an obvious issue for her at first, but Joe is nothing if not determined to prove that he’s mature enough to handle the relationship. And a long-distance one at that. He really puts in the effort to prove his love to Chloe, and when a second tragedy strikes, it’s the kick in the pants that Chloe needs to realize that the years between them have nothing to do with the feelings in their hearts.

I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series, but Unexpected Love did read like a true standalone, even though it’s connected to characters from several of Evan Grace’s other books. There are ALOT of supporting players here — I kind of had a hard time keeping them all straight!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

“For some reason this book just got to me on such a deeper level than some in awhile. I will tell you to read Evan Grace’s book!!! Every single one of them.”(Tina Morgan from Sassy Southern Book Blog)
“The author made me fall in love with Joe & Chloe so many times over. Even if I wanted to throw my kindle at Joe a time or two.” (Diane Plourde with TDC Book Reviews)
“This author knows how to bring me to my knees. Have some tissues (or wine or chocolate) handy to get through some of the devastating sad parts, you’ll be so glad you stuck it out.” (Violin vixen from Violin Vixen Reviews)
“I have every book in The Love Stings Series by Evan Grace and book 4 is now my favourite.” (Sharon Jones from Evan Grace Review Team)

A Midwesterner and self-proclaimed nerd, Evan has been an avid reader most of her life, but five years ago got bit by the writing bug, and it quickly became her addiction, passion and therapy. When the voices in her head give it a rest, she can always be found with her e-reader in her hand. Some of her favorites include, Shayla Black, Jaci Burton, Madeline Sheehan and Jamie Mcguire. Evan finds a lot of her inspiration in music, so if you see her wearing her headphones you know she means business and is in the zone.

Anastasia:

Here’s the first thing you should know: this is not a fairytale.
Happily-ever-afters are fables, and Prince Charming is a sweet little lie.
I know all this because he taught me.
Once upon a lifetime ago, the rich, arrogant, sinfully gorgeous, and tragically
broken dark prince of the Hamptons was my tormentor. My darkness, my shameful
attraction, my all-consuming, forbidden temptation.
I hate Sebastian Crown because nine years ago, for one night, I was stupid
enough to think I loved him. And I’ve been paying for it ever since.
Except now, he needs me to help him save his empire.
…And he’s not taking no for answer.

Bastian:

She’s my nemesis. My addiction. My weakness.
My obsession.
I used to tell myself I hated Anastasia Bell – for being poor, for not
worshipping the ground I walked on, for looking at me like she pitied me for
being me.
When the rest of my world always told me yes, she was the ever-provoking no.
She thinks I’m a monster – a tragic, fucked-up, broken beast.
She doesn’t know the half of it.
Because she can’t begin to know the crimes of my past, or imagine the things
I’ve done to her behind the scenes since she left this place.
Years ago, I thought breaking her would fix me.
I was wrong.
Now I’ve got her in my sights again, and this time, I won’t be letting her go.
Even if it means we both go down in flames…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The thin line between love and hate is the basic crux of Beautiful Beast, a dark erotic reimagining of Beauty & The Beast.

Sebastian — or Bastian, the beast — is an arrogant, rude, jerk. He tormented Anastasia Bell, the daughter of his family’s gardener, for years. Seemingly for no real reason, because the truth was something that he never wanted to admit to himself. When Ana’s father falls ill, Bastian summons her back to the Crown Estate to take over her father’s job. Of course, that’s nothing more than a ruse because he needs so much more from her in order to save his legacy. And even himself.

The story unfolds between the past and the present, setting up the enemies-to-lovers romance. As far as damaged alphas go, Bastian has it all. He’s been orphaned, lived a rich and privileged life where he was never told no, and when he couldn’t get the one thing he wanted, he played God with Ana’s life so that no one else could have her either. I wasn’t really sure how Aubrey Irons was going to make him redeemable because Bastian just did so many despicable things to Ana over the years. But out of the darkness of this monster, there is a glimmer of humanity left inside Bastian, and when the story comes to its climax, it was enough for me to fall hook, line and sinker for this damaged, broken man.

Aubrey Irons did a bang-up job with this bad boy romance, right down to the garden of roses. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
