Synopsis

Jolie Louis is a smart girl.

She knows that her best friend, Sage Poirier, is a bad idea.

He’s a walking, talking cliché. The Adonis quarterback with the bulging biceps and harem of fangirls trailing behind him on campus like a stench you can’t get rid of.

Sadly, it is also the very reason she can’t seem to stay away from him.

No, wait. That’s not fair. They’re also roommates, at least until May, when they graduate from college.

Jolie is already straddling the line between friendship and more when Sage comes to her with an offer she cannot refuse: be his fake girlfriend and live for free for the rest of the semester.

She tells herself that she can handle it.

He’s just the boy she saved ten years ago, right?

Wrong. So very wrong.

He is a man now, and she is his captive

Heart, body, and soul…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Two Wedding Crashers, by Meghan Quinn

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Saucy Stars

I admit, when I read Three Blind Dates, Beck was the least of my favorite suitors. I just didn’t connect with him, and didn’t really feel the spark between him and Noley. And now I know that’s because Meghan Quinn was saving The Rebel for Rylee.

TWC_Saucy_Teaser

From the moment that Beck sees Rylee on the plane to Key West — where they are both tagging along with friends, uninvited, to crash a wedding — he’s smitten. Baby barf and all. And the attraction between them only grows when Rylee is mistakenly given his room key and… all that not-seeing-of-anything goes down. They agree to give in to whatever is brewing between them just for the weekend, a no-strings-attached affair, and what develops next is a remarkable chemistry and friendship.

That friendship continues to grow long after Beck and Rylee leave Key West, and through their text messages and FaceTime dates, the reader gets to know the couple more as they learn more about one another. I loved this concept; I find it awkward to transfer a vacation fling to a real-world setting in a romance novel, but Quinn does so flawlessly thanks to these little moments and modern-day technology. So by the time Beck and “Saucy” meet up again in Vegas to crash some more weddings, even though it’s only the second time they’ve seen one another in person, there is such a deep connection between them.

But everything goes to hell during that Vegas date. We finally find out what Beck’s been dealing with since his first marriage went bust, and we also find out why Rylee has such writer’s block. While I felt that the fight between them was kind of anti-climactic in terms of breaking them up, it was a lead-in to one of the best scenarios I’ve ever read in how the hero wins back the girl.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

Chills scream their way down my arms and legs, my nipples pucker, and just like that, with one word, all humor vanishes from our little conversation and awareness of this all-consuming man wrapped around me hits me hard.

Gathering myself, I say, “Tell me something Chris and Justine know about you.”

“Hmm.” His thumbs hook under the waistband of my shorts, playing with the lower part of my hipbones. His touch spurs on my pelvis, needing to rock, begging for him to go lower. My toes curl in my sandals and my back slightly arches, reaching for more. “Something they know about me.”

His mouth doesn’t stray from its position against my ear, and his hips start to slowly move underneath me, his legs tangling with mine. Involuntarily, one of my hands hooks the back of his neck as I hold on tightly to him, feeling like I need support from the onslaught of sensation I’m feeling.

I hear him say something, but it doesn’t register in my brain, which has turned to mush as his thumbs stray from my hipbones to right above my pubic bone.

There is no denying how turned on I am, how wet I am from his mere touch, how much—despite my reservations—I want this man.

With each stroke, my head turns farther and farther to the side until our noses are touching, Beck’s head bends forward to meet me halfway. My eyes flutter shut for a brief moment before I open them and am captured by those flecks of green and gold.

The air stills around us, our breath mixing, swirling between us, our lips so close.

One swipe of this thumb.

Another one.

I can’t breathe.

I can’t focus.

Another swipe, my head leans even closer, my tongue wetting my lips.

One more swipe . . .

My heart hammers in my chest, my skin prickling with awareness.

Beck brings his mouth even closer, only a whisper away now, and he waits.

Holding still.

His breathing feeling erratic beneath me.

One.

More.

Swipe.

And I’m gone.

I bring my mouth to his, slowly parting my lips ever so slightly, just enough to maneuver my mouth across his.

A low, provocative moan escapes Beck as one of his hands snags the back of my head and holds me in place, almost as if he lets go, I’ll disappear.

Needing more, I shift on his lap so I’m straddling him once again, my hands on his bare chest, feeling the powerful sinew that holds him together.

Our lips press and mold, mingling, taking, begging . . .

Desperate.

Beck’s tongue runs against my bottom lip, eliciting a moan from deep within me, lighting a fire so hot, so wild, my hands start to travel up his neck to his cheeks where I grip him, positioning his head so when I open my mouth, I can expertly dive my tongue onto his.

He groans, his lap shifting against mine now, his hard-on pressing against my wet and throbbing center. I match his rocking, using my position on his lap to take advantage of his length I can feel through his board shorts.

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but God, am I happy it has. Maybe I really should live in the moment, maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity, maybe I should…

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color.

Same legs.

Same face.

Except…I look harder.

At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.

This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.

It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.

Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.

Cover Reveal: Thrilling Ethan, by Anna Paige

Title: Thrilling Ethan
Series: A Thrill of the Chase Novel
Author: Anna Paige
Genre: Contemporary (Rocker) Romance
Release Date: April 6, 2018
Cover Design: JM Walker with Just Write Creations

Leading a double life isn’t easy.
Leading a double life when you’re famous is nearly impossible.
Luckily, I’m always up for a challenge.
For years, I’d balanced both worlds.
More than that, I was killing it.
A successful music career,
Drummer for the most popular rock band in the world,
And I’d amassed a huge following as a painter—
Even if no one knew it was me.
I had it all.
Or I thought I did.
Then I went toe-to-toe with my alter-ego’s biggest fan,
Who tried to throw me out of my own art show.
And made me realize exactly what I’d been missing.
The thrill of sharing my secret bonded us,
But that wasn’t why she consumed me.
I never bought into the idea of love as the ultimate muse.
Emily Westin was about to make me a believer.

Ethan

I could tell the second I laid eyes on her that she was going to give me shit. The way she looked me over with thinly veiled disgust and squared her delicate shoulders. How she marched my way with purpose and efficiency across the floor of the art gallery. It was enough to make my dick stir despite having just come in from the frigid New York weather—not an easy feat when the temps had plummeted and my manhood had climbed nearly to my throat to avoid the cold. She narrowed her eyes at me, and my cock twitched again.
Nice to see you’re out of hiding there, sport, but you’re barking up the wrong tree with this one.

She looked entirely too hostile for the filthy things my poor, misguided penis had me thinking.

“Excuse me, but the gallery is closed for a private event.” She was gorgeous in her simple black gown and blazing red heels. She wore a thin gold chain at her neck with a small diamond pendant and matching earrings. Her shiny blonde hair was pulled up in a severe twist, her makeup understated and alluring. Her stunning green eyes were the only sparkle she needed, and they were serving her well.
I liked her understated style.

She had a hint of a southern drawl, and I liked that, too.

“I’m aware,” I told her, nodding over her shoulder. “I was told I could stop by before the event to have a look around.”

She scoffed, folding her arms across her chest and once again looked over my worn jeans, dark shades, and hoodie—the last of which was pulled up to cover my head and part of my face. “I wasn’t aware that the Unabomber was on the guest list.” Her nose wrinkled in the most adorable way, and I nearly laughed.
Seriously, I was popping the biggest ‘hot for teacher’ boner just watching her disapproving frown. She reminded me of the TA I’d had a crush on back in high school—only ten times sexier. “I’m assuming you’re referring to the poker player who used hoodies to obscure his face rather than the actual terrorist.” She had such an expressive face; no way would she ever be able to play poker.
“I’m undecided,” she offered in a clipped tone as she glanced around, presumably looking for backup. “And you need to leave. Guests will be arriving soon; ones who are fully aware and respectful of the dress code for events such as this.” Her eyes narrowed, and she surprised me by stepping closer, entering my space. “I’ll not have you disturbing anyone or disrespecting the work being showcased here tonight. Now, I’ll ask you one last time to please leave.”

“Emily? Is there a problem here?” An older gentleman approached from the back room, his brow furrowed as he took in my attire and returned his attention to her.
So, her name is Emily. Hmm, I like it. Suits her.
She quirked her mouth and watched me as he approached, answering without looking away. “This…” Her lip curled in distaste, and I had the insane urge to bite it. “Party crasher won’t leave. He says he was told to ‘stop by’ before the show tonight to look around.” God love her, she even used air quotes, and her southern accent was ramping up as she got progressively more irritated.

When the older man didn’t respond, she looked from me to him. “Arthur, did you hear me?”

I’d kept my eyes predominantly on her, but realizing his silence, I flicked my gaze to him and found him staring wide-eyed in my direction. “Are you…?”
I nodded quickly and returned my attention to the trim, golden-haired spitfire who was still in my personal space. So close, in fact, that I could smell her perfume, which was amazing: crisp and light, with a fruity note that made me want to lick her.
She glanced up at me and stepped back as if she was just realizing how close we were standing. Satisfied that she was at a safe distance, she looked back to the older man expectantly. “Well? Anyone want to clue me in? Preferably while we’re all still reasonably young. I have to get things ready in case the artist shows.”
“I thought the artist was a recluse, secretive to the point that no one had actually met the man,” I interjected, suppressing a smile.
She gave me an annoyed look. “It’s rumored that he sometimes attends his showings as a guest, just to see how his work is being received. On the off chance that the rumor is true, I want everything perfect in advance of his arrival.” The way she spoke made it clear she was a fan of the artist, so much so that her fluid green eyes actually danced despite her annoyance at my intrusion. She managed to fangirl without gushing, which was something I wasn’t used to seeing. In my line of work, gushing, crying, and even being hit with a hail of still-warm panties was the norm from fans.
Maybe if I took off my glasses she’d gush a little.

Would she even recognize me? I wasn’t as front-and-center as the rest of the band, being that I was always behind my drum kit, but I still had a pretty massive following. Thus, the need for anonymity when I was out and about.

“Emily, maybe you should run along and finish up. I’ll take care of Mr.—um, this gentleman.” The man looked at me with a shrug, not sure what to say to her but having clearly decided she needed not be privy to my identity.

I disagreed.
I bent forward and gave her a disarming smile. “The artist thinks you’ve done an amazing job already. Don’t touch a thing. It’s all perfect.”
“And how could you possibly know that?” she snipped.
I straightened up and tilted my head down, letting the corner of my mouth quirk up in an ironic smile as I peered at her over the top of my glasses.

She just stared at me for a minute, her initial frown morphing before my eyes. She went from annoyed to confused to excited to mortified in the span of a few seconds before making a long gasping sound low in her throat. “Oh, shit.” Her face went white, and one hand came up to clutch her chest over her heart like it was hammering behind her ribs.
Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. It was a spur of the moment decision. The owner and curator had both signed NDAs, but she hadn’t. I wanted to be worried about it, but standing there, watching her slowly turn green, I just couldn’t muster enough self-awareness to care. All I could focus on was her and how she staggered back, apologizing profusely before running off in the direction of the ladies’ room.
The curator—I believe she called him Arthur—looked at me sheepishly. “Obviously, that wasn’t the welcome I’d envisioned for someone of your reputation and talent. I can only assume it fell short of your expectations, as well.”

If he’d seen some of the greetings I’d gotten over the years from the droves of Thrill of the Chase followers, he wouldn’t have bothered asking such a stupid question. “I’ve had better,” I deadpanned.
Anna Paige is the author of the Broken series, the Thrill of the Chase series, and Off Script, a sexy standalone romance.

She lives in a rural town in North Carolina where the only activity is the rhythmic color change of the solitary stoplight and a very real threat of being carried away by mosquitoes. The only alternative to terminal boredom is writing, making life interesting if only on the page.

Anna is happily married, with one amazing son and a pair of hilarious pets. When she’s not writing, she’s trying to make a dent in her TBR pile. Given that she’s constantly adding new titles to the list, the chances of her ever finishing are slim.

And she’s completely fine with that.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews The Hook-Up Experiment, by Emma Hart

1.Hate-screw my high school nemesis.

2.Remember to hate him.

3.Prove my brother wrong.

It should be easy.

It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics—except this time, they’re required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department…

Three hook-ups.

One outcome.

Right?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

You know that when a heroine declares that she’s not going to fall in love with the hero, that is exactly what will happen. So watching Peyton set out to casually hook up with Elliott — the crush who stood her up back in high school — and vow not to fall for him was a sassy, hysterical treat. The banter between these two was off-the-charts, and their chemistry jumped off the page.

I loved that this book isn’t just an enemies-to-lovers, but also a blend of a second chance romance — and a single dad. I love a hot single dad hero. While Peyton was introduced in one of Hart’s previous books, The Hook-Up Experiment is a standalone and I didn’t feel like I was missing pieces of her story for not having read The Upside Of Being Single. Overall, The Hook-Up Experiment is an enjoyable, easy, funny read — a great book to get lost in for a few hours on a Saturday. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The Scars I Bare is a wonderfully sweet book about two very damaged souls. Dean carries the physical scars of a horrible boating accident, while single mom Cora is emotionally scarred thanks to a brutal and abusive marriage. Little by little, the two help help each other learn how to live again, finding the sweetest love along the way.

And I loved Lizzie, aka the female Sheldon Cooper. She was an absolute joy. And thanks to the journal entries that accompanied all of Dean’s chapters, we got a peek inside the mind of the man he was just after his accident, when he first met Cora, and how far he’s come in the three years since.

This book is the second in a series; I had not read The Choices I Made previously, where Dean was first introduced, but I did not feel that I was missing chunks of the backstory here as a result. The Scars I Bare is a perfect title for everything that this romance represents, and the book itself is a wonderful romance that gives you all the feels and wanting more long after you’ve come to The End.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: What He Doesn’t Know, by Kandi Steiner

SBPRBANNER-WhatHeDoesntKnow-ReleaseBlitz

What He Doesn’t Know by Kandi Steiner
Publication Date: March 15th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Photographer: Perrywinkle Photography, Lauren Perry
Cover Designer: Kandi Steiner

WHDK cover FINAL_1

On the northeast side of town, there is a house.

The house was once magical, filled with love and joy and plans for the future.

Inside its walls are many things that belong to me — my books, the china from my mother on my wedding day, the beautiful cage once home to two birds, now empty, just like me.

And a man.

A man who also belongs to me.

A man I no longer wish to keep.

A man who, no doubt, has not slept, though the sun is rising. Because the house where he waits is where I laid my head to rest every night for eight years. Until last night.

No one who knows me would believe Charlie Pierce, the quiet, bookish girl who never made waves is pulling out of the driveway of a man who isn’t her husband.

But they don’t know me at all.

I don’t even know me.

Not anymore.

They say there are two sides to every story, and I suppose in most cases, that’s true. But the one I live inside of? It has three.

On the northeast side of town, there is a house.

But there is no longer a home.

Now Available Horizontal

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

What did I just read?!?! Somebody, please tell me, because my mind is completely blown, my heart shattered in pieces. I know I can count on Kandi Steiner for an angst-filled romance, but I seriously think that What He Doesn’t Know tops them all.

Kindergarten teacher Charlie is miserable in her marriage, and has been for quite some time. The devastating reason behind it could be a trigger for some, so reader beware. But the avalanche of events that has led to her sad marital state is so damn relatable. One day, Reese reenters her life in the last place she ever imagined seeing her best friends brother, the boy her teenage self once loved: Reese has moved back home and is now teaching at the same school. As they rekindle a tentative friendship, Charlie begins to smile again for the first time in five years. And when she realizes that she never got over Reese, nor he her, the guilt practically eats her alive.

Until the day that the threads holding together Charlie and Cameron’s marriage snaps, and she runs to Reese’s arms.

I had a slight issue with the fact that Charlie was married, and Reese didn’t really care. Cheating isn’t normally a trope I care for, but I love Steiner enough to give it a go. And I am so glad that I did. Thus story wouldn’t work the way that it does if the heroine was NOT married. The emotions that Charlie goes through as she examines the state of her marriage, the reactions her husband Cameron has and how he has been dealing with their problems, and the two twists towards the end of this book… it all just plays into the beautiful angst that is this story.

There are three sides to every story. And I cannot wait to see how this one turns out! Thankfully, the second part of this duet is out in just another week! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Leslie A. Kelly
(Hollywood Heat #1)
Published by: Forever Yours
Publication date: March 13th 2018
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

In the first book of a thrilling new romantic suspense trilogy, USA Today bestselling author Leslie A. Kelly shows just how hot – and how dangerous – Hollywood can be.

In the shadows, someone is always watching

Aspiring screenwriter Jessica Jensen grew up on movies starring heartthrob Reece Winchester, the eldest brother of a Hollywood dynasty. She never thought she’d meet the man in person, though. Actor, director, millionaire, and gorgeous mystery man-he’s every woman’s fantasy.

Reece wants Jessica the moment he sees her, and he’s a man who always gets what he wants. At first he was only after a night in her bed, but as he comes to know the smart, confident woman beneath the stunning exterior, he realizes once will never be enough.

Unfortunately, Jessica’s real-life Cinderella story is about to take a deadly turn…

Reece’s world is filled with fierce ambition and dark family secrets the Winchesters desperately want to hide. But he and his brothers aren’t the only ones who know those secrets. Someone else is out there, waiting to strike. Waiting-and always watching.

When danger finally steps out of the shadows, Reece will have to face his past. And Jessica will have to decide just how far she can trust the man she loves with her heart…and her life.

Jess was so lost in thought about Reece the superstar she forgot the man was in the room, and that she’d imagined he was staring at her. Which was perhaps why she nearly dropped her glass when she felt a tall, solid form move behind her and heard a man say, “Interesting.”

Smooth voice. Deep, silky. A voice she recognized. She’d heard it on the big screen and the small one, since she had copies of every movie he’d starred in—seven from his childhood years, eight from his adult ones. Was he really talking to her?

“Yes, it is,” she murmured, all calm and collected, like she was not shaking in her consignment store shoes.

“Possibly one of the artist’s earlier efforts.”

Hmm. How had he known? “Yes,” Miss Conversational Genius repeated.

“I’m not interrupting, am I?”

The hint of confidence in the tone told her he knew the answer. Had any woman ever told him to go away because he was bothering her? Huh. Doubtful. “Not at all.”

“Good. What is it called?”

“What we’re doing? I think it’s a conversation.” Jess didn’t know where the snarky response came from, or where she’d gotten the nerve to be all quippy with the guy, but there you go. That was her, always a mouth-off away from catastrophe.

“I meant the sculpture,” he said. No laugh. No humor. Crap.

Realizing they were actually going to have a conversation, and knowing it might require face-to-face interaction, she wondered if she was ready for it. Hesitating, she licked her lips and replied, “It’s called Naked Man.”

“Subtle.”

Knowing it was rude not to face him, she took a deep breath and glanced over her shoulder. Lord have mercy.

Deep breaths might be calming in normal situations—like when one was confronted by a repo man repossessing a car. Been there, done that. But they didn’t work at all when looking into the clear amber eyes of a man every woman on the planet fantasized about. His looks made you silently gawk while you tried to figure out why the arrangement of cheek and jaw, mouth and eyes, was so arresting and unforgettable. She interacted with scruffy, shaggy-haired surf-bum types in the bar where she worked, so she’d almost forgotten how appealing a conservative haircut and a smoothly shaven face could be. Not to mention the sexiness of a perfectly tailored power suit, the charcoal color interrupted only by a splash of red in the necktie.

She finally cleared her throat and pushed a few words out. “It is from very early in the artist’s career. How did you know?”

“She draped the sex organs, as if she wasn’t quite ready to go there.”

Jess nodded, wondering if she was truly talking about men’s packages with the sexiest freaking man alive. Was this really happening, or was she hallucinating? Had that stupid bartender slipped GHB in her drink? Damn, if she woke up tomorrow with no memory of what happened, and then found videos of herself on YouTube, she would rip him a new one.

Stephanie strolled toward Mac, a mischievous glimmer suddenly brightening her gorgeous blue eyes, putting him on alert. “I’d like to attend the Masquerade party at The Players Club on Saturday, to get a better feel for the club and what other fantasy elements might work for your members.”

He stiffened at her unexpected request. The temptation of having her in this domain—wanting her but refusing to touch her—wasn’t something he wanted to endure. And watching her possibly hook up with someone else, like Rick? Complete fucking agony.

He shook his head. “I don’t think attending the Masquerade party is necessary. I’m sure you can come up with a few other ideas without being here when everything is in full swing, which is probably going to be more distracting, than helpful.”

“What if I want to be here?” the little vixen proposed, her voice holding a hint of a challenge. “You know, to mix a little business with pleasure?”

His expression remained composed, his resolve, firm. “I’m going to have to say no.”

She tipped her head to the side, studying him much too astutely. “I can always get an invitation from Jillian, you know,” she said as she came closer and closer.

“No, you can’t,” he countered. “I put a freeze on any new invitations until I’m done going through the current membership.”

She laughed softly, huskily, the sound like a stroke along his cock. Much like her hand was suddenly stroking down the length of his tie before giving it a playful tug. “Do I make you nervous, Mac?”

His hands curled into fists in his pockets, because it was taking extreme effort not to grasp her face in his palms and kiss that soft, plush, impudent mouth of hers—hot and hard and deep. “Do I look like a man who’d be intimidated by any woman?” he asked, his voice surprisingly steady.

She thought about that for a brief moment before giving her hair a subtle toss and replying. “Intimidated, no.” Then a sexy, knowing smile curved her lips. “Nervous, definitely, because if you weren’t a little uneasy about whatever this thing is between us, you wouldn’t have an issue with me coming to the Masquerade party and being at the club.”

“The last thing you make me feel is uneasy.” Instead, her presence had lust pumping through him like a heady surge of adrenaline. She was certainly testing his control.

Her free hand came back up and splayed on his chest, the heat of her touch searing him through his dress shirt. “If I don’t make you nervous, then prove it,” she cajoled. “Let me come to the party on Saturday. I promise not to be too shocked by what I see.”

His jaw clenched as she met his gaze and held it, so bold and brazen when she really had no idea what she was messing with, or what he was capable of. This woman was no shrinking violet, and she was the furthest thing from the kind of submissive, obedient female he preferred—and Jesus, Christ, his dick was hard as stone for her. This was a woman who liked having the advantage, who enjoyed a little power play, and fuck if that didn’t make him want to pin her against the wall behind her and make it very clear who really had the upper hand between them.

“So, what will it be, Mr. MacMillan?” she murmured huskily. “Inviting me to the club on Saturday, or are you going to chicken out?”
