That was until his archenemy moved in with me. Now suddenly, Dylan’s moving in too and warning off the first guy in a long time who’s showing me interest. Could he finally see me as more than a friend, or am I just a prize to win and show off to his enemy?

I have been waiting for Dylan and Rian’s romance in the Rooftop Crew series, and I’m glad I didn’t have to wait until the very end! The tension between them was sizzling in the first two books, and it exploded in The Rival Roomies once Dylan’s childhood foster brother, Jax, moves into their apartment.

Jax asking Rian out on a date pushes her to let Dylan go and try to move on, while at the same time, lighting a fire under Dylan’s butt to do something about the feelings he has for Rian and is too terrified to act upon. Having grown up with nothing, Dylan’s friends are his family, and he’d rather sit in silence when it comes to his feelings for Rian than have a romance fall apart and lose his family.

When Rian and Dylan finally get together, it’s fire. And I love that she’s the one who pushed him to act upon it. She seemed so mousy and quiet in the previous books, so I was thrilled to see her go for what she wanted when it came to Dylan. Their chemistry was sizzling and they care for each other in such a sweet way. When it comes to their eventual breakup, it was all insecurity and fear that tore them apart, but they work through it in a mature way, and Dylan faces his fears rather than lose Rian for good.

I wish that we could have gotten more of Dylan and Jax’s history as foster brothers, but I imagine that background will be explored when Jax’s story is told. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
