Emma:
I open the
door to the guest quarters where we are staying this weekend, and I don’t see
him, but his luggage is in the middle of the little apartment. I hear the
faucet in the bathroom turn on, then off. The door opens, and out walks my
Tyler. He seems to have gained a touch of weight, but it looks good on him, and
his hair is very short. His eyes meet mine, and he stops in front of his
luggage. He comes to me, but it only takes me a second until I kick the door
shut and take off my shirt and he has my bra unlatched.
I don’t say
a word to him, and only crash my mouth to his, while I unbuckle the belt on his
jeans. Within record time, his pants are off, and his large hands are around
me, cupping my ass. He has always been an ass man, but when he trails his
fingertips down my back, massaging my butt slow and deep, my core is instantly
wet. I need to feel him inside me, and we still have not talked. I pull back
and say, “Hi, you.” With a big smile, I move his one hand to the front of me,
giving him access to my pussy. As much as he loves my ass, he loves my pussy
too. He falls to his knees, looking up at me.
“Hi, to you
too,” he says as his mouth finds its way to my core. I’m so wet that all he has
to do is touch my inner folds with his tongue and I could cream on him. My
hands find their way to his dark hair, and I’m rubbing his head, moaning.
“Fuck, Ems. You are so wet.”
“What can I
say, I fucking missed you. I won’t last long, Ty. Make me come and do it now.”
He always loved my bossiness, and it doesn’t seem to have changed. His tongue
works its way, circling my clit, and I’m glad he has not forgotten what makes
me hot and bothered. It takes less than thirty seconds, and I hold onto him for
dear life as my entire body spasms. “Fuck, Ty. I missed your tongue.”
Standing
up, he crashes his lips to mine, and when his tongue collides with me, I can
taste myself on him. “I fucking taste great,” I say.
“Yes, you
do.” He agrees with me, taking my hand as we find our way to the bedroom.
Pulling the blankets back, he places me on the bed, sliding in next to me. “As
much as I need to be in you, Ems, I need to take you in.” Settling under the
blankets, he pulls them back again as he searches my body up and down. “I want
to sit here, holding you for now.”
“Okay, I
can agree with that.” With a mischievous look on my face, I continue, “Your dick
had better be inside me in the next ten minutes.”
He wears a
cheesy smile while I ask, “What?”
“I missed
your bossy little mouth more than I can tell you.” He’s pulling my hair back,
looking at me intently as if his gaze would burn a hole in my soul. “Shit, Ems,
I knew I missed you, but it all hit me right now how incomplete my life is
without you.” Placing his hand on my cheek, he strokes my face gently. “Babe,
you look good. I mean, I see a little of my old Ems in you right now, and it
gives me hope.”
Rising on
my elbow and placing my hand on his chest, I feel a tear run down my cheek.
“Fuck, Ty, I’m so sorry. I mean, why are you still with me after all the shit I
pulled? I put you through so much and here you are.”
“Ems, I
would walk over broken glass for you. Don’t you know that by now?” he asks,
kissing my forehead. Tyler pulls me close. “Ems, our problems will still find
us tomorrow, but for now, all I want is to make love to my wife.” He is right,
and for that very reason, we fall onto the bed, in a tangled heap, as he
ravages my entire body.
Tyler:
Emma’s hand
finds mine, leading me to our bedroom. She hasn’t initiated any affection
toward me in a long time. More so, her touch stops me. It is the gentle Emma
touch I fell in love with years ago. Turning to her as we enter our room, I see
something in her eyes that I haven’t seen in ages. “Ems?” I ask as I
desperately want to touch her too. Fuck, do I want to touch her.
“Ty,” is
all she says to give me the permission I need; by the way her eyes water and
her mouth shows just a hint of a smile, one that has been missing from my
wife’s face forever, and I melt. It is less than a second, if that, before I
crash my mouth to hers. Her hand instantly finds my hardness, and without
thinking, I grab her as she wraps her legs around my waist. “Ty, I need you.”
She takes
the words out of my mouth because at this very moment, I have not needed
anything as much as I do her now. Once we are wrapped in each other’s arms, the
postpartum, the guilt she feels with Aspen, the attempted suicide, the fact
she’s leaving for LA soon—it all fades away.
I place her
gently on her back. Crawling onto the bed, I straddle her, taking in the sight
of my wife. Over the years, her almost raven-colored hair has become a touch
lighter, her deep jet black eyes still captivate me, but it is her smile, the
way she tweaks her mouth just enough to look both fucking sexy and innocent all
at the same time. In her smile, I can forget everything that is against us.
Right now, all the shit we have in our past and ahead of us fades, and I’m left
with only my wife.
“Ems, I
have fucking missed you so much! You are my world.”
“Ty, I’m so
sorry.” Hell, now she’s crying. I can’t have that ruining this moment, when the
same Emma I fell in love with years ago is back with me.
“Shh, babe,
I’m here. I’m yours. I’m going nowhere. See, as much as you have tried to push
me away, I’m here.”
Again, she
smiles, and this time, when it reaches her eyes, I’m a goner. The things she
can do to my heart and, well, other parts of my body leave me speechless. I
push her hair out of her eyes and kiss every part of her face, wiping away the
tears. After that, I need to be inside of her and have the urge to take Emma
roughly. And though I know she loves it when I ravage her, taking her deep and
hard, she needs soft and sweet right now.
Standing up
briefly, I yank her yoga pants off her while she tries to take care of her
shirt and bra. Stopping her, I simply say, “I want to soak in every moment,
Ems. Let me do that.” Again, she smiles at me, and my heart is truly hers
again. Not that I ever wanted to admit defeat with us, but she’s giving me a
glimmer of hope, one I haven’t had since Aspen was born.
I bring
Emma up to me and pull her simple black top over her head and reach behind her
to unclasp her bra in one fluid motion, something I have been known for. She
laughs. “You haven’t lost your move, there, buddy,” she says with a bit of a
flirt in her voice. The rasp in her tone is exactly how I remember her when she’s
turned on. Oh, how I have missed that rasp.
“Never,
babe,” I say as I urgently undress. But she stands, taking control. She slowly
unbuckles my belt. Taking it from the loops very slowly, she draws out the need
and the desire I have to plunge into my wife right now. But I give her this
control. She needs something that is hers. As she reveals my skin millimeter by
millimeter, her smile grows.
“Fuck, Ty,
your body is like that of an Olympic god.” She has used this little tagline for
as long as I can remember. The rasp of her voice causes my dick to stir. It has
a mind of its own, and like me, Emma owns it.
I push her
back gently and crawl on top of her now that both of us are naked.
Taking her
large D cup boobs in my mouth, I massage the nipple with my tongue as a slight
moan escapes from her. Wow, I’m turned on when I massage the other nipple with
my hand, squeezing the tit with my fingers. Her hand moves to my erection,
pumping it the way I like.
Before she
can demand entrance, I drop my head between her legs and open those sweet lips.
My head finds its way to her wet pussy, and my tongue finds that sweet spot
only I know when it comes to my Emma. She starts to writhe, but the second my
free hand touches her stomach, she calms at my touch, allowing her the ability
to enjoy the upcoming orgasm. The more I work her clit with my tongue, the more
I can feel her release building. In a matter of seconds, she’s pushed over the
edge and comes all over my face. I can’t help but lap up every drop of her.
I don’t
give her any time to think, though, as now I’m in front of her face. Her greedy
little pussy is waiting for my entrance, and I don’t disappoint. I ram into her
hard, and she smiles that sexy fucking smile again, but then I slow. I want to
relish every little movement I make inside her.
Looking
deep into the black irises of hers, I realize I love her more, more than I care
to admit and more than I ever thought possible. This time, Emma has given me
hope.
Now that we
are finally together after our time apart, we move in motion as if we were
never apart. I grab her face, moving slowly and methodically, relishing every
second I’m with my wife. I make her look in my eyes, and I continue to soak her
in and burn this to memory.

Two years ago, his kiss left her reeling, but she pushed him away and they never spoke of it again.

Lena Andrews is bad at love, and has no intention of getting better at it.

Men are good for one thing, and love isn’t it.

She’s perfectly okay with finding happiness in her job as a comic book artist.

Yet, she can’t shake the memory of her coworker’s kiss.

Amos St. Clair has stayed the hell away from Lena Andrews for the last two years.

Work has filled his time and he’s on the cusp of making a name for himself. When an opportunity to complete a project that’s dear to Lena’s heart presents itself, Amos seizes the opportunity – even if it means being with the woman he’s avoided all this time.

Through their mutual passion for art and each other, their love blooms like a lotus flower out of a dark, muddy pool. But, is their love strong enough to withstand the challenges posed by the most important job of their careers?

RELEASE DAY The Art of Us Hilaria Alexander Teaser

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, as I hadn’t read any of Hilaria Alexander’s other works. But I was more than pleasantly surprised by The Art Of Us.

Lena is a tortured soul, who doesn’t think she deserves happiness because of a freak incident in the past that still carries a load of guilt about. When it comes to men, she doesn’t date, but rather dips in one-night stands. Two years ago, she shared a sizzling kiss with her co-worker at a party and hasn’t been able to stop thinking about it since. But the frenzy of feelings Lena had for Amos in the moments after that kiss scared her so much that she pushed him away — until they were forced to work together.

I enjoyed the slow build of Lena and Amos’ relationship over the course of more than a year. I felt like I got to know them as they got to know one another, outside of the confines of their workspace. The setting of this book was different than anything else I’ve read before. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the fact that it takes place in Japan, but it added a special element to the backdrop of this story. I didn’t know much at all about the Japanese culture, but HA weaves it so beautifully into Amos and Lena’s story that Japan becomes a character itself.

The Art Of Us was a beautiful slow burn. I felt like I was immersed into Amos and Lena’s world, and was so thrilled when Lena finally found her home with the sweet artist. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Holy moly! This story was freakin’ fantastic! Full disclosure: When I first read the blurb for Sidelined, I knew the characters sounded familiar, but I didn’t remember that they were secondary characters in Scored until I dove into Sidelined. Then it all clicked.

In Scored, I really didn’t like Aiden. He was a moody, miserable, mean ass for no apparent reason other than he was an NFL star and could be a big old jerk to his best friend’s little sister. All that crap was going down with Layton thinking Joe was cheating on her, and Aiden was just being so obnoxious about it when she clearly was looking for some help and guidance. Then I got into the first of Aiden’s POV chapters in Sidelined and I absolutely fell in love with him! He’s been in love with his best friend’s little sister, whom he nicknamed LT when she was a little girl, for all these years! Swoon!

So after Layton learns (on her honeymoon!) that Joe is leaving her for their wedding planner, she turns to Aiden — who has a manwhore rep — for some short-term, no-strings-attached rebound sex. She can’t commit to anything more than that. But Aiden can’t bring himself to take anything less than forever and always with the woman he’s been secretly in love with for years. He fights like hell to get LT to change her mind, but can he convince her to take the risk?

I loved the banter between these two characters. Layton is the quintessential Southern belle, and Aiden is a gruff Boston transplant now living in North Carolina. The dialogue was witty and made each of LT and Aiden’s exchanges more enjoyable than the next. The characters are relatable, and the storyline hooked me in from the start. I am so glad that Marquita Valentine took these characters in this direction, because it is so not what I was expecting for LT and Aiden after meeting them in Scored! I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for Layton’s brother, Kingston, in the next standalone book in this series.

I read an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel when I see Layton standing outside, wearing a large coat… and is she holding pom-poms?

After another insistent pounding on the door, I stride to it, yanking it open. “What the hell are you doing at my house? And who let you the fuck in my neighborhood?”

“I gave the guard my brother’s name and said I was taking important papers to you.”

“That’s… pretty damn smart.”

Throwing off the coat, Layton beams at me and puts her hands on her hips. “I came over to S-E-D-U-C-E you!”

My jaw drops and gets stuck to the floor. “You what?

Her brow furrows. “Did I spell seduce wrong?”

I look around, half-expecting that at any minute, someone with a camera phone will jump out at us and yell just kidding, because there’s no way in hell Layton Price should be on my doorstep wearing a cheerleading outfit and shaking her pom-poms at me.

Well, she hasn’t shaken them yet, but her tits are about to pop out of her top, and the skirt… the skirt leaves little to the imagination. Swear to God, with a faster turnaround, I’ll see her ass cheeks hanging out.

“You spelled it right.” I rub my jaw. “What do you want?”

She rolls her eyes. “I came here to seduce you.”

“Wearing that?” It’s not usually my thing, but…

“Should I shake my pom-poms for you first?”

Hell yes, you should. “No. Put your coat back on.” I bend over and pick it up, then place it around her shoulders. “You need to go home, LT.”

She juts out her bottom lip. “My Uber already left.”

“Not my problem.”

“Come on, Aiden,” she pleads, batting her lashes at me and letting the coat slide down her hot little body. “It’s cold outside.”

“Should have thought about that before you put,” I wave my hand at her, “that on.”

“I wore it just for you. The top’s too tight, though.” As if to torture me, she started bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. “Oh, wow. I can’t believe the girls are staying put.”

Me either. “Good for them.” I try to shut the door, but she shoves a pom-pom in at the last minute. “Damn it, LT. I said go home.”

“You can’t leave me outside when it’s cold like this.”

Better than me taking advantage of her like this. “I’m not a gentleman, baby girl.”

“You don’t have to be a gentleman to be a decent person,” she points out. “And stop calling me baby girl. I’m neither one of those.”

She’s right. “Get your ass in here. You can wait in the foyer while I get an Uber for you.”

Pushing her way in, she grins and spins around, stumbling a couple of times in the process. “What do you think of the outfit? Be honest.”

There are two problems with that: she has no idea, and she’s married. Or at least, she was.
Anna Callahan knows three things about her brother’s friend, Tristan: he’s quiet, incredibly handsome, and has a smolder that could set the room on fire.
For years, it wasn’t difficult for Anna to overlook all of that. But when Tristan is the solution to a work problem that could derail her career, he is anything but easy to ignore.
To Tristan, the fact that the object of his affection is suddenly single means he should tread lightly. Be the friend she needs until she’s ready for more and hope the risk pays off.

I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Undefeated, by Stuart Reardon and Jane Harvey-Berrick

AP new - synopsis.jpg

A powerful contemporary romance set in the fast-moving world of international rugby.

When your world crashes down
When they all say you’re out
When your body is broken
I will rise.
I will return.
And I will be undefeated.

Nick Renshaw is the golden boy of British rugby. When a serious injury threatens his career, he starts to spiral downwards, a broken man.
Feeling abandoned and betrayed by those closest to him, he fights to restart his life. Maybe there’s someone out there who can help him. Maybe he can find his way back toward the light. Maybe … not.
Dr. Anna Scott might be the one person who can help Nick, but she has her own secrets. And when Nick’s past comes back to haunt them both, the enigmatic doctor is more vulnerable than she seems.
Broken and betrayed, the struggle to survive seems intolerable. Who will give in, and who will rise, undefeated?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in to Undefeated, as it is former pro rugby star Stuart Reardon’s debut novel, and Jane Harvey-Berrick is a new-to-me author. But I went into the book with an open mind, and I was pleasantly surprised.

There is a sweetness to rugby player Nick and sports psychologist Anna’s romance. While their relationship is technically forbidden thanks to his team’s no-fraternization policy, the two embark on a genuine friendship at first, which gives their later romance a strong foundation. When they first meet, Nick is in a long-term relationship, and despite their attraction to the other, neither one of them do anything to cross a line. When an injury nearly ruins Nick’s career, and then his personal life falls apart as a result, Anna turns out to be the only person from that part of his life still rooting him on. She stands by him, lifting him up through one of the darkest times in his life, but when the tables are turned and Anna needs a personal cheerleader, will Nick return the favor and come through for her in the same way?

Undefeated has an uplifting HEA, even though Nick and Anna’s journey to get there is full of twists and turns and roadblocks and a helluva lot of angst. The rugby scenes are gritty and raw, no doubt colored by Reardon’s own personal experience with the sport. The story is told in alternating third person POVs; while I do love being able to read both his and her sides to a story, third person is not my favorite perspective. And there are several times where POV changes mid-chapter; it’s not a huge deal in terms of the flow of the story, but my personal preference is a clean character break with the start of a new chapter.
Overall, Undefeated is a solid feel-good romance, and I was rather impressed by Reardon’s first offering as an author. We all know he makes for a beautiful cover model (like on Undefeated!) and now he can say that he’s a pretty good romance writer as well. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Stuart is a retired England International Rugby League player who’s career spanned 16 years as a professional playing for several top League clubs. He has had several major injuries that nearly ended his career just as in Undefeated, the amazing collaboration with Jane.
Currently he is a Personal trainer living in Cheshire, and has an online fitness program: Fear Nothing Fitness.

Jane Harvey-Berrick

I

enjoy watching surfers at my local beach, and weaving stories of romance in the modern world, with all its trials and tribulations.
It’s been the best fun working with Stu on this story. And yes, he did think about joining the Marines once.

New Release: XO, Zach, by Kendall Ryan

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he’d left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty–and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I’m crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that’s the only reaction I can get out of you, I’ll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I’m falling for you, and I know it’s wrong. I know that I’m only supposed to be your adviser and nothing more, but here’s the thing. I think you’re falling for me too.

xo, Zach

“This is serious, Poppy. Will you promise?”

“What am I promising?” This man had a way of getting me to say things, to feel things, to admit things that I might not have otherwise. I wasn’t sure if it was because he was older and wiser and that much more cunning at these types of discussions, or if it was just because being near him seemed to physically lower my inhibitions. He was like a walking shot of tequila.

“I need you to promise me that if anything physical happens between us—that it will be very consensual, and very sex-positive. I need you to understand that I will worship you and make you come So. Many. Fucking Times.”

He annunciated those words so clearly and slowly, I felt them with every beat of my heart, every pulse of heat between my legs.

Oblivious to my hammering heart, Zach continued. “But I also need you to know that if I do or say anything you don’t like, all you have to do is say so and everything will stop. Just the word no, Poppy. Use it and I promise to leave you alone.”

“Leave me alone as in stop mentoring me, stop helping me in the program?”

His face was serious and he shook his head without even considering it. “I will never stop mentoring you, as long as you want it. Giving in to our attraction—or not—will never be a condition for my help. I want you to succeed, and it has nothing to do with how much I want you in my bed. Do you understand that?”

I felt myself nodding my head.

I knew what he was saying. Despite how aggressively Zach put his feelings on the subject of us out there—I knew he’d never betray my wishes.

“Okay,” I murmured.

He considered me for a long moment, neither of us blinking.

“Why did you approach me that night at the party, Poppy. Did you find me attractive?”

Was he fucking serious?

Of course I find him attractive. Actually, attractive was too weak a word. I found him mesmerizing. Addictive. Enchanting. Impossible.

“I’m not saying I do, but if I wanted something to happen …” I swallowed a wave of nerves and took a shallow breath as Zach’s mouth curved into a grin.

Something as in finding out how many times in a row I can make you come using my mouth, my hands, and my …”

I held up one hand. “Yes. That. How would it work, isn’t it, like, forbidden?”

God, why did the word forbidden make me feel even hotter?

Blurb

Tripp Anders.

Formerly the best surfer in the world. Still Longview, Florida’s most famous son. And, starting this week, my boss.

My boss at my summer job. A job my parents made me get. A job my parents made me get because I hadn’t left the house since I moved home six months ago.

After my divorce.

I’m in my thirties, by the way.

…Yeah.

I thought trying to fit into a Hot Beach one-piece five mornings a week would be the toughest part of this job. Instead, it’s Tripp. He’s arrogant, condescending, and used to getting what he wants.

And what he wants right now is me.
