What will it take for her to Just Say Yes?
Scott Taylor has the perfect life. He gets to
fulfill his dream playing professional hockey, has a loving family, and a tight
group of friends. But the one thing missing in his life is a partner to come
home to. He knows exactly who he wants to fill that position– the only woman he
has ever loved. The one who got away, who constantly consumes his every
thought. What it would take to get her to Just Say Yes to a second
chance?
Becca Phillips is an independent woman who has made her
career as an ER nurse a priority in her life. She has a loving family and a best
friend by her side, but she can’t seem to get over her first love, Scott.
Insecurities led her to break up with him years ago when he started climbing
the ranks in professional hockey and, for eight years, Becca has avoided Scott
when he returns home each summer. Can she overcome her fears and allow love
back into her life? All she has to do is Just Say Yes to the one and only man
she has ever loved.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

If you are looking for a saccharine-sweet second chance romance, then Just Say Yes is worth the read. Pro hockey player Scott is back home in Alaska for the summer after his team wins the Stanley Cup. When he runs into his teenage sweetheart, Becca, whom he’s never gotten over Scott becomes determined to win her back. As it turns out, Becca has never stopped loving him, either, and regrets that she ended things at all in the first place.

Just Say Yes is a fluffy story — there’s not really any drama, and no angst as far as Scott and Becca reuniting. The story is more about whether or not they can make their relationship work long-distance, and I easily read it in a single day (in between work and parenting duties). I found some of the dialog rather unnatural, and there were a lot of unnecessary minute details (like “I got a glass of water. I sat back down.”) that I felt added more to the word count of the novel than the actual plot of the story. But rating the book on the story alone, I’d still give it a 4. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
