About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Now Live! Dear Bridget, I Want You, by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland!

AVAILABLE NOW

Amazon iBooks |  B&N |  Kobo  | Google Play  |  Amazon paperback

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Melt, by Carrie Aarons

Title: Melt
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: September 17, 2017
Blurb
You scream. I scream. We all scream during … well, you get the point. After a failed eight-year relationship and a cross-country move, the last thing I’m looking for as a single mom is a new flame. In fact, diapers, walls marked in crayon, and daycare pickup are the only things on my to-do list.

Enter Jake Brady, your friendly neighborhood food truck owner whose dimples and delicacies won’t seem to leave well enough alone. With more popularity than the president, his wine-infused sweet treats have our nation’s capital hooked. He’s spontaneous, smug and all-American gorgeous; a dangerous combination considering he has no interest in taking on the responsibilities that rule my life.

But when we can’t seem to sample enough of each other’s … desserts, things start to get complicated. Jake is biting off more than he can chew, and when I watch him with my daughter, I can’t seem to freeze my melting heart.

Maybe it’s his waffle cone. Maybe it’s his … banana split. Either way, I think I’m in trouble with a cherry on top.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Melt is an absolutely adorable, honest, heartwarming story. I fell in love with Jake and Samantha as they fell in love with one another. And sweet little Lennon was such a charmer! What I really liked was how raw and honest Jake and Samantha’s start-and-stop was when it came to her duties as a single mom and whether or not he was ready for giving up bachelorhood for that kind of responsibility. But he proved that he was in it for the long haul, the ups and downs, and Jake was there for Samantha when her life starts to go to crap, even as she tried to push him away.

The characters are relatable, the interactions between them and Lennon could have been from any single mom’s real life, and the struggles Jake faces when it comes to his family are so, so common. I absolutely adored this book!

Title: A Little Like Destiny

Author: Lisa Suzanne
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: August 31, 2017

Blurb
Reserved and responsible Reese Brady refuses to miss her chance with bad boy rock star Mark Ashton. After one steamy night, she’s convinced the emotional connection they shared was just a figment of her imagination. After all, he’s a womanizer whose affairs are highly publicized.Reese strives to leave that night behind her after a handsome business mogul asks her to dinner. Her relationship with Brian Fox quickly escalates into something meaningful, but Reese never expects the secret that emerges when he finally invites her to his penthouse.

She fell in love with a rock star the last time she was there. How could she know she’d fall in love with his brother next?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I loved Lisa’s Clickbait/Stalemate/Outwait series and was so excited that she was starting a new rockstar series. I didn’t realize that this would be a book trio and the first one was a cliffhanger, but OMG! A Little Like Destiny had me hooked from the first page and I read it in a single day.

I love the concept that straight-laces Reese is caught in triangle between rockstar Mark and his businessman brother Brian. At first, I didn’t understand WHY Reese was so hung up on Mark — a total womanizer from all appearances — when Brian seemed like such a great catch. But then came the chapter that detailed the night she spent with Mark, her celeb crush for over a decade, and I felt the connection between them. Even I was as torn as Reese was between the brothers after that!

I can’t help but feel that there’s more to Brian then meets the eye, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this love triangle! I am anxiously awaiting book #2! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Nineteen Letters, by Jodi Perry

Title: Nineteen Letters
Author: Jodi Perry
Publisher: Hachette Australia

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: August 29, 2017

Blurb
Nineteen. There’s something about that number; it not only
brought us together, bonding us forever, it also played a hand in tearing us
apart.
The nineteenth of January 1996. I’ll never forget it. It was
the day we met. I was seven and she was six. It was the day she moved in next
door, and the day I developed my first crush on a girl.
Exactly nineteen years later, all my dreams came true when
she became my wife. She was the love of my life. My soul mate. My everything.
The reason I looked forward to waking up every morning.
Then tragedy struck. Nineteen days after we married, she was
in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her
coma, she had no memory of me, of us, of the love we shared.
I was crushed. She was my air, and without her I couldn’t
breathe.
The sparkle that once glistened her eyes when she looked at
me was gone. To her, now, I was a stranger. I had not only lost my wife, I had
lost my best friend.
But I refused to let this tragedy be the end of us. That’s
when I started to write her letters, stories of our life. Of when we met. About
the happier times, and everything we had experienced together.
What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Heartbreaking Stars

Nineteen Letters is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was blown away. Jemma losing her memory after a coma was heart-wrenching and the lengths that Braxton goes through to tell her their love story was just amazing. Each of his 19 letters brought a tear to my eye.

This story was so full of heart, loyalty, inner strength and soul, all wrapped up in a fresh start. I loved how Jemma’s parents got a second chance at their marriage along with Braxton and Jemma.

Nineteen Letters is an amazing lesson in how quickly your life can change — in a blink of an eye — and time is too precious to take your loved ones for granted. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt

CHAPTER ONE
Jemma
It’s a wet
and dreary morning is the first thing I hear when the radio booms to life,
alerting me to the fact it’s time to get up.
Dreary
doesn’t even come close. The thought of no longer being able to spend every
waking minute with my gorgeous husband has already put a dampener on my day. I
can’t believe our time off together has come to an end. I hate that I have to
go back to work this morning, and leave the little bubble Braxton and I have
been living in for the past four weeks.
Right up
until the wedding, things were so busy with our careers, building our dream
house and organising our special day. Everything combined seemed to take away
from us being together. This one-on-one time we’ve had since tying the knot was
just what we both needed.
‘Morning,
Mrs Spencer.’
He rolls
onto his side, pulling me further into his warm, luscious body. It has been
exactly nineteen days since we exchanged wedding vows, and I’m still floating.
‘Morning,
Mr Spencer.’ I lean my forehead against his. ‘I’m not ready to go back to work.
I can’t stand the thought of spending the entire day without you.’
He chuckles
as his teeth nip at my pouting lip. ‘I feel exactly the same way, babe. Our
time off has gone way too quick. We should have taken two months off, instead
of one.’
Despite him
being a constant figure in my daily life, for the past nineteen years, I still
get a rush when I think about what our future together holds.
I met
Braxton when my parents and I moved in next door. We were just kids, but we’ve
been inseparable ever since. He’s my one and only. He always has been, and
always will be. He’s not only the love of my life; he’s my best friend, my soul
mate, my forever boy.
He’s
incredibly dreamy, with his movie-star looks. I run my fingers through his
sandy blond hair as my eyes roam over his perfectly sculpted face; his big blue
eyes pop against his tanned skin. He has a smile that makes my knees weak. His
front tooth turns in ever so slightly, but it takes nothing away from his
Colgate-worthy smile.
When he
realises I’m checking him out, the sexy grin that I adore appears on his face.
It highlights the cute dimple in his left cheek. To this day, he still manages
to turn my insides to mush, but it’s his inner beauty that affects me the most.
‘I could
always call in sick,’ I say, perking up for a moment, but in reality I know
it’s not possible. I have a big client coming in first thing Monday morning,
and I need to prepare.
‘If I
didn’t have this damn meeting later this morning, I’d say do it,’ he replies,
smiling.
‘I’m going
to miss you.’
‘I’m going
to miss you too, Jem. The past four weeks have been my kind of heaven.’
I sigh.
‘I’d give anything to be back in Kauai right now.’
My fingers
move from his hair and skim down the side of his face as I speak. The beach has
always been our favourite place. That’s why we built our dream home overlooking
the ocean. The soothing sound of the waves crashing against the shore as I
drift off to sleep every night, and the sweet smell of sea air first thing in
the morning . . . it’s cathartic. It’s also one of the reasons we chose
Hawaii—a beautiful villa on the majestic shores of Tunnels Beach—as the place
to spend the first two weeks of our married life.
‘Me too.’
He gives me a wistful look. ‘I’ll take you back there over the Christmas break,
I promise.’
‘I’d like
that.’ My fingertips dance over his collarbone, before moving across his
shoulder. When I run a path down his strong back, he groans.
I sigh
again when I think that Christmas is ten months away, but I guess we have the
rest of our lives together to create the kind of memories we did in Hawaii.
Untangling
my legs from his, I pause briefly. I don’t want to leave him. I exhale a
drawn-out breath. ‘I suppose I better jump in the shower.’
‘Would you
like some company?’
Reaching
for me, he rolls onto his back, taking me with him. I laugh when he wiggles his
eyebrows. I straddle his waist before covering his mouth with mine. My shower
can wait. Making love to my man is much more important.
Sliding
forward, I line myself up. His strong hands grip my hips, and we moan in unison
as I sink down onto him. My eyes lock with his as I slowly rock my body against
him. ‘I love you, Brax.’
‘I love you
too, Jem. So much.’
He reaches
for my hands, lacing his fingers through mine. We’ve always had such a strong
bond, but when we’re connected like this, we become one. I’ll never tire of
these feelings he evokes in me.
There are
times I feel guilty because together, we’re perfect. None of our friends have
the kind of relationship Braxton and I do. What we have is unbreakable.
Sometimes my feelings for him overwhelm me. I’m not sure how either of us would
survive without the other.
As I rush
around putting the finishing touches on my make-up, I catch a glimpse of
Braxton in the mirror. He’s leaning up against the doorframe watching me get
ready. He’s shirtless and wearing a pair of grey sweats that hang low on his
hips. My pulse quickens as my eyes rake over his bare chest, and each delicious
muscle that defines his torso, from the perfect V just above the waistband, right
up to his washboard abs. One of my favourite things to do is watch him work out
on the small home gym he set up in the garage. I don’t think he even realises
how sexy he is. Growing up, he didn’t notice the way all the girls swooned over
him. But I did.
My eyes
move back to his, and the adoring look on his face sends my heart into a
flutter. The sheer love I feel for this man consumes every fibre of my being.
It’s euphoric.
‘How long
have you been standing there?’ I ask as my mouth curves into a smile.
‘I’m just
admiring my beautiful wife.’ I love hearing him call me his wife.
He pushes
off the doorframe and stalks towards me. When his arms encircle my waist, he
pulls me back into him. A soft moan falls from my mouth as his lips trail a
path up my neck. I tilt my head to the side, allowing him better access.
‘I’m
already running late,’ I breathe.
‘I wish you
didn’t have to go.’ His warm breath on my skin leaves goosebumps in its wake.
‘Me
either.’
‘The next
eight hours are going to feel like an eternity.’
I sigh in
agreement. ‘I know.’
His tongue
glides over the sensitive spot behind my ear, sending shivers down my spine. He
did that on purpose. ‘Don’t make any plans for tonight, because I’m taking you
out to dinner.’
‘You’re
taking me out? Where?’
‘The Sea
Shanty.’ He groans as he sucks my earlobe into his mouth.
‘What’s the
special occasion?’
‘Our
anniversary.’
My eyes fly
open to meet his in the mirror. ‘Our what?’ My mind starts to race. What anniversary?
He turns me
in his arms so I’m facing him, and pulls a small black box from his pocket. ‘I
was going to give this to you tonight, but I want you to have it now. Happy
nineteenth anniversary, sweetheart.’
My hands
tremble slightly as I take hold of the box. That’s when I remember that today
we have been married for nineteen days, and a huge smile breaks out on my face.
The number nineteen has always held special significance for us.
Tears of
happiness pool in my eyes as I open the lid. Inside I find a white-gold
necklace that’s holding a diamond-encrusted number-nineteen pendant.
‘Oh
Braxton, it’s beautiful. I love it . . . I love you.’

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Back In Black, by Julie Kriss

BackInBlack

I’ve never been a hero. I’m the lawyer every third-rate criminal calls when he’s been arrested – again. Or I was, until one of my clients became one of the richest men in the country. Now I’m supposed to clean up my act.

It isn’t so easy. I dress more like a biker than a lawyer, and I have friends in low places. As for women, ten years ago the divorce from hell left me scarred – I live alone, I sleep alone. Trust me, it’s for the good of womankind.

Then Charlotte showed up on my doorstep. Willing to work as my assistant to pay off her brother’s legal bill. Beautiful and determined, even against the men trying to hurt her. She tells me I drive her crazy. She drives me crazy right back.

I hired her.
I watched her turn my life upside down.
I saved her.
I knocked her up.
And then I fell for her.

They say a bad boy can’t be a good man. But they’ve never met me. And they don’t know how determined I can be.

The Bad Billionaires series:
Book 1: Bad Billionaire
Book 2: Dirty Sweet Wild
Book 3: Rich Dirty Dangerous
Book 4: Back in Black

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I’ve loved this Bad Billionaires series and was thrilled to see Ben the lawyer get his own story. I’ve kind of had a book boyfriend crush on him ever since he picked up Devon from prison in Bad Billionaire #1.

Ben is a hot mess. His life is utter chaos. Then Charlotte literally drops onto his doorstep, needing his legal services to save her brother and having no way to pay Ben’s fee. So they strike a deal where she’ll work it off, and it’s not long before Ben and Charlotte can’t keep their hands off of one another. I loved how Charlotte calls him out on his crap, gets under his skin, and turns his world upside down. And when it comes to Charlotte, Ben wants nothing more than to protect her — which is a huge deal for him since he’s closed himself off after a brutal divorce years earlier.

The characters are nicely developed as a couple, and there are enough appearances from the couples from the other three books to satisfy readers of the entire series without those other characters taking control of the story away from Ben and Charlotte. I’m not a fan of MC romances, and while the broader scope of Back In Black involves a MC club, the central characters aren’t members. My only complaint is that the situation with Charlotte’s brother just kind of disappears — I would have liked some kind of resolution or update to him. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Emerson just made her dream come true as a professional cheerleader for her favorite pro football team. But even though the plus-size athlete is breaking down boundaries, she still has to contend with the massive rulebook. Carbs? Nope. Chocolate? Definitely not. Still, Emerson loves her curves, and she’ll rock the hell out of this job even if it kills her. Except for one mandate that is easier read than done…

No fraternizing with the players.

Problem one is Miller Quinton: Emerson’s first love, first sex, and the guy who still ignites her daydreams and R-rated fantasies. Thrown back together, Miller and Emerson feel the undeniable pull of passion again, even if the conflict that tore them apart seems insurmountable. Then there’s way-too-sexy Grant Sanchez. He has a serious reputation with the ladies, and when it comes to winning someone he wants, he doesn’t let anyone stand in his way.

Now Emerson is breaking every rule in the manual. But what she doesn’t know is that she’s part of a wicked little game—one that could steal both her dream and her heart.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Fraternize was a great start to a new sports series by RVD. It’s much lighter in tone compared to the books I’ve read in her Eagle Elite series, and I thought it was somewhat more playful than her Seaside series.

I liked the twist that RVD puts on this second-chance romance. Miller and Emerson were childhood best friends who took a chance at something more as teenagers, but then a misunderstanding left each of them thinking that the other broke their promise of forever. They now cross paths as adults where she’s a cheerleader for the pro football team Miller’s just been transferred to. Add into the mix another hot gridiron star, Sanchez, and there are all the makings of a heated love triangle.

Emerson isn’t your typical skinny blonde cheerleader type — she’s curvy, and she owns it. It’s part of her, she makes no apologies for her curves, but it doesn’t become the focus of her storyline, either, which I can appreciate as a BBW myself. I wish that Sanchez had a few more chapters told from his POV, because this story is just as much his as it is Miller’s and Emerson’s.

I don’t want to spoil the ending — there is a HEA is all that I am willing to say! — but I will say that I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment in this series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review

Stella Hart is the hottest thing in country music. For ten
years, she’s been Nashville’s darling. She’s pure, sweet, and a positive role
model in an industry rife with scandals, sex, and sequins. Men want to own her,
women want to be her—everyone wants a piece of her, and Stella? Well, she wants
out.
As the center for the Calgary Crushers, Van Ross isn’t afraid
of the spotlight, but he doesn’t much like it either. Despite his reputation as
a player, the NHL’s bad boy lives for only two things: the game, and his
younger brother. That’s why when he comes across a country music superstar
seeking refuge at his home in the Canadian Rockies, he’s not too happy with the
media shitstorm this surprise houseguest brings.
With a nationwide manhunt, paparazzi dogging their every
move, producers of a reality TV show baying for blood, and a record label
desperate to see their “good girl” returned safely home, Van and Stella’s lives
are snowballing out of control.
While Van would like nothing more than to show the purest of
them all how well he handles his er … stick, Stella is no puck bunny. Nor is
she as innocent as she’d have the world believe.

With chemistry like theirs, tension runs high on and off the
ice, but the end game is the same for both players: line up the puck, take the
shot, and score. If only their hearts understood the play.

Puck fame and fortune.
Puck right and wrong.

Puck love.

Excerpt

I creep
into the room, wincing when my foot hits a creaky floorboard. I still, just
inches from the bed, paralyzed by fear. When he doesn’t move, I slowly pull
back the covers and slip beneath them, easing my head onto the pillow beside
his. Van’s arm automatically wraps around me and pulls me closer. I don’t know
if he’s still asleep, and I don’t much care because . . . cuddles.
It’s toasty and warm in his embrace, and I snuggle in.
Van takes a
deep breath in through his nose. “There she is.”
“This
doesn’t mean anything.”
“Sure it
doesn’t,” he mumbles, in possibly the sexiest sleep-roughened voice I’ve ever
heard.
“My fire’s
gone out. That’s the only reason I’m here right now.”
“Do you
want me to come light it again?”
I pause for
entirely too long. “No. You’re way hotter.”
He
chuckles. “Than fire?”
“Shut up.
You know what I mean.”
“I’m not
really sure I do. I think I’m going to need you to spell it out for me, snuggle
bunny,” he murmurs, his warm breath ruffling my hair. Oh, I’ll spell it out,
alright. I stretch my toes back and poke him with them. He jerks away, and I
plant both of my feet on his warm legs and chortle as he shrieks like a little
girl.
I snuggle
closer, my body spooned by his much larger one, and a beat passes in silence.
“Still doesn’t mean anything.”
“If I say
it doesn’t mean anything, will you shut up?”
“Yes.”
“If I say
it doesn’t mean anything, will you blow me?”
“Oh my god,
Van.” I attempt to squirm out of his grasp, but he pulls me closer and buries
his nose in my hair. He sighs loudly.
“Relax, I’m
just kidding. Sort of.”
“Go to
sleep, hockey hero.”

Cover Reveal: Last Words, by Shari J. Ryan

Cover Design: MadHat Books

Release Date: October 9, 2017

Synopsis

Last Words, where Non-Fiction meets Fiction, and the lines in between are blurred by forbidden love.

Amelia – 1942:

The inside of my closet held the last bit of my freedom before I was torn from my home and shoved onto a dark train.

Our destination was even darker. “Women and children to the right. Men to the left,” they shouted at us.

Everything was taken from me, leaving only the smoke filled air, piercing screams, and soul-burning cries.

I was slowly starved and weakened to the bone, but there was a man—a Nazi—who brought me extra food. He called himself a prisoner too, but he scared me, and I wondered if he was the enemy I should fear the most.

Emma – Current Day:

My grandmother hid her past in an old diary under her bed. The tattered, brown leather book sat there for years until she asked me to find it and read her unspoken words. Now, her stories and secrets are consuming every moment of my life.

She’s dying … and asking for a man no one in our family has ever heard of.

I never imagined a hand-written book could change my entire life, but it has. It opened my eyes to a new beginning, and I learned that love is not the unsaid word my grandmother has refused to speak. It’s an action—it’s longevity, taboo and sometimes forbidden. Do we fight for what’s wrong, or do we spend our lives searching for what’s right?

Last words were never spoken because love doesn’t stop until a heart is no longer beating.
