BLURB:
My life had been built on a foundation of tragedies, but nothing could have prepared me for the worst one of all. The one that should have sent me over the edge.
But I had made a vow to my wife to live β¦ whether she was here or not.
For ten years, I got by on a steady routine, and I wouldβve been content to live the rest of my days just like that. But then, my fatherβthe source of my childhood traumaβneeded me as his caregiver.
And I jumped at the chance to finally receive the love Iβd craved in my youth.
And when a mystery woman from the past stumbled back into my life, along with her three little boys β¦ I jumped at the opportunity to convince her I was worth taking a chance on, too.
If only I could be so lucky β¦

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Poor, tortured Max Tailor gets his long-overdue and well-deserved happy ending in Ebbing Tides β and it is with Melanie Corbin from Spider & The Storm!
Ebbing Tides picks up 10 years after Crashing Waves. It’s been a decade since Laura and their unborn baby died, since Max lost his stepdaughters, and he’s been living a lonely existence with his dog as the night watchman at the same Salem cemetery where Charlie (aka Spider) works, and caring for his dying father. But then, one night, Charlie’s visiting sister-in-law finds her way to the guard gate, and both Charlie and Melanie immediately sense a familiarity between them. That’s because they met 10 years earlier, when Max’s car broke down in a small Connecticut town, and they spent a few hours together.
The book takes place over the course of a week, during which Melanie and Charlie agree to give in to the connection between them for as long as she is in town. But seven days are not enough for these two. But there are so many factors working against them, and it’s not just the fact that Melanie lives in Connecticut. Max is so haunted by his past — not just the loss of his wife, but the torment he suffered at the hands of his abusive father for his entire life, and never knowing why.
Even though this book takes place over the course of a week, there is so much action packed into it. And Max gets all the answers he’s been looking for as far as his parents are concerned, reunites with his stepdaughters, and gets his HEA with Melanie.
I did not realize when I read the first book in this duet who Melanie and Luke were in Kelsey Kingsley’s world β and I loved how she connected the two stories (and then even gave readers a cameo from Soldier and Rain).
Well done, Kelsey! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
