The first time I met my best friend’s boyfriend, he was rude to me.
Sure, Gabriel Francis was all cheekbones and dishevelled hair with a voice that made women swoon and incited bidding wars with record labels. A pure drop of light in a sea of grunge. The soul of a romantic poet.
None of that swayed me though.
I didn’t trust rock stars.
Besides, he was off-limits.
But as Annika’s infatuation grew, and we were forced to spend more time together, I became enamored with Gabriel, too.
A friendship was forged, and we became each other’s muses.
My art. His music. An artistic collaboration, nothing more.
Until I heard the lyrics to his new song. So eerily familiar. And just like that, my dreams were shattered. Fate had done me dirty, and I tried my best to forget him.
Even so, I couldn’t help wondering, How much would you risk for a once in a lifetime love?
I DREAMT THAT YOU LOVED ME is an angsty, emotional, rockstar romantic standalone set in New York City in the 90s.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Wow, I Dreamt That You Loved Me was intense! From the moment Cleo and Gabriel first met, it was intense between them. And unbeknownst to either of them, the universe had them cross paths two years before her roommate began dating him. This story starts out with Cleo trying to keep her distance, but turns into something so much bigger because she and Gabriel just can’t stay away from one another. There’s no cheating — they don’t get involved until after he’s ended things with her roommate — but it’s so clear that Cleo and Gabriel complete one another.
Set against the backdrop of NYC in the 1990s (which I loved!), Cleo and Gabriel are living life to the fullest, full of hope, dreams, and enjoying each moment with their twin flame. That all changes in an instant when Gabriel has a medical issue that shakes Cleo to her core. Their story then takes a brutal turn and becomes about a marriage in peril, a couple on the brink of divorce, and whether or not it can be saved.
Along the way, and during their separation, both Gabriel and Cleo do a lot of soul-searching and “finding themselves.” It’s heartwrenching, but so necessary for them to move forward after the crisis they face. It’s brutal and gritty, but it’s a gripping story and Emery Rose did a great job with this couple.
