This book blew me away. I’ve read several books by RC, and they were light-hearted stories that had funny, quirky characters. Good Samaritan is a more serious book, and not your typical romance. It’s gritty, it’s intense, and it will restore your faith in humankind.

Jude is homeless by choice, paying a self-inflicted penance for a horrible tragedy five years earlier by going around the city doing good deeds. He crosses paths with reporter Faith when her car runs out of gas, and a tentative friendship forms between them that is strengthened when Jude is befriended by Faith’s friend, Father James. But when Faith’s next assignment is to expose the city’s Good Samaritan, everything changes between them.

This was such an amazing story of forgiveness, love, judgement, unconventional family and simple kindness. The connection between Jude and Faith was immediate and I fell in love with them instantly. Jude doesn’t feel he’s with being loved, and Faith has lived her entire life not being “enough.” But together, they are magnificent.

We should all take a page from Jude’s book. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

NOT A STANDALONE! CLIFFHANGER!!

When I read Lisa Suzanne’s Destiny trilogy last summer, I was at first torn over whether I wanted Brian or his brother Mark to win the girl. But by the end of that series, I was #TeamMark and HATED Brian for being such a D-canoe. I seriously didn’t know how he could redeem himself in my eyes. He was that much of an arrogant ass.

It Started With A Lie is set three years later, and Brian is still pretty much a lying, manipulative asshole. But his lies are also causing things to financially spin out of control at his company, so he hits up silent partner Mark for another loan. But instead of just writing the check, Mark sends in a fixer, the beautiful Vivian. And Brian hates it. But he won’t tell his partners the trust about the financial disaster they are facing. So he pretends that Viv is his new girlfriend and hopes that they won’t catch on.

So… by the end of this book, I was an anxious wreck! The story is solely told through his POV, so the reader sees the shift in him as he goes from an obnoxious, lying playboy to someone who is terrified of the feelings that he’s developing. Feelings that he thought would forever be dormant. Brian grows so much after meeting Viv and completely changes! But is it too little, too late?

There is something holding Vivian back from starting a relationship with Brian, and it has nothing to do with crossing professional boundaries. I rightly suspected what her problem is… and now I need to wait for the sequel to find out what happens next!

I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance, and The Vow delivers. Elsie and Brett had a secret fling years ago (because her best friend/his sister wouldn’t approve) – and then he just up and left her one day. Seven years later, she’s still harboring a lot of anger and hatred for the guy who stole her heart, and he’s hiding a major secret. But when Elsie is more or less stranded far away from home in New York City, Brett is the only other person she knows, and their lives intersect once again. But this time, he’s not going to walk away from the best thing that ever happened to him.

The Vow puts a fresh spin on the typical second-chance/enemies-to-lovers romance thanks to the backdrop of a reality TV program. And there are lots of interesting supporting characters and secondary storylines. I hate when falling for your best friend’s brother is considered a “forbidden” romance, but in the eyes of Brett’s sister/Elsie’s best friend, their relationship was taboo. So there’s they had that to conquer. But overall, it was a highly entertaining story of second chances and overcoming obstacles.

If you are a fan of instalove stories, The Stud is definitely worth a read. It’s not just Logan’s horse farm that is full of studs… he’s quite the stud himself! The minute he meets Lucy, he’s attracted to her… and they fall into bed pretty quickly after that!

This book is a great fluff story; it’s not too deep, there isn’t much angst, and it’s full of sexy with a cute ending. I received and advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
