When I Had You, an all-new single dad, enemies to lovers, sports romance from New York Times bestselling author S.L. Scott is now available!

Cash Ryatt is a distraction.

It’s no secret the bad boy race car driver has built a reputation from two things. Winning and fu—front-page headlines. I’ve read he’s the best at both, but I have no intention of finding out firsthand.

I have my own plans, and they don’t include making the gossip sites as his next one-night stand. My three older brothers, his bosses, would never stand for it anyway.

So, how did I find myself daydreaming about the one man I’ve been forbidden from dating?

His mere proximity causes my heart to beat wildly in my chest.

My knees go weak when his eyes find mine across the track.

But it’s the way he kisses me as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist that has me falling into his playboy trap.

I finally surrender to temptation, but only for one night, and for the record, there was no standing involved except against a door that got in our way.

But no deed goes unpunished. No matter how good we are together. He’s given an ultimatum. Will he take his last chance to win the world championship or follow his heart and race back to me?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Marina Westcott, the baby of the family, finally gets her happily ever. Her forbidden romance with Cash, the hotshot driver of her brothers’ racing team, is full of drama and scandal mixed with hate-to-instalove.

Marina and Cash definitely get off on the wrong foot when they first meet. She is part owner of Westcott Racing, so there is that angle to their forbidden romance, but then her overprotective big brothers essentially ban her from the track and prohibit any relationship between Marina and Cash after an intense family dinner. But Marina’s personal life is a dumpster fire — her boyfriend and co-Star cheated on her — and she calls Cash when she finds herself in a jam. Like the white knight he is, this bad boy comes to her rescue. And a wonderful long-distance friendship begins.

I really liked the development of this relationship, and how Cash really saw Marina. She felt like she could be herself around him, and didn’t have to *act* like she did with the rest of the world. There is some drama involved with his son’s mother being a difficult co-parent, but that doesn’t impact their romance. However, when Cash’s career is on the line, some things are said that he later wishes he could take back.

While this wasn’t necessarily my favorite of the Westcott series, I did enjoy the ride as Cash and Marina quickly became everything to one another.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: I Thought Of You by Jewel E. Ann

I Thought of You by Jewel E. Ann is now live!

I wanted to conquer the world.

She wanted to gaze at the stars.

It’s been twelve years since I last saw Scottie Rucker. A grim prognosis has upended my life, and no amount of my hard-earned money can fix it. So, after leaving a note on the nightstand, I search for my first love—I search for life.

When I find her in Austin, working at a quaint general store and living in an RV behind it, those twelve years vanish. She’s exactly how I remember her.

Scottie thinks our reunion is a small-world coincidence, and I’m not ready to tell her the truth. After we rekindle our friendship, she convinces me to work part-time at the store while she pursues her budding relationship with Koen, a welder and the grandson of a customer.

Scottie’s ability to live in the moment is exactly what I need. But how do I convince her new boyfriend that I’m not his competition? And what happens if my heart changes its mind?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Wow. I was expecting an angsty second-chance romance with I Thought Of You, and that’s not quite what Jewel E. Ann delivered in this heartbreaking novel! Scottie, Price, and Koen’s triangle is definitely full of angst, and is very non-traditional… this book is full of reconnections, loving fierce, living for the moment, and the lengths one person will go to for the ones they love.

I loved the reconnection between Price and Scottie when he tracks her down 12 years after they had a summer romance. What does he want from her other than being around her? Just as Price renters her life, Scottie meets Koen. Price was always the one who broke her heart, but Koen shows her that she can love fiercely again. But will she be open to do that with Price back in her life?

There are a lot of twists and turns in this story, and parts of it had me sobbing. I Thought Of You is a well-crafted masterpiece that will make you think about your life’s purpose.

PUCKER NEXT DOOR

Sara Ney

Release Date: April 29

AVAILABLE IN KINDLE UNLIMITED

When a squirrel chews its way through my bedroom wall, I do the first thing any single girl like me would do: run screaming out of the house to the neighbors, begging for help.

I should mention that the house next door is full of hockey players. And when I lock eyes on rough and rugged Brodie Stockhausen—who happens to be outside brooding on the porch—I’m not exactly impressed.

But I’m desperate, in a bathrobe, and needa bit of rescuing.

Soon I’m begging for his help with more than just squirrel duty and DIY projects. I want his attention and his touch—not just his friendship!

I want what every girl wants: him lying in his bed at night, so desperate for me that he’s willing to scale two stories to sneak into my window. Hey, a girl can dream…

But Brodie has a secret; one that leaves me wanting more every time we’re together but has him pulling away…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Lizzy and Brodie’s story was adorable! It had so much heart and humor, and I was laughing from the start when Brodie rescued Lizzy from a squirrel.

Lizzy is quirky and fun. Brodie is a little grumpy, and rather insecure about being a virgin. I love a strong, sensitive hero, and Brodie had that in spades. They are total opposites, but their slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance was so much fun.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Hearty by Carrie Aarons

Hearty by Carrie Aarons is now live!

They say you can always go home again, but for August Percy, that didn’t apply even when she had to live there until her eighteenth birthday.

After saying goodbye to a toxic childhood, she never planned to look in the rearview. Until the death of the woman who caused all her trauma forces her back to Hope Crest.

With a mountain of debt and an uncertain future, August at least has a soft place to land when her former employer and surrogate big brother offers her a house that isn’t chock full of nightmares from the past. What she never bargained for, though? The boy-turned-man she’s always crushed hard on from afar accidentally becoming her roommate.

Evan Ashton is the prodigal son who finally came home … even if he didn’t necessarily want to. As the new head chef of his family’s fourth-generation restaurant, he’s trying to build his own legacy in a line full of stubborn men. So when he ends up under the same roof as the closed-off woman the rest of his siblings seem to know so well, Evan attempts to shut down any curiosity since he can’t afford more complications in his life.

Except conversations over late night snacks, having her unexpectedly working in his kitchen, and inevitably bumping into her at every family celebration they’re both invited to only seems to bring him closer to August … until all of that tension bubbles over.

Then danger begins to close in, and it’s not even a thought of putting himself between her and the threat. But secrets beyond either of their control, and opportunities far from Hope Crest, begin to cause cracks.

And when both of them question whether their intense connection can last for longer than right now, it may just be their final undoing.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The Ashton Family series comes to a end with a roommate romance between youngest sibling Evan and August, the former Hope Pizza waitress who went off to college and never planned to return to Hope Crest.

Evan has always had a chip on his shoulder, feeling that he has a lot to prove as not only the baby of the family but as the only one who is following in his dad’s footsteps as a chef. But Evan is a classically trained chef who has worked in some of the best restaurants in the world, and he faces resistance from his dad at every turn as he’s trying to evolve Hope Pizza to keep up with the times. When Auggie went off to college on a scholarship, it was an escape from the trauma she’d endured her entire childhood at the hands of her abusive mother. She never planned to return to Hope Crest, but she’s been forced to come back to town after her mother dies to settle her affairs.

Through a comedy of errors, both August and Evan end up sharing his sister Alana’s old house. She’s always had a crush on him, while Evan resents her in a way because his family thinks so highly of August. He doesn’t quite know what her home life was like the way his parents and Warren and Alana do, so Evan doesn’t quite understand why she’s such a golden child to them. There’s a lot of tension between them — sexual and otherwise — and it was a trip to see how these two go from kinda-enemies to so much more.

What I loved is how a switch flipped for Evan after they finally bang it out — and he was all in way before August was. When her mother’s past comes back to haunt her, Evan steps up for her big time as a protector. And eventually, August begins to trust that she can rely on the Ashton family to be there for in ways that her own flesh and blood never was.

I really enjoyed the journey that these two characters took!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
My Dearest Mackenzie is a wonderful contemporary love story with an over-40 hero and 38-year-old heroine connected through a series of love letters their grandparents sent to one another during a very different time. I adored Mack and Feisty Frankie’s story, and how this loner billionaire with a complicated family history fell for a spitfire of a woman who would not take no for an answer.
Mackenzie Miller is a bona fide bachelor, married to his work running his family’s beauty empire. He was abandoned by his mom, cast aside by his father, and raised by his grandmother. Those abandonment issues run deep, and Mack never planned to settle down. Then one day, Frances Burns literally steamrolls her way into his life, determined to discover the connection between her beloved Paps, Jimmy, and Mack’s grandmother, Rosie, aka Milly.
At first, Mack wants nothing to do with Frankie and her stack of love letters, but because he finds her attractive, he indulges her mission… Mack could not predict how much of an impact Frankie would have on his life — and how much the forbidden romance between Jimmy and Rosie generations ago would end up impacting Milly’s future. I loved the journey these two characters took together, the slow burn as they fell in love. Mack didn’t show his vulnerable side to many, but he let his guard down around Frankie and he becomes a better man for it. My favorite part was how he called her Frances because no one else did, and that was just his.
My Dearest Mackenzie was a wonderful story of two very different romances, set decades apart, and I enjoyed it very much! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Mr. Wicked by Marni Mann

Mr. Wicked by Marni Mann is now live!

An alpha billionaire dedicated to no-strings pleasure. A woman committed to changing his wicked mind. Together they ignite a steaming-hot romance by the USA Today bestselling author of Mr. Hook-up.

Grayson Tanner has had better days. Coming off the successful international launch of Hooked, the hook-up app he cofounded with his two best friends, and a night with one of the sexiest women he’s ever met, he’s now in a PR nightmare. A video of him has gone viral—a toast to the indulgence of bachelorhood. It’s a bad look for the creator of the app’s marriage arm. As memberships plummet amid a media firestorm, his PR firm has a new narrative to quell the flames: Grayson has to get married. Fast.

Hello, Jovana Winters—social media influencer and Grayson’s former one-night stand. The one-night stand he has yet to move on from mentally. Their immediate connection is undeniable. In front of the camera, they’re charismatic and passionate, and social media is calling them the It couple. But off camera, Grayson doesn’t trust women or believe in commitment.

Jovana is the opposite, a believer in love who knows what she wants. Now she’s on a mission to turn this fake marriage into the real deal, even though she’s hiding the biggest secret of them all.

But with a man like Mr. Wicked, it won’t come easy.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Mr. Wicked was SO FUN! This book follows Grayson, one of the partners of the Hooked app, and Jovana, an influencer, with whom he had a hot and combustible night. (Except Jovanna doesn’t do one-night-stands, and she’s rather ticked off to find out that’s all he wanted, despite the sizzling chemistry between them.)

A while later, Grayson ends up going viral when he’s on video talking about being the ultimate bachelor…. Which would not at all be a big deal if he wasn’t one-third partner of a dating app. The solution for the PR mess is to have Grayson “fall in love” — and Jovana ends up being his fake wife.

I love Jovanna. She was fiery, and not afraid to speak her mind. She definitely kept Grayson on his toes, and gets him to open up in a way that he never has with another woman. I have a soft spot for playboys who fall hard for the right woman, and it was a trip to see Grayson fall for her. He was so adamant that he did not want to get attached, and he tried so hard to stay aloof… but Jovanna made him feel all sorts of things, and it was wonderful seeing him come to terms with how much he hated that she made him feel all these big emotions. And then ultimately give in, of course!

Mr. Wicked is the second book in the Hooked series, and while there is crossover from other characters, it stands on its own.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

Playboy Wes heads back to Boston, his hometown to stop his ex, Mandy, from getting married. She was his high school girlfriend and has always been his “one that got away.” To win Mandy back and make her jealous, Wes convinces his old frenemy, Clare, to fake date him. Welp, take one guess how that works out for him…

I liked the frenemy-to-lover vibe between Wes and Clare. They had great banter, and I loved how snarky they got with each other. Wes is a bit closed off at first, but we get to see him open up as he spends more time “fake dating” Clare. And even though it was his mission to win back Mandy, he can’t get Clare out of his mind. I actually enjoyed seeing how confused Wes was about his feelings for both women, and how he worked through all that.

Falling For Her has all the tropes I love and enjoy. However, I should have heeded Kelly Elliott’s recommendation that this series be read in order. Even though Falling For Her is a standalone, I felt a bit lost at times since this series is new to me.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Learn Your Lesson by Kandi Steiner

Learn Your Lesson by Kandi Steiner is now live!

My mother only wanted me to learn one lesson growing up…

Men are trash.

Her father left her, and then my father left us. Being raised by her and my grandmother, I was surrounded by the reminder to be independent and guard my heart.

After my one and only experience with a boy in college fell flatter than a pancake, I realized they were right — and I was content to live the life of a twenty-six-year-old cat lady.

Until Will Perry blew my quiet world to smithereens.

Starting goalie for the Tampa Bay Ospreys and the kind of hot that scrambles your brain, all I was ever supposed to be to him was his daughter’s kindergarten teacher. Then, in a twist of events, his temporary nanny.

But temporary turns to permanent, and when I move into his pool house, everything changes.

He’s impossibly grumpy and focused on only two things: hockey, and taking care of his daughter. I’m only focused on using this new income to pay back my student loans.

But in that house, I feel his heated gaze beneath that permanent scowl, the way it lingers and warms my skin. And though I know my mother would lose her mind if she knew, my dreams have become midnight fantasies about my long-haired, muscle-lined mystery of a boss.

When the tension becomes too much, we break, and we make a deal.

He still needs a nanny. I still need a paycheck and for my matriarchy to not disown me. But Will agrees to teach me everything I’ve always wanted to learn, and I’m all too eager to be his student.

I can do this. I’m a grown woman. I can explore my sexuality with the hottest goalie on earth and still remain one-hundred percent professional. And I can definitely do it all without catching feelings.

I have to.

Otherwise, I’ll end up heartbroken in my mother’s arms while she shakes her head and asks me if I’ll ever learn my lesson.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Dang, Daddy P and Chloe were ON FIRE! I will not be able to look at a popsicle the same way again!

Single dad/nanny, widow, grumpy/sunshine, nanny, hockey star, love lessons — this book had it all. But Learn Your Lesson was so much more than that. This book was full of spice, sure, but it was also a rather emotional tale as both Chloe and Will fell in love and found something in the other that they never expected. I loved the double meaning behind the title — sure, Will gives Chloe lots of seggs lessons, but he learned a few lessons himself along the way as he opened up to her and let his heart get involved. Chloe really helped Will (and by extension, his daughter Ava) come to life again.

Hannah Chiclana and Max Lindsey are both narrators I have never listened to before, and I wasn’t sure how much I would like the audio for this book. But you know what? It didn’t matter one darn bit because they brought it all to the table and told Will and Chloe’s story perfectly!

Learn Your Lesson is part of Kandi Steiner’s Kings of the Ice series, but I don’t see how any other hero can be more of a king than this guy was!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Dead to Rights by Jessica Prince

Title: Dead to Rights
Author: Jessica Prince
Series: Ashland

Spicy Small Town Romance, Opposites Attract, Romantic Suspense, Bad Boy Biker

When I caught my husband having an affair, I picked up what remained of my tattered pride and broken heart and left the city behind, heading for a small town where motorcycles outnumbered cars three to one.

Ashland, Tennessee was where I planned to start over and become the woman I wanted to be; a woman who was fun and just a little bit reckless. The need to break out of my shell led to one wild night with a man I never planned on seeing again. But when the tattooed stranger showed up unexpectedly at my new job, he made it clear that once wasn’t going to be enough for him.

As the president of a motorcycle club with a checkered past, Courtland Pope should have scared me, but no matter how hard I tried to stay away, the pull to him was too strong to ignore.

However, when old rivalries breach the surface and the line between good and bad begins to blur, I find myself stuck in the middle. And as much as Pope wants me, he might not be able to protect me from the past.

**Ashland is a BRAND-NEW series of interconnected, standalone, small town romances.**

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Dead to Rights kicks off a new series from Jessica Prince. Pope — aka Courtland Pope — is the president of a MC (but Jessica Prince said that this won’t necessarily be a MC series). Lennon is new to town, having recently gotten divorced, and they have a hot one-night-stand her first night in town. They cross paths again several weeks later when Pope arrives at Lennon’s school to pick up his niece.

I liked this book, but I didn’t *love* it. I struggled a bit with Pope and Lennon falling hard and fast, because I didn’t feel it. There is a connection between them, sure. And there’s lots of spicy scenes. But I didn’t get that sense of head-over-heels-love between them. Despite that, I did enjoy the alpha male vibe that Pope gives off, and how he’s a good guy who has done some questionable things to protect the people he loves.

Overall, I thought Dead to Rights was a fun read, and I look forward to what comes next in the Ashland series!

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Just This Once by Lena Hendrix

Just This Once by Lena Hendrix is NOW LIVE

Whip King cannot be the man for me.

Cocky, pierced firefighters are perfect for late-night rom-coms, but in real life they’re nothing but trouble. Especially when you find out they work for your dad—after you’ve already slept with them.

Moving to my parents’ small town was supposed to be the fresh start I was looking for. When a disastrous Valentine’s Day leads to an unexpected encounter with a sexy stranger, and ends with the hottest night of my life, I didn’t think I would ever see Whip again.

Imagine my surprise when one of my sixth-grade students has a medical emergency and it’s Whip who shows up, looking hot as hell, to save the day. I should be embarrassed at how we left things, but instead I’m furious he doesn’t seem to remember me.

So I scrape my pride off the floor, lift my chin, and pretend there’s nothing between us. But that can last only so long. Stolen glances melt into forbidden touches, and once we give in to temptation, we can’t keep our hands off each other.

Nothing has ever felt so right, but my guarded heart won’t let me believe in happily ever after with a man like him. Opening up to Whip may be the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and every time we agree to one last time, we both know it’s a lie.

How many times can we keep telling ourselves just this once before we realize that, when it comes to love, once is never enough?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Blazing Stars

Whip King is on fire! Just This Once kicks off a new series from Lena Hendrix, a spinoff from the Sullivan Brothers series. And man, does she deliver a hot one with this hero! It’s not just the dirty talking and the piercing that make Whip King hot… it’s the vulnerability he ends up showing with Emily, how in-tune he is with his feelings and knowing that he has baggage from his mom leaving the family when he was a kid… that all made him a hero i fell in love with.

Emily was such a great heroine, too. She was sassy and spunky, and I loved everything about her. Their meet-cute on Valentine’s Day chowing down on chocolate in the candy aisle of the local convenience store may be one of my favorites! That leads to a hot one-night-stand that neither one of them can get out of their minds, even weeks later. After a few more run-ins around town, Emily and Whip pick up where they left off as friends with benefits, but as the summer days grow longer, so do their feelings for one another.

I thought that Lena Hendrix really knocked it out of the park with Whip King, and I honestly don’t know how she is going to top this one when she gives us the rest of the King brothers!
