Release Blitz: More Than Love You, by Shayla Black

2018-SBPRBANNER-MTLY-RB

More Than Love You, an all-new sexy romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shayla Black is LIVE!

03 MoreThanLoveYou

I’m Noah Weston. For a decade, I’ve quarterbacked America’s most iconic football team and plowed my way through women. Now I’m transitioning from star player to retired jock—with a cloud of allegation hanging over my head. So I’m escaping to the private ocean-front paradise I bought for peace and quiet. What I get instead is stubborn, snarky, wild, lights-my-blood-on-fire Harlow Reed. Since she just left a relationship in a hugely viral way, she should be the last woman I’m seen with.

On second thought, we can help each other…

I need a steady, supportive “girlfriend” for the court of public opinion, not entanglements. Harlow is merely looking for nonstop sweaty sex and screaming orgasms that wring pleasure from her oh-so-luscious body. Three months—that’s how long it should take for us both to scratch this itch and leave our respective scandals behind. But the more I know this woman, the less I can picture my life without her. And when I’m forced to choose, I’ll realize I don’t merely want her in my bed or need her for a ruse. I more than love her enough to do whatever it takes to make her mine for good.

More Than Love You is a sexy and emotional standalone novel in the More Than Words Series.

Cover Reveal: Charming Fiona, by Jessica Prince

Title: Charming Fiona
Author: Jessica Prince
Genre: Seductive Romantic Comedy
Release Date: March 7

As I child, I believed in true love and fairytales. I convinced myself that there was one special man out there, made just for me. All I had to do was wait, and one day he would appear. Then I grew up and discovered the ugly truth.

Disney movies were full of crap.

Relationships took work. People made mistakes. And sometimes, you didn’t see what was standing right in front of you until it was too late.

Deacon Lockhart was my best friend. And then I lost him. But now I finally have a chance to make things right, and this time I refuse to screw it up. With every smoldering look and wicked word, he charms the hell out of me… and I’m pretty sure I’ll never get enough.

JessicaPrince

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Off Season, by Megan Green

Today we have the release blitz of The Off Season by Megan Green! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: The Off Season

Author: Megan Green

Genre: Sports Romance

About The Off Season:

He had it all…

The day Ian “Tag” Taggart’s world comes crashing down around him, he’s sitting in a fast food drive-thru, waiting for an order of fries. Golden boy of the MLB and shortstop for the Washington Rampage, Tag quickly finds himself losing grip on his superstar life with the use of two awful words: sexual assault.

The only problem? He’s innocent.

Tag’s willing to do anything to prove to the world he’d never commit the crime he’s been accused of. So when his agent suggests taking a break from the spotlight, he listens. The quiet town on Maple Lake is everything Seattle isn’t. And Lexi Barnes is everything he wasn’t expecting to find.

Running from a past she can never escape, Lexi wants nothing to do with her new neighbor. But fixing up an old house takes more work than anticipated, and the new guy in town happens to have quite the set of carpentry skills. She won’t let herself fall for him though. She has no room in her life for love.

If only someone would tell her heart that.

He’s funny and charming. She’s closed off and rude.

Together, they’re like fire and ice.

Prepare to get burned this Off-Season.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Considering the current climate in pop culture with the #MeToo movement, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like a romance novel where the hero has been, wrongly or not, accused of rape. But I felt that the author handled that part of the story well, and Tag’s past didn’t bother me the way I was afraid it might while reading The Off-Season.

In the aftermath of his scandal, baseball star Ian “Tag” Taggert retreats to his friend’s lakeside home to regroup and lay low during the off-season, and soon after crosses paths with the closed-off, sassy, snarky next-door neighbor, Lexi. Just like Ian is trying to piece his life back together, so is Lexi, a recovering alcoholic who made a horrible mistake that she won’t let herself be forgiven for. As Ian helps Lexi fix up her home, he breaks down her walls little by little.

I enjoyed the banter between the characters, and found them to be well-written and well-rounded. I felt how badly Lexi hated herself, I felt how lost Ian was after the scandal. I felt how much they made sense being together, despite all of Lexi’s attempts to push Ian away because she felt undeserving.

The build-up to them finally getting together does take up a good portion of the book, but the pay-off, including their split and reconciliation, was well worth the wait.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“You’re sure you don’t need my help, Lex? I’m more than happy to hang around a bit longer.”

I let out a deep breath, blowing away the strand of hair that fell across my face, as I scrub the kitchen floor. “I told you, Ella, I’m fine. Get your ass out of here, and get back to those babies of yours. Drew is probably going out of his mind by now.”

My sister pulls her bottom lip in between her teeth, her eyes darting from where I’m kneeling on the floor to the stacks of boxes arranged haphazardly around the room. “I feel bad, leaving you like this. I was the one who convinced you to move all the way out here. The least I can do is help you unpack.”

Dropping the scrub brush back into the bucket of soapy water, I push myself up off my knees and take in my sister. For a woman who had twins only six months ago, she looks amazing. In blue leggings and a white T-shirt, you’d never guess that, only half a year ago, the woman looked like she’d swallowed an entire watermelon. Maybe two. I’ve always envied her for that. Throughout our childhood and teen years, she was able to eat anything she wanted without a second thought to what it might do to her thighs while, if I even looked at a cheeseburger, I would gain ten pounds. I’ve spent my entire life counting calories and watching everything I put into my mouth, and I still never look as good as she does without any effort.

Until now anyway. I haven’t exactly had much of an appetite this past year. That’s one perk of everything that’s happened. I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been in my life. Probably too thin, if there is such a thing.

I walk across the room, circling my arms around Ella’s shoulders when I reach her, giving her a brief, firm hug. “I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, Ells. You believed in me when nobody else did. You stood by my side when everyone else turned the other cheek. And you helped me find my dream house without even knowing it was what I was looking for.”

Ella’s brows rise in a skeptical look as she takes in the run-down condition of my new home. “Dream house, huh? I think you should set your sights a little higher next time, Lex.”

I laugh as I spin her around and shuffle her toward the door. “You just wait. Fixing this place up is exactly what I need. It’s going to be freaking spectacular.”

My hand closes around the doorknob, pulling hard to open the front door that I already know sticks slightly. It’s one of the many things on my list of to-dos for this place. When the door still doesn’t budge, I brace my foot up on the frame for leverage, giving it another strong tug.

My sister’s laugh registers before the fact that I’m now planted squarely on my ass, doorknob in hand. I look between it and the new hole in the door where the knob used to be, and before I can help myself, I join in.

“God, this place is a dump,” I say between breaths, wiping the tears developing in my eyes. It’s the first time in a long time that the tears are from laughter and not pain and anguish. It feels so good to laugh.

And then the guilt hits.

Do I deserve to feel good after what I did? Do I deserve to laugh with my sister after almost taking that privilege from someone else? I ruined someone’s life. What in the hell am I thinking, sitting here in a fit of giggles while that person is still going through hours of pain and therapy?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: One More Promise by Samantha Chase

We are so excited to be sharing the release of Samantha Chase’s ONE MORE PROMISE, the latest standalone in her Band on the Run series. Contemporary romance lovers won’t want to miss this rockstar romance–be sure to grab your copy today!

About ONE MORE PROMISE

Dylan Anders is making amends
…to his family
…to the public
…for letting everyone down

Paige Walters has something to prove
…to her busy father
…to her bossy sister
…but mostly to herself

Ambitious Paige Walters is ecstatic when she’s hired to recruit celebrities for a children’s literacy campaign – it’s her chance to prove she’s got the chops to make it in the family business.  She certainly isn’t going to let some fallen idol screw it up.  But as the work brings Paige and Dylan closer together, their attraction grows…and so do their challenges.

Add ONE MORE PROMISE to your Goodreads shelf here!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I loved how One More Promise paired together two very different people who were struggling with family issues. Paige plays by-the-rules and struggles daily with not being able to live up to her family’s expectations. Which is made even more difficult by the fact that she works at her father’s PR company alongside her perfect sister. Dylan is a recovering alcoholic, fresh out of rehab, who often wonders what path his life would have taken had his parents dealt with his teenage rebellion rather than ignored it.

When Dylan shows up to fulfill his community service hours through a literacy project at Paige’s PR firm, the two do not get off on the right foot. She envisioned the project as a collection of wonderful authors, not rock stars with bad reputations. As they begin to spend time together, Paige realizes that she had Dylan pegged wrong all along — and when a “fake” relationship is formed between the two of them for the tabloids’ sake, it’s not long before real feelings start to develop.

The story focuses a lot on Paige and Dylan as characters; her father does get involved in causing some drama between them, but it is a pretty angst-free story. The romance develops at a nice pace, and there are many tender moments between the two as they learn how to support one another and find their inner strength to grow as individuals and as a couple.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

“Dylan…wait.”

Looking over his shoulder at her, he waited.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you.”

He smiled. For some reason, she was starting to enjoy seeing him smile. As much as she hated to admit it, Dylan Anders was becoming a friend with whom she enjoyed spending time. Paige no longer looked at their time together as a chore, but rather a perk. Their conversations were always fun and he was quite pleasant to look at.

Not that she went for the scruffy, rock-star type.

At least, she never had until now.

But Paige was far too intelligent to think that someone like Dylan would give her a second look. He was being nice to her because he had to. Or felt like he had to. They had formed a friendship and that was that. During her Google searches, she’d found a plethora of pictures of Dylan with various models and other beautiful and glamorous women. Tall, thin, sexy women. If there was one thing Paige knew about herself, it was how she certainly didn’t fit into that category.

So what if he remembered her favorite sandwich and made sure she had something to eat? He was being nice. Still…no one else around her seemed to care if she hadn’t eaten. And so what if he was concerned about her stressing herself out and tried to find a helpful solution? He was probably bored and looking for something to do to pass the time and figured, as his official assistant/babysitter, she’d be open to entertaining him.

Only…it felt like more. Like he was a genuinely nice guy who put the needs of others before his own. Or was she seeing something that she only wanted to see? True, it had been far too long since she’d been in a relationship or even went out on a date. Maybe she was a little…needy, in the male-companion territory.

And it didn’t help that he was so attractive.

“Dammit,” she muttered.

“You okay?” Dylan asked.

Crap! She hadn’t meant to say anything out loud. “It’s nothing,” she said quickly. “I just hate that everyone isn’t here yet. I should probably make some calls and see what’s going on.”

“You mean call your sister and let her know that she needs to call the talent?” he asked sweetly.

And if she hadn’t found his smile so darn attractive, she’d want to slap it right off his face.

“No,” she said with a hint of irritation. “We’re on the clock and people need to get here now. I’m not starting a phone tree. Excuse me.”

As she pulled out her phone to start making calls, Dylan gave a small shrug and walked over to where a couple of other musicians who were now part of the campaign were sitting.

Great. He had to have a sexy ass that looked amazing in a pair of faded jeans.

A-ma-zing.

Fairly grab-able.

“Ugh…I really need to stop thinking like this,” she said with a weary sigh and startled when a voice answered on the other end of the phone.

Cover Reveal: Home Run King by Stella is Coming February 22!

Home Run King by Stella is an all new standalone sports romance coming February 22nd!!

Synopsis

My life was what country songs are made of: my Granny died, my girlfriend broke up with me, I knocked up her cousin, and I was inducted into the Major League Hall of Fame. Yup…just like every country song I’ve ever heard.

But let me start over…

My name is Gage Nix. That’s all you need to know.

Actually, there’s a lot more to Gage than meets the eye. My name’s Katie Crisp, and I had a front row seat and the inside scoop.

In a moment of grief and desperation, I allowed the Home Run King to…well, hit a home run on my diamond. He not only knocked it out of the park, but he also knocked me up.

Raising two babies—the one I was carrying, and Gage—wasn’t what I signed up for. But he gave me no choice. I only wish I hadn’t waited until the end of the season to see that he was my MVP.

Oh, and the only hall of fame he’s ever been inducted into is his own.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Feels Like Home, by Jennifer Van Wyk

SBPR_BT_BANNER.jpg

Feels Like Home, an all-new emotional standalone from Jennifer Van Wyk is available NOW!

FLHome_print_web

Andy Simpson never expected to be raising his teenage twin sons alone.

Then again, he also never expected to walk into his house and see his wife with another man. In their bed. Or that it wasn’t her first time.

Bitterness threatened to wrap around his heart, darkening every part of his life.

But a brightness he wasn’t even looking for entered their lives and wouldn’t let it take hold.

Christine Jameson knew all about being a single parent. But she was holding a secret. A secret she wasn’t willing to allow anyone to find out. One she’d held tight for years.

But one look at Andy, and she knew that she needed to be honest with him. That he deserved to know he wasn’t alone.

They both needed friendship. Needed someone who understood, who had compassion without judgement.

What they didn’t imagine was for it to become something more.

That they would come to share something they never thought they would experience again.

They didn’t expect for it to… Feel Like Home.

JVW-6

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I read so many YA romances, it was refreshing to read a story about more mature characters, single parents dealing with those obligations on top of navigating dating once again. As characters in their 30s/40s, Andy and Christine don’t play games with one another. Even when The Conflict arises for this couple, Christine handles it with grace and strength. Andy may have been a jackass about the situation at first, but he eventually mans up and handles it in a mature way.

I absolutely adored Andy and Christine both as individuals, and as a couple. Their relationship was truly born out of friendship and compassion, with Christine knowing exactly what Andy was going through in the aftermath of his wife cheating on him. And because both of their spouses had been unfaithful, the fact that Andy chose to wait until his divorce was finalized before moving past the friend zone with Christine endeared him to me even more. All of the time they spent together as friends, getting to know one another and each other’s kids, made them fall in love long before they officially began dating.

Van Wyk did a great job of also incorporating his and her children into the relationship, showing — not TELLING, which is a huge pet peeve of mine — how these two single parents blended their family together. The relationship seemed too good to be true — and since the blurb reveals that Christine is hiding a secret, I was wondering when the other shoe would drop. When it did, I can fully admit, I did not see that twist coming. But in a sense, it was perfect. It was perfect, to help these two people move forward and seal their futures together.

Van Wyk is a new-to-me author, and one that I will absolutely be reading more of. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

I reach across the cushion and grasp her hand in mine, squeezing once. “I’m sorry you went through that.”

She squeezes my hand once in response. “I’m sorry you’re going through it now.”

“Thank you.”

“So, want some advice?”

“Eat more lemon pound cake?”

She releases my hand and sits back, giggling, and again I’m hit with how much I love hearing the sound of her laughter. “Well, that, too. I could even say it’s healthy because it’s made with Greek yogurt.”

“You trying to tell me something?” I tease her.

She smiles, a cross between sad and sort of resigned.

“My advice? Be happy.”

“What’s that?”

“Be happy. I promise you. First of all, it will drive Heather nuts knowing you are moving on without her. But second of all, and this is the most important part of it, you’ll be happy.”

“You make it sound so easy.”

“I’ve had a lot of practice. When Todd was at his sickest, we practiced a lot of happiness. Happiness because we had good days, or we had quiet moments to spend as a family when he could barely get out of bed. Happiness when we were able to celebrate holidays. After he cheated, one of the things we discovered was that we could either give in to the ugly that it brought on, or we could move on. We moved on. And he had to do the same. We both had guilt. Guilt for how we got there. I questioned if I wasn’t giving him what he needed. He questioned everything. I’m not going to lie… it’s hard, and most days you’ll have to dig deep, but you’ll get there. Trust me. The light is always better than the dark.”

I lay my head on the back of the couch and turn to look at her. She’s so gorgeous it almost hurts to look at her. I’ve always thought so, though I would have never done a thing about it. She has always been the mom who turned heads.

“What was he thinking?” I murmur.

“Pardon?”

“Todd. What was he thinking?”

“You mean…”

“When he stepped out.”

She doesn’t respond, just simply smiles before biting her lip and looking away, her long, dark, silky hair falling over her shoulder. She ducks her head and tucks a lock of hair behind her ear.

“I’m sorry,” I tell her, though I don’t know what I’m apologizing for. Almost admitting how gorgeous I think she is? Her husband cheating? Her husband dying? Me laying my shit out for her? All of it, probably.

“I’m sorry Heather’s such an asshole,” she replies with a shrug.

I bark out a laugh. “She is definitely an asshole.”

“She forgot rule number one.”

“What?”

“Never mind… it was in a book I read.”

“Ahh. Good book?”

“More than good.” She gives me a ghost of a smile and reaches over to grip my hand, squeezing once before letting go. “So, what are you going to do?”

“Honestly? I have no clue. I need to find a place for the boys and me to stay, talk with a lawyer… that part I know for sure. I can’t stay with her. As sad as it sounds, and maybe it’s kind of a little mean, but I think we fell out of love a long time ago. We’ve been hanging on by a thread for years. I’m sure part of it was my fault, but still…”

“It’s no excuse. This has nothing to do with you, Andy. This is all Heather. You’re a great guy. It’s Heather’s loss.”

“I appreciate you saying that.”

“It’s the truth.”

About Jennifer:

From the Ground Up was Jennifer’s first published novel and now that she was bitten by the writing bug, has no intention of ever stopping. Jennifer makes her home in small town Iowa with her high school sweetheart, three beautiful, hilarious and amazing kids, one crazy Jack Russell terrier. This is where her love for all things reading, baking, and cooking happen. Jennifer’s family enjoys camping, boating, and spending time outside as much as possible. You’ll be her best friend if you can make her laugh and follow up with asking her what to read next. When she’s not writing, you can find her cheering the loudest at her kids’ sporting events (read as: embarrassing them), sipping coffee or iced tea out of a mason jar with her Kindle in her lap or binging on Netflix.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Scoring The Player, by Samantha Lind

unnamed.jpg
Title: Scoring the Player
Series: Indianapolis Eagles #2
Author: Samantha Lind
Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance

Release Date: February 8, 2018

Blurb
Cocky, man whore, player…. Those are all ways I have been
described by the media and countless women. Are they accurate? Possibly. But,
that’s all I let the media see of me, Brian Kelly, defensive player for the
Indianapolis Eagles Hockey team. I have no intentions of settling down and
changing the media’s perception of me. I can’t tell if women are after me for
my bank account, the status symbol of being with a professional athlete, or if
they really want me for me. Then I meet her. The one woman who doesn’t let my
charm affect her or cause her to jump directly into my bed. Can I possibly
change my ways and settle down?
Grounded, selfless, giving…Those are all the ways my family
and friends have described me. Are they right? Possibly. But, I’m so much more,
and need some passion and excitement in my life. My best friend is moving on
and I want that someone special to share all that life has to offer. Let it be
known that I, Kinley Williams, want the right someone special. So why did he
have to crash into me? The one man who is so clearly wrong for me. Then again,
he doesn’t seem like anything the tabloids claim him to be. So is he really all
that wrong?

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Scoring The Player is the second book in Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series, and I enjoyed this sweet romance just as much as the first one, Just Say Yes. We first met Kinley and Brian in Just Say Yes, as they are the best friend and teammate of that book’s couple, Becca and Scott. This story begins somewhere toward the end of Just Say Yes, but it is a complete standalone. Becca and Scott’s story does continue in this book, which I liked, without overshadowing the new couple, which I appreciated.

Brian is known as a hockey playboy, but he never knows if women are after him purely for his celebrity athlete status. The fact that Kinley doesn’t care much about who he is when they first meet leaves a mark on Brian, and even though he’s only visiting Scott in Alaska for a few days, he’s determined to get to know her better. Despite the sexual attraction between them, Brian respects every one of the boundaries Kinley sets forth in exchange for spending time with him during his visit. It was nice to see just how much of a gentleman this “player” can be.

After Brian’s Alaska trip comes to an end, he and Kinley continue building their friendship through text messages, phone calls and FaceTime, and the reader is right there as these two get to know one another better. There is zero drama due to other people interfering in their relationship, and the couple’s struggles stem from the geographical distance between them. When the going gets rough, Brian really steps up and proves to Kinley just how much her presence in his life changed his playboy ways.

I have the same complaint that I did with Just Say Yes, where I found some of the minute descriptions to be unnecessary, but I’m seeing that is Lind’s writing style. And honestly, aside from not knowing there was a potentially sensitive issue that develops (it’s a personal trigger for me, that I would have liked to have been prepared for), that’s my only complaint.

Scoring The Player is a sweet, angst-free romance, and I can’t wait to read Murph’s story next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
