Wyatt was an NFL Star on the cusp of a super bowl win when he lost his wife and daughter. Four years later, he’s teaching high school history and coaching varsity football in a small mountain town when, for the first time since his wife dies, his heart skips a beat for sexy, sassy single mom Hannah, whose son is one of his students.

I really liked how their forbidden relationship was handled. Not so much that it was forbidden as it was frowned upon. The way Hannah and Wyatt are exposed brilliantly keeps on trend with today’s social media usage. There aren’t games played between these older characters, which I appreciated. And Christy Pastore really plays well Hannah’s conflict in whether or not it is too soon to be dating again, less than two years after losing her husband and Luke’s twin brother, as well as how dating Wyatt would affect her teenage son.

The First Lights was a remarkable story of moving on and moving forward in the wake is tragedy, complete with a HEA that left a smile on my face. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
