The Resistance, is here to watch us play. But he’s not the only familiar face
in the crowd—killer little body, heart-shaped face, and drop-dead gorgeous.
Hannah Nichols sitting at the bar makes it
hard to concentrate, sparks already reigniting. The beauty was never a groupie
and tonight she’s not here to catch our show. She came to drop a bomb. “You
have a son.”
She underestimated me. I’ll prove to my son, and
her
, that I can be the dad he needs.
What is it about musicians? Why are they so damn
sexy?
My heart was Jet Crow’s the moment he opened
his sexy mouth and sang that first song. One stolen night with that man would
never be enough, but I’m not here to fall into his bed. Again. I’m here
to fight for custody of a son he’s never known.
There’s just one problem. Those sparks between us have become flames. If we’re not careful we’re
both going to get burned.

Cover Reveal: Home Run King by Stella is Coming February 22!

Home Run King by Stella is an all new standalone sports romance coming February 22nd!!

Synopsis

My life was what country songs are made of: my Granny died, my girlfriend broke up with me, I knocked up her cousin, and I was inducted into the Major League Hall of Fame. Yup…just like every country song I’ve ever heard.

But let me start over…

My name is Gage Nix. That’s all you need to know.

Actually, there’s a lot more to Gage than meets the eye. My name’s Katie Crisp, and I had a front row seat and the inside scoop.

In a moment of grief and desperation, I allowed the Home Run King to…well, hit a home run on my diamond. He not only knocked it out of the park, but he also knocked me up.

Raising two babies—the one I was carrying, and Gage—wasn’t what I signed up for. But he gave me no choice. I only wish I hadn’t waited until the end of the season to see that he was my MVP.

Oh, and the only hall of fame he’s ever been inducted into is his own.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Feels Like Home, by Jennifer Van Wyk

SBPR_BT_BANNER.jpg

Feels Like Home, an all-new emotional standalone from Jennifer Van Wyk is available NOW!

FLHome_print_web

Andy Simpson never expected to be raising his teenage twin sons alone.

Then again, he also never expected to walk into his house and see his wife with another man. In their bed. Or that it wasn’t her first time.

Bitterness threatened to wrap around his heart, darkening every part of his life.

But a brightness he wasn’t even looking for entered their lives and wouldn’t let it take hold.

Christine Jameson knew all about being a single parent. But she was holding a secret. A secret she wasn’t willing to allow anyone to find out. One she’d held tight for years.

But one look at Andy, and she knew that she needed to be honest with him. That he deserved to know he wasn’t alone.

They both needed friendship. Needed someone who understood, who had compassion without judgement.

What they didn’t imagine was for it to become something more.

That they would come to share something they never thought they would experience again.

They didn’t expect for it to… Feel Like Home.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I read so many YA romances, it was refreshing to read a story about more mature characters, single parents dealing with those obligations on top of navigating dating once again. As characters in their 30s/40s, Andy and Christine don’t play games with one another. Even when The Conflict arises for this couple, Christine handles it with grace and strength. Andy may have been a jackass about the situation at first, but he eventually mans up and handles it in a mature way.

I absolutely adored Andy and Christine both as individuals, and as a couple. Their relationship was truly born out of friendship and compassion, with Christine knowing exactly what Andy was going through in the aftermath of his wife cheating on him. And because both of their spouses had been unfaithful, the fact that Andy chose to wait until his divorce was finalized before moving past the friend zone with Christine endeared him to me even more. All of the time they spent together as friends, getting to know one another and each other’s kids, made them fall in love long before they officially began dating.

Van Wyk did a great job of also incorporating his and her children into the relationship, showing — not TELLING, which is a huge pet peeve of mine — how these two single parents blended their family together. The relationship seemed too good to be true — and since the blurb reveals that Christine is hiding a secret, I was wondering when the other shoe would drop. When it did, I can fully admit, I did not see that twist coming. But in a sense, it was perfect. It was perfect, to help these two people move forward and seal their futures together.

Van Wyk is a new-to-me author, and one that I will absolutely be reading more of. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

I reach across the cushion and grasp her hand in mine, squeezing once. “I’m sorry you went through that.”

She squeezes my hand once in response. “I’m sorry you’re going through it now.”

“Thank you.”

“So, want some advice?”

“Eat more lemon pound cake?”

She releases my hand and sits back, giggling, and again I’m hit with how much I love hearing the sound of her laughter. “Well, that, too. I could even say it’s healthy because it’s made with Greek yogurt.”

“You trying to tell me something?” I tease her.

She smiles, a cross between sad and sort of resigned.

“My advice? Be happy.”

“What’s that?”

“Be happy. I promise you. First of all, it will drive Heather nuts knowing you are moving on without her. But second of all, and this is the most important part of it, you’ll be happy.”

“You make it sound so easy.”

“I’ve had a lot of practice. When Todd was at his sickest, we practiced a lot of happiness. Happiness because we had good days, or we had quiet moments to spend as a family when he could barely get out of bed. Happiness when we were able to celebrate holidays. After he cheated, one of the things we discovered was that we could either give in to the ugly that it brought on, or we could move on. We moved on. And he had to do the same. We both had guilt. Guilt for how we got there. I questioned if I wasn’t giving him what he needed. He questioned everything. I’m not going to lie… it’s hard, and most days you’ll have to dig deep, but you’ll get there. Trust me. The light is always better than the dark.”

I lay my head on the back of the couch and turn to look at her. She’s so gorgeous it almost hurts to look at her. I’ve always thought so, though I would have never done a thing about it. She has always been the mom who turned heads.

“What was he thinking?” I murmur.

“Pardon?”

“Todd. What was he thinking?”

“You mean…”

“When he stepped out.”

She doesn’t respond, just simply smiles before biting her lip and looking away, her long, dark, silky hair falling over her shoulder. She ducks her head and tucks a lock of hair behind her ear.

“I’m sorry,” I tell her, though I don’t know what I’m apologizing for. Almost admitting how gorgeous I think she is? Her husband cheating? Her husband dying? Me laying my shit out for her? All of it, probably.

“I’m sorry Heather’s such an asshole,” she replies with a shrug.

I bark out a laugh. “She is definitely an asshole.”

“She forgot rule number one.”

“What?”

“Never mind… it was in a book I read.”

“Ahh. Good book?”

“More than good.” She gives me a ghost of a smile and reaches over to grip my hand, squeezing once before letting go. “So, what are you going to do?”

“Honestly? I have no clue. I need to find a place for the boys and me to stay, talk with a lawyer… that part I know for sure. I can’t stay with her. As sad as it sounds, and maybe it’s kind of a little mean, but I think we fell out of love a long time ago. We’ve been hanging on by a thread for years. I’m sure part of it was my fault, but still…”

“It’s no excuse. This has nothing to do with you, Andy. This is all Heather. You’re a great guy. It’s Heather’s loss.”

“I appreciate you saying that.”

“It’s the truth.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Scoring The Player, by Samantha Lind

unnamed.jpg
Title: Scoring the Player
Series: Indianapolis Eagles #2
Author: Samantha Lind
Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance

Release Date: February 8, 2018

Blurb
Cocky, man whore, player…. Those are all ways I have been
described by the media and countless women. Are they accurate? Possibly. But,
that’s all I let the media see of me, Brian Kelly, defensive player for the
Indianapolis Eagles Hockey team. I have no intentions of settling down and
changing the media’s perception of me. I can’t tell if women are after me for
my bank account, the status symbol of being with a professional athlete, or if
they really want me for me. Then I meet her. The one woman who doesn’t let my
charm affect her or cause her to jump directly into my bed. Can I possibly
change my ways and settle down?
Grounded, selfless, giving…Those are all the ways my family
and friends have described me. Are they right? Possibly. But, I’m so much more,
and need some passion and excitement in my life. My best friend is moving on
and I want that someone special to share all that life has to offer. Let it be
known that I, Kinley Williams, want the right someone special. So why did he
have to crash into me? The one man who is so clearly wrong for me. Then again,
he doesn’t seem like anything the tabloids claim him to be. So is he really all
that wrong?

Scoring the Player Teaser 7.jpg

 Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Scoring The Player is the second book in Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series, and I enjoyed this sweet romance just as much as the first one, Just Say Yes. We first met Kinley and Brian in Just Say Yes, as they are the best friend and teammate of that book’s couple, Becca and Scott. This story begins somewhere toward the end of Just Say Yes, but it is a complete standalone. Becca and Scott’s story does continue in this book, which I liked, without overshadowing the new couple, which I appreciated.

Brian is known as a hockey playboy, but he never knows if women are after him purely for his celebrity athlete status. The fact that Kinley doesn’t care much about who he is when they first meet leaves a mark on Brian, and even though he’s only visiting Scott in Alaska for a few days, he’s determined to get to know her better. Despite the sexual attraction between them, Brian respects every one of the boundaries Kinley sets forth in exchange for spending time with him during his visit. It was nice to see just how much of a gentleman this “player” can be.

Scoring the Player Teaser 2.png
After Brian’s Alaska trip comes to an end, he and Kinley continue building their friendship through text messages, phone calls and FaceTime, and the reader is right there as these two get to know one another better. There is zero drama due to other people interfering in their relationship, and the couple’s struggles stem from the geographical distance between them. When the going gets rough, Brian really steps up and proves to Kinley just how much her presence in his life changed his playboy ways.

I have the same complaint that I did with Just Say Yes, where I found some of the minute descriptions to be unnecessary, but I’m seeing that is Lind’s writing style. And honestly, aside from not knowing there was a potentially sensitive issue that develops (it’s a personal trigger for me, that I would have liked to have been prepared for), that’s my only complaint.

Scoring The Player is a sweet, angst-free romance, and I can’t wait to read Murph’s story next! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Coaching Hours, by Sara Ney

THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.

Well, there are, but they’re not who this story is about.

This story is about me—the coach’s daughter.

When I moved to Iowa to live with my dad, the university’s take-no-prisoners wrestling coach, I thought transferring would be easy as pie—living with my father would be temporary, and he’d make sure his douchebag wrestlers left me alone.

Wrong on both counts.

ASSHOLES ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

A bet is placed, and I’m on the table. After one humiliating night and too much alcohol, I find the last nice guy on campus. And when he offers to rent me his spare bedroom, I go all in. It’s time for the nice guy to finish first.

Midnight chats and spilling my problems turn to lingering touches. Lingering touches turn to more.

And the ultimate good guy has the potential do more damage than any douchebags ever could.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

The Coaching Hours is the first book I’ve read in the Douchebag series; there are crossover characters, but this is a true standalone. I did not feel that I was missing pieces of any backstory by not having read the others in this series first.

Anabelle transfers to the Iowa college where her dad is the wrestling coach, and the whole campus seems to know that she is off-limits. She strikes up a friendship with Elliott, and their easygoing relationship leads to her moving in as his roommate. Of course, little by little, they begin to fall for one another.

I liked that Elliott was such a gentleman, from the first moment that he and Ana meet in the library. Even when they are roommates and he’s starting to have feelings for her, he really holds back from crossing the line. And when Ana and Elliott finally DO cross that line… it was a slow burn worth the wait. But that’s not where this story ends, because Elliott has plans beyond Iowa for grad school, and Ana still has a few semesters to go. Will hearts be broken, or will Elliott realize that what he and Ana have is worth sticking around for?

Overall, The Coaching Hours was a light enjoyable read. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt

She perks up. “Wait, you’ve never had a back massage?”

“No?”

“Ever?”

“Nope.”

“Well, what the hell? How can I, in good conscience, lie here letting you rub my back when you’ve never had anyone rub yours?” She scoots over, pointing to the mattress. “Lie on your stomach, I’ll do you first.”

I wave my hands in front of me in protest. The last thing I need is her warm hands roaming my body. “No, no, you don’t have to. It’s not a big deal.”

“Are you crazy? Back massages are the best—like, better than an orgasm. You’re first, so lie down.”

“And you call me the bossy one?”

“Quit stalling and get on the bed.”

Obediently, I climb to the middle of my bed in nothing but a pair of gym shorts, legs hanging off the side. Next to me, the mattress dips, Anabelle on her knees, approaching my side.

A finger glides down my spine. “It will be easier for me to do this if I’m sitting on you. Hope that’s okay.”

“Is that the approved method?”

“No, but my arms will get tired if I have to lean over you the whole time.”

“Do whatever then, I don’t care.”

I stiffen when Anabelle swings one leg over my body, straddling my ass. Warm palms at my lower back.

“You’re so tense. Try to relax,” she coos, making it worse. “Tilt your head to the side, that’s it.”

I hear the lotion bottle snap open. Click closed. My roommate’s palms rubbing together, warming it up. “Sorry, I don’t have any actual massage oil. This will have to do.”

When her hands make contact with my back, I almost groan it feels so fucking good. Warm. Smooth. Pressure in all the right places, pushing gently into my muscles.

Slowly.

Slower still, caressing along my shoulders, thumbs and fingers working together to soothe the burning on my right side.

“Doesn’t this feel great?” Her soft voice cuts into the silence. “You’re loosening up. That’s good.”

I feel her leaning as her hands move up and down my spine until they stop, hovering at the base of my neck. Thumbs stroking the skin below my hairline, back and forth.

Kneading.

Her torso dips, hands maneuvering my arms, placing them at my sides. Palms slide up and down my biceps.

For several minutes, she rubs my arms and shoulders. Then she skims down my ribcage unhurriedly, in no rush, making little humming sounds inside her throat.

I know I’m not imagining the feather-light way her hands drift down my spine. I remain still, letting her touch me, basking in it.

Remain still when her lips kiss the tender spot of my shoulder where it meets my neck, nose nuzzling behind my ear, her breasts rubbing against my back and what the fuck was that all about? What does she think she’s doing, trying to drive me insane?

Blog Tour: What The Valley Knows, by Heather Christie

What The Valley Knows
Heather Christie
Publication date: January 25th 2018
Genres: Romance, Young Adult

Millington Valley is a quintessential small Pennsylvania town: families go back generations. Football rules. Kids drink while adults look the other way. High school is a whirlwind of aspiration and rivalry, friendship and jealousy.

When smart and pretty Molly Hanover moves to town and attracts the attention of the football team’s hero, Wade Thornton—a nice guy with a bad drinking habit—longtime friendships are threatened and a popular cheerleader tries to turn the school against Molly.

The young couple’s future is shattered when Wade, drunk, wrecks his truck and Molly is thrown through the windshield. She wakes from a coma to find her beauty marred and her memory full of holes. As she struggles to heal, she becomes sure that something terrible happened before the accident. And there is somebody in the valley who doesn’t want her to remember.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble

EXCERPT:

Molly heard the noises around her once more, the beep of a monitor, and at first she thought she was dreaming, caught somewhere in the realm between consciousness and the darkness again. But she wasn’t. The voices were real.

The driver ran away?” Molly didn’t recognize the voice at first.

The Sheriff thinks he did,” her mother said, her speech clipped. “Thank you for stopping by, but really I can handle this on my own.”

I wanted to offer the firm’s services.” It was her mother’s boss, the landlord. He stopped briefly and then quickly added, “Free of course.”

Her mother inhaled loudly and then started to cry softly. “For what?” She sniffled. “I don’t need a lawyer right now. I need my daughter to be okay, but thank you.”

You should sue. This will cost a lot and don’t count on everything being covered by insurance.”

Her mother’s voice cracked. “I can’t think about that right now.”

I understand. That’s why you need a lawyer to free you from worrying about money. Trust me, I’ve been in situations like this. It’s the least the firm can do for one of our employees. Look, you’ve been up all night. Why don’t you go home and freshen up? We can talk about the legal stuff later.”

I don’t need a shower,” her mother said. “I need to be here with Molly. Besides, my friend Thelma is coming soon.”

Seriously, I think you’ll feel better if you take a break. I don’t mind staying until Thelma gets here. Bring Molly’s things from home to put in the room. Maybe a photo of her father.”

Molly heard the scrape of a chair leg and her mother rummaging in her purse. “You’re right. The sooner I go, the sooner I can get back.” Then she said, “Funny you should mention a photo. Molly has a framed picture on her bed stand of the three of us. I’ll bring it. I’ll be back within the hour.”

Take your time. I’ll stay until your friend gets here.”

Peter,” her mother hesitated. “Thanks.”

Of course. Don’t worry.”

The nurse checks in every fifteen minutes. If you notice any change, press this button.”

Molly heard the jiggle of her mother’s car keys. The door opened and quietly clicked shut. Peter was looking at her. She could feel it. He didn’t make a sound. Then she heard quiet, deliberate footsteps as he circled the bed. The mattress buckled on one side when he sat down. He leaned close to her, his minty breath like a fog on her skin. He lowered his voice. “Can you hear me, Molly?” He waited a moment as if expecting her to answer.

The small muscles in Molly’s shoulders clenched and she tried to scream.

Tempting Perfection mashes up a few different tropes — roommates, rockstar, secret crush, friends to lovers, second chance and a bit of a mystery. But somehow it all works.
Sawyer has had a thing for her rockstar roommate, Kurt, for a while. But he is anti-relationship. Before the book begins, they had a week-long fling while in a business trip, and Sawyer was hoping that would continue once they got back home. But Kurt pulled away, breaking her heart. Except that Kurt was feeling things for Sawyer, too. But he’s so afraid of being like the father who abandoned his mother that Kurt would rather just be miserable apart from Sawyer.

Author Bio
USA Today Bestselling Author, NANA MALONE’s love of all
things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she
borrowed from her cousin on a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana at a precocious
thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since.

With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a
matter a time before she started creating her own characters. Waiting for her
chance at a job as a ninja assassin, Nana, meantime works out her drama,
passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as
she thinks she is.

The books in her series have been on multiple Amazon Kindle and Barnes &
Noble best seller lists as well as the iTunes Breakout Books list and most
notably the USA Today Bestseller list.

Until that ninja job comes through, you’ll find Nana working hard on additional
books for her series as well as other fun, sassy romances for characters that
won’t leave her alone. And if she’s not working or hiding in the closet reading,
she’s acting out scenes for her husband, daughter and puppy in sunny San Diego.

If you’re in, you’ll never have to ask. If you ask,
you’ll never be in.
Eloise Mason knows what it’s like to live among the privileged. Seeking a
change from the upper crust society of Europe, she flies halfway across the
world for a semester abroad in the one place guaranteed to toss responsibility
out the window and provide some good, old-fashioned fun; college in The United
States.

Except nothing at the picturesque, Ivy-covered university in Vermont appears as
it seems. And after a mysterious invitation arrives on her doorstep, curiosity
wins over the need to turn her back on games meant for the rich and ruthless.

Secret societies, risky tasks, and an inner circle to rival the royals. But it
may just be one American boy who threatens to be the most dangerous endeavor of
all.

Colton Reiter defines the word idolized at Jade Mountain University. In fact,
he practically rules the roost from the three point line of the basketball
court. The college’s star point guard, he is a god and treated as such;
professional scouts at every game, teachers looking the other way when it comes
to grades, and girls falling into his lap at the snap of a finger. He wants for
nothing, or at least that’s what he wants everyone to believe.

But when he meets the sassy girl with the British accent who could care less
about his status, her very existence threatens to unveil the skeletons buried
deep in the back of his closet.

With stakes this high, and hearts on the line, can they turn their backs on
power and popularity before the ivory tower comes crashing down on their heads?
