Sunny Shelly’s Review: Breakaway, by A.M. Johnson

Title: Breakaway
Author: A.M. Johnson
Genre: Sports Romance
 Release Date: March 15, 2018
Blurb
As Tampa Bay’s star center, Mark Carmelo’s life was hockey, and after a
bitter and public break up, all he wanted to do was focus on the game.
Until he saw her.
The one that got away.
The one he thought he’d never see again.
For thirteen years, Stevie West drowned in her lackluster life.
Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready
to start over. On her own.
Until she ran into him.
The same man she’d met one year ago.
The temptation that had finally given her the courage to find herself
again.
When lightning strikes twice, there’s no way to deny the chemistry it
creates.
But with both of them still nursing old wounds, Mark and Stevie will
have to find a way around the other’s defenses, a way to breakaway and score
the one thing they never expected… love.

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

What a heartwarming story about two broken souls finding their way to one another. A year ago, Mark and Stevie met at a bar and spent a few stolen hours together. He never expected to see her again, so when their paths do in fact cross a year later, Mark jumps at the chance to get to know the one who got away.

Hockey star Mark has some trust issues, thanks to a rather public breakup, but in Stevie he finds a woman who shows him that he can and should trust again. Stevie has had a rough go of things herself since she last saw Mark, but she is ready to put the past behind her and move on with her life. Although they hit some speed bumps along the way and her past threatens to destroy their future together, Mark and Stevie are a wonderful couple worth rooting for. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
