Second Chance Contemporary Romance
A standalone novel

Have you ever looked at someone and just knew,
knew that they were put in your life for a reason?
The one person that would be not only your best friend,
but would be your absolute everything?
That’s how I felt the first time I saw him.
That one day when a few little words changed our entire lives forever…
Don’t be Afraid, he said.
Life can change so quickly.
One moment you can be smiling and feeling as if you’re walking on clouds and the next, everything you love, everything you treasure crumbles at your feet.
I told him to fight, I told him I needed him.
We needed him.
But there are just some fights that can’t be won…
He was my angel then, and he’s still my angel now.
In a way, I believe he’s still looking out for us, giving us a future.
Sometimes it’s as if I can still feel his presence,
guiding us and keeping us safe.
So, I won’t be Afraid.
I’ll live. I’ll fight.
It’s what he would have wanted.
I’ll do it for him…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
I made the mistake of reading Don’t Be Afraid at my desk during my lunch break, and found myself fighting back the sobs that were just begging to fall. This ugly cry story is so raw and heartbreaking — it’s so easy to put myself in Sawyer’s place as she watches her beloved husband die before her very eyes all the while their first (and only) child is growing inside of her.
And as much as I adored the connection between Sawyer and Patrick, I loved that between Patrick and his best friend, Gabe, as well as Gabe’s close bond with Sawyer. It was easy to see where this story was headed, but I felt that Part 1 was so well-developed and paced just right, and the I got to Part 2 and it was just a rush to get to the end. So for that reason, I’m holding back on that 5th star. I wish that there was more internal struggle for Sawyer. The reader really got to know what Gage was feeling, but I sort of felt that I wasn’t privy to the feelings Sawyer was claiming she was having. I like to be SHOWN things like that in a story, not TOLD it. And I felt that I got to see Gabe fall in love with his best friend’s widow, but Sawyer was just kind of like “okay, sure!” when it came to moving on.
But overall, Don’t Be Afraid is one hell of an emotional read that will leave you questioning what is and isn’t fair in life, and counting your blessings for all that you have.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
