Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Throughout these interconnected standalones, we have seen glimpses of burly Dante and how he pushes every one of Hayley’s buttons. Hayley, of course, is Emerson’s younger sister, and by proxy, the younger sister of all the Rascals guys. Except that Dante didn’t know who she was the very first time he met her, and was immediately smitten. So he’s kind of been tempted by the forbidden fruit that is his buddy’s off-limits little sister for a few years now. But when one of their verbal sparring matches leads to the hottest kiss either one of them has experienced, all bets are off!
I loved getting to know Dante better. He’s a product of the foster system, with no blood family, and the Rascals are as close to a family as he has. Well, them and Bull, the owner of the boxing gym he’s looking to buy. Bull saved his life as a troubled teen, and Dante wants to give back the same way. I loved how ambitious he was. For a guy with rather low self-esteem who never thought he’d amount to much, Dante is part owner of Rascals, owns a gym and is looking to buy a second. Sure, he’s not the stockbroker type that Hayley’s socialite mom expects her to date, but Dante has drive and ambition in spades. And who knew sour and salty Dante was such a sweet gentleman?!
As with most stories in the brothers best friend trope, Dante and Hayley are sneaking around, afraid of Emerson’s reaction. So when it all blows up, will Dante realize that he is a better man with Hayley, and a man deserving of her love, or still see himself as the troublemaker he’s always been told he was?
I am going to miss the Rascals! I loved this group of friends! Troublemaker is a standalone, but this group is so cool, you should start with #1 and work your way through!! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
