Sunny Shelly’s Review: Milkman, by Shari J. Ryan

Release Date: January 17, 2019

Cover Design: MadHat Books

Everything in life was going perfectly, but then my luck expired.

It all started when I got a new job, which came with a new guy. That’s when I managed to cause an unforeseeable disaster, which took down an entire company in less than a week.
The new job, the new guy and a big mouth led to another giant mistake. Then, one more for good measure.

Flash forward a couple of weeks, and … I’ve got milk … because I’m dating the milkman, and yes, milk did his body good.

Not only do milkmen still exist, but I’ve come to learn that some women hire a milkman to deliver more than just milk.

I’m not the sharing type, but I also don’t like to cry over spilled—you get my point. So, I can either have a cow or search for greener pastures.

Depending on my decision, though, I need to ask myself if I’m prepared to tell my future children that their father is, in fact, the milkman.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Milkman is the fifth installment in Shari Ryan’s Man Cave series of standalones, and it’s another romcom full of laugh-out-loud moments, awkward encounters and a slow burn between the two main characters.

Madelyn is working at a start-up advertising company — one that has very loose morals — when she meets Wesley, a model who was famous as a child for being the “Get Milk” kid. There are a few starts and stops for the two before they get together, but even once they do, their romance is on shaky ground.

It’s not all hearts and flowers for this couple. Madelyn and Wesley’s story is a bit heavier than some of the other couples in this series. They both struggle with the paths their lives are on, and have major hang-ups about their self-worth. While there is a lot of humor in this story, there is also some deep soul-searching that the two of them must do before they can get to their HEA. I loved seeing how they both grew as individuals before coming together as a couple when the timing was finally right.

And the milk humor! I never thought I would read so many milkman jokes! The end of this story is complete with a wonderful HEA set several years in the future, where Maddy tells their daughter the story of just how she fell for the milkman.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
