How dirty will a player play to get the woman of his dreams?

Dirty Player was an enjoyable friends-to-lovers romance set in the sports world. Julia and Greg have been friends since high school, and they are now in the pro sports industry, where he’s a star hockey player and she’s a sports reporter. But Julia’s always had a hard time being taken seriously in her field, so her one hard and fast rule is no dating athletes. But when Greg forces Julia to make good on a yearbook promise to kiss him at their 10-year reunion, the sizzle between them is undeniable. Will Greg be able to get Julia to break her rule or will they forever be just friends?

I really liked the sizzle between the characters. Their relationship was built on a strong friendship, and that really shines through. And Greg really has the patience of a saint, because once they do get together, Julia is determined to keep their relationship a secret so it doesn’t negatively impact her career. But that decision also leads to some cracks in their relationship, and it was engaging to see how these two work through their difficulties.

Overall, Dirty Player is a fun, rather quick read. A perfect friends-to-lovers romance to read on a summer afternoon. And there were a few nice scenes with Hank from the last book in the Back To You series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

I had some issues with this book, but I’m a big fan of this trope — the guy’s a manwhore because he’s in love with his best girl friend, whom he doesn’t think he’s worthy of being with — so I plugged on through to see where it goes. The story between Ash and Sadie sucked me in from the start, but there were a few things that really aggravated me.

Sadie was a complete doormat in regards to her father. The man was basically pimping her out to her ex, even after she caught the guy with his assistant, all to keep up appearances. Rather than tell Daddy Dearest where to shove it, Sadie cows to him, and then got mad at Ashton for having her back. There is more than one scenario where Sadie really needed to man up and didn’t, but at least she comes into her own by the end of the book.

The other thing that bugged me is how Ashton took out his anger at a situaiton on Sadie sexually, even after she was telling him that she wasn’t ready for more. It was borderline creepy and assault, and I really had a hard time with that particular scene.

Still, those two incidents aside, I greatly enjoyed this story. I liked the relationship with Sadie, Aston and his sister, and really felt Sadie and Ashton’s anxiety over whether or not to move out of the friend zone into something more. The OW drama with his ex gives this story just the right amount of conflict, and everything is tied together nicely at the end with a HEA bow.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

This book was absolutely brilliant. Hate sex at its finest! The over-the-top antics and game of one-upmanship between next-door neighbors Lilith and Will had be laughing out loud chapter after chapter. The snarky comments and their nicknames for one another — like Demon and Wonka — were just barely surpassed by the sexual fantasies Will and Lilith have about the other. It all leads to a combustible, scorching hot romp where straight-laced, anal-retentive, bowtie-wearing Will turns out to be one helluva dirty talker! Who knew?

But as enjoyable as the snarky banter is, Sundays Are For Hangovers also has depth to its storyline: Both Lilith and Will are trying to move on from their past. Lilith was raised in the lap of luxury, and is desperately trying to stand on her own two feet and get out from beneath her controlling father’s thumb. It takes awhile before we learn what led Will to being the neatfreak overachiever that he is, and thanks to Lilith’s Daddy Dearest, Wonka’s past threatens to ruin their future.

Sundays Are For Hangovers is the perfect escape read. I can’t recommend this book enough. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

Last Chance To Fall is the third book in the Kinney Brothers series and what a sweet romance it is! Sean is the “good boy” of the bunch — he was always hesitant to take risks and played it safe because his brothers were always risk-takers.

Lindsay is also a play-it-safe girl, but her world is flipped upside down when she catches her ex cheating on her in their bed. She gets fired up (literally!) by burning their mattress, which leads her to meeting Sean. There’s an immediate connection, but they are both hesitant to jump into a relationship. Instead, they agree to spend a week pushing boundaries and stepping outside of their comfort zones. Doing the opposite of what they would normally do. And a beautiful relationship blossoms. Sean is such a sweet soul, a total romantic. This story is sexy and sweet, and an all-around feel good read.

When I was a wee lassie, I was told by my preschool teachers that I was a natural at storytelling. When I was just a little older than that, an old friend’s mother said to me, “Kelsey, one day your books are going to be on the shelves at the library.”

Well, Diane, I don’t know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I’m sure as hell going to try.

Slowly, my heart pounding against my ribcage, I turn around and prepare to make my way back down the path. Except, Toby comes bounding up and starts to bark.

Dammit!

Daniel freezes on the spot. His eyes crash into mine, and if I was scared before now I’m practically peeing myself. He straightens himself to his full height, still glaring at me, not saying a word.

Toby keeps barking, but he’s also wagging his tail. I grab hold of his collar and fasten the lead. “Sorry to disturb you.” I bite at my lips. “We’ll get out of your way.”

He arches an eyebrow. “So, you weren’t following me?”

“Oh, God, no. We were just going for a walk.”

I’m still staring at his tats, trying to decipher the intricate patterns. He catches my gaze, and I feel my face burning up.

“Get on with your walk, then,” he says through gritted teeth. “Leave me alone.”

My fingernails dig into the palms of my hands. “No need to be bad-mannered.”

He crosses his arms in front of his broad chest and lets out an edgy laugh.

“You are a prick,” I spin around, “the rudest man I’ve ever met.”

He laughs again and keeps laughing mockingly as I stride off down the pathway, Toby at my heel
