BLURB:

Jackson Waller has loved Maggie Keene since they were six years old, but their dueling dreams ultimately tore them apart. First love—true love—wasn’t enough to overcome their individual desires to pursue dreams on opposite coasts. When Jackson learns of Maggie’s tragic death on her way to college on the east coast, his heartbreak, compounded by grief, renews his focus on his own future. He vows to do nothing but work toward his goal of becoming a doctor, and maybe enjoy the companionship of his new college buddies, The Dogs.

Maggie Keene left Cliffside Bay with two things: a broken heart and her ambition. For twelve years she relentlessly pursues her dream of a musical theater career in New York City, but when she learns her father is dying, she returns home to find the truth about her family’s ugly past. There, she discovers two things that will change everything: one, the bitter old man has spread a wild rumor that she has been dead for over a decade; and two, Doctor Jackson Waller is also back in Cliffside Bay—with his brand-new fiancée.

The second installment of The Cliffside Bay Series by bestselling author Tess Thompson follows the interwoven stories of five best friends, the beach community they love, and the women who captivate them. Prepare to get lost in a wave of small town charm, men you would love to take home to your mother, and smart, resilient heroines you wished lived next door.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Deleted is an absolutely heartbreaking — yet so inspiring — story of faith, love and second chances. Jackson and Maggie are kept apart for YEARS by a cruel lie, and the anticipation of the day that they will again cross paths had me on the edge of my seat.

Jackson has never really been able to get over losing the love of his life. He’s never been able to move on, because a big part of him refuses to believe that Maggie was actually dead. But despite that niggling feeling in the back of his brain, Jackson pushes himself to fulfill his dream of being a doctor. Maggie, meanwhile, has felt for the past 12 years that she’s been “deleted” by everyone she used to know; they’ve all cut her out. But when her father’s death brings Maggie back home again, the truth comes out and Jackson and Maggie learn that what they were led to believe was not at all the reality of the situation. Will they get a second chance?

Deleted is part of a series, and while it is a standalone, there are some bits and pieces of the story that I didn’t fully understand having not read the previous book in this series. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

He’s the best quarterback in the AFL. She’s a young woman desperately in need of a fresh start. Neither expects to fall for the other. Will he finally put love ahead of his career? More importantly, can she trust him with secrets so deep her very life depends on them?

About Tess

Like most of her characters, Tess Thompson hails from a small town and will always feel like a small town girl, despite the fact she’s lived in Seattle for over twenty-five years. She loves music and dancing, books and bubble baths, cooking and wine, movies and snuggling. She cries at sappy commercials and thinks kissing in the rain should be done whenever possible. Although she tries to act like a lady, there may or may not have been a few times in the last several years when she’s gotten slightly carried away watching the Seattle Seahawks play, but that could also just be a nasty rumor.

She currently lives in a suburb of Seattle, Washington with her brand new husband, the hero of her own love story, and their Brady Bunch clan of two sons, two daughters and five cats, all of whom keep her too busy, often confused, but always amazed. Yes, that’s four kids and five cats. Pray for her.

When I was a wee lassie, I was told by my preschool teachers that I was a natural at storytelling. When I was just a little older than that, an old friend’s mother said to me, “Kelsey, one day your books are going to be on the shelves at the library.”

Well, Diane, I don’t know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I’m sure as hell going to try.

When I’m not writing stories destined to be bestsellers, I enjoy devouring TV shows, listening to every type of music there is and going to concerts, reading pretty much anything (with a soft spot for romance and certain books located in 18th century Scotland), obsessing over makeup, and pretending to workout.

I also have a fondness for cats, my family, tattoos, and a really good French fry.

Sunny Shelly Reviews Free At Last Box Set, by Annie Stone

Mackenzie Hall loves Carter Tillmann. Carter loves Mac. When she meets Hunter, she isn’t so sure anymore, who owns her heart. Her head wants stability and safety, but her heart might not be on board with that.

Hunter can’t live with the uncertainty and follows his own dreams, but those aren’t only life-changing for him. When he leaves, Mackenzie understands that her heart is stronger than her head. But now it’s too late, Hunter is gone. Will they find each other again?

***
This box set includes
1.a fighting chance
2.a losing battle
3.a saving grace

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Free At Last boxed set contains the three books in this series by Annie Stone; I read them continuously in the box set, so the story was broken down in three parts.

I don’t normally like books with cheating, but there was something about the blurb for this story that sucked me in and I wanted to give it a try. And I am so glad that I did. The journey that Mackenzie and Hunter take from start to finish was a real rollercoaster, but they both do so much growing, both within themselves and as a couple.

When we first meet 17 year old Hunter, he is an angry, arrogant teenager, immediately hating his dad’s much-younger girlfriend just because she IS a girlfriend, and not his mother. Mackenzie is much younger than her boyfriend Carter, and at 25 is closer in age to his teenaged sons, Hunter and Carey. Both boys immediately hate her, and they treat her rather horribly. But Mac gives them reason to see her in a new light and something changes in the way that the three of them connect and interact. Carter being out of town a lot leaves the door wide open for more interactions with his sons, but things are totally on a proper level. At first.

Slowly, Hunter realizes that he’s fallen in love with Mac, but that he can’t have her because she is his father’s girlfriend. Without getting into a plot rehash, I did think that the progression of Hunter and Mac’s friendship-to-romance happens organically. We see the deterioration of her relationship with Carter, and how Hunter and Carey are always there to pick her up. The story spans several years, which makes it all the more excruciating when Hunter blocks Mac out, first because it’s too painful to be around her and then — after they share one amazing night and declare their love for one another — because of a huge misunderstanding. You just want them to work things out and get back together, but he completely ices her out!

There are a lot of potential triggers in this story, as it covers themes of rape, depression, and attempted suicide. There are some passages and dialogue that are a bit clunky, I think due to the translation from this German author. But that didn’t stop me from tearing through this entire book in a single Saturday. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

One day, Carey goes out with Dad. I have no idea what they’re up to, but I don’t really care. I sit out on the porch with my headphones on, listening to Avenged Sevenfold, a beer in hand, the sun beating down on me. It’s awesome, and life is good.
Until something steps in front of the sun, blocking the light. I open my eyes and squint.
Mac. With the sun behind her, she looks like she has a freaking halo. She’s a goddamn angel.
I must be drunker than I thought.
I take off my headphones. “What?”
Oops. That came out harsher than I intended. She narrows her eyes at me. When she would have shrunk back before, there’s fire in her eyes now. Which makes me go hard immediately.
“Don’t take that tone with me, mister.”
I smile at her ridiculous use of mister. “Sorry, Mac.”
That immediately makes her soften. “Okay. You’re forgiven.”
I shake my head in amusement. “What can I do for you?”
“Much better, thank you,” she says. “I was just going to ask if we should fire up the barbecue. I could use a steak.”
“Great idea.” I get up and stretch, which makes me tower over her. She’s not small for a woman, but she’s still tiny compared to me. Out of the corner of my eyes, I can see her observing my naked torso. And I can’t say I don’t like it. Trying to hide my smile, I flex a little. Her cheeks redden in response. I love it.
But it makes her scurry back into the house, so I let my laugh out as I go start the barbecue. With perfect timing, she comes back out with the meat just as the barbecue reaches prime temperature. So I throw the meat on and close the lid.
Mac sets the table and brings out salad and bread. Then she sits down and grabs my earphones. A smile starts on her face, and her head bobs up and down. It’s adorable.
Fuck! I need to stop using such fucked-up words to describe my dad’s freaking girlfriend!
When I finally set a steak on her plate—medium-well—she takes the headphones off. “I love them.”
“You like metal?” I ask, skeptical.
She shrugs. “I’ll listen to anything. I’m not into one particular genre.”
“Cool,” I mumble. And it is. The more I learn about her, the more I like. “I mostly listen to metal.”
“I know.” She smiles. “It drives your dad nuts.”
I laugh. “Yeah. My old man is definitely not a fan.”
She shakes her head and puts a piece of steak in her mouth. A drip of juice runs out the corner of her mouth and down her face. I watch it drop off her chin and land on her breast.
“Oh,” she says, grabbing a napkin to wipe it off. My mouth goes dry.
But all I see is her touching her tits. Maybe I’m visually impaired, but… It is all…I…can…see. Her hands…on her tits.
When she puts down the napkin, I take a shaky breath and say, “I think you missed a bit.” She runs the napkin across her body again, and I enjoy the show. My dick doesn’t, though. He wants to be let out.
“Did I get it?” she asks, looking down at her chest.
I nod, even though I could keep watching her for hours.
“Oh, good. I’m such a messy eater.”
Gulping, I try to tame my racing heart. “So, uh, where are Dad and Carey?” I ask.
She skewers a piece of cucumber with her fork. “There was some trouble with Carey enrolling at the new school. I wasn’t really listening, but I think some documents were missing.”
“What about me?”
“No problem, I guess. No idea.”
I shrug. Whatever. “So why are you home so early?”
She shrugs, rubbing her napkin at a new drop of steak juice on her cleavage. I guess tits are like a catch basin for all kinds of shit. “I need to write some stuff,” she said, “and I focus better when it’s quiet.”
“What kind of stuff?” The words feel far away, because my eyes are still glued to her tits. But I’m still managing to keep up with the conversation. My dad would be so proud. Oh, wait…maybe not, considering the subject…
“We’re making a new brochure, and I was the final choice to write it up.”
“Wow,” I say, finally meeting her eyes. “Out of how many people?”
She pauses for a moment. “Just me.”
I smile, and she laughs, a bit embarrassed. “That makes more sense.”
“You’re so mean!”
“What? You volunteer to do things nobody else would. Just because you like doing things for other people. It’s nice.”
“Ugh! Nice?”
I laugh. “I thought nice was a good thing!”
“Nice is totally boring.”
“No way,” I say, shoveling steak in my mouth and trying not to glance down to see how her tits are faring. “Nice is good.”
“Okay. Then you’re really nice, too, Hunter. Such a nice boy.”
I pull a disgusted face. She got me. Nice sucks. “I am not nice.”
“Ha!”
We both laugh about the absurdity of our conversation, and she is so damn beautiful when she laughs. So indescribably beautiful. And I don’t think she’s ever been this relaxed around me before.
I love it. And, incidentally, so does my dick.

I’m a contemporary romance writer, who likes her men tattooed, her women independent and her coffee strong.

My stories are all about love, but some are of the romantic kind, some of the sad kind and others of the very steamy kind. So if you can stand drama, foul language and sex, you came to the right place.

Love, Annie

About Three Day Fiancée:

Helicopter pilot Taylor Blankenship’s time schedule is maxed out. Between his job, his eighty-pound slobbering mess of a dog, and his matchmaking grandmother, he has no time for anyone or anything—especially a woman. If only there were a way to get Grams to back down.

The job of New York City dog walker suits Caitlin Ramos perfectly while she preps for her CPA exam—steady, scheduled, and requiring very little human interaction; a huge seller since she’s still on the mend from a toxic relationship. Men suck. Especially her bossy, hot client with the Saint Bernard that thinks it’s a lap dog. No way will she go for his plan to pretend they’re engaged to get his grandmother off his case. Down, boy.

Offered a bargain she can’t refuse, Caitlin finds herself playing the part of fiancée to Taylor. Fortunately, it’s only for three days. All she has to do is fake a relationship with Mr. Bossy Pants in front of his entire family, survive a fierce game of truth or dare with an unscrupulous pair of octogenarians, endure a one-on-one round of Twister with Taylor, and not lose her heart to a guy who turns out tobe a lot more than she’d bargained for.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Caitlin liked to snap the leash on Beauregard, a huge Saint Bernard, at exactly seven. Labeled a problem client, Beau was on his third agency and had blazed through a fair share of walkers, the latest of which was Rick, a co-worker from Animal Attraction. Caitlin and Beau had hit it off immediately, and he’d never given her any trouble, so she’d found Rick’s stories of the dog’s misbehavior hard to believe. She checked her phone when she pulled out her keychain. She still had one minute. At least one thing was going right—she was on time. She slid her key in the lock and froze.

Bark-bark! Crash.

She’d never known Beau to break anything before. Heck, he usually just laid around and slobbered. Sometimes even getting him to go out for a walk took a treat or two.

Crash. Thump-thump-thump. Ahoooooooo! Woooo! WOOF!

Great. A cold shower, stubbed toe, blown breaker, no caffeine, close encounter with a garbage truck, soggy feet, wet hair, and now this. Whatever this was.

A chill shot down her spine as she lifted her hand to knock, then stopped. Beauregard’s owner was never home at this time of day. He left for work before she arrived. What if someone had broken in?

Her fingers tightened on the key as she debated whether to call 911 or go tell Fred in the lobby.

“Beauregard, stop! Sit! Stay!” a male voice shouted from inside. Well, at least it wasn’t a burglar unless he was doubling as a dog trainer. Score one in the win column this time. She relaxed fractionally, silently unlocking the door and opening it just a crack to peek in.

Oh, man. Score ten in the win column.

The hottest guy she’d ever seen was chasing Beauregard around the living room wearing nothing but a bath towel—and the towel was hanging on for dear life…not that she blamed it; she’d hang on to that fine backside for dear life, too, given the chance. He was tall, with dark hair and a build that was lean and toned and screamed long-term gym membership. She bit back a laugh as Hot Guy and his six-pack abs hurdled the coffee table in an attempt to catch Beau, who lumbered to the far end of the room, drooling. She might have been drooling, too as he lunged for Beau and missed.

“Look don’t touch.” Yep. And she was getting a good look. She grinned, realizing her crap day had finally turned around.

And then a couple of things happened at once. Beau noticed her in the doorway and launched toward her at full steam, no doubt to give her his customary slobbery greeting with uncustomary zeal. As the dog passed the center of the room, Hot Guy reached out and grabbed his collar, causing the muscles across his broad chest to bunch up as he attempted to slow the dog—the attempt didn’t slow anything, especially Caitlin’s heartbeat. The day had done a total one-eighty. Win all around. No need for caffeine now.

“Woof!” Beauregard barked.

Yeah, woof! Caitlin was too stunned to do anything but stare, heart pounding, as the dog and towel-clad Hot Guy, still clinging to Beau’s collar, hurtled in her direction like a runaway locomotive. Bring on that train wreck, universe.

It was obvious Hot Guy hadn’t noticed her until that second, because his brown eyes grew huge as Beau reared up, his paws landing on her shoulders, tongue nailing her cheek as she slammed back against the doorjamb.

“Oh, shit,” he said, only inches from her. So close she could smell his aftershave or soap or whatever mouth-watering scent clung to his body. Releasing the dog, he tightened the towel and took a couple of steps back. “I’m sorry, I…”

Caitlin strained to peek around Beau’s huge head as the guy backed up another step and gave a smile. “I didn’t see you there.”

Well, no way could she say the same, and she certainly wasn’t sorry. Heck, the last few minutes warranted completely forgiving the universe for conspiring against her all morning.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Ilsa Madden-Mills has a knack for young adult love stories, and I Dare You was everything I expected from this author.

Maverick has always had a thing for Delaney, but it takes a dare for her to finally see that he’s not like the other college athlete that broke her heart. I love that Maverick isn’t just a dumb jock, and Delaney is such a sweet heroine, she stole my heart. Mav is actually quite mature for his age, which I so appreciated. There are too many dumb college jocks in this genre, but IM-M wrote a strong, sweet hero.

I Dare You has the right amount of angst, lots of playful banter between two wonderful characters, and a hero who will do anything to protect the women — Mav’s little sister included — he loves, even when it comes to giving up his dream of the NFL. This was a delightful, easy read that any sports fan or YA fan would love. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Bro Code, by Kendall Ryan

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a flirty new standalone about falling for your older brother’s best friend.

There’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.

Don’t be a douche.

Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.

Ava’s brilliant, sharp-tongued, gorgeous, and five years younger than me.

She’s the sexual equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. And completely off-limits.

Falling for her could ruin everything.

Yet I can’t seem to stop, even when her company is threatened by a lawsuit, and my promotion hinges on representing the opposing client—and winning.

I can’t see a way out of this mess that doesn’t end in a broken friendship, a broken heart, or a ruined career.

I may have broken the bro code when I fell for Ava. But do I have the balls to handle what comes next?

Kindle US | AMAZON UK | iBooks | B&N | Paperback

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Don’t fall for your best friend’s little sister.

It’s a simple rule of the bro code, but we all love to read a good romance where that’s exactly what happens! And I loved Barrett’s attempts to not fall for smart, sassy Ava! This story was so much more than just the two of them — who have always had a crush on the other — fighting their feelings for one another. The attraction crossed over into their professional lives as well, creating a bigger conflict than just how Ava’s brother/Barrett’s best friend Nick would react. Her father’s business is facing a lawsuit, and Barrett’s promotion hinges on winning a big case for his client — which just so happens to be the opposing side!

On the surface, this story is a forbidden romance because of Nick’s connection to them both; but really, I’ve yet to read a book where that actually prevents the couple from sticking it out! Falling in love with your brother’s best friend happens all the time IRL. I had a bigger issue with the way Barrett withheld some details from Ava, but he turned it around in the end and redeemed himself. Overall, Bro Code is an easy, enjoyable, low-drama read.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

About UNBREAK MY HEART(Coming 8/13/2018):

From #1 New York Times bestseller Lauren Blakely comes a new standalone romance as you’ve never seen her before. Filled with raw emotion, heartbreak, hope, and humor too, UNBREAK MY HEART explores how to heal, how to live, and how to love.

I didn’t break her heart, and she didn’t break mine — we broke each other’s.

I never stopped loving her, but time and distance played its cruel role in ripping us apart three years ago when she moved halfway around the world. Now after all those endless miles away, she’s returned . . . but I’m not the guy I was before.

Beautiful, kind, and loving, she’s the same — my hope. The only one who can make a day better, who can make me feel again with one kiss, one touch, one night.

There’s so much I have to put back in place now that I’m alone and on my own. Things I never wanted at the age of twenty-five. When I receive an unexpected letter that might hold the clues to everything I desperately need to understand about my family, I’m sure I have to follow it. But that means leaving her once more.

She says she’ll come with me, and having her by my side will unbreak my heart . . . or destroy it.

That’s the chance I have to take.

Title: Crazy Hot Love

A Dirty Dicks Standalone Novel

Author: K.L. Grayson
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Cover Design: Kari March Designs

Release Date: May 22, 2018
Blurb
Claire Daniels is good at a lot of things, but
dating isn’t one of them. Although she enjoys men of all different shapes,
colors, and sizes, she has one requirement: they must have a job on her
approved-occupation list. It has to be safe, so they can come home every night,
which means no cops, pilots, doctors, ranchers, and absolutely no
firefighters.
She’s kept to her rules thus far—as long as
you ignore the tiny crush she has on Trevor Allen, a crush that cannot move
toward anything physical because Trevor is a firefighter and a rancher.
Not to mention, he’s four years younger than she is and the brother of her two
best friends.
Still, it sure would be nice to have him put
out her fire.
Trevor Allen also has a few rules when it
comes to Claire Daniels: no staring, flirting, smokin’ hot fantasies, or
touching of any kind. He’s been lusting after Claire his whole life, but with a
steady stream of willing women and two demanding jobs to hold his attention,
he’s somehow managed to keep his hands off her.
Until they end up in a bathroom together—a
small bathroom with very little room to move, leaving him pressed against
Claire’s lush curves. What’s he supposed to do when she looks up at him with
those big, green doe eyes and licks her lips? The only thing he can do: kiss
the hell out of her, then convince her it can’t happen again.
Too bad he can’t convince himself.

Author Bio
K.L. Grayson resides in a small town outside of St. Louis,
MO.  She is entertained daily by her
extraordinary husband, who will forever inspire every good quality she writes
in a man.  Her entire life rests in the
palms of six dirty little hands, and when the day is over and those pint-sized
cherubs have been washed and tucked into bed, you can find her typing away
furiously on her computer.  She has a
love for alpha-males, brownies, reading, tattoos, sunglasses, and happy
endings…and not particularly in that order.
