Sunny Shelly’s Review: Beautiful Desire by Ashley James

BEAUTIFUL DESIRE by Ashley James is NOW LIVE

Blurb:

When I find out I could lose my bookstore, I make a deal with the devil to save it, not realizing I would end up in bed with the last person I ever thought I’d be hot and sweaty with…

Fletcher St. James

Even at twenty-four, he’s a spoiled brat. He believes the whole world owes him something, and he really needs to be put in his place.

When his wealthy, power-hunger father propositions me with something I desperately need in exchange for teaching his son a little responsibility, it’s an offer I can’t refuse.

After all, there’s nothing I enjoy more than humbling an arrogant man and bringing him to his knees.

This should be a piece of cake.

But one thing I didn’t expect was how much Fletcher would enjoy it… Or how much that would turn me on. The tension quickly boils over, and before I know it, we’re giving in to our illicit desires, consequences be damned.

I crave the feeling of his body against mine, and the needy sounds he makes right before he begs.

But more than that, I can’t get enough of the little things, like the way the golden sun looks reflecting off his green eyes in the morning, or how beautiful his vulnerability is.

And when his touch becomes my safe space, bringing out a softer side of me I’ve kept locked away for too long, it’s impossible to remember why this is wrong.

When the secrets come out about the lascivious things we indulge in behind closed doors, will it be worth it, or will this deal end up costing me everything?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I wasn’t expecting to love Georgia and Fletcher’s story as much as I did! It’s the third book in the Blossom Beach series, and stands on its own as a reverse age gap, roommate, forced proximity story between Georgia and the family’s younger stepbrother, Fletcher.

Georgia needs to save her bookstore, and the only way to do that is to agree to have her spoiled, younger stepbrother live with her while he completes the last semester of his MBA. Fletcher’s been cut off financially by his father until he completes the program, and isn’t thrilled by the idea that he has to work at his stepsister’s bookstore in order to get half of the real estate development firm that has been promised to him. Especially since he’s always had a bit of a crush on Georgia.

The chemistry between them is charged right out of the gate. The sexual tension is simmering underneath the surface in every interaction, and it is explosive once Georgia and Fletcher finally give in. I loved the push and pull between these two. Fletcher still has that cocky, spoiled brat air about him (that the siblings didn’t like so much when he was younger) and gives off alpha vibes, but Georgia ended up being the dominant one in their relationship many times. And it took Fletcher by surprise just how much he liked being her “good boy.” But there are also some really sweet scenes where they get vulnerable with one another, and I loved those just as much.

I loved the personal growth on Fletcher’s part throughout this book. He changed so much and really put in the work to be a man worthy of Georgia’s love. Meanwhile, having been burned by a partner in the past, Georgia holds everyone at arm’s length and is hesitant to get involved with Fletcher for anything other than physical release. Their feelings kind of snuck up on both of them, and I loved how that unfolded. The narration by Erin Mallon and Sebastian York was *chef’s kiss* — the way SebYo growled out some of those scenes was hot!

Now, after that preview for Emmett and Charley’s book…. I need it! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Hockey Romance Queen Natasha Madison launches another spinoff series with Only For Tonight, and it is just as great as the books that came before it! This next-gen series features Jaxon Stevenson (son of Manning & Evelyn from Only One Night) and Ariella Weber (Ralph & Candace from Only One Kiss). Because their fathers are best friends, Jaxon and Ariella have been around each other their whole lives, but he’s seven years older than her, and lives in Los Angeles playing hockey, while she lives in NYC, so they haven’t seen each other in several years. They have a one-night stand at a charity event in Dallas (where they are both from), which results in a surprise pregnancy.

Their long-distance relationship is somewhat undefined in the beginning, and I enjoyed seeing how they navigated that. There is great chemistry between Jaxon and Ariella, and I enjoyed their banter and text messages, and how she worried about how their fathers would react to their situation. I would have liked to have seen a little more substance between these characters and less between-the-sheets scenes; one of my favorite parts was how concerned Jaxon was by Ariella’s nausea, and how he took care of her through that. His ex-girlfriend is certifiable, and leads to the drama between Jaxon and Ariella when he starts to pull away.

I thought that Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood did a great job with Jaxon and Ariella. This book is an enjoyable, low-angst read, and I look forward to the rest of this series!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Hidden Vows by Erin Graves

HIDDEN VOWS by Erin Graves is AVAILABLE NOW

Their vows were hidden in the past, but maybe it’s time to bring them into the light.

Abbey Selbey thought she met the love of her life when she was five years old, but clearly she was wrong. He broke her heart seventeen years ago, and yet no one can say she’s truly moved on. Living in the small town they grew up in, where everyone thinks they know their story, doesn’t help. But the fact he left and never looked back does.

Jude Murphy never wanted things to happen the way they did. If he’d been smarter, he never would have left Ashford Falls or Abbey, but sometimes life has other ideas. Staying away was in the best interest of everyone, even if it was the last thing he wanted.

Returning to town wasn’t part of the plan, especially with Abbey still living there, but just like life tore him away from everything he loved, it was determined to bring him back. Is it possible to forgive the past and move forward, or is the damage too far gone?

Hidden Vows is a second-chance, forced proximity, emotional, contemporary romance set in a fictional small town. It is the third and final book in the Love in Ashford Falls series but can be read as a standalone. Happily ever after, guaranteed!

What you will find inside this book:

  • Small Town Romance
  • Second Chance
  • “My Wife”
  • Forced Proximity
  • Forbidden Vibes
  • Return to Hometown

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Hidden Vows closes out Erin Graves’ Ashford Falls series, and Abbey and Jude’s story was painfully beautiful. Not only was this a second-chance story between childhood best friends and sweethearts, but it was a second-chance story for a divorced/secretly married couple, and those are my favorite kind of second-chance stories.

It’s been 17 years since Jude broke Abbey’s heart and left town, and he hasn’t been back since. (Except for one time that she didn’t know about, and Oh. My. Heart.) But when his father has a heart attack and falls into a coma, Jude receives a call that has him finally coming home. Ashford Falls is a small town, and as much as Abbey tries to avoid him, it’s impossible, especially since they end up living across the hall from one another.

There is a lot for them to go through before they can move forward. Hurt feelings, resentment, regret, guilt… and the issues with her manipulative father. I thought the pace at which the story unfolded was nicely done, and I was really rooting for Jude and Abbey to work out their issues by the time they got there.

Jude’s journal entries were really a nice touch to the “past” of their relationship. It was heartwrenching to read some of those, but they gave the relationship so much depth. Neither of them ever forgot about the other or really even moved on over the years, but finding out just how devoted Jude was to Abbey during their time apart was heartbreaking and beautiful. (I am a sucker for secret tattoos!)

Gage and Ava play a big part in this story as Abbey and Jude’s best friends, but there are appearances from Quinn and Declan as well, which I loved, having read their book.

I am sad to see Love in Ashford Falls come to an end, but I look forward to what’s next from this relatively new author! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Audio Review: Hollis by Ashley James

🎧🎧🎧 AVAILABLE NOW IN AUDIO HOLLIS by Ashley James! Narrated by the amazing Alexander Cendese and Brandon Francis! 🎧🎧🎧

When the universe hands me a hot, older, recently divorced man on a silver platter, who am I to turn down such a generous offer?

Big deal if he also happens to be my best friend’s boss.

Ford Wesley, Captain of the Wolf Creek Fire Department, is the whole package, with hair that’s a delicious mix of dark and silver strands, and deep brown eyes that hold a touch of mystery.

He’s also always been off the market… Until now.

When he gets caught in a bind and has to temporarily stay on my family’s property, I know it’s my chance to get closer to him, but I never expected it to be so easy.

One night, I match with an anonymous stranger on an app, and it doesn’t take long for things to go from innocent and flirty to raunchy and scorching.

Then when I catch a glimpse of my new neighbor shirtless one day, it becomes clear Mr. Tall, Broody, and Off Limits is the mystery man sending filthy messages to me every night online.

The best part? His profile may be anonymous, but mine isn’t… He knows exactly who he’s talking to.

The chemistry on the app morphs into a reality in the sheets…and at the firehouse, and what starts out as a secret, no-strings arrangement quickly becomes so much more. Before I know it, it’s not just his body I crave, but everything he keeps close to his heart as well.

But I’m not the settle down type, and he’s fresh out of a long marriage. When push comes to shove, will this turn into something more, or are we destined to crash and burn?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Hollis is a low-angst, low-drama age-gap story between playboy rancher Hollis and Ford, the older, recently divorced, boss of his best friend. The characters had a great connection, and I really enjoyed seeing them navigate a benefits situationship to something deeper.

I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. Having just come out of a 20+ year marriage, Ford was kind of clueless about how to go about dating. Hollis is a known playboy, so Ford was *really* hesitant to get involved with him at first, but they really brought out something special in one another. Ford knowing who Hollis was when they matched on the dating app (but Hollis not knowing who he was in return) really could have backfired, but instead it gave Hollis the opening to push Ford out of his comfort zone when it came to dating again. Hollis’ feelings for Ford kind of sneak up on him, even though he was all in long before he realized it. One of my favorite scenes was the one when he knew Ford was having a bad day and showed up unannounced with all the comfort items to just be there as a support system.

Alexander Cendese and Brandon Francis aren’t narrators I was very familiar with prior to this audio, but I absolutely loved their portrayals. Alexander really brought out that flirty side of Hollis, and Brandon brought a real vulnerable side to Ford. Well done!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Falling Too Soon was like a spicy Hallmark movie… I was really impressed that this was a debut novel from Michele Elizabeth!

After breaking up with his cheating ex a few days before their wedding, Nathan changes the reservation at the lakeside cabin he’d rented for their honeymoon…. and the place ends up double-booked because Daphne rented the same cabin to get away after breaking things off with her narcissistic ex. Their first meeting is quite the mishap with a dropped bottle of wine, but Daphne and Nathan decide to make the most of the situation…. and end up having quite the fling. But will their instant connection translate to the real world when they leave the secluded bubble and get back to their everyday lives?

As I stated earlier, I was really impressed that this was a debut novel. It was clean read, the characters were well-rounded, and the story was well-written. My only complaint was that the sex seemed gratuitous at times. I’m no pearl-clutcher, but I found myself swiping through some of the spicy scenes because it just got to be too much.

I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series and finding out who Nathan’s brothers end up with! I will definitely be looking for more from this author in the future!

I share my world with my amazing husband, a chaotic crew of five cats (you read that right) and one very ugly dog. We’re also proud parents of two grown children and grandparents to the sweetest little grandbaby. Oh, and as big-time Disney lovers, we sneak off to Disneyland every chance we get!

Reading has been my passion for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until recently that I rediscovered my love for romance novels. That spark has inspired me to write one of my own! I’m currently working on my debut novel—a heart-tugging, steamy story about an emotionally unavailable nurse whose life collides with a tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome romance author… at the absolute worst time.

Love wasn’t on the itinerary. He crashed the trip.

I’m in Paris with an offer for a career-making solo photography exhibit.

I should be floating on champagne and designer euphoria.

Instead, I’m single and alone at a Tom Selleck-themed wine bar, wondering if thirty-two is too young to start over.

Then he walks in.

Messy hair, leather jacket, a smile I feel in places I haven’t for years.

One accidental wine spill and soul-shaking kiss later…

I’m about to make the most impulsive decision of my life.

I sold my company for freedom, not to get tied down.

Working like a fool is all I’ve ever known.

I need a hard reset. No expectations. No itinerary. Just a one-way ticket to Paris and a suitcase full of unresolved baggage.

Then I see her.

A knockout with wine-stained lips and eyes that could undo a man.

Our connection is instant, magical, impossible to ignore.

I didn’t come here to fall in love.

But I’m starting to think Paris had other plans.

Boarding Pass is a full-throttle, no-holds-barred romance, perfect if you love dirty talk in French bars, sunrise sex in five-star suites, and the kind of love that doesn’t ask permission.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Boarding Pass is a charming and sweet novella. It’s only 11 chapters, but it packs quite the romantic punch and is easily readable in a single sitting.

Miles (who is Shay’s twin/Austin’s best friend from The Flirt Alert) is kind of at a loss after he and Austin sell their gaming company. He’s not sure what to do with his life now that he’s a billionaire and not staying with his company, so he books a one-way ticket to Paris, leaving his next move to fate. Meanwhile, photographer Sophie is in Paris following a breakup, en route to visiting her parents in the French countryside. After an adorable meet-cute in a Tom Selleck/Magnum PI themed restaurant (BTW, I’d totally go there!), they end up spending an incredible night together that neither of them wants to end.

The one-night stand turns into Miles joining Sophie to visit her parents — and when you know, you know. There was a nice moment where Miles acknowledged how hard he was on Shay and Austin when they told him about their relationship because he thought it was too much, too soon — and he now realized how wrong he was because of his feelings for Sophie.

This book totally gave me Before Sunset vibes, that 1995 movie with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Boarding Pass was short and sweet, but I felt like we got a full story out of Miles and Sophie, and it was just a feel-good, no-drama romance!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Last Call Home by Claudia Burgoa

From USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa comes the emotional, suspenseful, and sizzling conclusion to the Timberbridge series—where danger ignites desire, and found family means no one gets left behind.

I didn’t mean to fall for a man—let alone two at once.

Especially not in the middle of a manhunt.

I moved back to Birchwood Springs to help my mom with the bakery.

What I got was a kidnapping, a conspiracy, and two men willing to burn the world down to protect me.

Malerick Timberbridge is broody, guarded, and far too used to being alone.

Cassian Harlan is the new bartender—or so he says. He’s chaos in a tactical vest and the only one who can crack Mal’s hardened exterior.

They’ve been through hell together.

But somehow, I’ve become the thread pulling them back together.

What we have isn’t simple.

It doesn’t follow rules. It doesn’t fit a label.

It just . . . is.

They make me feel seen.

Protected.

Wanted.

But this isn’t just about love.

It’s about survival.

This is our final stand.

And maybe—if we’re lucky—it’s the start of something that lasts.

The Timberbridge brothers’ journey ends here—where found family holds strong, secrets come undone, and love refuses to ask us to choose.

This is the LAST chapter of the Timberbridge Brothers… are you ready to say goodbye? 💔🔥

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The Timberbridge Brothers series comes to a close with The Last Call Home and Sheriff Malerick Timberbridge. This book overlaps with Atlas and Kier’s books, so there are some plot points that are picked up in TLCH that aren’t necessarily fully explained. I definitely think this series needs to be read in order.

We find out what brought Malerick back to Birchwood Springs to take on the position of small-town sheriff after working for the FBI. We learn about his history with the mysterious Cassian and what the Hollow Syndicate is after. More specifically, WHO the syndicate is after. The questions and loose ends get tied up, and along the way, a nice poly relationship forms between Mal, Cass, and Delilah. I liked the twists and turns in the suspense of this story, but I really loved the character growth of Mal and Cass from the start to the end.

I really loved Jason Clarke and JF Harding as Cassian and Mal, respectively. I could listen to those two speak all day long! I wasn’t as crazy about Dominique Franceschi, and I don’t think it was her narration as much as it was the character; Delilah irked me. I sometimes got distracted during her inner dialogue, and I just didn’t find her to be as well-written as the guys.

Overall, this was a solid series-ender! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Poor, tortured Max Tailor gets his long-overdue and well-deserved happy ending in Ebbing Tides — and it is with Melanie Corbin from Spider & The Storm!

Ebbing Tides picks up 10 years after Crashing Waves. It’s been a decade since Laura and their unborn baby died, since Max lost his stepdaughters, and he’s been living a lonely existence with his dog as the night watchman at the same Salem cemetery where Charlie (aka Spider) works, and caring for his dying father. But then, one night, Charlie’s visiting sister-in-law finds her way to the guard gate, and both Charlie and Melanie immediately sense a familiarity between them. That’s because they met 10 years earlier, when Max’s car broke down in a small Connecticut town, and they spent a few hours together.

The book takes place over the course of a week, during which Melanie and Charlie agree to give in to the connection between them for as long as she is in town. But seven days are not enough for these two. But there are so many factors working against them, and it’s not just the fact that Melanie lives in Connecticut. Max is so haunted by his past — not just the loss of his wife, but the torment he suffered at the hands of his abusive father for his entire life, and never knowing why.

Even though this book takes place over the course of a week, there is so much action packed into it. And Max gets all the answers he’s been looking for as far as his parents are concerned, reunites with his stepdaughters, and gets his HEA with Melanie.

I did not realize when I read the first book in this duet who Melanie and Luke were in Kelsey Kingsley’s world — and I loved how she connected the two stories (and then even gave readers a cameo from Soldier and Rain).

Well done, Kelsey! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

After years of teaching music at the local high school, he’s roped his brothers into opening Bardot Brothers Coffee Co.—a dream that’s been put on the back burner. What he didn’t plan on was an unexpected surprise in the form of Thea Rose: the somehow cute and sexy, single mom who just moved to town… and the woman he never thought he’d see again.

Thea Rose wants to start over. Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Entirely Yours was absolutely charming! I fell hard and fast for Jules and Thea and was rooting for them to get their happily ever after!

Jules meets Thea while she’s working at a bar the night before she’s moving from Boston. He’s a musician, in town for a gig. The connection between them is instant, but their one-night stand hits a snag. A week or so later, Thea, her dad, and her adorable daughter have moved to their new town, where she’s opening a dance studio next door to the cutest cafe-in-the-making. Thea gets quite a surprise when her new neighbor looks exactly like the guy she had an almost-fling with… just without tattoos. It’s Jules’ brother, Ben, and soon Thea and Jules’ lives become intertwined.

I loved watching these two characters grow and evolve. Jules was so patient with Thea as she worked through her insecurities and the issues she had because of her past relationship with her daughter’s father. He shows up for her time and time again, and not just giving her family a place to live when their apartment floods. I loved how excited he got when Thea learned she was pregnant, and how Jules and his family took in Thea, her dad, and Chloe, and adopted them as part of their own family.

The found family, the romance between the main characters, the character development, the slow burn… this book was a delight!

This is the first book I’ve read by Rachel Lewis, and I will definitely check out the rest of this series. I read an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Chasing Forever by Piper Rayne

CHASING FOREVER is now live in Kindle Unlimited and in Audio 🤠

It was a fun Vegas getaway—until I woke up married to my ex-fiancé’s brother.

After Watson brother #1 ditched me at the altar, I stopped believing in happily-ever-afters. So I have no clue how I ended up saying “I do” to Brooks—Watson brother #2—somewhere between tequila shots and bad decisions.

Okay, that may not be true.

Sheriff Watson has been a charming thorn in my side ever since his brother left our small ranch town in his rearview mirror. He’s a little too steady, a little too sweet, and way too intuitive because he sees through my facade. But no matter how tempting he is, he’s still a Watson.

I demand an annulment. He refuses, bargaining four real dates before he signs.

Fine. I’ll sabotage each one and keep my heart safely locked away. It’s easier this way because he has no idea the secret I’m keeping.

Of course, Brooks doesn’t go down easy—he has enough faith for both of us. He tackles my fears at every turn, making me wonder what would happen if I went all in.

But trusting the wrong man once nearly ruined me—doing it again might finish the job.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Oh my heart! Brooks and Lottie’s story was perfection! Slow and steady wins the race and after loving Lottie from the shadows for years (“long before” he was allowed to!), Brooks Watson finally gets the girl in Chasing Forever.

After accidentally getting married while in Vegas, Brooks grabs hold of the opportunity he has to convince her that he’s the guy she’s meant to be with and refuses to grant Lottie an annulment until she goes out on several dates with him. Lottie, of course, wants nothing to do with being married to Brooks after the way his brother humiliated her by standing her up on their wedding day ten years prior.

Lottie’s fear about getting involved with Brooks isn’t just about public perception. She has some deep-rooted issues of not being good enough because her ex really did a number on her. And dependable, stable Brooks just keeps showing up to prove to her that she is very much quite enough for him!

After seeing all that they go through (and how much Brooks just ADORES her), it was crystal clear when we finally got to meet his brother that she had been with the wrong one the first time around!

Stephen Dexter and Vanessa Edwin brought so much to this duet narration, perfectly capturing all the nuances of the characters and their complex relationship.

I am so happy that Piper Rayne is continuing the Plain Daisy Ranch series with the Owens branch of the family tree! I can’t wait to see what comes next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
