All She Never Wanted is a sweet, heartfelt story about healing, moving on after a tragedy and finding love again. A year after Evie’s fiance was shot and died in her arms, she accepts a personal nursing job in North Carolina, needing to get far away from the ghosts that still haunt her in NYC. But being Landon’s personal nurse is no easy task. He’s a young, wealthy trust fund kid, whose life was tragically changed due to one reckless mistake. As a result of a skiing accident, Landon is broken, bitter and angry with the world. But there’s something about Evie and her sharp retorts and no-nonsense attitude that has him rethinking his current life situation and pushing him to walk again. Evie has Landon wanting to be a better man, but can he heal her shattered heart?

The banter between these two characters is witty, and there are so many moments of tenderness and vulnerability between them as well. All She Never Wanted is a relatively short, sweet read — I read it in an afternoon — and there it’s a relatively clean romance.

“Drake
Collins, I don’t see you on our appointment book today,” Seraphine says,
wagging her finger at me with a twinkle in her dark brown eyes.
“That’s
because I’m not. Does Azalea have time to fit me in?”
“Hmmm.
Magnolia could fit you in quicker than—”
“Nah, I
don’t mind the wait. How long’s it gonna be?”
“About
twenty minutes.”
I turn, and
make myself comfy in one of the waiting room chairs, “That’ll be just fine,
Seraphine.”
She rolls
her eyes at me, “I’ll let her know you’re here.”
“Totally
unnecessary. It’s a surprise visit.”
Seraphine
shakes her head at me, but goes back to whatever she was doing at the computer,
thank God. Because I’m counting on the element of surprise to work in my favor
here. If she knows I’m here, she’ll start working on getting her walls up, but
if I catch her off guard, I might just catch her unguarded, if you know what I
mean.
To pass the
time, I play around on my phone, checking social media and shooting the shit
with Simon and Cash in group text. I impress myself by only checking the time
every five minutes, but my God, it really does feel like an eternity waiting on
her.
I perk up
when I hear the sound her sweet voice coming closer. “You have a wonderful day
Mrs. Jones, and be sure to tell Seraphine to book extra time at your next
appointment so that we can do those lowlights.”
She doesn’t
walk far enough into the room to see me, so I stand and follow behind her to
her station. She grabs the broom and starts sweeping, but jumps and throws it
down when she sees me. “Holy guacamole, you scared the ba-jeezus outta me!”
I cover my
smile with my fist, “I can see that.”
“What’re
you doing here?”
“Need a
haircut,” I tell her, claiming her chair.
She scowls
her trademark scowl at me, her eyes drilling into me like lasers. “So, make an
appointment.” She turns of walk away, but I reach out and snag her wrist.
“Don’t need
one,” I tell her, knowing it will make her that much more irritated. I know
these games are stupid, but her mad gets me so hot.
“You most
certainly do,” Azalea replies, her cheeks red with anger.
“Pretty
sure there’s a sign in the window that reads ‘Walk-in’s welcome’. You’re
certainly not making me feel very welcome. Not at all. Which, as the owner of
this establishment, you should know is bad for business.” I tsk, wagging my
finger at her.
 “Drake Ulysses Collins, you get your ass up
right now!” Azalea hisses through clenched teeth. Her eyes are so big, they
look like they might pop right on out of her head.
“Nah, don’t
think so. You get your cute ass over here, and buzz my hair down.”
“No!”
“Now.” It’s
a battle of wills and I’m playing to win. We remain frozen, staring one another
down, until she rolls her eyes and stomps back over to me, like I knew she
would. Drake, 1. Azalea, 0.
With a snap
of her wrists, she has the cape draped around me. She shoots me an evil gleam,
before pulling it as tight as it will go, damn near choking me. “Take it easy,
Bit,” I croak, only to be whopped upside the back of my head with her comb.
“What the hell?” I yell at her, but she just smiles and pops the guard she
knows I like onto her clippers.
With one
hand planted on the top of my head, she uses the other to move the clippers
through my hair, buzzing it down in fluid movements. Azalea takes her time,
dragging out my simple buzzcut because she thinks it’ll annoy me. She couldn’t
be more wrong. Hell, for half the haircut, her perky C cups are all up in my
face, and for the rest of it… her hands are on me, and there’s not a single
thing annoying about any of that. No, I fucking love it.
“There, all
done assface.”
“Assface,
huh? That an invitation?”
“God!
You’re so gross!”
Grasping
the front of the cape with both hands, I pull until it unsnaps. Rising from the
chair, I take two steps toward Azalea, effectively backing her into her station.
“Gross? You think I’m gross?”  I gently
run my nose up her neck, lingering just below her ear. “Naw, you don’t mean
that, do you?” My voice is hoarse and low, the sound of it causes Azalea’s skin
to break out in goosebumps.
“Sure do,”
she fires back, but her tone—all soft with want— betrays her words.
I take a
step closer, leaving not even an inch between us, “We both know you’re lying
through your teeth, but that’s okay Bit. Best be glad we’re in your place of
business, or I’d call your bluff.” I cover her lips with mine and tunnel my
fingers into her long, blonde hair. “Or maybe I still will,” I speak the words
against her lips, delighting in the feel of her rapid breaths. “Right here.
Right now.” I punctuate the words with a kiss, hard and rough, before stepping
back.
Azalea
stands there, bracing herself against her station, almost as if she’d crumple
to the floor without its support, and damn if that doesn’t make me feel like
the king of the world. “Thanks for the haircut. You have a nice day, and when I
call you later… answer.”

The “man flu” has come out of nowhere and hit both Logan and Rick with a virus they’re claiming to be worse than childbirth. In fact, they’re pretty sure their end is near.
Will the “man flu” be the kiss of death, or will it be my window for an opportunistic change?

Shari Ryan does it again! Man Flu is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a long time. There are so many laugh out loud moments between Logan and Hannah — and I’ll never be able to think of hot wax the same way again!

The sexual tension between Hannah and her hot-as-hell-former-pro-baseball-player temp, Logan, is off the charts. Neither one of them seems to care all that much about crossing the line to dating… and really, there are so many other lines crossed in this book that Hannah dating her temp is the least of their problems! But through every awkward situation — and they seem to grow more awkward as the story unfolds! — Logan just proves to Hannah over and over again that he’s a guy she can depend on. But because ever HEA story needs The Conflict for the couple to first move past, Logan’s deceit is kind of a doozy.

I loved everything about this book. Hannah’s inner dialogue was hysterical, her relationship with her assistant/best friend Brielle is so relatable, and the nightmare that is living next door to her ex-husband is played out perfectly at every turn. This story is sexy and sweet, and the romance between Logan and Hannah is a slow burn that had me anxiously flipping the pages of my kindle waiting for them to get it on!

And then I got to know his mother: She was strong, independent, drop-dead gorgeous, and someone I desired – I just needed to prove it to her.

She called me Mr. Romeo, and that was fine with me.

Lesson learned: Love always trumps everything.

Another great story from Madden and Schwehm! Luca is swoon-worthy perfection as he romances single mom/widow Sabrina in Scoring Mr. Romeo!

From the moment that Luca meets Sabrina, he is smitten. Despite the tiny handprints that frame his crotch as a result, thanks to her son, Mikey. And when Luca is later hit in the head with a soccer ball, again thanks to Mikey, it’s like fate giving these two a push to get together. But Sabrina was really put through the ringer at the hands of her late husband, and is she understandably has some issues in letting Luca in to her life. Because it’s not just about her when she has a small son to think about. And despite having never been in love before, Luca pulls out all the stops to wine and dine Sabrina. And his connection with her son is amazing. I think I fell in love with Luca as a father figure for Mikey even before I started rooting for Sabrina to fully let him into her heart!

This book series has been one great tale after another, and I can’t wait to see what is ahead for Cassie and Dante! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Luca’s POV

Only an inch separated our mouths, but the cool air that replaced her warm lips had me going back for more. Wanting to feel them again, the second time I pressed harder. She parted just enough to convey she also wanted more.

My conscience nagged, forcing me to again break the connection and end the temptation. Her breath hitched when I added more distance, as if I removed her source of oxygen.

“I better go,” I whispered. The uncertainty in her eyes killed me. “Sabrina, I don’t want to… I need to.”

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

The corner of his mouth twitches ever so slightly, as he takes a step closer to me.

“Have you told him you love him?” he says, taking another step. My heart beats wildly, as I look anywhere but at him. He steps closer again, until he’s just inches away. “Have you?” I turn my head, but his hand touches my chin, steering it back to center. “Brix.” His voice is soft, seductive, and I’m not sure how much longer I can take being this close to him. “Look at me and tell me.” I finally find the courage to look at him, and it’s as if his eyes pierce through to my soul. “Have you told him you love him?” I open my mouth to speak, but I can’t say the words. He sees my hesitation and goes in for the kill. With his hand still on my chin, he lets it slide around to the side of my neck. His fingers easily glide into my hair, and his thumb rubs gently back and forth against my cheek. “I need to know,” he says, just above a whisper. I close my eyes, my lips part fractionally, and my heart is about to leap from my chest. I can feel his warm breath against my cheek, as his lips graze my ear. “Yes or no, Brix?” A sharp intake of breath fills my lungs, before I exhale in desperation.

“No,” I say, and it’s as if I’ve just confessed every sin I’ve ever committed. The relief is profound, but now I know I’ve opened up an enormous gate. I feel him smile against my cheek and hear his satisfaction as he hums his exhale.

“Good. I can work with that.”
