Cover Reveal: Ruthless Mountain Man, by Jenika Snow & Kelsey King

I moved to the mountains to get away from everyone and everything. All I want is peace and quiet and it’s worked well for me over the last decade. But then she moves in next door and disrupts my solitude.

Kylie—my new neighbor—with her smartass mouth and destructive dog. It’s obvious she doesn’t belong here with her designer boots and city girl attitude but she’s stubborn and won’t listen to reason. Despite all that, there’s no denying I want her. Her sass and defiance get under my skin and admittingly turn me on. It’s a love/hate relationship in the most inconvenient way possible.

When a snowstorm comes barreling through, it’s Kylie who’s at my doorstep needing heat and food because she’s completely unprepared. Although I warned her, she finally admits I was right. Between my hatred for her dog and her distaste for me, things are bound to get complicated.

Secluded in my cabin together means the temperature rises, the gloves come off—but most of all—the arousal and chemistry moving between us reaches its breaking point.

Coming May 24th

If envy is a sin, then let me be damned.

Graham was born to be a star.

Once upon a time, that star shone only for me.

Now, I have to share him with the rest of the world.

For a while, I thought I could do it.  Because, beneath the hypnotic smile, gorgeous body and God-given charm that made him famous, I still caught glimpses of my best friend.

Of the boy who called me sunshine and loved me.

I wore that love like a crown . . . until he placed it on another’s head.

Losing him was agony, distance felt like the only cure.

When tragedy reunites us after years apart, it only takes one touch to erase the past. Just like that, I’m back in his arms.

He promises this time will be different.  But I’m afraid to believe him.

Because behind his star’s blinding brilliance is a darkness that doesn’t want to let him go.

I know a star that bright can’t belong to just one person, but my jealous heart doesn’t want to share him.

I want all of him . . . even if wanting what doesn’t belong to me leads me to ruin.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Big Mistake, by Tessa Blake & Laney Powell

31913049_1777070615682529_2057989143870308352_n.jpg

Out of the friend zone and into the fire…

Garrett

Beck’s been my best friend since we were toddlers—she’s like a sister to me, or at least that’s what I’ve always thought. Beck is family, and it’s my job to make sure she’s safe and happy.

But lately when I look at Beck, family’s not what I see. I see someone who makes my pulse race and my body sit up and take notice. I see a woman.

And then we get drunk on a birthday trip, and one thing leads to another …

I don’t know what’s worse: waking up in bed with my best friend, or knowing that, no matter what, we can’t do this again. But I have a feeling I’m about to find out.

Beck

Garrett’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember—the next thing to family. Add to that the fact that his relationships last for a few months at best, and he’s the absolute worst boyfriend candidate around.

So why did I just wake up in bed with him?

Garrett says it was just a drunken mistake, and we should go on the way we have been—BFFs and nothing more. And he’s right; we can’t do this again. Our friendship is more important than what we just did.

Isn’t it?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

What if the biggest mistake of your life turns out to be the best thing you ever did?

Big Mistake was everything I want out of a best friends romance. The initial hookup between Beck and Garrett is something that can so easily happen (drunk!) and the painful conversation that follows the next morning puts them on a course that neither of them really wants to be on. I seriously wanted to slap Garrett so many times for being so completely oblivious to not only how Beck was responding to him, but to his own feelings!

Big Mistake was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon. I loved these characters, and hope that their friends, Levi and Bri, get a story of their own one day! I recived an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

Release Blitz: Bare, by Sarah Robinson

Today we have the release blitz for Sarah Robinson’s BARE! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: BARE: A Hollywood Romance

Author: Sarah Robinson

Series: Exposed, Book 2

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Standalone

About BARE:

Following the popular series debut—NUDES was praised as “passionate, emotional and uplifting” by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely—contemporary romance author Sarah Robinson weaves a new standalone story where a second chance at romance is found on a Hollywood film set and secrets always have a way of being…exposed.

Reed Scott is the hottest actor in LA…

Being a Hollywood heartthrob has its perks, and I’ve damn sure enjoyed every one of them, both on and off the silver screen. The tabloids loved every second of exploiting my privacy, chronicling my mistakes in ink for the whole world to see. Accepting the lead role in a romantic dance film was guaranteed to make me a box office hit and help me rewrite my image, until the choreographer hired to train me turned out to be the only woman I’d ever loved and lost.

As beautiful and enticing as ever, Tegan walks in and reminds me of the worst mistake I’ve ever made. She should hate me, and now she has the power to destroy everything I am.

Tegan Reynolds is picking up the pieces…

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…never going to happen. I fell in love with Reed Scott once and it nearly killed me—literally. The last thing I want to do now is teach him how to dance, but I need this job and there’s no way I’m letting him take yet another thing away from me.

Reed is in my world now, and this time we’re dancing by my rules.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Am I cursed? Teagan stared at herself in the mirror of her small apartment bathroom. She felt cursed. Reed-Scott-freaking-cursed.

Life certainly hadn’t handed her the easiest go, and now, just when she’d thought things were finally turning around because she’d landed a fantastic job as a film choreographer, fate was still proving it had other plans for her. This job was supposed to be her big break—well, break-ish. Sure, it wasn’t what she’d wanted out of her life, but her dreams were no longer an option.

And this job? Most people would kill for it. So, she was choosing to be grateful.

She had to choose to be grateful a lot, actually. If she didn’t, then life would have gotten the better of her years ago. Teagan glanced down at her legs, tracing a finger across the long scar that stretched from her knee to her hip. She tried to hide it under leggings and skirts, but it wasn’t always possible.

When she’d almost died in a car accident at the age of twenty-one, she’d thought she’d never walk again. Hell, the doctors had told her exactly that. And dancing? That was an impossibility.

The years and years she’d spent training to become a professional dancer had all been wiped away in less time than it took for that car to slam hers into a ditch. Despite the doctor’s predictions that her wheelchair would become a permanent fixture, though, she’d proved them all wrong. She’d spent years learning to walk, and then dance, again. Sure, she’d probably never have the agility to become the famous dancer she’d always dreamed of being, but she could at least teach. And with that, she’d found a way to keep doing what she loved…even if it was not exactly what she loved.

So, she chose to be grateful.

But seeing Reed Scott again? The man who made her believe in everlasting, soul-deep, earth shattering love and then left her standing alone at the altar on their wedding day? The man who had left her just to star in a movie that would make him famous?

She was not grateful for that—or for him—one bit.

Teagan finished putting on the last touches of her makeup then changed into a new pair of leggings and a leotard. Glancing one last time in the mirror, she fluffed out her wavy brown hair nervously. As much as she might hate him, she found herself wanting to look her best for him anyway. Make him eat his heart out. Make him regret ever leaving her like that in the first place.

She swallowed, trying to push away her frustration. That didn’t seem possible right now, though. Sighing, Teagan grabbed her car keys off the small table by her front door and gave one last glance around the small Los Angeles apartment she called home. Benson, her incredibly fat tabby cat, was lounging on the windowsill, lazily yawning and watching her. “Bye, Benson. Be good.”

He didn’t even blink at her. He’d probably still be lying in that exact same spot when she came home later.

Teagan blew him a kiss then headed out, locking her front door carefully behind her. Within a few minutes, she was behind the wheel of her car and heading toward the studio. It was still dark outside, but she didn’t mind one bit. She enjoyed early mornings when the world was quiet and the roads were clearer. Driving was still something that made her a little tense after her car accident, and traffic in Los Angeles was always horrendous. But, at five o’clock in the morning, it was a lot more manageable and didn’t make her feel so…terrified.

Luckily, her commute was short and she arrived on set twenty minutes later. She headed straight to the studio where she’d told Reed to meet her, but he wasn’t there yet, which she’d expected since she was a bit early. Placing her dance bag on the shelf to one side of the studio, she pulled out her heel dancer shoes with a cute buckle T-strap over the top of her foot and put them on. She pulled on a loose fitting, light sweater over her leotard for some coverage, since it reached almost to the bottom of her ass.

Next, she began to shimmy out of her leggings, since she was able to work a lot better in her leotard without restriction to her legs. She got down to her knees before she realized that being bare legged would reveal the scar on her leg. Quickly, she slid them back up her legs.

“Shit.”

Teagan whirled around, looking for the person who’d just broken the silence around her.

Reed Scott. Of course.

“You scared the crap out of me,” she told him, grateful that he hadn’t been able to see her scar from where he was standing for the brief moment her leggings had been down.

“Sorry,” he replied, clearly making an effort to look anywhere but at her. “I didn’t know you’d be…uh, I mean, I wasn’t expecting…”

She rolled her eyes. Actors were so dramatic. “I’m not getting naked, Reed. I was just, uh, putting on my leggings to dance.”

“Sure. Right. Yeah.” He was rambling, clutching the gym bag over his shoulder. “So, time to get started?”

“Yep. Put your stuff on the shelf and we’ll get started,” she instructed, doing her best to ignore the butterflies fluttering in her stomach at the very sight of him. Fuck, he looked even better than he’d looked the last time she’d seen him. Tall, broad shoulders, olive skin under thick black hair with a scruffy beard she remembered was very soft. And those eyes…God, the way those light green eyes pierced through her.

He stood you up at the altar, she reminded herself. For a damn movie.

“Sure.” He headed toward her and placed his bag on the shelf. “What are we practicing today?”

“It’s a pretty short routine today, actually. It shouldn’t take us too long.” Though she doubted he’d be the quickest learner after his warning yesterday. “Ready?”

He turned around to look at her, his eyes trailing down her body in a way that made her heart pound faster and faster. Suddenly his gaze stopped, pausing on her legs.

Her heart pounded, terrified he could see through her thin leggings to the bump of her scar. But he said nothing, and his gaze kept traveling. She was safe.

Honestly, she was a little surprised he didn’t already know about her accident. It hadn’t been a secret. Everyone in her life knew, and she’d certainly expected someone to pass along the message. Or for him to check in, even once.

She’d waited for him in the hospital, expecting him to come. Expecting him to apologize. Expecting him to beg her forgiveness, realize what an idiot he had been and take her back, care for her, return her to health with his love and affection.

That hadn’t really worked out.

Finally, his eyes returned to his face, and his tongue slid across his bottom lip. “You look…damn, Teag. You look amazing.”

“Listen, Reed,” she began, setting her jaw and sticking out her chin. “We work together. That’s it. You don’t get to look at me like that anymore.”

Reed looked startled, taken aback at her abruptness. Then the saddest look she’d ever seen passed over his face. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

“Let’s get started.” She moved to the center of the studio. “I’ll show you today’s sequence, and then we’ll go through it step by step. Okay?”

He nodded, but said nothing.

Carefully, she posed herself in the center of the room with her toes pointed and her arms around her waist. In one slick move, she sidestepped and kicked one leg out to her left, flipping her hair with the motion. She then tucked her foot, her knee pointed out horizontally from her body and spun in a circle.

On her second spin around, she kicked up high, like an incredibly tall karate kick. When her foot touched back down on the ground, she lunged to the right and threw her arms out, tossing back her head with the motion. She curved her spine outwards, pulling her stomach in as she moved her arms in a circular motion toward herself.

She twirled then, spinning on the tips of her toes while keeping her eyes on one stationary spot so she didn’t get dizzy. After her fourth spin, she shoved her arms down by her sides and lifted her chin. With that, she spun back in the direction she’d just come from and leaped multiple times across the room with her arms out and her fingers pointed.

Finally, she came down on one foot and spun in several circles before coming to a stop in front of Reed. “Annnnnd, that’s it.”

“Shit, that looked complicated as hell,” he admitted. “Though you looked incredible doing it.”

She ignored his compliment. Or, rather, she tried. Admittedly, her heart pounded a little harder. But, that was being ignored for now. “Let’s go over the first step.” She repeated the side steps and kicking her leg to the left. “Just like that. Let’s see what you can do.”

Reed followed in her footsteps, and honestly, it wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t great either. “Like that?”

“Close,” she admitted. “Let’s go through it again.”

Defile Review.jpg

I have been waiting for the rest of the Civil Corruption series ever since I read Corrupt back in September! Now we get Declan and Tatum’s story in Defile.

The first few chapters are the set-up to how Civil Corruption came to be, all because Tatum kicked Declan’s shin when they were 7-year-olds riding their bikes. It was love at first sight, but it takes traveling an awfully bumpy road before these two get to their HEA. We see how their friendship grows from best friends to first kisses to first loves — to the band’s rise to fame and Declan and Tatum growing apart to, ultimately, the horrible night that breaks them up. Every moment, good and bad, gave me the feels, and I devoured this book in a single day.

The book then picks up ten years later, and the storyline runs in conjunction with some events that happen in Corrupt. Even though he cheated, Declan has never been able to forgive Tatum for breaking her promise to stay with him forever; the rage he carries from their breakup led to smash hits about Tatum and has catapulted Civil Corruption to even higher popularity. Tatum was absolutely crushed by Declan’s betrayal, because she not only lost her best friend and boyfriend, but she lost her band of brothers as well.

When they cross paths a decade later, both are still carrying around so much anger, but Declan is still so sure that they still belong together that he hatches a scheme to make sure that he has the opportunity to prove to Tate that there is nobody else for either one of them. While he manipulates the hell out of many situations, I have to give a helluva lot of credit to Declan for not giving up!

While Corrupt was solely told from Gwen’s POV, Jessica Prince offers both Declan and Tatum’s POVs here in Defile. I personally like getting both sides, so I hope the rest of this series follow suit. I also loved the winks to her Girls Talk series — Tatum lives in the building where sweet Maury is the doorman, and there’s an awesome scene set in The Black Sheep, Fiona and Deacon’s bar.

I am counting down the days until we get Killian and Gina’s story in July, but I REALLY want to find out what happens with Lyla and Mason! And I really would love to see sweet Cam get a story of his own some day! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

What had originally started as a six-month road trip across Cali, hopping from one shithole bar to the next, had stretched into a year and a half thanks to our manager, Chris Evers.

He’d approached us after watching us in San Diego, one of our last shows before heading back to San Francisco with our tales between our legs. We were officially out of money, and because of that, out of time. My heart was broken at the thought of going back. But then Chris appeared, promising that he could get us success if we signed with him.

At first it had all seemed too good to be true. I had to admit, there was something about the dude that didn’t sit right with me. He was slimier than a used car salesman, and twice as slippery. But he’d lived up to his promise. For the past year, the five of us had been living in a crappy little studio apartment in LA, recording our first album, and playing at bigger bars where people who mattered could see us. We’d busted our asses, put in our time, and it was finally paying off. Now we were on a fucking tour with one of the fastest-growing bands in the US. As far as I was concerned, Chris Evers could be Satan himself—as long as he kept living up to his own hype, I was on board.

Looking across the shitty apartment, I spotted Tatum sitting on the worn-to-hell couch Mace and I had found in the alley behind our building. I broke from the guys and headed toward my girl, scooping her into my arms and spinning her in a circle.

“You hear that, baby? It’s finally fuckin’ happening. We’re going on tour!”

She smiled and placed a kiss on my lips, but there was an uncertainty in her eyes that made an uncomfortable knot form in my stomach. Something was off. Tatum hadn’t been herself for a long time now, and I didn’t understand why. I got the impression that Chris made her uncomfortable and that she didn’t trust him, but she’d never spoken a word against him, and the guy hadn’t done anything to warrant us dropping him. I kept telling myself that it was just the instability of our life over the past eighteen months that had been weighing on her. Now that the doors were finally starting to open for us, she could breathe a little easier.

“That’s fantastic, Deck. I’m so happy for you guys.”

I set her back on her feet but kept her close. “What’s wrong, Tate? You don’t look that excited.”

“No, I am!” she declared loudly. Her expression finally began to warm, and genuine happiness shined in her eyes. “This is it, honey. I’m freaking thrilled.”

Resting my forehead against hers, I spoke in a hushed voice. “Nothin’ but good from here on out, baby.”

“I’m so proud of you,” she replied, her tone just as quiet as mine.

“I’m gonna give you the world, Tatum Valentine. Just wait and see.”

Her smile wobbled as tears pooled in her eyes. “I don’t need the world. All I need is you.”

She might not need it, but like hell I wasn’t going to give it to her. She deserved nothing but the best. My girl deserved to eat at the best restaurants, wear the most expensive clothes, live in the biggest house I could build her. She deserved to drip with diamonds. And I was going to make all of that happen.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Now Live: An Imperfect Heart, by Amie Knight

An Imperfect Heart, an all-new second chance romance from Amie Knight, is LIVE!

An Imperfect Heart PRINT-FOR-WEB

The heart is exquisite.

You’ll never hear anyone wax poetic over an organ quite like they do the heart.

When you’re lost in the world? Follow your heart.

When your love for someone is unwavering, unparalleled and unprecedented? You give them your heart.

As a lead pediatric cardiac surgeon, I knew better than anyone that the heart is equally as powerful as it is delicate.

The heart giveth just as easily as it taketh away.

And until the day Kelly Potter darkened my doorway that was all just part of the job.

She rolled in like a slow evening storm, fierce and beautiful, fighting for the life of her unborn child.

It should have been business as usual.

I was a doctor.

Her child the patient.

But Kelly was more.

She was the one who got away.

I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

It didn’t matter what the rules were.

For once, I was listening to my heart.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan comes a sexy new standalone romance about a woman who’d do anything to have a baby and the man who’d do anything to have her…

For my 30th birthday, I’m giving myself the one thing I want most: a baby. Sure, this would be easier if I had a husband—or even a boyfriend—but I refuse to be thwarted by minor details.

When I drunkenly confess my plans to my friends, they convince me to ask Jake Jackson for help. Jake, the best friend who’s been there for me through thick and thin. Jake, who also happens to be smart, funny, ridiculously good looking, and the winner of all the genetic lotteries.

So when Jake takes me up on my request—with the stipulation that we get the job done the old-fashioned way—I’d be a fool to decline.

The only problem? I don’t know if I can separate sex from all the things I feel for this amazing man. If I can’t keep my heart under lock and key, I risk losing the relationship I need the most.

Jake has his own reasons for granting my baby wish. But when I discover his secrets, it could mean the end of us. I have to choose—run or stay and fight for love.

Fall for the boys of Jackson Harbor in Lexi Ryan’s sexy new contemporary romance series. These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!
