Fierce
L.G. Kelso
(A Whatever It Takes Novel)
Publication date: April 3rd 2018 (re-release)
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Sports

Three years ago, Tori beat the wrong man. Her MMA training partner, nursing a bruised ego, snapped—shattering her trust and confidence.

Now, she’s putting herself through college, avoiding all things fight related, and keeping her fists to herself. That is, until her uncle’s failing health draws her back to his gym and her old pounding grounds. With her demons still haunting the cage, she’s determined to keep up the wall she’s so carefully constructed between the past and present.

Until pro-fighter Max Estrada saunters into her life.

The temptation to go glove-to-glove with the sexy Columbian is too much, drawing her back into the world of MMA—a world where her ex-partner reigns as current Middleweight Champion. The secret they share is a liability to his career, and he’ll do anything to keep her quiet. If she wants her old life back, and a future with the fighter she’s fallen for, she’ll have to do more than just survive. With her life on the ropes, she’ll have to face her past and fight like she’s never fought before.

EXCERPT:

The alcohol probably wasn’t helping. The side of the bathtub, cool against the back of my legs, felt as if it would fall out from under me as I stared at the water pouring from the bathtub’s faucet and over the cuts on my leg.

I went to scrub the soap into the cuts, but my wet shirt kept getting in the way. Every time I moved, it stuck to my skin.

Wrapping the hem of my long shirt around my fingers, I lifted the shirt up, over my head—

“Woah, there, Tori. What are you doing?”

“It’s in the way!”

“No, it’s not,” Max said as he yanked my shirt back down.

“It’s wet.”

“Well, yes, it is. You can go change in a second. Tori, put your shirt down.”

“Why?”

He sighed. “Because you’re drunk.”

“You’ve seen me in a sports bra.”

“Which you are definitely not wearing right now.”

His reaction was making my skin burn again, but this time, I couldn’t figure out why. Was it because he so didn’t want to see me without a shirt? Was it that bad? I mean, compared to Cheyenne sure, but still.

“The idea of seeing me shirtless is that awful, huh?”

He tugged. I rolled forward, giving up the shirt.

“That’s—no.”

“I know I don’t look like your lingerie model of a girlfriend, but jeez.”

“Tori.” The conviction in his voice made me stop blabbering like a damn idiot. His fingers found my chin and tilted my head. He was so close. The brown of his eyes were darker in this light, making his eyes look like black pools.

“Should you ever wish to yank your shirt off in front of me when you’re sober, I definitely will not stop you. It would be the opposite of awful.”

Had he gotten closer? And what did he mean by opposite of awful?

His lips were swollen; he must have taken one hit to the mouth before knocking the other guy out.

The alcohol didn’t do as much to my brain as being around Max did. Everything about him teased me in some way. His adrenaline teased out my own. I wanted to pull him against me. I wanted to find someone to fight in an octagon. I wanted to be me again, whoever that was, and I wanted to be it with Max.

“Tori,” he said again, and I tore my gaze away from his mouth and back to his eyes. A wave of shivers started at the top of my spine, my skin prickling as it passed through the rest of my body. The look in his eyes…it was quite possibly the best thing I had ever seen.

He continued a moment later. “But right now, you are drunk. So your clothes are staying on.”

Now Live: Something So Unscripted, by Natasha Madison

Title: Something So Unscripted
Author: Natasha Madison
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: April 2, 2018
Cover Design: Melissa Gill at MGBookCovers
Zack

Finding my teammate in bed with my wife made the decision I had been fighting with for years easier.

It’s time to move on.

A fresh start and a new NHL team in a big city. Most importantly, it’s my son Jack’s best shot.

It would be both of our best shots.

Denise

After a bad childhood, I made sure I would succeed, so I lived for my job.

The problem is I die a little with each patient I lose. It’s part of my career at Hudson Children’s Oncology Hospital, but it doesn’t make the sting of loss any easier.

Seeking anything other than a life saved isn’t on my agenda until a NHL player walks into my hospital with his son.

We’re officially off script the moment we meet.

If this love is anything, it’s unscripted.

“Zack.” I hear her voice and just look at my wife. The woman who said she would love me in good times and in bad yet is currently holding a sheet to cover her naked body. The four-carat engagement with matching eternity wedding ring glistens in the light. “It’s just …” she starts to say, and I look over at the man in bed next to her. In our bed.

“It’s over.” I say the two words I swore I wouldn’t say no matter how hard it got. No matter how much I saw her push me away, no matter that I always suspected she was cheating on me. Then I look over at the man who I called a brother, the man who stood by my side on and off the ice. “You’re scum.”

“It just happened,” Colton says, getting out of the bed. At least he’s wearing boxers. His knee is still wrapped from the operation he had last month, which is why he wasn’t on the road with us, which is how I surprised them.

We were on the road for the whole week and due back tomorrow, but I hightailed it out of there to get home to my family and my son. “It just so happened you walked into my house and slept with my wife?” I ask him, and I have to wonder why I’m not more pissed, why I’m not more angry with them. “You come here and sleep with my wife with my son under the same roof.”

“Zack,” my wife says, and I look over at her again. Tears are rolling down her cheeks, her perfectly made up face now streaked with the black mascara she always wears. “Please let’s …”

I shake my head, putting my hands in my pockets. “Let’s what? Let’s talk about this?” I throw my head back and laugh. “Let’s talk about the fact that our son is in his room dying. Let’s talk about the fact that instead of helping him, you’re just helping yourself. Let’s talk about the fucking fact that instead of being there by his side with me, you chose to escape the fucking reality that our son won’t make it to six years old.”

“No.” She shakes her head, and I know that I’ve about had it.

“I’ll give you an hour,” I tell them both. “One hour and I want you packed and at the door when I come back.”

“But—” she says.

“But nothing, Chantal. You did what you had to do for you, and now I’m doing what I need to do for our son.”

I turn and walk out of our bedroom, then down the winding staircase that leads to the big brass front doors. Once outside in the warm Arizona air, I take my phone out of my pocket and call the only person I know who has my back no matter what. My agent and best friend, Jamie.

He answers after one ring, and it doesn’t surprise me he sleeps with his phone in his hand. “What’s up?” he says, his voice sleepy since it’s four a.m. in New York.

“I want out of Arizona, make the trade. Call the powers that be; I want out,” I tell him, getting into my Range Rover.

“You can’t just demand that,” he says, and I hear sheets rustle.

“Just walked in on Colton fucking my wife, so you can bet your ass I can. Make it happen. Call New York because it’s the only place I’ll go. I don’t care if I take a pay cut.”

“That fucking scumbag,” he says. “I’ll call them now.”

“Jamie, there is a top-notch doctor who specializes in cancer in New York. Max Horton’s sister,” I tell him quietly and slowly drive out of my gate.

“I’ll make it happen,” he says softly. “I’ll let you know what they say.”

“Jamie, I’m leaving here in a week regardless of what they say,” I tell him and disconnect the call.

“One week,” I say to myself. “One fucking week.”

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…

Bobby’s POV excerpt:
The radio started blasting when she fired the ignition. Her cheeks turned red as she rushed to turn it down or off or to another station.
“What was that?”
“You’ve never heard of Justin Timberlake? Are you too cool for him?”
“That was not Justin Timberlake.”
“Yes, it was.”
“If you say so.” Here’s the thing, I knew it was Justin Timberlake, but it was also the other guys he was in the boy band with. It wasn’t cool and manly for me to know that, so I bit my tongue.
“It was *NSync,” she let it out in a rush, like she couldn’t contain it any more. It made me smile, especially when she kept talking. “I am not ashamed. They are the best boy band who ever lived. Don’t come at me with talk about Backstreet Boys or One Direction either. It’s nonsense. As far as I’m concerned, the only groups who come close to their level of awesomeness are The Beatles and The Jackson 5. But they were both a bit before my time.”
I smiled and waited, hoping her passionate rant would continue. The look on her face when I admitted I agreed with her would be worth it if she felt like she’d somehow earned my compliance on the issue. These were the fun conversations we were good at having.
“What? Do you have another group in mind?” Her gaze left the road for a second to turn to me, so I straightened my face. I didn’t want to let her in on my secret just yet. Plus, I wanted to see how she’d go on.
“There are plenty of groups out there. There’s New Edition, 98 Degrees, New Kids on the Block, and Boyz II Men to name a few. But none of them compare to Justin, Chris, Joey, Lance, and JC. None of them.”
A huff of air came out before I replied, “Oh yeah? What about those long-haired gods, Hanson, who played their own instruments? And who else could make a song called MmmBop popular? Now that’s talent. Or, speaking of talent, what about the Jonas Brothers? Those purity-ring wearing momma’s boys were even in some movies! Real star power with those ones.”
“You know far too much to pretend you didn’t know that was *NSync. You’re a huge fan, aren’t you?” She was laughing at my pseudo-rant.
“No! I mean, yes, but you know, it’s JT.” I laughed along with her. “Not as big as you evidently, but I do love your passion.”
“Well, I can’t hide it, so you’d better get used to it. It is what it is.” When she looked at me at the red light, I let her see my smile. The charming one I couldn’t hold back from those people I actually enjoyed being around.
“Can I hear the song you were jamming out to?”
She smiled back and hit play, letting Tearin’ Up My Heart blast.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: A Little Spark, by Amy K. McClung

Title: A Little Spark
Author: Amy K. McClung
Publisher: Hot Tree Publishing

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: March 31, 2018

Blurb

Sparks fly when sassy firefighter Jilli meets her
match in Amy K. McClung’s enemies-to-lovers romance.

When Sam and Jillian meet, the snark and sparks start to fly. Despite their
intense attraction, words and actions are misunderstood, and miscommunication
is rife. Will their stubbornness be their downfall or the start of something
extraordinary?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

This is the kind of feel-good book that is an enjoyable read on a rainy afternoon. Jillian and Sam get off on the wrong foot, and the insults just go back and forth between them like crazy. But behind those barbs, somewhere in between his drunk fall, a last-minute wedding date and an alien invasion, there was an explosive attraction just simmering underneath the surface. And when these two finally got together, the spark between them was unstoppable.

Even when Jillian tried to push Sam away, he stuck to it, knowing that what they had was worth fighting for. He proved over and over again what a gentleman he was. This story was sassy and sweet, emotional and heartwarming. I fell in love with Jillian and Sam immediately, and loved the supporting characters Harrison and Carrie as well. Just an absolute delight.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Our Unscripted Story

Title: Our Unscripted Story
Author: L.A. Fiore
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 29, 2018

Blurb
Greyson Ratcliffe. I met him at sixteen,
the hot new guy sitting on my jetty, an aspiring artist just passing through.
He was my first kiss and my first love. I wanted forever with him. I didn’t
even get a year.
Five years later, I’m a budding writer who scripts stories
of love and struggle, the good and the bad and the ups and the downs. He’s a
star on the rise; his wicked talent and crazy good looks have his face
plastered on countless magazines. We move in two different worlds and still our
paths cross again. We’re older and wiser and as crazy about each other as we
had been as teenagers.
My medium is words and my imagination is limitless, but not
even I could have written the incredible journey we traveled to reach our
happily-ever-after. Life isn’t like fiction, and the greatest love stories
don’t follow a script.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

What an incredible story. Alexis and Greyson go through so much to get their HEA. This book is full of ups and downs, but the love that these two share — a love that stars with a single glance when they are teenagers — is never broken. Even when Grayson makes the biggest mistake of his life, he does so because of the intense love he has for Alexis.

Alexis is so incredibly strong. Even when she thinks she’s floundering, I love how resilient she is. Time and time again, she gets up after being knocked down, and from the moment she meets Grayson, he’s there by her side. I love how devoted Greyson is to her. Even during the years that they spend apart, he remained true to the love of his life that he met when he was only 18 years old.

Our Unscripted Story is an epic romance full of heart, family, faith, love, and a wonderful happily ever after. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Marlena

Everyone has their limits. Mine? It’s one that should have never been crossed. Now thanks to my ex-boyfriend, all of Hollywood thinks I trade sex for roles. You can imagine how my auditions go these days. This town has enough real scandals without him adding fake ones to the mix. But I have a plan. And it was going so well… until Jude Fisher came along.

Jude

When my ex-wife sold the footage of herself cheating on me with another man, I was done. With scandal, with her, with all the fakeness this industry thrives on. Finding her as the only actress up for co-lead in my new BDSM movie was the last thing I needed. Then Marlena Taylor auditioned, and I found everything I need. A gifted actress, a natural submissive… and a woman I can’t resist.

All she’s missing is knowledge about the lifestyle–my lifestyle.

I’m more than happy to tutor her–to show her the ropes, if you will. I’ll teach her everything about the games. The toys. The dynamic.

I’ll teach her everything but the sex. That’s my hard limit.

But we’re quickly finding out that there’s no limit to what’s between us.

Meet Katana Collins:

When Katana Collins was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse… she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.

So, now, she writes those romance novels she craved to see on the shelves all those years ago—the sassy heroines. The badass heroes. Since penning her first romance novel back in 2012, she is now an international author with 15 published books and counting.

She lives in Portland, Maine, with an ever-growing brood of rescue animals: a kind of mean cat, a really doofy lab, a very mellow chihuahua, and a very not mellow cairn terrier puppy… oh yeah, there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too. She can usually be found hunched over her laptop in a cafe, guzzling gallons of coffee, and wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.
