Sunny Shelly’s Review: If Love Was Fair, by Savannah Stewart

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb
Life wasn’t fair…and I’d learned that on far too many occasions.
Arbor Kenton had one goal, to flee the toxicity of her hometown. She’d thrown a
dart at a map and decided wherever it landed she would move without hesitation.

One night was all she had left before she’d hit the road and never look
back. But little did she know just how life altering that night would be.
I know I can’t ask you to stay, and you wouldn’t ask me to leave.
Colin Banks was an aspiring musician traveling from town to town
looking for his big break.
One night in a new town would end up shaking the once firm foundation
of his dreams. What he didn’t foresee is what that night would end up meaning
to him.
If love was fair, so much would be different.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

The concept of If Love Was Fair was good, but I didn’t feel that the execution of the story made it a gripping, stays-with-you read for me. I just didn’t feel the instalove between Colin and Arbor, and the time jumps in the story were a bit disjointed at times.

That said, I enjoyed the second chance romance aspect, and how the one night they spent together left such a mark on both Arbor and Colin. When they were with one another, I got all the feels. But I wanted more from her time away from Colin to show me as the reader that he was The One for her. A big pet peeve of mine is being told, rather than shown, and I just didn’t get that I was being shown how deep Colin and Arbor’s connection was.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
