Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Scoring The Quarterback is your standard-fare YA romance between the manwhore college jock and the sweet bookworm whom he thinks he’s not worthy of. The story follows the formula, but make no mistake about it: This is an endearing, sweet tale and a slow, slow burn before Luke and Natalia realize that they’ve crossed over between friends and project partners and something so much more.
Luke’s lightbulb moment is heartwarming, but oh, how I wanted to smack him for what he did to Natalia afterwards! When push comes to shove, however, Luke really redeems himself and proves just how much he loves Natalia.
Their first kiss was movie-worthy, but I didn’t love how their second time led to Natalia giving Luke her virginity. Especially after their earlier conversations about how she wanted that moment to be something special and mean more than just sex. I wanted there to be more lead-up to that moment.
Overall, Scoring The Quarterback is a sweet and sexy friends-to-lovers romance, a perfect escape for a rainy Saturday. And it had a wonderful, years-later HEA. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.
